Use Plug-ins in x64
None of the plugins I'n downloading are showing up in x64 PS. My guess is that they are just x32 version.
So is there any way for me to get them to work in x64 bit?

Are they installing into the right directory.
E.g. Program Files / Adobe / Photoshop CS5 (64bit) / Plugins
Or, Desktop / your-name/computer-name / AppData / Roaming / Adobe / Plugins. (Make sure hidden folders are visible to see the AppData Folder.)
And in Photoshop Preferences / Plug-Ins, is the Additional Plug-ins Folder selected and a path defined?

Can I use plug-ins in iPhoto?
Can I use plug-ins in iPhoto? THe plug-ins are Neat Image and Noise Ninja.
Yes, there is a plug-in architecture for iPhoto, but as to whether these two will work with whatever version of iPhoto you have, you'll need to ask whoever makes them.

Updated Aperture today (3.4.3) running 10.8.2. Now I get hangs using plug-ins (NIK), and can't export (hangs/crashes). Anyone experiencing this?
Andrew,
In general, I've found the Nik plug-ins to be the least problematic of all that I use. Unfortunately you haven't provided enough information so that help can be focused on your problem. So here are some of the standard steps to take.
1. Make sure you are running Nik's latest versions. There were earlier ones that didn't work properly with ML.
2. Which plug-ings are the problem?
3. Have you tried the repair/rebuild option on your Aperture database? Often what appears to be problems with a 3rd party item actually stem from some sort of fault in the database.
4. If you're really stuck do the following steps: A. Delete the Nik plug-ings. B. Repair/rebuild the database. C. Download Nik's latest versions. D. Reinstall. E. Test.
This is a generic problem solving approach that fixes many things. Also, you should examine if it is a particularly type of file or set of photos or something specific in the images you are working on. A corrupt image, for example, can produce really weird things on occasion.
Hopefully some of this is useful. If not, more detail is needed.

I am using Mozilla Firefox and it is now bugging me. After updating it, it is now asking me to always click to activate and use plug-ins like Adobe Reader, Flash, Youtube videosand other plug-ins. I click on activiate all plug-ins but it still asks me to do it each time that I try to use Flash, Adobe Reader, watch a You Tube Video or anything. Why won't Mozilla Firefox automatically actaivate the plug-ins like it used to do. I tried to follow directions on our website for fixing this but it did not work. I am running
Windows XP. Please let me know how to fix this. Thank you.In the past, to protect you from [https://support.mozilla.org/kb/use-plugins-play-audio-video-games plugins] that have stability or security issues, Firefox could only turn off the problematic plugin. Now Firefox can prevent the plugin from running automatically (which prevents many issues) and then let you choose to run or update the plugin. See [[Why do I have to click to activate plugins?]] for more info.
If you'd like to Disable Firefox's Click-to-Play feature,
# Type ''about:config'' in the address bar and press Enter.
# Press the big button to bypass the warning.
# In the search box, paste ''plugins.click_to_play''
# In the search results, double-click ''plugins.click_to_play'' to set its value to '''false''' -
Loading Interruptions after Using Plug-Ins
Hello! I'm using LR3 (still) with plug-ins for PS and Nik Dfine. Whenever I use either plug-in and return to LR, a "loading" update occurs about every 15 seconds for about a second. This is especially annoying during Brush operations. It not only interrupts what you're doing, but if caught in the middle of a Brush stroke, that stroke is gone when "loading" ends; and if you were in Erase, the brush gets reset to Brush A/B.
My system configuration:
i5 2500K (not overclocked), 2.3 Ghz
8 MB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit LR3, CS4, Dfine also 64-bit
All programs on SATA drive C (Samsung Spinpoint)
Photo files on SATA drive F (Samsung Spinpoint)
LR cache and catalog on 64 GB SSD drive G
Cache 32 GB
Drive space 75% free
This seems to be the one issue my upgrade to a home-built hasn't solved. Having just emptied my cache, I just performed a Dfine noise-reduction on a fresh raw file (Canon 7D), then opened up Brush in LR. That alone was enough to see the issue.
Is there anything that can be done to improve performance with plug-ins?
Thanks kindly, ChrisChris,
This is a bug in LR3 and 4.
It got squashed in LR5. Upgrade to 5, I just tested it to make sure.
Thank you to the Lghtroom team.

I'm really hoping someone can help. I suspect this problem is new since I can't find a definitive answer.
When using the third party plug-in Superior Drummer 2, Logic Pro 9.1.8 frequently crashes giving problem report 'Logic Pro quit unexpectedly while using the Superior Drummer plug-in' followed by details.
This also happens when using Arturia Analog Laboratory. Similar problems have been reported by others using third party plug-ins.
Some have suggested removing the folder /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ProKit.framework and then installing ProKit Update 7. I've tried this without success. Once removed, attempting to install it only launches the alert 'a newer version of this software is already installed', which it patently isn't. Removing it also prevents Logic Pro from launching and requires the reinstallation of Mountain Lion.
Others say it's a problem with Mountain Lion and even Lion. Apparently, the above fix works with Snow Leopard but unfortunately, since I downloaded Snow Leopard from the app store, I can't revert back because it's no longer available.
I don't know whether the problem is with the plug-ins, Logic Pro, or the operating system but I do know that this is not uncommon. I haven't yet found anything to implicate the plug-ins. All have been updated to their latest versions. I can not verify whether the plug-ins worked in previous incarnations, with a previous operating system or Logic Pro since I've only ever used them with Mountain Lion on a MacBook Pro Retina 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
The current cacophony of forum discussion is roughly sounding out Mountain Lion as being the issue.
I'm in the dark here! HELP!!!The issue, according to other AAL users, is Arturia's drivers I am afraid to say.. The v1.5.2 ones work for some people but not others and they are waiting on a further update from Arturia to fix the issue. It isn't something that reinstalling ML or the Prokit for that matter.. fixes... unless you have some other issue with other plugins and software?

Ways to implement image resizing using plug-ins?
Hi Photoshop developers,
I'm a developer with a few Photoshop filter and selection plug-ins under my belt, and I have a good understanding of the SDK and tools and suites it provides. My next project is an algorithm for enlarging/resampling images to different pixel dimensions. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for or experience with the best combination of plug-in types to implement this.
Clearly, I can't just write it as a filter plug-in, since there is no way to change the image dimensions from within a filter.
I'd like the resized image to remain within Photoshop (as a new window or in the original one), so an export plug-in on its own is not sufficient.
Import plug-ins seem promising, since they allow the creation of a new document of the required size. However, as best I can tell from the Photoshop 6.0 SDK documentation, import plug-ins cannot access the image data from other open documents (or even the clipboard), nor do they provide any support for channel ports and the Channel Port suite.
My best idea at this stage is to create an export plug-in to provide the user interface and calculate the resized image, and then an import plug-in to import the resized image back into a new window. (I'm supposing a further automation plug-in would then be written to perform this export/import sequence.) The difficulty I see with this approach is how to communicate the resized image data between the two plug-ins. Since the resized image will potentially be very large, the ideal solution would be to store it in channels managed by the Channel Ports suite. However, I cannot see how the channel ports created in the export plug-in could be communicated to and used by an import plug-in. The alternative would be for the export plug-in to save the resized image to a temporary file on disk, however this seems unnecessary.
So, my questions, specifically, are:
a) Is it possible to create new channels using the Channel Ports suite (sPSChannelPorts->New()) in one plug-in, and have those channels persist to be used in another plug-in?
b) If so, how would the channel ports be communicated between the plug-ins?
c) Alternately, are there any alternative architectures available for implementing an image-resizing algorithm using the plug-in types that are available for Photoshop developers.
Any responses would be greatly appreciated; I know this is a low-traffic forum...
Thanks,

Does elements use plug ins?
I have a macbook pro & snow leopard. I bought a sony snap lab to print action photos at sports events.
The background template needs to go through this plug in specific for the snap lab.
So my husband has a pc. I was just going to buy the cheapest PS I could find & make the borders on my computer.
Then save them on the portable drive & have him open it on whatever cheap version I can find of elements with this snap lab program.
Any ideas? It won't work on my mac I've tried many different ways. I've even tried using rosetta. However, I have to uninstall snow leopard seems a lot easier to try it the way I mentioned. Thanks for your help. KarenI thought I could make the template on my computer on the mac.
Then put it on a hard drive & have the cheapest version of photo shop on his computer & just open it with that plug in.
I still don't understand what you want to do. Do you have to use a specific program to make this template? Why can't you just make a blank file? Please explain in more detail. What plug-in? On their web page I couldn't find any plug-ins. Maybe if you can provide a link.
The part about the snow leopard. I read that I could use the plug in on my mac & cs4 if I used rosetta which is an older os.
So I tried to download that & it said I could run it if I uninstall it.
No, that is not what rosetta is. Rosetta is a part of OS X for intel computers that allows you to use programs that were written for the pre-intel versions of OS X, like you'd have on a computer like a G5. You don't need to uninstall anything to get rosetta: when you open up a program, like Appleworks, for instance, that needs to run in Rosetta, if you are running 10.6, you will be prompted to install it. You do not download rosetta--it's on your system install disks.
You can run PSE 6 in rosetta, but not PSE 8 or 9, since adobe disabled that for PSE beginning with PSE 8. -

How Do You Use Plug-Ins?
I just downloaded a bunch of ES2 plug-ins for Logic and I cannot figure out how to get them into Logic. Any ideas? They are created specifically for Logic and are .PST
ThanksI suppose I should have explained what I was trying to do and it would have made more sense. I am trying to add ES2 oscillators to some Apple bass loops and the I/O on the channel strip has no more spaces when using Apple loops. I don't know why this would be impossible without creating a new channel, strip, instrument, etc. It seems like a pretty simple request; Apple bass loop + ES2 oscillation effects...

Batch file to "Disable" un-used plug-ins etc.
Hi Folks!!
I've got into the habit (from the good old, small PC, WinXP days) of disabling with the pre-fix ~ (tilde) method, all the presets and plug-ins that I never use as soon as I install Photoshop.
Doing it manually in those days was not too much of a hardship as maybe, at worst twice a year.
Now that I've upgraded(?) to Win7, I must have done a "clean" system re-install at least once a month, the manual method is getting a bit tedious.
I'd like to have batch script(s) to automate/semi-automate the process so that I could open a command prompt at the root (C:\) and tell it to go to the swatches folder and prefix A, C, and D leaving B, E, and F untouched, then move on to the brushes folder, patterns folder, plug-ins folder etc. etc..
I've got a list of my usual "suspects", I've tried to write one myself (with no knowledge of what I'm doing) and so far I've managed to (luckily, but not repeated!!) get the first one on the list renamed followed by 50 or so "The *** path is not recognised/ The *** path is not a correct command/ The syntax is incorrect/ That's not your dog on your path" etc. etc.
Is this at all possible? I'd settle for several batch files, one for each folder, that I could just type their names in whilst looking at my pretty desktop instead of traipsing through the system folders, if that's what it takes.
HELP!!
Yours

A corrected link to M$ answers (maybe)
Originally i did do a lot of the "disabling" to save space when I was running WinXP on an old Packard Bell with a 60gb main HDD (don't laugh, that was an "upgrade" from the 20gb HDD!!) Now I've gone up in the world to Win7 with (to me) a huge 320gb HDD it's more an aesthetics / efficiency thing.
First example, the drop down window you get when you hit "Save As..."
I've never yet used any of the formats in PS high-lighted in green, the yellows are "very seldom used" and the rest, yes I do use. So if I can "hide" the ones I don't use, and I know I can't hide them all, the ones I do use are not hiding in a multitude of others.
When it comes to the Colour Swatches, not books, in the Preset Manager, after I've loaded my own "ICO" files it can get quite horrendous!!
The Full House
Now after I've removed all the Pantone etc. that I never touch, leaving only a couple I was "advised" to on t'interweb plus my own collection of palettes, some of which may only contain four colours..
Oooh!! I can see me canvas again!!
So much neater!
Bear in mind I'm not actually deleting anything so if I ever do need them, they are only a tilde away!!
I disable any plug-ins I don't, didn't or couldn't use when on WinXP due to hardware restraints (well the PC was salvaged from a skip!!) and I've managed to live without them.
The same sort of thing goes for the brushes, I've assembled my own .abr's from the supplied Adobe sets that I may only just use and disabled all the rest.
For brushes you can also read File Formats, Actions, Custom Shapes and Gradients
The script "Wot I Ave Wrote" looks like this (abridged)
@echo off cls
set windrive=%1
echo The Adobe installed Plug-ins and Presets listed in the "Read Me" file will
echo will be prepended with a tilde (~) which will disable/hide them.
echo.
echo Do you wish to continue?

And that's about it, all the red bits I've borrowed from elsewhere so I'm none the wiser of what they really do!!
Any sites I've "visited" tell me that /1 /2 %WhoKnows% does "X", but not why it does!! So I gave up
Oh, BTW, using bridge as my guinea-pig as I never use it.
Could never get it to run on me XP machine so I looked elsewhere and I've never looked back again.

Using plug ins with Photoshop CC 2014
I have downloaded and installed Photoshop CC 2014 but none of my third party plug ins were automatically loaded.
I copied and pasted the relevant plug ins from previous version Plug in folder and some of them have appeared in my filters in CC 2014 but they do not work
In earlier versions all my filters opened in a separate layer but now they do not work at all even though the Nik filters do open but the effect does not apply.

Using Plug-Ins with GarageBand
Hi there
I am wondering if there are any plug-ins I can get that help me visualise equalisation bands within a song.
Cheers
TobyI found a cool free spectrum analyzer called sndpeek at http://soundlab.cs.princeton.edu/software/sndpeek/
Only thing is that it is standalone. -
I have had trouble using Plug-ins since I updated to LR3.3.
I cannot edit in any of my plug-ins .
Keep getting this message:
"Lightroom was unable to prepare the selected files at - - - - - - - - . It will not be opened".Well I spoke to Adobe yesterday am (I was able to
talk to someone that I could understand) and after 3 1/2 hours of trying (Sarah - the tech support ) finally discovered that I didn't have "permission" to do what I wanted to so - she went in and fixed it.
Fancy that - I didn't have permission. -
CC2014 crashes when using Plug-ins
Just updated to CC 2014. Anyone else having problems with 3rd party plug-ins? Magic Bullet and NewBlue are constantly crashing my system since I updated.
Did not have this problem with previous version of CC.Did update newblue ... Did not see update for MB...maybe I should let
Tech people at newbluefx know about my problem as well.

How to force 3/4G on iPhone with iOS7
I search around and so far can't find much info on this without a JB. I get a stronger EDGE signal than 3G so it's switching to EDGE a lot more than 3G. I'd like to force 3G only so I need to know how. This could be a deal breaker on an iPhone becau
