Use only half of a transition?

Looking to use only the first half of a transition between two clips.
Previously you could align a transition with the beginning or ending of a clip but not seeing that in FCPX...
Pic below illustrates. Essentially I want the first clip to transition away and the next one to just appear without any transition.
Possible in FCPX?

Select the clip in the storyline on one of the sides of the transition and type Command-Option-Up arrow. Select the end you want to apply the transition to and type Command-T to add the transition (or add your preferred transition.) FCPX will automatically convert the connected clip to a secondary timeline with the transition. The clips on the main storyline will be unaffected.

Mathematica 5.2.2 uses only one core

Using Activity Monitor, I have seen that Mathematica 5.2.2 uses only the second core, even if Wolfram says that it supports multi-core calculations.
So, firstly, I use only half of the power of my MBP C2D and secondly this could be dangerous for the processor because I use Mathematica all the day for work and this asymmetric use of the processor could damage it.
Do somebody know how to use both the cores?

This is a Mathematica problem. Contact their technical support. The Apple Discussions are limited to assistance with Apple products. We can't fix a problem with Mathematica software.
Furthermore, there's no reason why the use of one core will damage your processor.

I would like to inform you that not all the browsers and online PDF readers support copying text from a PDF. If you have opened the PDF online, please download PDF file to your computer and then open the file in Adobe Reader.
Please share a screenshot if the issue still persists.

Only half the cores/processors being used in bootcamp?

I have two mac pro computers that are both running bootcamp with Win 7 and both are giving me the same problem. One mac pro was purchased in 2011 and the other is early 2008.
When I run Cinibench on both these machines I find that only half the cores and processors are being used, more than doubling the render time for the same scenes run in OS X 10.6
I followed all the online installation guides and have had few problems with running all the programmes I use apart from Studio Max. Studio Max runs perfectly well on these computers but like I say only uses half the processing power that should be available.
Does anyone have any suggestions for where I might have gone wrong with the installation or what I can do to rectify this problem. Any suggestions would be most welcome

What you could do now is break up your video into smaller parts and render them out, then assemble them again as a whole.
I know this is not the best fix, but it might work.
You can duplicate an edit in the main screen, then delete the last bits and export,
do the same for the other half.
Then import the two bits (or more if you need) in a new edit.
Out of curiosity, can you post what format the video is in?
Copy a video straight from the camera to your computer.
Open it in Quicktime player, and with out playing type Apple + i
or Control + i for PCs
It should tell you lots of info about the video, and might help us to see what is wrong.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

Other people have been having similar problems with songs over a number of days.
Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting it from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

I have upgraded my iphone 3gs to ios 5.1 and backed up my photos etc on to my computer, but only half of my pictures were restored

I recently upgraded my iphone to ios 5.1 and before I did this I backed up all my photos etc on to my itunes. When the upgrade was complete, all of my photos and videos had not been restored and some of them will not display or play.
I did a restore from my back up and approx only half of them were restored.
Can these missing pictures and videos be recovered

The iOS5 upgrade has made a mess of the bluetooth connectivity. iPhone4 was paired perfectly to 2012 VW GTI and played all playlists fine. After upgrade, can see the song, see the timer counting down as if it is playing, but no sound. AND iPhone 4s paired paired with 2008 BMW handsfree telephone before the update, now I can't use the phone in the car. WHAT GIVES??? Anyone with ideas out there???

I spend some time on these boards every day, so I can see things are going better and better.
I like the new Discussions better than the previous, especially everything that comes with this new ability to put much more on one page (like being able to see A LOT (not only five) of "Recent topics in this category", or that the topic's titles can be longuer than before, or being able to read the whole thread without jumping to "the next 15 posts" like before. I set "My Posts" to "50", this too was not possible before. Etc.)
Now my request:
At first I thought, like many others, that the "blue dot" and the "blue half-dot" were too small, and that we couldn't see the small grey "New!" because it was not red.
Now after all this time since Nov14, I finally understood what was wrong, because
(1) the new kind of eye fatigue I didn't experienced before, and
(2) a change in my computer's room lighting configuration.
The real problem is not the blue dot size (altough I'm sure if it was a square it would work better), it is its environment.
We have a white line after a light blue line, and this is a great feature to differenciate between topics. Works great within a thread too, to differenciate posts.
But one side effect of this is that the whole page "feels" slightly blue.
I'm not sure, but a human eye physicist could perhaps explain another kind of (more insidious?) side effect caused by the alternance of lines. Perhaps depending on which color are chosen for them?
Anyway, there is no problem with a page that "feels" blue, when the text is black.
The problem starts when the text ALSO is blue. Especially light blue...
I find the text blue color too light. Even the "visited link" purple is too light.
Given that the background is blueish, I mean. Otherwise it'd be fine.
This was not easy to understand, because the [defect/effect] is not obvious: the overall picture is nice.
But it became obvious to me when I saw that I have no problem IF I set my screen's brightess to "very bright".
New Discussions: for day time use only?
==> Please, would it be a problem (or too difficult to set perhaps?), to try a darker blue text for two or three weeks, see if we like it better? (along with a slightly darker purple for the visited links).

Source monitor and program monitor boxes will not display video in full only half

I have adobe premiere pro cs6 and source monitor and program monitor boxes will not display video in full only half. So the top half of both monitors are black and the bottom half is where the video displays. But you can see that the video is missing the top part. Like people's heads are cut off and can only see body. How can i fix this so premiere pro cs6 will use the full monitors boxes to display my video?

ITunes is only Half-syncing

I bought an iPhone 4S last week. Just upgraded to Snow Leopard and I'm running iTunes 10.5.3 now. During the week while I waited to get the upgrade disc, I synced the iPhone with my girlfriend's laptop (a Windows computer) and created the iPhone name as well as syncing some movies and music from my account (signed in on her iTunes). I just hooked my iPhone up to my iMac for the first time with all the upgraded specs, but now it's only half upgrading.
The contacts, calendars, and applications synced up no problem, but I can't put any of my music, ringtones, movies, or books from my iTunes onto the iPhone 4S now. Do I have to restore the iPhone to factory settings and just re-register it with my iMac as the main PC it will be using? What does a restore entail anyways? If anybody can think of some things to try in order to help me get my music and other media onto the iPhone, I'd be really grateful.
By the way, when I was syncing the applications a few hours ago, the computer screen suddenly went blank and it seemed to crash. I had to do a hard shut down holding the power button to resolve the problem, and afterwards synced back up with the iMac, but couldn't put any of the said media onto it. Please help me sort this out!

So nobody has any idea about how to fix this? I was trying to restore my phone and was going to redo everything from a backup, but it wouldn't even let me do that. Guess I'll take a trip to the Apple Store this weekend when I'm finished working.

firefox with yahoo home page opens only half way on the laptop screen. That is first half of the laptop screen is blank while the yahoo window will start on 2nd half horizontally. all web sites will also be displayed on half of the screen (2nd half). in case of other browsers such as internet explorer or chrome all web windows will display fully on the screen.I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Firefox but the problem has persisted. so much so i have stopped using FIREFOX FOR BROWSING. IPod Mini playing only half a song

I'm having a problem with my iPod mini. I uploaded a bunch of cd's onto my iPod last night. During the last cd my computer and iPod froze for about an hour. So I did the unthinkable and unhooked my iPod. Then all of my songs wouldn't play, so I deleted everything. Now when I upload songs, only half the song will play or sometimes the whole song will play but then the next song will only play a few seconds. It's very frustrating! What should I do?

What I suggest doing is using your ipod updater software to reset your mini to Factory Standards. Then, if you receive any problems during updating, there should be a little green keyboard with an arrow on your start toolbar by the time. It's called "Safely Remove Hardware" and you can use that to end the connection with your computer. And usually when compuers freeze, they should go back to normal within at least a day at the longest.
