Use of two HH - quick answer needed - please.

An enginer some three months ago, set up a HHv3 for the broadband and a HHv2 for the phone, so that I could continue to use the hub handsets and not have to replace them. I do not have broadbandtalk.
Want I need to know is: would in your opinion, this set up course the broadband to drop broadband connection, anything up to ten times a day?
The lights on the HHv3 are: power light = on, broadband light = on and wireless light = on.
The lights on the HHv2 are: power light = on, broadband light = off, wirelss light = on and phone light = on.
Surely if both HH's as suggested by UK tech team were connected to the broadband then both HH's broadband light's would be on.
The HHv2 show no connection since 10th January 2011.
The HHv3 is connected to the ADSL side and the HHv2 is connected to the phone side.
It would great if I could get a quick answer to this, as I am in the middle of an email back to the UK tech team.

sorry to say, but I don't think that the whole post is being read. As if it were, you would note that one hub is being used on the ADSL side and the other is on the phone side, so in effect the hub that is on the phone side is just being used as a wireless phone and not connected to the broadband/ADSL and is not being used as a router. I did also mention that the event log for the second hub the one being used for phone service only has no connection entries since January 2011. Not even to the time server, so therefore is not being used for any type of broadband connection. Even the broadband light is OFF.

Using 2 drives in MBP - help needed please.

I have an 2009 Unibody MBP with a 320GB 7200 HDD, that's nearly full.
I want to instal 2 drives in it; one 60GB SSD for my applications and the OS, and one 1TB normal HDD for everything else (by removing the Superdrive). The idea being that the machine boots from the SSD for quick start-ups, while the HDD has all my data on it.
I need:
- 1x fast/quality 60GB 2.5" SSD, with dual drive kit/enclosure thingy.
- 1x 1TB 2.5" HDD. (I believe the only ones available this size currently run at a weird 5200 RPM?)
- 1x easy transfer/set-up method (to get apps/OS onto the SSD separately off my current single drive safely, then my data onto the new HDD).
- 1x Superdrive connection/enclosure for occasional external use of the DVD drive when I need it.
Questions:
(1) Is it best to set-it up as ONE drive partition, or have them as separate partitions?
(2) Will my 1TB Time Capsule be able to back both drives up easily, anything I need to do?
(3) Are there any downsides to doing this (yes, Applecare will not fix due to removing the Superdrive if future probs, but I can live with that)?
(4) Where in the UK can this be stuff be bought from, really need somewhere that offers help setting it up; videos and all.
In the US you have OWC (http://www.macsales.com ) who offer some great options, but I haven't found anywhere online in the UK offering a similar helpful package for the non-tech people. (importing from OWC would add £60+ import taxes I really don't want to pay - shame they don't have a UK operation :-|).
I know there are some cool tech people around here who know about this stuff, so really any other advice/links to help very gratefully received.

For most purposes, the SSD and HD should each have only a single partition for normal use.
(Some folks put a copy of a heavy-duty disk repair app on a separate partition; and/or copy their Install disc to one via the Restore tab of Disk Utility; and/or install a different version of OSX on a separate partition.)
Be sure to have at least a minimal Admin account on the SSD.

Yes. They should both be backed-up by default.

Image persistence on New 24" LED Cinema Display - Quick Reply needed please

I have a new 24" LED Cinema display - delivered 14 days ago today (hence needing a quick reply!).
Yesterday I noticed image persistence down the entire left hand-side of the screen - should this happen on such a new display?
Should I return it / take it back?

For what it is worth the image persistence is the left-hand column of the iTunes window - I can read the entire column from the top where it says "Music" down to the "Selected item" that appears above the album artwork window.
I do use iTunes a lot but certainly nothing out of the ordinary and often in reduced size mode or behind other windows. (i.e it does not sit in the same place all the time).
Since I took the screen out of the box the screen-saver has been set to turn on after 15 mins and the Energy Saver is set to turn the screen off after 20 mins (i.e I have taken screen saving measures).
Finally, I have done the "display an all-white image on the entire display" as per here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2807) and after six hours of this the problem has improved, but certainly not gone away.
So, to return, or not to return, that is the question.

I've had this same problem on my 24" iMac for some time (it's still under my AppleCare warranty, but it began doing this long ago). I searched these forums a year ago and never found anything about this, so I'm glad I found these posts here today.
I guess it's time to haul mine back into the store. Also I note that my screen has developed some dark areas, as if the fluorescent backlight has become irregular.

Quick answer needed----Does Oracle ADF Mobile support Canvas in HML5?

I am interested in Oracle ADF Mobile and want to develop a native mobile product on ipad maybe other tablet devices with CAD functionality. But I can't find a way to create HTML5 with Canvas on it. I wonder if Oracle ADF Mobile can do it. If so, how?

Hi,
ADF Mobile comes with a rich set of Data Visualization Components (charts/graphs/etc) that's based on HTML5 Canvas. You would not need to develop your own set of HTML5 components. This is applicable to the new on-device version of ADF Mobile. You would need to create an ADF Mobile app, and create your user interface using AMX components. The graphics component set is call DVT Mobile AMX.
If you decide to create your own HTML5-based pages with HTML5 canvas-based graphics component, you can still host your own HTML5 page inside ADF Mobile. However, you would need to create your own HTML5 page.

WLC Logs!!! Quick Help needed please!

My client want to check who owned a certain IP address on the WLC and from which AP he was associated. I looked at the system logs in the GUI but couldn't get beyond 6 hours. Is there a place I can download last day logs from CLI/GUI? Or Can I login via SSH and extract the logs via CLI?

Quick help needed please

I've created my own button in the shape of two rings in photoshop and used this in DVDSP now for the highlights i get a little square (actually a rectangle) that highlights instead of the shape of the ring... how do i create this in photoshop the right way so it will highlight properly?
my clients are picking up the dvd in two days so it is kinda urgent

Half Resolution Quick Answers Required Please!

I have just got to 78% on exporting a project from Premiere CS6 ready for Encore and have just realised I have left the preview setting in premiere at 1/2 resolution. Will this affect my export?
I would appreciate if someone can answer this pretty quickly as I have got an hour and 20mins left to encode.

OK, I have read all the threads on the fan noise and downloaded XRG 1.1 to check my fan speeds. As I surmised, my fans appear to be running too fast (at all times). Here are the details.
CPU between 5% and 10%
CPU temp 120 degrees
Hard Drive 130 degrees
CPU fan 4400 rpm
Hard Drive fan 6000 rpm
System fan 4000 rpm
Do I need to reset the nvram? does this include having to pop the back off and reset 2 switches as I read on another post? any other suggestions?

Yes it's an original 20" iMac G5. I ordered it the week they were announced, and have an extra 512MB ram in there to bring the total up to 768MB. I know the fans will run faster and louder than they are now, because when I updated some firmware (for the little power light at the front) the fans ran at the default highest speeds and I almost thought the computer was actually going to fly away.
After putting the processor back to "automatic" and putting the computer to sleep for the night, when I brought it back up this morning the fans were in the 3000 range. Quiet. Amazing what 1000rpm can do. After running Safari and Mail for an hour or so, the fans are back up to the ranges I posted in my first post... not the fastest, but definately noticeable from across the room. Temperature and CPU loads never really changed much although the fan noise did.
Since the fans did start at a lower speed and then move higher, does this mean that the "button" reset inside will not work? or should i just go ahead and try? not really wanting to crack open the back if it is pointless...

A friend on a trip is all of a sudden asked to log in to her G4 laptop running Tiger. As far as she is aware no changes to settings have been made.
She does not have the install disks with her.
How can she get this sorted?
She is in a place where mac's aren't standard and there is no apple center near by.

Could be a cookie issue...
Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab then click Show Cookies
Type yahoo in the serach field then click Remove All > Done
Quit then relaunch Safari.
Try accessing your Yahoo mail account.
FYI... there is rarely a sure fire correct response for third party web based email client software. Often takes time consuming troubleshooting.

We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)
