Use PC Mouse with A Beige?

Hi.
Is there any way to modify a PC type mouse for use on a Beige? All my mice are just about shot...cleaning the dust bunnies off the little inside wheels and cleaning the track ball isnt cutting it anymore. I think the cables have just about had it too.
I just spent half an hour futzing around with 3 of them and I'm pretty fed up.Going USB isnt an option because all my PCI slots are maxed out.And I have a few PC mice around here that would gladly get rewired, etc. so I can continue using my Beige.
Is this possible? Or is there some kind of tutorial around about ripping these old ADB mice apart and repairing them?
Thanks.

ADB mice are very simple devices. But they sometimes do get so filthy deep inside, and you need to open them to clean more.
ADB mice are held together with two Phillips screws. Look at the bottom of the mouse. The serial number is NOT printed on the plastic. That is a sticker, and it covers the heads of the screws.
When you have all the dust bunnies out, also take a look at the rollers. They get caked up with skin flakes and skin oils embedded with cookie crumbs, and the mouse becomes "jumpy". Occasionally the ball needs to be de-glazed by gently scraping it or by scrubbing it with an eraser.

  • Using external mouse with MacBook Pro - how to right-click in Mac OS X?

can i do this on my Mac? I use a mighty mouse with my laptop.

    Hi Pubikars,
To have right-click functionality enabled in Mac OS X, open “System Preferences”.
Select “Keyboard and Mouse”, then select “Mouse”.
Set the right side button to “Secondary Button”.
    I hope that this helps.

  • Using external mouse with Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I'm using an external Dell USB keyboard and mouse with my Macbook Pro. They work ok, but there seems to be a bit of 'drag' when I use the mouse. It's difficult to describe, but when I move the mouse slowly the pointer seems to drag, or slip...it's not matching the movement I'm making with the actual mouse. It's not so bad when I make bigger or faster movements, just when I'm using it slowly or precisely.
It's very distracting, and is even making my wrists ache.
Any idea how I can stop this happening - do I need to find a driver to fix the issue?
    Thanks for reading.

Are you using an external monitor? The 24" LED Cinema Display?
I saw a post in one of the other forums where several people were having this issue -- they all had external monitors attached, and mostly all 24" LED Apple Displays. The type and make of the mouse seemed to have no relevance, and the issues seem to impact the trackpad as well. It is hard to describe the "feel" and "lagging" effect of this problem.
Nearly all people in the post had the monitor and laptop power adapter plugged into the same outlet/powerstrip. After moving one of the cords to a different outlet, this seemed to solve the problem for nearly everyone. Odd, I know.
I'm gonna try it and I'll keep you posted.

There actually is a type of "pointer" native to iOS. it's part of the AssistiveTouch feature,  used to replicate multitouch gestures with one finger. You just can't control it with a mouse.
Anyway, as far as I can discern the iPad does not use nanotechnology in any part of its construction.

  • Can I use a mouse with an iPad air?

With Office 365 now available on my iPad Air, I would like to be able to use a mouse, mostly for the Excel SS's I create / use. Using a finger doesn't always work so well especially when trying to highlight sections at a time. ( my finger tends to be a little to fat sometimes and I have not had much luck with a stylist) Outside of that I can get by with a keyboard pretty well and yes even my finger.

    Try going to Settings-->General-->Accessibility-->Zoom

  • Can you use a mouse with an ipad air?

We recently purchased an iPad Air.  With my wife's work, sometimes she has to access a web site from home that uses adobe flash.  we discovered a browser that allows her to access that site.  Now because of the complexity of the site, she would need a keyboard and preferably a mouse.  I know that you can sync a keyboard to the iPad using bluetooth.  My question is, can you also sync a wireless mouse to the iPad?  If you can sync both the keyboard and mouse, it would greatly reduce our need for a PC laptop.  Any suggestions welcome.

You cannot use a mouse as it defeats the point of a MacBook. You can although have a keyboard for the iPad which allows word processing and simple things like typing emails. Hope this helps

  • So to use a mouse with iPad

I Use iMovie a lot and the iPads great but would love the ease of editing with a mouse, I saw the videos for jbking and installing a mouse, so should I?

That said, this question comes up a couple of times a year. iPad and iMovie are designed as for touch and they are exceptionally elegant in that use. I simply don't understand why people want to much it up with a mouse.

  • Can I use USB mouse with bluetooth keyboard?

I am in need of some help. I recently got my iMac about 3 months ago and absolutely hate the magic mouse and want to use my rocketfish usb mouse along with the bluetooth mac keyboard. Is this possible or just wishful thinking on my end? I have searched everywhere for drivers and answers with programs etcetera and have came out empty. Help?

I've done so (and even tested it on my Macbook and the USB mouse works fine) but for some reason it will not interface with my iMac - and I've tired multiple USB ports and still nothing, which is why I brought up the keyboard being bluetooth I didn't know if that somehow may interfer with the USB mouse when the bluetooth keyboard is turned on and paired. I am pretty good when it comes to computers so I know what to look for and what I am doing (for the most part) but this has me stumped.

  • Using Mighty Mouse with 10.7.2

My center button (the scroll wheel) will no longer bring up Mission Control after upgrading to 10.7.2.  The physical button is still working, so if I change it to function as an Expose button then it works fine.  Anyone have any advice to get this working propperly again?

    Hi Macrobin,
Thanks for the answer. After the plain left mouse click, activating Mission Control with the center mouse button is the one I used most often.
Small addition to your answer: you have to first set Mission Control for that button in the Mouse Preference pane and then assign Mouse Button 3 in the Mission Control Pref. In my case it shows a warning about conflicting buttons, but Mission Control works. Switching that button function in the Mouse Prefs afterwards (even back to Mission Control) will kill the functionality again. So there is definitely something wrong with the Mouse Preference pane after the 10.7.2 update.

  • I am left-handed. I can use a mouse with my right hand well, but for a certain drawing app named Sketchbook Express I would love to reverse the buttons on my mouse. Is there any way to do that?

Seriously. Can someone direct me to that setting, or add it?

Well, in later OSes, Mouse buttons can be switched in the Mouse Pref Pane, no idea if Magic Mice work like that.
