Use Profile to Delete Existing Settings

Is there any way that Profile Manager can be used to delete or remove existing settings on an iOS device?
For example, we will be migrating to a new mail server soon. I would like to use Profile Manager to send out a profile to all user iOS devices to add the new mail account AND remove the previous mail account.
I would also like to remove previous Calendar accounts and subscriptions as well as remove a Contacts account.
I cannot find anywhere in Profile Manager that it seems to allow for the removal, deletion or replacement of any existing settings. Is this just not possible with Profile Manager?
If this is not possible, what have others done in this situation to get the devices 'cleaned up'?
I understand that I am coming into a situation where the iOS devices were manually configured initially and now will have a profile installed. If I were to start fresh with iOS devices that were based on an initial profile install, would what I'm looking for be possible then? In other words, if the Mail/Calendard/Contact accounts were initially created/added via a profile, would modifying that initial profile (ie. removing the initial accounts) result in those accounts being removed on the iOS devices?
Thanks for any help as I get oriented to Profile Manager.
Specs: Profile Manager 2 from Mac OS X Server 2.11 running on Mountain Lion 10.8.2.

You can't remove or edit any settings that you haven't pushed a profile out for
If you've manually configured mail cal  etc PM can't edit or delete it
It will add another mail account cal account etc alongside the existing manual ones controlled by PM
If you want rid of the old manual mail, cal settings your going to have to touch each device and delete them
Your going to have to touch each device anyhow to get the devices  enrolled in PM if you have not already done so
If the devices were manually configured you won't have any profiles installed on the devices
Profiles appear in general, profiles xx number of profiles installed
Deleting these profiles will remove the settings
Yes with PM you can remove edit or add settings and push these out to devices, lock wipe etc
You'll need to open the appropriate ports and forwarding if your going to push settings out to devices that maybe outside your LAN
What I do is use apple Configurator to do a basic configuration with a profile to get the devices on my enrolment wifi
Install server certs and auto enrol the devices in PM to speed things up
PM is configured with user and device profiles for mail wifi VPN etc
Using apple Configurator speeds up the process, less time spent tapping away
If you use the default "settings for everyone" group in PM it's a user opt in download it's not pushed

  • Can idoc COND_A04 be used to update/delete existing pricing conditions?

    Hi all,
I am designing an interface from an external pricing system to SAP, and am currently looking at the COND_A04 idoc as a mechanism to load the prices into SAP.  In testing I've found that this idoc creates pricing conditions very nicely, but I'm wondering if the idoc can also be used to change existing pricing conditons or mark existing pricing conditions for deletion.  Has anyone ever done this with COND_A04?
I tried deleting an existing condition by populating E1KONH-KNUMH with the condtion record number of the existing condition, and populating E1KONP-LOEVM_KO (deletion indicator) with an 'X'.  Instead of marking the existing condition with the deletion flag, what this did was create a new condition record (same validity period and price) that is marked for deletion.  While functionally this does in fact delete the price (the previous condition is 'overlapped' by the new condition and therefore ignored going forward), it doesn't seem like a clean solution and the resulting change history is very confusing.
Are there are fields on the idoc that can be set to perform a true change or deletion, vs. simply creating a new condition record???  Any ideas will be most appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Allison

There could be numerous reasons for the IDoc failure because the message that you are getting is too generic. Btw, Is this the only message you get, check if there are more than 1 status 51 in your IDoc to get some more information.
Also see the longtext of the message by double clicking on the status message, probably you will get a more comprehensive reason for the failure.
If nothing of the above helps, try to see the message number and class and see where it is used in the posting program and put a break point at the spot where this message is triggered.

  • Can no longer open two Firefox tabs, have close using Task Bar/Processes. Some links won't activate on websites. As per support suggestion, have backed up profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox and replaced thingsetc

Can no longer open two Firefox tabs at the same time. Will disappear from screen but won't close - have to go to Task Bar/ Processes to close it, some links won't activate on websites. As suggested in the support area I have gone through the process of backing up my profile, deleted existing profile, removed firefox from computer, reinstalled profile in fresh folder, reinstalled firefox 6. I have done this twice for no effect - may work as it used to for a while (30mins) then gets back to its old tricks.
    It is a bit irritating.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • How do I access profile settings in ios 6? I used to be under general settings in ios 5.

I am trying to access profile settings in ios 6.0.1, but it is not there on my iphone 4s. It used to be under general settings in ios 5. Can anyone help? I am trying to delete a profile setting that I do not use anymore.

So, the profile section is the place where you can add, for example, a wifi profile from your school that is used for authentication, or a profile from freemyapps. This is the profile I am talking about. I am not able to find it on the 4s in ios 6 for some reason. Do you guys know? Would really appreciate it.

  • How can I delete an iCloud-Account that uses a not anymore existing email-adress?

Months ago my GMX-Account got blocked because it was hijacked by some SPAM-sending-********.
I recognized that when I was not able to log into my iTunes account and buy stuff anymore.
I changed the emailadress by setting up a new Account with a new ID I used from that day on - problem solved.
Plus: I deleted the email-adress as I was sick of it anyways - problem solved, too.
I changed all my IDs on iPhone and iPad to the new ID, except the one of the iCloud.
During that time I had already decided that I did not want to use my iClound storage anyways so I did not work on how to change the emailadress.
I want to use it now - and that is, where the problem started today:
I tried to change the adress, it is grey, cannot be changed.
I tried to log in with the emailadress, iPhone tells me: wrong password (yes, I already tried everything I ever used)
I tried deleting the account: no way, needs password.
That would not be a problem BUT:
I could not use iForgot because the emailadress does not exist anymore.
I could not use the security-questions because I. Simply. Do. Not. Remember. The. Answers. -.-
I DID remember the Username though.
So I logged in and changed the emailadresses.
With the new emailadresses I set up I was able to change the security-questions.
    So THAT problem is solved.
Problem is: iCloud-emailadress is still the same and grey.
Trolled by technology and own stupidity/forgetfulness, I guess.
So: I have everything on my new emailadress BUT the iCloud storage which I am not able to use because I cannot change a thing because I forgot the password and the emailadress is no longer existing.
How do I solve that problem?
    Anyone?
    Best
    Sarah

How do I point iMovie to events in my external  hard drive so I can play projects which use them?
    MacBook, iMovie 9.0.4

    Hi
You can do this - by not doing it the way You describe as it will not work.
    a. the external hard disk - MUST BE - Mac OS extended (hfs) formatted -
UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - will work for most things - BUT NOT FOR VIDEO (iMovie, iDVD or FinalCut doesn't matter)
    b. Do not alter or move any folder named
    • iMovie Event's - or -
    • iMovie Project's
    on DeskTop/Finder - at all
All moving's of Events and Projects must be done within the iMovie Application - then connections will not break.
(move them back and see if iMovie remembers them - then do move as described above)

  • Does deleting all settings delete profiles?

Does deleting all settings delete profiles? I've been having problems downloading an app and the one fix I haven't tried is resetting all the settings on my iPhone. The problem is, I'm a beta tester for apps so I've currently got 9 profiles installed on my phone and I'm afraid these will get deleted. Can anyone help?

Nope not unless you restore it.

  • Delete Existing request in Cube of two years before data using ABAP

    Hi,
I want to automize the process of deleting cube data which is Two years old in the process chain.
I know this could be done in process type of delete overlapping request . There we  Should write ABAP code to acheive the same.
I have seen the editor screen but could do nothing as i am writing the code for the first time.
In the code i see the following:
    {form compute_XX
      tables l_t_request_to_delete structure rsreqdelstruc
      using l_request like rsreqdone-rnr
      changing p_subrc like sy-subrc.
*Insert Source Code to decide if requests should be deleted.
*All Requests in table l_t_request_to_delete will be deleted
    *from Infocube XX.
*Add new requests if you want to delete more (from this cube).
*Remove requests you did not want to be deleted.
$$ begin of routine - insert your code only below this line        -
         loop at l_t_request_to_delete.
         endloop.
         clear p_subrc.
    ENDFORM.}
Any clue of how to procede?

You will need code similar than bellow in the routine that you mentioned:
*Defined the ccupeaka data types as the timestamp calculation module
    *requires this data types
      DATA i_date LIKE  ccupeaka-timestamp.
      DATA i_request_date LIKE  ccupeaka-timestamp.
      DATA i_diff_sec TYPE i.
      DATA i_diff_day TYPE i.
      DATA i_request_tm LIKE rsreqdelstruc-timestamp.
*Define here the retention period in days
      DATA c_retention_day TYPE i VALUE 70.
      i_date+0(8) = sy-datum.
      i_date+8(6) = '000000'.
      LOOP AT l_t_request_to_delete.
        i_request_tm = l_t_request_to_delete-timestamp.
        i_request_date = i_request_tm.
        CALL FUNCTION 'CCU_TIMESTAMP_DIFFERENCE'
          EXPORTING
            timestamp1 = i_date
            timestamp2 = i_request_date
          IMPORTING
            difference = i_diff_sec.
    *Get the day difference:
        i_diff_day = i_diff_sec / 24 / 3600.
*Exclude all request that are within the retention
    *time
        IF i_diff_day LE c_retention_day.
          DELETE l_t_request_to_delete.
        ENDIF.
      ENDLOOP.
However, it is bad practice to keep a lot of request in a cube (e.g. all request of 12 month) without doing compression.
Normally you would use request compression (lets say for all requests older 7 days) to have best cube query performance. As after compression you can no longer do request deletion you would then use the selective deletion as descibed in the document in the post above to control the data volume in the cube.
    Best regards,
    Axel

  • Profile does not exist on server error message

I am able to sign in to the support community, but when I try to update my preferences it says my profile does not exist on the server.  Any Ideas?

    Hi, Jon -
The new design for these forums does not handle usernames (aliases) with special characters in them very well. In this context, 'special characters' includes accent marks and, in your case, the use of a slash as in "Mac/Video" and probably the inclusion of the colon after "Jon". Some of the symptoms reported include not being able to log in at all, or not being able to get to one's Profile (because the system can't find it).
I will ask the Hosts to get in touch with you about fixing things so you can re-acess your account settings.

  • Profile Manager deleted all of my files - not just the profile. Any tips on what happened and how to resolve?

I created a profile with Profile Manager. It dumped a lot of files into the directory that I selected. At that point I wanted to delete the profile and the associated files. When I selected the Delete Profile and Delete Files option it delete all files and folders in the directory - not just the profile files. It offered no warning that it was going to delete more than the profile files. Why did it do this and is there a way to recover the missing files? OS = Windows 7.

You should never select a folder to be used as profile folder that already has files in it.<br />
You should always choose a new and empty folder because you can use the Profile Manager to take up an existing profile by choosing the location.<br />
Removing the profile and opting to delete the files will remove all the files in that folder and remove the folder as well, so be cautious with doing that.

  • Ipod deleted existing songs when performing a sync

    Hi,
My Ipod deleted existing songs when performing a sync. Please advise on how to restore the files that have been deleted from the IPod.
    Best Regards,
    John Joseph

    Hey there,
How do you have your iPod set to sync music? Are the 825 songs still taking up space as other on your iPod? To look, just head in the your iPod's settings and click on About to view details.
I would try restoring the iPod in iTunes and setting it up to "automatically sync" with your iTunes library. Also, if you have it set to sync all checked songs and videos that each song you are trying to sync has a check mark next to it and that disk use is not enabled on it.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Vamsi,
If you want to Code the syntax then this might help you
    DATA:  loeschkey LIKE pcl2-srtfd.
    * loeschkey  contains Pernr and the sequence number of the Payroll Result.
    * This statement can be used with a loop to delete the result if multipal records
    * have to be deleted.
    DELETE FROM pcl2 CLIENT SPECIFIED
WHERE relid  = " ID of the Cluster .... it is country specific
                        AND      client = sy-mandt " Client Number
                        AND      srtfd   = loeschkey. "
There are also standard reports available for deleting single or multiple payroll results.

  • Terminal Server Profiles - Not Deleting(No Roaming Profiles)

I am currently not using roaming profiles. I have two Terminal Servers(both 2008R2) and 1 database server. Terminal server A houses the profiles and pulls user settings, desktop etc. In using the broker service, even if I log into to Terminal server B, I
get the profile that was setup on Terminal Server A or in other words, upon logging in the DELETED PROFILE is still being pulled.
    So Indeed...
Upon deleting user1 from Terminal Server A and where the profiles are housed, it deletes just fine.
    But..
Upon logging back into Terminal Server A or Terminal Server B I get the old profile. Obviously there is a caching problem somewhere.
    Can anyone help please?

Assuming you are not running some other profile management product there are a few places a user profile comes from.
If they do not have a roaming profile set, their profile is copied from the hidden directory c:\Users\DEFAULT\
It can be  copied from a roaming profile or it can be a mandatory profile.
I would be more inclined to think that on server B, the profile is roaming.
To check do a GPresult on the server or check the setting for the user in the registry.  Run Regedit, navigate to
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\SID\
With SiD = Security Identifyer of the user. You can click ProfileList and Select find to search for the userID and locate the correct SID or you can examine the ProfileImagePath key to find it.
Once you have located the correct SID, look for CentralProfile key under the SID.  If you don't find it or it matches the ProfileImagePath, then you are not roaming.  If it is something else the profile is roaming.
If that doesn't work, download process monitor -> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx to the server.
Run it as an administrator.  Click filter at the top and select filter...
CLick the drop down that says architecture and select User, then in the box after is enter the username as domain\username.  You can also clcik the down arrow and select the user if they are logged on.
Have the user logon, delete all the profiles and have them login and you should be able to see what is going on.  Once the user is logged on click the magnify glass icon on the toolbar to stop the trace and llok for the section where the profile is being
    copied.
You can click Edit and then select find to search for "C:\Users\whatevertheuseridis"

Sorry, it seems that we can’t do this.
Do we have backup for these files? If we have backup, we can restore these files from backup.
