Use of WPA wireless secuity on 10.2

I just picked up a used G3 iBook with an airport card for my kids to check e-mail and for web surfing. I cannot get the iBook to log on my wireless network (a Netgear b/g wireless router) when I have the WPA security active. I would prefer not to use WEP unless I have to. The iBook will log onto the wireless network w/ the router's securirty settings off. This is my first run in w/ OS X older than Tiger, so any help would be approciated!

I recently purchased a 24" iMac and have had problems connecting to my roommates WPA wireless network. I used to be able to connect to a neighbors unsecured linksys and now thats gone too. I have never been able to use the shared WPA key to access the router, and I’ve read a bunch of similar stories as to why that doesn’t work. I know that I can access the wireless point with my Windows Notebook and decided to Install Windows via Bootcamp to see if I can get on that way.
Nope. The Notifier in the system tray is just telling me that its 'acquiring network address" which means the WPA is correct....is this an internal WiFi card problem?
Im sure this sounds like a repeat, so linking me to the appropriate sites for troubleshooting would help too.

Running WPA Wireless security w/ OSX 10.2

I am running an older G3 iBook on my wireless system and it does not seem to work with WPA wireless security. I am using a Netgear G614 router, which works fine except with the iBook. The iBook has no problem with the wireless security turned off and I would like to avoid using WEP, if possible. I posted this in the older OS sections with no response. Help!

I have a similar problem with which I've been struggling for months. My MacBook Pro suddenly stopped working with my home router - it showed as connected but would not browse.
I have eventually boiled it down to a problem with WPA security. Ethernet networking works, networking with WEP security and no security works, but WPA doesn't. This applies to any router, not just mine at home.
When it originally failed, my MacBook was running OS X 10.4.11. Rolling back to 10.4.9 and before removes the error, but 10.4.10, 10.4.11, 10.5.1 and 10.5.2 all exhibit this failure. The fault is not evident on my iMac G5 or my new iMac Intel, or on my daughter's XP PC.
Therefore, it is a combination of hardware and software issues. So don't expect a cure just by upgrading!
Does anyone have any ideas for a cure, please?

WPA wireless connection

I have a wireless connection problem. I am using S10e. Windows XP Professional (English) with SP3 was installed. Public/open wireless access points were detected and connected successfully. WEP wireless connection at home was fine. However, while configured WPA wireless connection, Windows do not allow me to enter user ID and password. (I am using the default Windows wireless configuration software.)
Remark:
1. Windows Update was run. All critical patches and latest drivers were installed.
2. In device manager of Control Panel in Windows, all drivers of devices were installed. (No exclamation mark next to devices).

Had the same or a similar problem on my S10
Excellent connection to my wireless router, but no way to enter WEP key.
Right click to icon on taskbar to "View Available Wireless Networks"
Click on "Change Advanced Settings"
Click on the "Wireless Networks" tab
Highlight your network and click "Properties". (You may need to delete your network here, Can't remember.)
At the "Association" tab, UNCLICK "This key is provided for me automatically"
Now type in your exact SSID network name, even if it already shows up (very important)
Type in your Network WEP key twice to verify.
I need to do this the first time I use any XP machine on my wireless network.
Its probably a setting in my D-Link wireless router. I don't understand these things, I just try and try.

I'm guessing it's a compatibility problem similar to that that T-Mobile in the US has. I'm not familiar with chat-r wireless, but I'm guessing it's not a supported carrier for the iPhone. If they can't tell you how to fix it, I'm guessing it's just plain not going to work.

Nothing is working. I can plug my 5200 modem directly up to my desktop , and the network is fine, but the wireless, of course, is not plugged in. When I go to connect the wireless, it doesn't work. This is not a computer program per se, nor is it a router program because sometimes it will work. It seems to me that the computer and router are not working together to hold the settings.
I have attempted to download the latest software for my computer, i.e., Imac graphics fireware. Each time I try, it says that the extensions are not valid for my computer.

Did you mean to say firmware? You should only install firmware updates when offered to you via Software Update; other than that, whatever is offered is not appropriate for your model.
As for your Netgear router - I have a Netgear and set it up manually on their web interface setup site (the address should be in your manual). Did you call your ISP so they will recognize that there is a router involved? Sometimes my iMac also does not want to communicate with the router; however, my Macbook and printer have no problem. I solved the problem by connecting things this way:
cable from wall to modem > cable from modem to router > cable from router to iMac. The other things are wireless.

iPhone 6 page says that iMovie is a (free) application available for iPhone 6. When I use it on the desktop I need a mouse. The Guest Network function of the Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme cannot be enabled when the device is in Bridge Mode. Unfortunately, with another router...the Telus...upstream on your network, Bridge Mode is indicated as the correct setting for all other routers on the network.
If you can replace the Telus gateway with a simple modem (that performs no routing functions), you should be able to configure either the Time Capsule or the AirPort Extreme....whichever is connected to the modem....to provide a Guest Network.

Using AX as wireless router, how to set up w/ security and airtunes on XP

I previously had a Linksys wireless router. I just purchased an Airport express to use as the wireless router (and remove the Linksys router) as well as use the Airtunes functionality.
After some trial and error, I have been able to wireless connect my computer to the AX on it's own (the linksys router is now unplugged and out of the equation). I can connect to the internet fine on my PC (XP Pro SP2).
Trouble is, when I use the Network Setup Assistant, it shows the apple network listed, but it can't connect to it, no matter how many times I try, reboot my machine or reboot the AX. I've tried both the "setting up a new network" and "editing an existing network" option, and in each selection, after a few minutes of trying to connect to the network, I just get a failure message.
If I try and use the Admin utility, nothing shows up in the left-hand list window, and when I Press re-scan, still nothing shows (it doesn't even appear to scan).
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can't find simple instructions on how to set up the AX as the only wireless router for a PC and set up security and Airtunes (I'm assuming enabling airtunes is done in these applications, as I haven't seen anything about that yet either).
Any ideas on how this is done with a PC? Much thanks!

I have found the 'DHCP Reservations' option on the AirPort Extreme to be buggy. I seem to remember it causing IP conflicts for some reason. I think what I remember is that if the computer with the reservation was off, and the DHCP server then handed out that IP to another DHCP client, then there would be a conflict when the reserved IP computer was turned back on. Maybe it was an issue in ealier versions of the AE or OS X as the case may be, and maybe it's been corrected, but I've never bothered using it agian since the method I describe below has always worked without fail. Also, I'm guessing DHCP Reservations would work fine if one manually enters IPs outside of the DHCP range but in the AE 'DHCP Reservation Setup Assistant' the IP options provided are within the DHCP range which to me makes no sense and increases the potential for IP conflicts.
Here's what I do to setup a mixed environment of static and dynamic IPs on my network. It works like a charm and does not require the DHCP server (beyond the distribution of dynamic IPs to hosts using DHCP).
For machines on my network that are accepting services from the public network, I set them up with static IPs using the 'Manually' option (System Preferences/Network/Ethernet/Configure IPv4). The settings for 'Router' IP address and 'DNS Server' IP address should both be set with your gateway/router LAN IP). Use an IP address below or above the DHCP range of adresses (in AE/Internet/DHCP/DHCP Beginning & Ending Address).
i.e. if my subnet is 10.0.1.1 and my DHCP range is 10.0.1.100 to 10.0.1.150, you could set the static IPs on your local hosts as 10.0.1.x where x = any number from 2 - 99 or from 151 - 200 as an example.
All other machines and devices that do not require static routing are setup as DHCP clients and get a dynamic IP from the AE. To me it's a simpler setup though it might take a little extra time to setup initially.

Instead of getting a wireless card for the Mac Pro, you might want to consider getting an 802.11ac wireless bridge device that would enable you to connect more than one device to it by Ethernet cable and to eventually take advantage of the faster 802.11ac wireless standard.

Using keypad on wireless keyboard to enter passwords won't work in safari

I have an iMac and I am using an apple wireless keyboard. Whenever I try and type in a password that has numbers in it and I use the keypad, the password is not recognized. I do not have the mouse function turned on. The keypad works fine in all other programs even in other fields in Safari. Just doesn't work for password entry. It will work in Firefox however.

Quit Safari. Disable bookmark synchronization, if applicable.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar. Copy the following line into the text box that opens, then press return:
~/LibrarySafari/Bookmarks.plist
Move the selected file to the Desktop, leaving the Finder window open. Relaunch Safari. Select File ▹ Import Bookmarks from the Safari menu bar. Import from the bookmarks file you moved to the Desktop. Test. If Safari now performs normally, you can delete the old bookmarks file. Otherwise, quit Safari again and put back the file you moved, replacing the newer one with the same name. Close the Finder window and post again.

I would like to use an Apple Wireless Keyboard on my intel iMac (the one that comes in white and has an extended keyboard). Can I do this?
I tried to set it up but the intel imac doesn't recognize it, plus the G5 (which is in close proximity) keeps recognizing it instead.
