Use Oracle BI Standard Edition One with multiple instances

Hi!
Our problem is that we have four resource instances (one for testing, and three with datas from different customers) and we do not know how to switch in Oracle BI Standard Edition One between them. For us it seems that is not possible.

BI SE one is restricted to one RDBMS data source.
2.2.1 Oracle BI Standard Edition One usage
You can install Oracle BI Standard Edition One on a machine with up to two CPUs, and it can serve from five to 50 users. Oracle Warehouse Builder can pull data from any source, but the target database is limited to the included Oracle Database. Oracle BI and Oracle BI Publisher data sources are limited to the included Oracle Database, exactly one other database, and as many flat file data sources (for example, spreadsheets) as you require.

  • Oracle Database Standard Edition One's Cost

    Dear all
I am very interest on the Oracle Database Standard Edition One, (US$149 per user (minimum five users)) includes the functionality and the cost (only US$ 149*5). However, I would like to know that is there any hidden cost for it? (e.g. maintaince fee etc.) Meanwhile, is there any backward compatible for the such license (i.e. I buy 10g version but use 8/8i version in production)
Anyone can has such experience and share for it?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

There is generally a lot of confusion around Standard Editoin One. Here is my understanding, along with rationale and links supporting my understanding.
    1) Standard Edition One was NOT part of Oracle8i, and NOT part of Oracle9i release 1.
Oracle's "Oracle9i Family of products" document, released shortly after 9iR1, does not mention SE1. http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/oracle9i/pdf/o9i_family_features.pdf
    2) Standard Edition One MAY be part of Oracle9i Release 2 family, but it's not likely.
On metalink, there are a few 'forum' documents that discuss SE1 and Oracle9i. However, document #530049.994 from forum thread "Is Standard Edition One available in 9i/9ir2", dated 05-OCT-2004 says SE1 is a 10g new thing. (This post should be available in these forums.)
    3) No-one purchasing a new license should be installing a fresh copy of Oracle8i and probably not Oracle9i
You purchase the license primarily to obtain (be able to purchase) support. Oracle8i is no longer under support (except through an exorbitantly priced extended support contract) and Oracle9i is abount to be mved to extended support. The question is ... why?
    4) Personal Edition is NOT being replaced by SE1.
The Standard Edition One is a subset of Standard Edition - mainly missing RAC, so it is limited to one machine only. From the Oracle Database 10g Licensing document we note that the Personal Edition provides ALL FEATURES AND OPTIONS of the Enterprise Edition, except RAC.
It is fairly obvious from this that Personal Edition is targetted at developers who need metalink access, whereas Standard Edition One is targetted at workgroups that would consider using SQL Server STabdard/Workgroup Edition.

  • Does Oracle Database Standard Edition One 10.2 has HTML DB ?

Does Oracle Database Standard Edition One has HTML DB ?
    Hi,
My company plans to buy Oracle Database Standard Edition One for a small project. Does this have HTML DB option ?
    Please advice,
    Thx,

    According to the documentation:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/pdf/Oracle_HTML_DB_2.0_Data_Sheet.pdf
Oracle HTML DB is a standard feature of Oracle Database 10g, available in Standard One, Standard and Enterprise Edition at no additional charge.

  • Can I use Oracle database Standar Edition One?

    Hi,
In what versions of database can use Oracle Lite, to my central Database?
Can Oracle Lite support Oracle Standar Edition ONE?
In the official documentation only mentions Enterprise Edition and Standar Edition
    Thanks in advance

Just quickly viewing oracle's datasheet on the product, I don't see why you couldn't. I don't think it is supported to work with Oracle Mobile Server though. Also, the maximum CPUs supported are 2 on Standard One. Depending on how many mobile users you require, this could be a bottleneck.

  • Oracle Database Standard Edition One

I have several Microsoft Access databases (ugh) that thankfully will be shelved to be replaced with Oracle products. I plan on getting Oracle Database SE One because that best fits my #users/#processors. In shopping for the best products to fit my needs, I'm finding it is not exactly intuitive what product I should get?
I will need a front end, accessible on-line (secure connection) as similar to Access' VBA forms, and reports.
I've seen Oracle Programmer, Oracle Internet Developer, Oracle Application Server, Oracle Forms, and countless other products, and I am just not sure what it is I want?
Thanks in advance for your time.

You may want to consider HTML DB, which comes bundled with the Oracle database. It is positioned as a way to get lots of smaller-scale applications into Oracle, which is generally what you have when dealing with Access databases. Plus, you don't need to buy anything beyond the database. If you have seen http://asktom.oracle.com, that was built with HTML DB.
An excellent HTML DB resource page is available at http://htmldb.oracle.com
There are a number of HOW-TO documents for HTML DB here:

    Hello,
Here is the basic difference between Standard Edition One and Enterprise Edition
Oracle Database Standard Edition One :
Oracle Database Standard Edition One delivers unprecedented ease of
use, power, and performance for workgroup, department-level, and Web
applications. Standard Edition One can only be licensed on servers with
a maximum capacity of two processors.
    Oracle Database Enterprise Edition :
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition provides the performance,
availability, scalability, and security required for mission-critical
applications such as high-volume online transaction processing (OLTP)
applications, query-intensive data warehouses, and demanding Internet
applications. Oracle Database Enterprise Edition contains all of the
components of Oracle Database, and can be further enhanced with the
purchase of the options and packs.

  • To create standby database using oracle 10g standared edition

my producation database is oracle 10G standard edition .Can i implement a oracle dataguard or standby database using standard edition licenses.if standby database is possiable in standard edition .what are the steps for creating a standby database using oracle 10g standard edition.

    General answer is http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/editions.htm#BABJICBB.
For Data Guard you cannot :
    - use instance parameters to automatically send archived redo logs
    - use instance parameters to resolve archived redo logs gaps
    - create a logical standby
    - use SQL statements to do switchover / failover
    - use Data Guard Broker.

  • BI 11G Standard Edition One: can the iOS client work with it?

Is it possible to run the iOS (iPhone/iPad) BI client with BI 11G Standard Edition ONE? Anyone tried?
    Thanks a lot in advance

nonsense - if you have only 2 sockets (include the multi-chip factor when calculating the number of sockets -- see my posting) and not using the rest of the sockets and your motherboard allows it - it should be no problem in licensing. The problem arises if your socket count goes more than 2 by installing another CPU -- then you need to upgrade to the proper Oracle license.
remember, if this is a Linux box, and you installed a single (1) dual-core CPU (AMD or Intel Xeon for example), then the socket count is 1x2x0.5=1 socket (you are paying single processor license for SE1), if you install another dual-core CPU, then your socket count becomes 2 (which is the max # of sockets for SE1) and you pay 2 x processor license. if you install another dual-core CPU, then you have 3 sockets and you need SE license (3 x processor license for SE for the same box).
    note:
    ===============
apparently, when it comes to SE1 and SE licensing, the MCM (Multi-Chip-Module) definition becomes extremely important. If it is a Power 5 cpu, it is definitely an MCM, for AMD Opteron Barcelona CPU - it is not MCM. For Xeon, yes it uses MCM but the word is that when some folks called their Oracle Sales rep, they were told it is not MCM (even Intel said, it utilized MCM technology for that particular Xeon CPU). I guess it depends what your Sales rep tells you or what your research reveals for the CPU you are planning to use. Here is a related URL, for those who interested:
    http://www.pythian.com/news/1009/recent-changes-to-oracle-se-licensing-rules-higher-price
I wish there was a clear MCM definition in Oracle's OLSA (such as a table similar -- but more detailed -- to the newly updated core count table).
    hope this proves helpful.

  • Is Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One available for purchase?

Is Oracle Application Server Standard Edition One available for purchase? I don't see it listed in the online Oracle store as available.
More information about this version of OAS can be found at http://www.oracle.com/appserver/feature_seone.html Would like to know
    1) when it will be available
    2) the differences between this version and OAS standard edition.
    Thanks
    Dev

    Yes,
Oracle Linux 5.5 is actually inline with the related version of Red Hat linux as it runs on the same kernel.
So, yes, it is certified on this environment.
Also remember that OBIE Standard Edition is functionally the same ast OBIE Entprise Edition, the core difference are the licensing limitations of the Standard Edition which is based on the # of end-users.
Please award points if this was helpful.

I haven't tried but I think it will be successful with mssql server standard edition also. The following link gives the key difference between standard and enterprise edition.
