Use Replacement Nike sensor with old receiver?

I need a new Nike sensor since the battery ran out. I have read on the internet that the receiver (that you plug into your iPod) has flash firmware on it.
If this is actually true, then I am thinking I should get a new complete kit rather than just a new sensor. Is it just a hardware device, or does it also have non-upgradeable software on it -- or is the software entirely on-board the iPod, and therefore upgraded with the iPod firmware? My previous kit is now a few years old by the way.

Yes.  Users have reported slightly better accuracy with the actual external sensor compared to the internal one, but results have varied.

  • My ipod stops or pauses while I am walking...I am using the nike sensor with my Ipod.  Will it pause when I stop walking for a period of time?

    I have purchased the nike sensor to use with my Ipod touch.  I tried it on the golf course and it kept pausing after time.. I tried the different ways to work out eg basic, timed, calories...but it kept pausing after a short distance.   Is this because you stop and start with golf?  Is there a setting I can adjust?

    Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
    You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
    #Open Firefox ''Options'' window (''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux) as follows:
    #* In Firefox 29.0 and above, click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]] and select ''Options'' for Windows or ''Preferences'' on Mac or Linux.
    #* In Firefox 28.0 and previous versions, click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
    #In the Firefox Options (or Preferences) window, click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select ''General''.
    #In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
    #Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
    Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

  • Can you use nike+  sensor with iPhone 5

    can you use nike+ sensor with iPhone 5. like the device you place in your shoe. Can it be connected to your phone.

    However, you don't need the sensor if you use the Nike+ Running app. It uses the phone's built in accelerometer.

  • HT2293 Do i need nike+ sensor with iPod nano 6.generation?

    Do i need nike+ sensor with iPod nano 6.generation?

    According to this page: http://www.apple.com/ipodnano/features.html
    Track your walk. Or your run.
    The built-in accelerometer in iPod nano gives you real-time feedback on your workout, and you can upload data to the Nike+ website. There’s no need to connect a receiver or use a shoe sensor to track your steps, distance, pace, and time. Just clip on iPod nano and go. In the gym, connect iPod nano to a Nike + iPod compatible cardio machine to keep track of every workout. Back at your computer, upload all your data to the Nike+ website to create personal goals, check your progress, and challenge your friends to top your results.Learn more about Nike + iPod

  • Can I use the same nike+ sensor with two differet Ipods and register the trainings in onmly one account?

    Hello, I would like to know if I can use the same nike  Ipod sensor with two different ipods. I want to use the same sensor sometims with an Ipod touch and sometimes with an Ipod Nano, I want my trainings with both Ipods to be registered to the same account. I want them to be registered to only one account, not as it had been used by two different people.

    Of course. You should use the same AppleID on all your devices. Why would you create a new one?

  • Nike + sensor with 6th generation

    I just received the iPod Nano 6th generation.  I have the Nike+ sensor that I use to use with my last Nano.  It appears that you don't need to use the sensor with the 6th generation, but I'm wondering if it is more accurate if you do use it.

    Yes.  Users have reported slightly better accuracy with the actual external sensor compared to the internal one, but results have varied.

  • Has Anyone succeeded in pairing a Nike Sensor with an iPhone 4

    Let just start with the basics. Has anyone been able to make it work?

    This is an update to my earlier post
    For clarification, I'm using an iPhone 4 with Nike+ shoes.
    I mostly am having trouble linking to the sensor. Just starting a basic workout fails when the app ask me to begin walking so it can link to the sensor. Most of the time it just waits and never links. If it does link, it will happen in two ot three footsteps. If I get it linked, all seems well, but usually within 8 minutes or so it will malfunction in one of two ways. Most commonly the distance stops increasing and the pace is frozen at roughly the pace I was running when I think the distance stopped updating. The timer continues, and I can pause and restart my workout, but pace and distance remain frozen. The second way it malfunction is almost like the first, but in this case my pace is reported as zero.
    I've tried switching off wifi and bluetooth, and it seems just as bad. I wasn't able to get the sensor to link at all in airplane mode. It's a real ordeal to just start a basic workout and get the sensor to link. I kill the Nike app in the task window, turn off and on the Nike app in the settings window, and eventually I can link and start a workout. But the it malfunctions and I have to restart everything. At this point it's impractical.
    I believe the problems are with the Nike app running on IOS4, which means it's fixable in SW. I'm expecting it will be fixed by updates to one or both being updated. I'm staying tuned for now, as this is a pretty slick idea, which apparently has a good history.

  • Can I use Java Creator 2 with old JRE/JDK 1.4.2_07??

    I am planning to install new Java Creator 2 but I am having JRE and JDK 1.4.2_07 and I am using mysql 3.23.55 and I want to integrate it.
    Currently my OS is Windows XP SP2 platform with processor Intel Centrino 1.4 and RAM 256 MB... I know the ram is not sufficient and i am planning to upgrade it.. but the problem is can i still remain to use the old JRE and JDK 1.4.2_07 and i am also using mysql 3.23.55... all the driver and engine are out to date but can i still use it and integrate it with java creator 2?
    The questions are:
    1) Can I use Java creator 2 with those old engine?
    2) What java compiler or development tools i can use to develop java standalone application?
    Thank you

    When the jar file is expanded within Eclipse, it shows that the mail.jar file is built with 1.5.0; I think? Here is the header contents of the MANIFEST.MF file, note "Created by."
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Implementation-Version: 1.4
    Specification-Title: JavaMail(TM) API Design Specification
    Specification-Version: 1.3
    Implementation-Title: javax.mail
    Extension-Name: javax.mail
    Created-By: 1.5.0 (Sun Microsystems Inc.)
    Implementation-Vendor-Id: com.sun
    Implementation-Vendor: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    Specification-Vendor: Sun Microsystems, Inc.
    SCCS-ID: @(#)javamail.mf     1.6 05/12/09
    This is causing problems, because anytime I try to use this file, I get signing errors. I have several Web Services built by BAE and Plumtree that are running on 1.4.2; and therefore I am stuck with 1.4.2. I did try to remove the SUN_MICR.* files, thinkning it would resolve the signing issues, but then that caused other problems. I can provide you with code that demonstrates the problem.
    Is there a place where I can get a mail 1.4 jar file built with 1.4.2? that would most likely solve my problems.

  • Using Plugin NIK SOFTWARE with Aperture 3

    I used the NIK SOFTWARE's plugin.
    after finishing my job, I save and automactilly it store the image into the Aperture Library.
    The problem is that Aperture does't recognize the tiff files just stored and it changes some IPTC lables like "Creator" It uses the licence's owner name compiled in the proper flield.
    I had to cancel from the library and import again.
    Yes this is a woraround but it's boring and time expensive.
    Any other solution?
    tks a lot

    Did post #2 not already answer this? I would think someone who actually uses this machine would be more inclined to give you an accurate answer...
    The point is that there is no per se "accurate answer" to the general performance question. E.g. we hear performance complaints regarding all kinds of boxes stronger than the 13" MBP as well as some reports of users satisfied with MBs or Minis. The more feedback the OP gets the better able he/she is to come to a satisfactory personal conclusion.
    Personally I consider the display an important part of what characterizes graphics app performance. Any +"actual user"+ has already decided against the additional *70% more pixels of the 15" size* with high-rez matte display and also has conluded that glossy is OK for them. IMO a potential new buyer of a laptop for graphics should have those differences firmly in mind when decision making. *Clearly a trip to physically compare 13" glossy vs. the 15" size with high-rez matte display is in order.*
    A user like cbandes doing the heavy work on a MP with real display is much more likely to be happy with the tiny glossy 13" display part-time in the field than is someone trying to run a full pro Aperture workflow from a 13" MBP. Personally I like pixels and dislike glossy, so I would never go from 1.7M matte pixels to 1M glossy pixels just to save 1.1 pound of weight. IMO.

  • Use of different sensors with scc-sg24

    Hi,
    in my application I've to use two type of sensors with following characteristics:
    -a pressure sensor : 10V Ex V , input nominal 950 Ohm output nominal 300 Ohm
    (what does it mean? I know that should be a 350ohm full bridge...)
    -a load cel: 10V Ex V, 700Ohm full bridge
    It is the SG24 able to read this kind of sensors?
    Can I use a single SG24 module to read the two sensor using the two
    channels at same time?
    Thank you,
    Pets
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Pets,
    by looking at the scc-sg 24 specifications at this link http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371073b.pdf you
    you can see that your module has a 10 V excitation which is the same amount required by your sensor.
    The module will work with either the 350 Ohm resistance and 700 Ohm, but since it's been designed for a 350 Ohm bridge, this will be more sensitive.
    I hope this informations will help you.

  • I can't calibrate my Nike+ sensor with my iPod 2G

    I've just bought a nike+ sensor and there is a huge discrepancy in the distance given after my workouts (always is lower) with the real runned distance. I have tryed to calibrate several times (with 400m, 1Km, 1,2km) but it always say that I have not runned the distance of calibration and don't let me calibrate the sensor. Someone knows what I can do to calibrate my sensor?

    Then you need to deauthorize another computer so you can authorize this one. If yo do not have the computers to deauthorize then yo can deauthorize all (you can only do that once every 12 months) and then authorize this one.

  • HELP..accidently replaced full file with old one of same name.

    I think i really screwed up!
    Last night I was organizing my computer files and folders for work. I transferred many files over from my old powerbook and had many duplicate files. I was moving pretty fast dragging and dropping, cut and pasting, creating new folders.
    Then I moved a file over to another one that had the same name. The box came up asking if "I would like to replace the contents... I said yes!
    Then in horror I realized the new folder had nothing in it and I had replaced it for the old file which was full of design ads, quotes, logos, menus, wine lists, ETC all for work.
    Where did all the contents of the old file go? I can not find it anywhere. Did it seriously delete the entire contents and not even put it in the trash?
    PLEASE HELP> I am in big trouble here.
    Thank You
    Rich

    Short answer: it sounds like the file is gone for good.
    Unless... do you have Time Machine enabled (or some other backup)?

  • How do I stop iTunes Match from replacing new artwork with old artwork?

    So, for a while I customized the art on some tracks in my music library, and unfortunately those tracks had the customized art when I uploaded them to iTunes Match. Now, whenever I try to change the artwork back to the original art, it reverts to the synced art whenever Match updates. I've tried deleting the tracks from Match and off the computer and then replacing them with files from my back-up drive, but as soon as Match sees them it gives them the old art again. It's pretty damned irritating. Any idea how to get it to stop?

    Provided you are the sole user of the library, with no other occurence of iTunes Match service operating, it is possible to win!
    The steps are annoying and very manual, as follows:
    1.  Create a Secure Backup of the source Library;
    2.  Ensure no other instances of iTunes Match are operating on related libraries or devices;
    3.  Turn off iTunes Match for your source Library;
    4.  Make the changes using 'Get Info' on the Song files concerned
        (a) Select the incorrect Album Art & delete;
        (b) Confirm cover flow for the selected Songs is showing absent Art - blank with a note symbol;
        (c) Reselect the Song files with 'Get Info';
        (d) Paste in New Album Art';
        (e)  Confirm cover flow of the selected Songs is showing the new Art;
        (f)  Repeat (a) to (e) for each set of Songs as needed.
    5.  Confirm when all complete, via cover flow, that the correct Art is in place for all Songs.
    6.  Take a second secure backup of the library to ensure that you will never need to add Art a second time.
    7.  Turn on iTunes Match; Update iTunes Match; Allow library to remain connected for some time (an hour+).
    8.  Repeat step 5.
    9.  Gradually turn on related libraries / devices one by one.
    10.  You will see the new Album Art will have replaced the old Album Art.
    Note:  iTunes Match does the promulgation of Art as a background task, so it make take some time for the correct Art to appear on all Libraries and Devices - at no stage should Songs in your source library revert to incorrect Art - if this happens check all associated Song files to make sure that they all have the correct Art, restoring via file import from the secure backups as needed.
    You will need to check after a few days on a Song by Song cover flow view to ensure that every incorrect Art occurence has been eradicated - repeating the steps above for any remaining trouble makers.
    Having completed this first hand can confirm that the excellent result is worth the effort!
