Use photos from Aperture 3 as Wallpapers problem

I chose photos from Aperture projects as desktop wallpaper by right-clicking on desktop>change desktop background. But the photos all shrank to maybe half size on desktop. I used to store my wallpapers in iphoto, so I can process them a lit bit when I want to. I am planning on migrating from iphoto to aperture 3, and I know aperture 3 can do a much better job in processing. But unable to display wallpapers in right size really bothers me. Anybody can help with this? Thanks in advance.

You might find reading [this article|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3781|Aperture 3: How to optimize Aperture for the best looking slideshow] useful in expanding on what PilotGuy74 has said. Although it's written about slideshows, what they explain there applies to your wallpapers situation too.
I have already missed the simplicity of iphoto. Maybe aperture is just too pro to me.
Don't be put off. Aperture is a very complex powerful application - you can't expect to learn how to use it all, all at once. Take it a bit at a time. Learn a little as you go and you'll find that, over time, you will develop your skills with it.

  • Using Photos from Aperture in FCP X

I am brand new to FCP X, and am trying to use photos that I have in Aperture.  When I bring the photos to the timeline, they are much smaller files that the files I have in Aperture.  How can I get the full version into my project in FCP?

Thank you for your reply.  I tried that, and it did fill the frame, which will be very useful on this project.
The problem I am having is that in Aperture the photos are failry big, for example, in Aperture one image is 1.66 MB
but when I see it in FCP it is a small file size, 49.6 KB:
    Any ideas?

  • Sync photos from Aperture to iPhone 4 problems

I have a couple of smart albums set up in Aperture, when i select them to be sync's with the iPhone, the photos are sync'd in some totally random order it very difficult to locate specific pictures.
Any ideas in how to sort out the sync order please?
    Thanks
    John

For some stupid reason, pictures from Aperture synced to an iPhone/iPod Touch are ordered by file name instead of date on the mobile device.
If you sort the pictures manually rather than by date within Aperture, it will be ordered correctly in your Album or Event on the iPhone. Either switch it in the pulldown menu or drag a thumbnail to a new place and then back to it's original location and it will change the ordering to manual.

  • ITunes - Problem recognising photos from Aperture 3

I'm having issues with iTunes recognising my photos from Aperture 3.
For example, in my default Aperture library, in one of my projects it has about 2000 photos but when i went to the iTunes photo tab for my devices (iPhones, AppleTV or iPad) and select that particular project, it indicates that there are only 229 photos.
I've tried to fix this issue by creating a new library and copying photos from my default to the new library and same issue is still there. I've tried to fix it by deleting all the ipod photo cache within Aperture 3 package content.
Nothing worked. This problem only started about 3 months ago. Before, iTunes would recognise all 2000 photos within the project and sync to my devices all the photos. Now iTunes only sync across 229 photos.
For each device, whether it is my AppleTV, my iPhone or iPad it all says 229 photos.
My AppleTV has about 40 GB spare and my iPad has more then 15 GB spare and iTunes still reports 229 Photos for that project.
    Could someone please help me!?
    Thanks in advance

Aperture creates preview images that contain all the adjustments you've made to the master image. These previews are what is shared with other apps such as iLife or if you drag and drop an image out of Aperture to another app or the Finder.
The size of the previews is controlled in Aperture Preferences. Open Aperture Preferences and click on the Previews icon at the top. In the bottom of this dialog there is a popup menu titled "Photo Preview". This is the setting that controls the size of the image Aperture shares with iPhoto. Change this setting to the size you want.
But wait, you're not done yet. Changing this setting does nothing until a new preview is created in Aperture. If you right click an image in Aperture there is a menu item near the bottom named "Update Preview". But what you really need is "Generate Preview". Right click the image and then hold down the option key and you'll see "Update Preview" change to "Generate Preview". Choose "Generate Preview" and a new preview will be created using the new size setting you made in Preferences. You need to do this for each and every image you wish to share at the larger size. You can select multiple images before selecting the "Generate Preview" command to speed things up.
Now when you share an image from Aperture to iPhoto the new larger file will be used. The advantage of smaller previews is your Aperture library will also be smaller but the trade off is what you get in other apps that are using your images.

  • Cannot sync photos from Aperture using iTunes

Yesterday I took 16 photos using a Canon 5D Mark III and uploaded them into Aperture and created a new project to hold them. The I wanted to transfer them into my iPhone so I went to iTunes, connected the iPhone via USB cable and in the left hand side bar under Photos I clicked "Sync Photos", selected "Chose photos from Aperture" and "Events from the last 3 months" and in the events list that appears below, the new project appears checked. The I clicked on Sync and left the iPhone and the MBP connected overnight and it stayed in Step 7 of 7 Importing Photos....
Any ideas on why I have not been able to import that project from Aperture into the iPhone using iTunes?

Make sure everything is installed and up to date...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
    Updating iPod's Software
Also, try syncing from a different folder with photos. See if that one works.
Finally, see if this works/applies/gets you anywhere...

  • Dark photos from Aperture, iPhoto or Drag and drop

All imported photos (from aperture, iphoto or drag&droped) whitin a project are very dark in the viewer, and in the final video (itunes, export with several options...). The histogram levels of the image are low. The preview image in the project looks fine.
I tried repair permissions with disk Utility, system clean with Onyx... the problem remains.
    Thanks

I'm having the same problem, but only after I installed the iMovie 9.0.1 update. Before then my still images looked fine when imported.
But now, my pictures are coming up so dark as to be unusable. I was forced to export them as slideshow movies from iPhoto and import them as clips to iMovie last time I tried to use still images.

  • When importing photos from aperture photos are blurry

I have been making a video and up to now no problems. Then today i was working on it and when i started adding some more photos from aperture they were fuzzy and blurry.
In aperture they are crisp and clear but the minute i put them in imovie they are blurry and not useable.
I have imported photos from aperture and iphoto both and had no issues so not sure what is going on today.

I think I just figured this out.
Go into Aperture preferences and go to "previews" tab.  Set "photo preview" to "don't limit" and turn the quality all the way up.  Then select all your photos, go to the "photos" menu, hold down the option key and click "generate previews".
It appears that the library sharing is just using the generated previews from Aperture which default to poor quality.  You need to turn up the quality and then force a re-render of all your previews.  iMovie should pick this up (but won't update your slideshow...).
Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed by those defaults.   Wasted hours of my time as I rebuilt the slideshow with better versions of my photos.
    Hope that helped.

  • Cannot import photos from aperture

Up until yesterday I've had no problems importing photos from Aperture (3.1.3) during the iPhone (4.3.5) sync process. Now iTunes (10.4.1) presents me with a dialogue window containing the following message: "The iPhone "xxx" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found." The photo files are there in Aperture. If I uncheck all of the detail boxes, but leave the "Sync Photos from Aperture" box checked the sync process completes successfully, but no photos were copied to the iPhone because none were selected. I've rebooted the iMac, etc. And, of course, if I leave the "Sync Photos from Aperture" box unchecked the sync process completes successfully.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    George

I thought my core issue was that my single library has this iPhoto icon associated with it.  I'd prefer it to be considered as an Aperture library.
Are you looking at the correct libary in the Finder? That icon is puzzling.
What are the versions of iPhoto and Aperture that you are using?
If you have upgraded your photolibrary by the latest versions of Aperture (Aperture 3.4.5) and iPhoto (iPhoto 9.4.3) the icon should be the same for both iPhoto libraries and Aperzure libraries. If you are not yet using the latest version, consider to upgrade, because you are missing out on some bug fixes.
The "Kind" displayed in the Finder will depend on the filename extension. A library created by iPhoto should have the extension "photolibrary" and the Aperture libraries "aplibrary".
Check also the settings in Image Capture:
In Image Capture you can set the application to open for each device individually. It might be possible, that you have set a diffrent application to open in Image Capture: I have set all my devices to "No Application" in "Image Capture". This way I can decide, if I want to open iTunes or Aperture, when I connect my iPad or iPod.
If you are really troubled by the "Kind = Photo Library" you can convert that by importing the iPhoto Library into a new, empty Aperture Library. Then Aperture will set up the internal database files with the "Kind = Aperture Library".

  • How can I export photos from Aperture with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.

How can I export photos from APERTURE with a new sequence and ignore the embedded JPEG number? Have tried renumbering to no avail.
    has anyone resolved this issue?
This is now the second big Problem with using Apple's Appeture with NO apparent FIX...
Aperture has NO DIRECT way to Burn to a CD/DVD & apparently NO way to RE-SEQUENCE the numbering system????
ANYONE... I wish APPLE would address/fix these 2 problems... LIGHTROOM I guess is next?

    Hi David,
Coming in and whining loudly is rude.  We are all volunteers here, voluntarily sharing our expertise so that users like you can make the most of their time with Aperture.  Speaking just for myself:  although I do care about your success with software (it's why I'm here), I don't care what software you use.  If you want to use Lightroom, do so, and post your questions in an appropriate forum.
Burning files to a CD is a file operation done at the system level (it is built into OS X).  Aperture lets your create sharable image-format files from your Images.  You then use OS X's tools to burn those files to a CD.  Iirc, you can set up a "Burn Folder" in Finder, into which you can export files created from your Images, and with a single click burn your CD.
Naming the files you create by exporting your Images can be tricky.  There are _many_ possibilities.  Some things can't be done.  Sequencing can be done in a number of ways (see Léonie's answer above).  What have you tried?  What was the result?  In what way did this differ from what you expected?

  • How do I transfer photos from aperture and iPhoto to bridge?

How do I transfer photos from Aperture and iPhoto to Adobe Bridge.  I am using Photoshop CS6.  Many of my original photos were stored as raw files.

Here's how to access Mac iPhoto images for use in Photoshop
and so that they may be viewed by choosing that folder in Bridge..
    1. In the Finder, navigate to Users > [user name} > Pictures > iPhoto Library.
    2. Control-click (Right-click) the iPhoto Library file and choose Show Package Contents.
    3. A Finder window opens that shows the contents. The Masters folder (or called Originals folder) contains all of the photographs that are in iPhoto.
Photoshop cannot access this folder, but if you make a duplicate of the folder, the dupe will be accessible -- so:
    4. Control-click (Right-click) the folder named Masters (or Originals) and choose Duplicate.
5, Drag the duplicate folder which is named "Masters copy" or “Originals copy” from the iPhoto Library Finder window to the Desktop.
    6. Open images in Photoshop from file on desktop or view them in Bridge.
7  Rename the folder and move it elsewhere (probably to the Pictures folder), if desired.
And here is a Forum thread related to Aperture-to-Bridge

  • After upgrade to IOS8 can't import photos from Aperture

I upgraded to IOS8, reset my iPad to factory settings and reinstalled all my apps from scratch.
When go into iTunes and I select to import photos from Aperture on my Mac it hangs.
I have an old iPhoto library on my Mac and if I select photos from that it works.
I have switched off everything to do with iCloud after seeing some posts that this might be causing the problem, but not a solution for me.
(I have over 28,000 photos in my Aperture library).

Did you turn on iCloud Photo Library? I suspect it may remove the ability to sync photos and videos between Macs and iOS devices.

  • Full photos from Aperture to iphoto

I'm new to aperture but I'm trying to import full quality photos from aprture to iphoto, however all I can manage to get in iphoto is thumbnails a few hundred kb worth...Does anyone know how to transfer full quality jpegs over after editing with aperture..ps I can't get raw files off my canon 450d either...
    cheers David

    Davo
The only way to get "full photos" from Aperture to iPhoto is to export them from Aperture ant then import them to iPhoto.
If you use the Media Browser in iPhoto (File -> Show Aperture Library) then you can drag Previews over. You can increase the quality if the pics available to iPhoto this way by increasing the quality of the Previews.

  • When I export photos from Aperture, the pixel dimensions are halved thus losing data.  I have set the export preferences to export at original size, to no avail.  This happens even if I just drag to the desktop and then back, or if I export into my iphoto

When I export photos from Aperture to desktop or iphoto I lose pixels.  The pixel dimensions are halved, despite setting the export preference to export at original size.  Anyone know why or how to correct this?

Dragging an Image from Aperture exports the Preview.  Preview parameters are set on the Previews tab of Aperture preferences.
Are you seeing the same results when you export using one of the export commands?
Is so, confirm that the settings in the selected Image Export Preset ("Aperture➞Presets➞Image Export") truly represent those in the Image Export Preset's name.

  • Can't use photos from photostream in mail, web an other applications

Isn't it possible any more to use photos from photostream to paste them in emails or web forms? I always took photos with my iPhone and then without syncing I used the photos for ebay on my macbook. Now, with mavericks, you can choose "photos" to paste them, but the photos of the photostream are not shown! Thanks for helping, FRED

    Kari,
what is your MacOS X version and  iPhoto version?
If you cannot  delete photos from the iLifeAssetManagement folder, then you have a permissions problem. You should be able to do that. Try to fix the permissions for that part of your User Library.
Navigate again to the  iLifeAssetManagement folder as described above. Then select the Folder and press ⌘I (clover leaf, capital letter I) for "Get Info". You shoud see an ifo panel like this:
Disclose the "Sharing & Permissions" brick by pressing the disclosure triangle. Press the padlock in the lower right corner and enter your administrator password. Make sure your user account .....(Me) has Rad &Write permissions, change the permissions if necessary. Then click the padlock and select to apply to enclosed items.
Then try again, if you now can delete photos from the Stream.
