Use of Virtual Cube

Hi All,
In our BI implementation we are building Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statements and we were planning to use Virtual Cube (similar to 0FIGL_VC1 and VC2) but we are trying to explore if there is an alternate approach as Virtual Cubes come with performance issues. Also we need a multiprovider on top of it and these two dont go together well. I want to know if we can achieve this reporting without the virtual cube in place. Any inputs would be really helpful. Please let me know if I was not clear in mentioning my requirements.

As ravi said the VC can be used when we have leass number of users, basically in VC the structure will be available. And moreover when you generetae a report based on Multiprovider which is based on the VC then it will pick up the data directly from the source to which it has been connected..

Use of virtual cube 0FIGL_V10 for reporting on Financal Statements

Dear all,
I am new to the GL reporting and I have a question about the usage of the virtual cube for reporting on Financial Statements.
On the content site I see that you can report your Balance Sheet based on the infocube 0FIGL_C10, where you can use the infoobject 0GLACCOUNT to display the balances.
I also installed the Virtual Cube 0FIGL_V10, which has the infoobject 0GLACCEXT to show the Financial Statement Item hierarchy.
My questions are:
- to create a Balance Sheet Report, is it advisable to use the content query 0FIGL_C10_Q001?
If I run that query now, it is showing the data on seperate G/L accounts, where I would like to see a hierarchy display.
For reporting on the capital expenditure however the requirement is that some G/L acoounts don't have to be taken into account. How can I exclude those then from the hierarchy for that report?
- to create the P&L, advice on the content site is to use the virtual cube because you have the Financial Statement Item hierarchy available there and you can report on specific financial statements.
Can anyone tell me the added value of using the Virtual Cube? Or can I skip it and just add the Financial Statement Item hierarchy in the 0FIGL_C10 cube and create a report where I select the nodes of the hierarchy that are only applicable for the P&L? Will that corrupt the figures or have any other effect?

Virtual cube with function module

hi
I wrote function module which is used with virtual cube.
When I launch query build on this cube in the BEX i can't interrupt execution
of function module. How to put break point. may be there is any option that could turn off debugging?

Try an external breakpoint. How you set that depends on your version. If there's not a button for it on your editor screen, look at utilities->settings->ABAP Editor->debugging in SE38.

Query Calculation on Virtual Cube

Hi Gurus,
I am using the virtual cube 0FIGL_C01 for my balance sheet and income statement queries and in one of the queries I am using one of the line item (ASSETS)from the Financial Statement Hierarchy(0GLACCEXT) on the rows which has nodes under it that are either line items or just normal nodes which are actually cummulated to get the value of the line item (ASSETS)and on the columns I have a CKF balance.
So I am trying to create a formula in another column that will have the value of each of the line items under line item (ASSETS) as a percentage of the value of cummulated line item (ASSETS).
Example: ASSETS-                               60000
                    Revenue-                 45000
                                 Sales         35000
                    Taxes-                    15000
                                Income Tax 10000
So I need to show in the column when the hierarchy is expanded the % of revenue(a node of ASSETS) over ASSETS,% of Sales(a node of revenue) over ASSETS,% of Taxes(a node of ASSETS) over ASSETS,% of Income tax(a node of Taxes)over ASSETS etc.
Any help will be appreciated

Virtual Cube to load APO Planning area (LC)?

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is technically possible to use a virtual cube in APO/BW to load the APO planning area (liveCache)? It would be great to have some SAP documentation to suport this.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually looking to source data from a non-sap system and would like to explore the option of using a virtual cube connected to the external system using SAP UDC (universal data connector). The data could be loaded to a basic cube, but this would mean data redundancy. If this can be avoided by the use of a virtual cube, I would prefer to use that method. I just wasn't sure if SAP-APO would allow for the data to be loaded into liveCache from a virtual cube. I do like the BAPI option also. If a virtual cube with services is used, is an ABAP function module required to get the data?

What is the use of Data packet dim with Virtual cube with services

Could anybody tell me what is the use of Packet dimension in Virtual cube with services , It cannot contain data persistently ,Just fetch at runtime,Then there is no Physical load happening,Then why it should be automatically created for this??

Unit dimension will not be created automatically until and unless you have keyfigure referning units..
But my question is : Why should we have data pack dimension , which is useless in this case of Virtual cube with services.It should not be created automatically!! What do you say??

Incorrect data with Virtual Cube 0FIGL_V10 when used in MultiProvider

I am using 0FIGL_V10 in a multiprovider with 0FIGL_O02 to solve a reporting requirment.
My problem is that I am unable to get the same revenue figure from the multiprovider as I am from the virtual cube alone.
In the multiprovider query I have filtered my revenue KYF's by:
value type
version
currency type
I have fiscal period across the top of the columns and filtered for example to 001.2009 - 006.2009
This query returns double the revenue value that I get if I run an indentical query on the base cube 0FIGL_V10.
I have found that if i filter fiscal period directly in the KYF restriction it outputs the correct result which is confusing.
Any ideas ?

Query on BCS virtual cube is not using the aggregates on BCS basic cube

Hi all,
I have BCS Virtual cube which is linked to BCS Basic cube. I built aggregates on BCS Basic cube.
I created simple query on BCS basic cube and ran in debug mode of rsrt, it showed the aggregates on bcs basic cube. But when I created the same query on BCS vitual cube and ran it rsrt debug mode the query did not show any aggregates, that was strange.
So My questions is whether query built on virtual bcs can utilize the aggregates built BCS basic cube, if possible please let me knows the tweaks.

1. Goto se37. Enter RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ and choose Display.
2. In line 82 (in a BW 3.5) there is a line that says:
CLEAR: e_t_data, e_end_of_data, e_aggregate, e_split_occurred.
Put the cursor in there and press the 'stop shield' or use CtrlShiftF12.
3. In the same mode open transaction RSRT and choose your query. Execute it. If you stop at the breakpoint, enter I_TH_SFC into one of the fields in the lower left area and press Enter. You should see a table with the characteristics you need in the system.
As I said I'm not quite sure if it works. I have access to a BCS system on monday. I'll try then to find out more.

For the multi-cube;
you can create a reports out of different infoprovider...let's say you have infocube for actual and another for plan...you can create a report to see actual and plan both...

Error reading virtual cube using listcube t code

I an trying to execute listcube t-code and get the data of the virtual cube , but it is giving me an error message :
1)Exception 'CX_RSDAI_ACCESS_ERROR' caught

Hi,
Just to share some thoughts on virtual provider (VP), sometimes there are selection criteria that are not set as a required field but the VP needs it to successfully pull data.
For example if in case this is a VP is a planning area, you would always need to include the planning version value even if its not set as a required field in the selection screen.
You need also to put a check mark in all of the output fields before getting the result of your listcube.
Now, looking at your error this seems more of a auth issue of your ID on your source system.
Can you try pulling the data again then after you encounter this error run SU53 to check for any auth issue?

Report issue on Virtual cube with services

Hi,
I'm following a how-to document to report on a virtual cube using a custom function module and everything seems to be OK except it is dumping at the following line which is included in the How To document "How Tou2026Implement a virtual InfoProvider with Services".
Both <l_s_data> and E_T_DATA are of same data types as discussed in the how-to document.
append <l_s_data> to E_T_DATA
These are the declarations which are same as HowTo document
E_T_DATA TYPE STANDARD TABLE
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <l_s_data> TYPE ANY.
Did any one face this issue. Greatly appreciate any insight into this issue. We are on BW 3.0B.

Report has only Z_CRNUM & Z_SR
<L_S_DATA> has following record & value

K____504 is the technical name of Z_SR in virtual provider.
S____504 is the technical name of Z_CRNUM in virtual provider.

My requirement is I need to fetch the data from Source System (From Data base table) by using Virtual Cube.
What I have done is I have created Virtual Cube and created corresponding Function Module in Source System.
That Function MOdule is working fine, if Data base table is small in Source System.But If data base table contains huge amount of data (millions of record), I am not able to fetch the data.
Below is the code I have incorporated in my function module.

Virtual Cube with DTP for direct access

Hello experts, I would like to hear about some tips to improve performance on reporting over this kind of infoprovider. If there were no performance impact in reporting then this cubes would be perfect to face the requirement we are facing. So I would like to get some help on deciding if we can go ahead with this idea or not.
The volume of information is not going to be small in underlying cube staged in APO source system but we can take care on reports using restrictions and small horizons of information. There is no processing in BW side, we would just transfer records from source system to report.
What else besides restrictions in reports can we do to reduce query performance impact? Any work in underlying cube like partitioning, compression or so?.
Any advice from your experience?.

There are 2 BCS documents that might give you some starting point on Virtual cubes, if you have a S-userID for service.sap.com/support, these generally discuss the use of Multiproviders, helped by VirtualProviders so you'll have to skip through some redundnat content.

BEx query based on virtual cube donu00B4t display a valid List of Value (LOV)

I have a problem with an invalid LOV. The scenario is the following; There´s a BEx query based on a virtual cube. The query has an exit variable on caracteristic that is based on 0CALMONTH.
At Universe Designer I simply create a connection, a universe based on this query and export.
At Web Intelligence (also at Live Office), when I try to execute de query, the prompt to fill my exit variable display a list of value that doesn´t match with the values of the caracteristic at the cube.
Actually, the list at the prompt starts with 01.0000 and finishes with 05.0968.
In Universe Designer, the option to edit the list of values is not available. But I think that editing the LOV is not the correct way.
I´ve tried creating a new query based on the DSO that is the source of the virtual cube. In this case, I had a valid list. Unfortunately, I can´t use this DSO.
Did anyone already have this problem?

can you explain what you mean with "input length for that filed" ?
The field in the table is varchar2(120). I coudn't found options for the List of value.

Query on virtual cube showing incorrect values

Experts,
I have create a virtual cube on a base cube using services (info-source). both virtual as well base cube are z-development and are in BI.
Base cube has 6 records, now when I check data in virtual cube using display data it shows correct values based on routine written in virtual cube transformation.
Problem is when I created query on this virtual cube it doesnt show correct data or sometime no applicable data. After debugging I found, in end routine itself result package contains records with blank values in it on which I have written routine. But it does this only while executing query not when I display data in cube.
