Use PS4 as external harddrive??

Hi. This may be a "noob" question, but I sure hope you guys can help me anyway... I seem to remeber I once was told that I can use the ps4 as an external harddive. I have 1TB so it could be cool to transfer my documents, pictures, videos and stuff like that from my macbook to my ps4!?  Please tell me if this is possible!!!  thanks!

Only if you take the drive out and put it in an external hard drive enclosure and format it. Then your PS4 wouldn't work.  No, you can't do what you said.

Apple has really crappy NTFS read-only that does not always work. And it is probably a licensing issue.
Paragon Software is constantly being updated and supported with their NTFS for Mac OS X - they also have an HFS+ driver for Windows that works - Apple's HFS+ read-only driver for Boot Camp / Windows does not.
I keep seeing problems and lack of support for MacFUSE, that could change.

  • Using PS4 as external editor

    Hey guys,
My question is concerning the presets in preferences for an external editor.
I use PS4 and am wondering what is the deference between the tiff and psd selections.
I have played around with both and notice the file size changes when I bring a picture back into aperture. There is also a huge deference between 8bit and 16bit. Also what dpi setting is a good all around setting. I am interested in hearing some different views on how you set this up and why.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Blessings!

  • Using G4 as external Harddrive on my G5

My old G4 is connected to my router and can be read on my G5 by networking. But wouldn't it be possible to just use the G4
as an external harddrive (along with it's 2nd internal HD) to be seen on my G5 desktop as an external harddrive? I know that if I boot the G4 holding the 'T' button it wil start up as such, but can I keep the router/thernet connection or do I need to connect it via firewire?

Hi. As you say, if you use firewire TDM you will be able to see the boot drive of the G4 on the G5.
You could run the G4 normally and be able to use it, if necessary, and share both internal drives over ethernet networking with Sharepoints

    Trust this helps. Good Luck.

  • How to use a new external harddrive as a backup, harddrive in TC as an external drive and the new external harddrive backs up TC internal drive as well?hen the new external harddrive to back up?

    Hi,
I maxed out my TC (TimeCapsule) internal harddrive (1TB) since my pictures + video + music library in an external harddrive became larger than the capacities of the TC one. I plan to buy a 2TB external harddrive, connect it to the USB port of the TC and use it for backups. Then use the TC's internal harddrive as an external harddrive. I want to back up the TC's internal harddrive to the new external harddrive through TimeMachine. How do I make it happen? An alternative way would be replace the TC's internal harddrive with 2/3TB one. If you have suggestion, please let me know.

you can't. time machine will not backup networked drives such as the TC's internal disk. 3rd party applications (for instance ChronoSync) may be able to do that, though.

  • Using ipod as external harddrive.. problems.

about a year and a half ago I got a new Ipod Classic, which replaced my 4th gen 20g Color display Ipod. It was good timing because about 3 weeks later, the itunes software on my old Ipod crapped out. It no longer synced with my computer. BUT the hard-drive space still worked, and my old Ipod turned into a great 20g Flash drive. I used it for about 6 months like this before I went abroad for a year.
I recently returned and have been looking on my two computers and external hard-drive for some important files (namely, my entire senior thesis project). I haven't been able to locate these files, and suspect they may be on my old Ipod. But, when I plug it in to the computer, nothing comes on the screen. It says "charging Ipod, Do not Disconnect" but it does not show my Ipod as being connected anywhere on my computer, therefore I cannot eject it properly.
Anyway, what I am asking I guess, is there anyway to get the files off of the Ipod? Is there something with my system that might be causing it problems? Could I possibly take it to the Apple store to have my files recovered, or am I looking to go to another sort of professional to recover them?
any info would be greatly appreciated.
I am currently running Mac OS X version 10.5.6 on a macbook pro.
Previously it was connected to a PC in my school lab. I assume it was still running Windows XP. I've tried it on our Home PC (windows XP) with no luck.

Did you try it with a different cable or did you use the same cable at both locations?
If it isn't the cable, you might consider getting an external enclosure for 1.8" drives to get to your data.
    For example...

  • Using itunes from external harddrive with orig playlist.

Hi all i am new so dont kill me i want to take my music off my macbook pro and access it from my external hard drive. is there a way that i can transfer the the files with playlist and re open itunes using my external drive and have all the playlist there. also when i save music how do i set it up to save to the external hd? this way i can take it to my office if i need to use it or my other systems. Please point me in the right direction.

To move your iTunes music and info to an external drive...
    Quit iTunes.
Move the entire iTunes folder including music to the external drive.
Click on the iTunes icon to start it, then immediately press and hold the Shift key in Windows, Option key in Mac.
iTunes will ask to Create new library or Choose existing library. Select Choose existing library and select the library in the folder you just moved.
Move the old iTunes folder to the trash but do not empty it.
Restart iTunes normally and verify the songs work. If they do, empty the trash.

  • Using Ipod as External Harddrive

I want to store some files..mostly music files..on my video ipod. I've read to put my ipod on the external disk setting, and then to use Yamipod to put the music files back on my computer when I need them...However I still have some questions and I'd appreciate if someone could help me out.
Does this mean once I've put on this setting, my songs leave my itunes folder and are permanently stored on the ipod?
Is there a way to choose which music files I want permanently on the ipod and no longer in my itunes folder...and which i just want to leave the way they are..(updated each time i plug my ipod in to itunes)?
When I plug in my ipod will I be able to play the music I've stored on my ipod in Itunes?
    Sorry if this was confusing..Thanks..Camila

then to use Yamipod to put the music files back on my computer when I need them
    Why not use iTunes?
Does this mean once I've put on this setting,
    You mean "Enable disk use"?
my songs leave my itunes folder and are permanently stored on the ipod?
No. It means you have simply copied them onto the iPod.
It is very confusing. Use iTunes to load the iPod.
Why are you copying your music files to the iPod with Enable disk use?

  • Use TimeCapsule as external harddrive?

    Hi there.
I have Macbook Air, PC Vaio, Ipad & 2 iphones at home. All I want is to share some documents, photos, videos, music from every single device. So I need something like External Hadrdive which will behave like External computer with data.
How can i make it please?
    Thank you! Vic.

Do you already have the TC you want to use for this??
To get the PC working as well.. load the airport utility for windows on to it.
Set the TC with SMB names... ie short no spaces.. pure alphanumeric.
That means TC name, wireless name/s, hard disk name.
Set access to what you want.. much easier with guest access turned on.
Create a directory on the TC and copy and paste your files there. Do not delete them on the computer though.. as the TC is without any form of backup.. it cannot backup itself up nor can TM backup a network drive.
If you copy itunes libraries not just videos and music expect to have issues.. The TC is not a computer.. it is not a media server... it is a dumb as a board hard disk in a router.
For ipad and iphone you will have to download a file app.. they cannot see files directly without an app.

  • 2 external harddrives, one final product?!?!  is it possible?

    hi,
i am making a movie and have a lot of footage so i am using two separate external harddrives. both have about 15GB left on them.
i need to combine clips from both external harddrives to put my movie together. i tried copying and pasting clips from one movie to the other, but was told there is not enough space to do this.
HOW CAN I USE CLIPS FROM BOTH DRIVES TO MAKE MY MOVIE? shoudl i export it to quicktime and then import it? will that make it smaller? i have the version of imovie that doesn't let you open two movies at the same time. i do not have quicktime pro, but i do have quicktime.
i would be so grateful to any help you can give. thanks all!

welcome deharriso to the  board
....hmmm...- due to the timecritical behavior of video-editing, iM stores ALL files in one single solid folder/project-package... so, you should have ONE drive (internal/external) which has enough space to store the WHOLE project...
some math: 1h video =~13GB... in case, final media is DVD, max. project length is 2h, plus some... "anything" (clips you don't need, additional music, grafix)... letssay: you need at last 30 - 40 GB for your project....
best practise (in case you don't need to edit transitions/titles etc anymore):
export BOTH projects back to tape.
    erase both projects from drives
try to make one drive as "project's drive" => anything you don't need there, push it over to drive II
import material into new iM project, located on drive I...
for sure, you can export selected clips out of a iMproject I and import that into iMproject II... but then you have 100MB in I, 100MB exported somewhere, 100MB finally in project I... means: triples your need of space... :-/
    don't forget:
your Mac needs ~5GB free on internal drive, just to be a "happy" Mac; and don't forget, you need 10 - 15GB additionally free to run iDD smoothly....
a crystal clear workflow BEFORE launching a new project is essentiell... I'm too ran into space trouble... basic rule: just import from tape, what you really need... iM projects shouldn't be too large...
    helpful?

  • Open os9 movie clip  from iomega external harddrive  on osX

With my old G3 Mac I stored movies on a 120 GB External firewire Iomega Hardrive.
When I use this same external harddrive with my new G4 Mac, the Harddrive works perfect without having to dowload any drivers.
But the os9 ( G3 mac) movie's stored on the Iomega external harddrive will not open on the osx G4 Mac
All mp3's stored on the external harddrive from the G3 os9 mac open perfect on the G4 osx mac.
I dont have the G3 mac anymore so am now stuck with 20GB of old movies I can't open up on new G4 osx mac

The files used to look like those ( im with a star)
Now they are just Light black / grey Icons (Rectangles)
With the letters " exec " witten on the top left corner in Green writing.
Under info in finder it says:
    Kind: Unix Executable File
    Size: ( whatever)
    Where: / Volumes / IOMEGA_HDD/ MAC OS9 Folders 20GB
    Modified: (Whatever)
I looked in diskUtility and yes this is somthing I must do to re-formatt.
How do I do this please.
They dont open with quicktime or im ( or any application ) on the External drive
or on the mac internal drive even when you drag / import clips to desktop on the G4 osx mac
If I reformatt the external drive would this solve the problem?
    * Now there is no problem at all storing and playing /opening new movies I make and store on the external drive now with the G4 osx Mac. They all have the folders and Icons with the im star.
    Thanks.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

  • Using Mac OS X and external harddrives

I was wondering if there is anyway to allow Mac OS X to copy/edit files on a Windows-Formatted external harddrive because I want to use the harddrive with both Windows and Mac OS X on my MacBook Pro and use Mac OS X for Itunes, Movies, etc., and Windows as well. If there is no way to do this, is there a way to format the drive so it can be compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows XP/Vista?

You need to format the drive as FAT in order to use it with Windows and Mac. On the Mac side, you can use Disk Utility to format the drive as MS-Dos File System (this is FAT).
    Hope this helps =)

  • Using iTunes from an external harddrive?

I would like to know if it is possible to download and run itunes from an external harddrive.
I have a lot of music and would not like it to be on my macbook's harddrive.

The iTunes application needs to be on the boot drive, but you can put your media anywhere you wish. The easiest way is to just drag the entire iTunes folder (the entire folder, not just the iTunes Music folder) to your desired location. Then hold down the Option key while launching iTunes. You'll be given a dialog box where you can select the iTunes library you want to use. Navigate to and select the iTunes folder in it's new location.
Note that this procedure assumes that all of your tracks are contained in the iTunes Music folder. If they're scattered around your drive, moving them becomes much more complex. And don't launch iTunes with the external drive not mounted or iTunes will default back to the internal drive. If it does, though, just mount the external drive and launch iTunes with the Option key again.
Don't delete the tracks from the old location until you've confirmed that they're working correctly from the external drive.
    Regards.
