Use TimeCapsule as NAS and backup it with harddrive attached to IMac?

Here is what I want to do
- I use TimeMachine to backup my IMac with an Firewire attached harddrive
- want to use TimeCapsule as an NAS and access it from various sources
- my Itunes lib an music should be on the TimeCapsule
I still want to backup my music on TimeCapsule using TimeMachine on the IMac. Is this possible?

If you look at the Time Machine settings in System Preferences, clicking "Options..." will bring up a list of folders/disks that are excluded from backup. If your TC disk is mounted, I guess it will show up in the list so that you can just uncheck it.

I'm really confused by this subscription pricing. If I purchase the $9.99/month, do I get the full desktop app of Photoshop and Lightroom? But I see on this page Products they list something called Photoshop CC that costs twice as much. How is that different from the Creative Cloud Photography?
My main question is whether I can use photoshop text styles and photoshop actions with Creative Cloud Photography, since I just purchased a bundle that includes these and I want to be able to use them. But I'd also like to understand what comes with all of the various products and how they are different.
My other question is how is Lightroom different from Photoshop? I have a sense of what you can do in Photoshop but I don't know much about Lightroom at all.
One more question: the free trial -- is it limited in any way besides the time length? If I do that, will I get a clear idea of all that I will be able to do once I subscribe, or are the functions limited in the trial?

What Adobe Bridge does:
Bridge is the coordinating hub of the Creative Suite. Synchronizing color management settings for all suite programs is done from Bridge, and can only be done from Bridge, to take one important use.
Bridge displays actual thumbnails of many more file types than Finder or Explorer. It also allows instant play of sound or video files more readily than the native OS file managers.
Bridge allows direct access to file metadata, to embed copyright information and keywords where appropriate (e.g., for corporate logo vector and raster files). It also displays the fonts used in an InDesign file, the swatches in an INDD or AI and the output plates (including spot color plates) they use.
When managing the assets for a design project, Bridge allows quick and simple sorting, rating and custom labeling (with color flash indications) of assets. I can rate images according to whether they are rejects, possibles, for review by client, or approved. The filters built into Bridge allow instant isolation of only the approved images or designs in a folder, only the rejects (for deletion) or only files with certain ratings, no matter how many files it contains. It recognizes aspect ratios, so if I only need a landscape or a 16:9 image in a folder of hundreds of images, I turn off the aspect ratios I don't need.
Once filtered, the remaining visible files can be selected and copied, moved, or deleted without affecting the rest of the contents of a folder.
Collections are a massively useful feature. One of my clients is a performing arts center, and in a season we turn out dozens of ads, flyers, brochures, web banners, playbills, billboards and other collateral using the same assets over and over. These assets are organized by artist and/or show on disk, but I set up each season's repeating assets as a Collection in Bridge, so that I just have to open the collection and drag and drop these assets into new INDD, AI, PSD, HTML (in Dreamweaver), FLA or AE projects without having to navigate from folder to folder picking up individual files.
Bridge's Favorites is another place I stack frequently-accessed folders, such as stock photography, backgrounds, and top-level folders for active projects.
Assets can be divided into subfolders, but a quick toggle of "Show items from subfolders" exposes all of the assets in a single view while maintaining their organization. I will typically keep AIs, PSDs, EPSs, stock photography and client images in separate subfolders within a project. When I'm ready to start pulling assets into an InDesign layout, I toggle this on and simply drag what I need into the layout.
Bridge comes with Adobe Camera Raw built in, which is many times faster than using Photoshop to adjust jpegs or tiffs for things like tonal range, white balance, cropping, spotting and sharpening, and is non-destructive.
One tremendously useful Bridge function for InDesign CS5+ users is the "Show linked files" feature, which opens all the linked files in a layout into a single view, regardless of where they are physically located. I often use this when doing alternative layouts from a client-approved mockup for a campaign, to be certain the same assets are used in each piece, or when creating a motion graphic or interactive piece for the campaign in After Effects or Flash.
The batch and image processing scripts built into Bridge automate things like creating web-ready small jpegs from multiple images, renaming large numbers of files in place or by copying to an alternative location, creating sets of PSD, png, jpeg or other file types from an assortment of image files, and so on.
Bridge is so much a part of my daily workflow that on my main workstation I have one monitor dedicated to it almost 100%. Bridge just sits open 24/7, ready for use. I would run at half speed without it, no question.

You don't supply much info other than your machine is old, so here is some info for you to check thru.
Before doing anything you should have a back up, preferably 2, in the event something goes wrong.
You would have to start by upgrading to Snow Leopard, you would need to buy the disk for about $20 here http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Check the the requirements to see if your machine meets them.
You would then need to run the 10.6.8 v1.1 combo update to get it to 10.6.8 Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
You can then access the APP STORE and possibly upgrade to to further OSX.
You may have applications that will not be compatible with any thing past Snow Leopard, you can check those here Upgrading to 10.7 and above, don't forget Rosetta!

I use keynote 5.1 and am bombarded with popups asking me to update to KN 6. I tried 6 after upgrading to Maverick. Do not like it.

ITunes cannot find find on NAS and marks them with "!" - Only double-click helps

I have placed my iTunes library on my Synology NAS. After I (hopefully) got rif of my connection problems by switcvhing from afp to a nfs connection there is still another probem: iTunes does not "find" the songs on the NAS after have started it and marks them with the "!" sign on the left side of the name. If I double click on the song, that one is now properly found and play... This is somewhat "not useable", but it works when I am sitting in front of my Mac....
BUT:
When I connect to my iTunes library from my AppleTv or my iPad when I want to stream some music to the AppleTV, only those songs are available that I doubleclick some time before - when they are marked with that "!". This behavior of course is not "usable" at all.
MY QUESTION:
Is there some way to force iTunes to scan the libray and find those songe marked with "!". I know that sometimes iTunes asks for finding some of the not located songs but even then not all of the "!" are gone. That only happens when I double click it manually or show iTunes the song in the "find" dialog that pops up if it really cannot find the songs.

It is a very impressive phone.
You might want to look at FILES or FILES LITE. I use it for pdf and excel files.
Also, Trapster is very good for directions. And police radar/redlight cameras.

We are having sync issues when trying to use separate user accounts and Apple ID's on the same iMac. What can we do?

My wife and I share an iMac and we each sync to it using separate user accounts and separate Apple IDs. She has an iPad 2 and I have an iPhone 4. We upgraded the mac to Lion and the iphone to OS 5. Now itunes only recognizes my apple id no matter which user is logged in. Now if I download the Home Depot app to my phone it automatically gets pushed to my wife's iPad, which she does not want. We want to keep things separate. How can we do this?

You can sync devices with the same iCloud ID, not seperate ones.
If she has a different login on your Mac, make sure she has her own ID defined in System Prefs > iCloud

Has any one experienced issues with iCloud synchronisation and contacts over two or more devices? The primary machine is an iMac running Lion. Address Book was created from vcf file (backup of address book prior to moving to iCloud). iTouch replicates Contacts just fine and matches the Address Book on the iMac. The iPad 2 does not showing only 123 contacts where there should be 200. I have turned off iCloud on both devices thus erasing the iCloud content of both devices and staring from scratch with both devices with identical results. Even turned off iCloud on the iMac and erased the Address Book and rebuilt with the same results. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I am going nuts.....

To follow-up with this issue:
I ended up performing a security wipe on my device. The security wipe finished, and I was about to reconnect with Exchange when I decided to visit our host's web site to see if they had any articles covering the issues I was experiencing. While they didn't have anything specific, I did find a step-by-step guide to connecting a BB10 device to Exchange... and right there at the end, it said "Do NOT enable memo sync."
I contacted support, and the rep told me that OS 10 has an issue with memo sync and it can cause all sorts of unpredictable behavior. Now, whether or not this is accurate I can say this: So far, the device is not disconnecting and reconnecting like it was before. Problem is, is this a result of not enabling memo sync, or is this a result of the security wipe?
I may have overlooked it, but I don't recall reading anything about that anywhere else. I'm tempted to try re-enabling the memo sync to see if everything blows up again. At least that way I can see for myself if the memo sync is a real issue. Of course, perhaps it's an issue with SherWeb (our host) specifically. Hm...
Anyway, for those that were interested, and for those that may come along in the future with a similar situation, the strange behavior that I first reported is no longer happening. I just don't know if it was a result of a security wipe or a result of not enabling memo sync with Exchange.

The best option for home NAS and backup solution

There are many partial answers here. I’m wondering if anybody faced and resolved my situation and share recommendation and lessons learned. Or if the topic can be Apple only - is Time capsule solution to my needs?
What I have?
I bought my first Apple product recently - the New iPad. I have also desktop PC, 2 laptops and standard 100 Mb WIFI router .
What I plan to buy?
New TV, new Apple TV, Active speakers for TV with reasonable sound and NAS/Time capsule solution whatever it will be
What I want?
Optimally I'd like to:
- Have my data (mainly Music/Photos) backuped on NAS/Timecapsule
- Access to data storage from iPad/Apple TV
- Fully control music (iTunes), Photos & full HD video from iPad
- Share iPad screen on TV screen
- I don’t want to have my PC running all the time
- I'm not the type of geek guy who loves setting up things and playing with many options. Plug & play, one time set up and one remote control for everything is what I seek
- Also price does play role - looking for higher mid-end solution

The Time Capsule is definitely not what you want...my opinion. It was specifically designed for Time Machine backups from a Mac and to function as a wireless router.
Half of the cost of the product is built into the wireless router portion of the product, which it sounds like you would not use.
While it is possible to store other media on the Time Capsule drive, It is not a media server, so any iTunes media...music, video, etc., will require that iTunes, or another DLNA server be running on your PC or another network device.
I don't have any specific recommendations for a true NAS drive....which is what you need....but the link below should provide some ideas:

I am running a HP-DV6 6090ee laptop with windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OS. This problem started from last evening.
I am getting a "Smart Hard disc error" error message before boot and ater booting windows saying that my HDD is having problems and i need to backup and check the hdd.
After checking i found that i have a corrupted hdd and i am going to replace with a new one.
I need to know the following :

> i dont currently have a OEM HP OS cd. can i use any windows 7 cd??
> at what stage should i use the recovery disk i created from the recovery partition be used? Whats its specific use?
I really appreciate any quick response as my current HDD is running out of life.

Using TimeCapsule as NAS

Hi guys,
I copied all of my iTunes content onto my timecapsule so it's acting as a NAS between my mac and pc for my iTunes library.
I told iTunes to manage my library and I am currently importing my 60 gig library.
My question is: if I add / download songs on my mac will they automatically sync over to the PC iTunes since I checked the option under the advanced tab to manage my folders automatically?

No, since iTunes does not have a folder watch capability.
The first thing you should do is turn off the "Keep Music Organized" function, since it will cause one computer to confuse the other.
When you add new songs to the NAS via one iTunes, you can add them to the iTunes library on the other machine manually, using File > Add Folder to Library. If that becomes a chore, you can automate via a 3rd party program such as iTunes Folder Watch.

Can I use 2 different iPhones (and iTunes libraries) with one ATV2? How?

My wife and I just bought an ATV2. We both have and use iPhone 3Gs's. I installed the remote app on both phones, but I am only able to control the ATV2 with the first phone I synced with ATV2. It doesn't seem that ATV2 cares what library it links to since the user has to turn on "Home Sharing" in their individual iTunes account. ATV2 appears to be set up so that you can choose what library you want to use (Under the settings). So can I use two different iPhones with one ATV2?

You can home-share multiple libraries but only use one account at a time. So both phones would need to be signed in under the same apple ID.
