Use USB-headset (mic) in Firefox/Flash

Hello,
In an Flash application where I need to select a microphone for input, the usb-microphone of my usb-headset isnt there. Is there a way to include it? My analog microphone is full of hum and sounds plain ugly.
Or even better, can I make firefox use my usbheadset, which is alsadevice 2.0 ? So sound and microphone will be used by FF.
Thanks in advance

Yesterday I got an USB headset and had to set it as the default ALSA device and card in order for every application to use it by default.
I followed this guide to create the needed configuration file for ALSA:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … sound_card
Hope it can help.

  • Upon using USB Headsets the audio gets distorted

    Hi
I have used USB headset in other laptops including HP but have never faced this problem. But I get this problem with the new notebook, and after a few minutes of use the audio quality automatically gets distorted and loud.
This is not a problem with the USB headsets since I have been using them since long without any problem, and they dont give me any distortion with other notebooks even today.
    Please advise.

The headset has an independent C-Media audio chip that accepts USB on one side and has it's own AC97/DAC. Because are 2 devices (one USB controller and one AC97 sound chip) apears in 2 places in Windows devices! For more info look here:
    http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/usb_audio
CM06-F+/ L+ is a highly integrated single chip USB audio solution. All essential analog modules are embedded in CM06F+/L+, including 8CH DAC and earphone buffer, 2CH ADC, microphone booster, PLL, regulator, and USB transcei'ver.
I would correct the affirmation made by somebody that USB audio devices are no soundcards - YES there are soundcards with an USB controller instead of the usual PCI one! The digital data flows on USB instead of PCI to the audio controller that send it to the integrated DAC's and to the headsets.
So trying to use the USB headset via the X-Fi is like you are trying to use the on-board soundcard via the X-Fi...

  • Pulseaudio + USB headset: mic works, headphones don't

I have a Logitech USB headset that I've gotten to work under other distros, but not yet with Arch. I'm running ALSA + Pulseaudio, with my /etc/asound.conf sending ALSA events to Pulseaudio. This works fine for everything I've used, with the exception of my headset. The mic works, but I can't get get any sound through the headphones, it just always goes to the default sound card. When I run pavucontrol I can see my headset listed as an input device, but not an output device.
Any ideas? Been searching, but haven't found anything yet.

My headset is /dev/dsp1, just FYI

  • Voice Over Using USB Headset

Is this even possible? I have upto now been using a dynamic mic through the camera as a preamp - firwire into the VO tool. That works fine but it would be easier to set up the USB Plantronics DSP 500 for the job.....sniffed around the postings but could not find anything on this.
Checked my settings and tried to record the VO but naddda?? The VO tool recognizes the headset but just scrubs the timeline when I click record.

Seems like you should be able to do it but the USB audio interface seems to have some strange problems with FCP. I use a Koss headset/mic into a Griffin iMic device. Works great. But the iMic contains a USB-powered preamp.

  • L455D Static using USB headset

My Satellite L455D has very static sound while using a USB headset.  I sent it to Toshiba and it came back doing the same thing.  I use this computer for my job and the customers and I can't understand each other thru all the static and garble.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thanks

I am afraid I do not have fix per se. I always had a problem with USB mics on my A350. I never found a resolution, and I gave up looking for one when I was on Vista 64bit. But, the internal mic, and using a mic on the mic/line-in input jack worked fine. So, I resorted to headset with the dual headhone/mic jacks, which gave me no problem.
In all honesty, I have not retried a USB mic on Windows 7 64bit. Perhaps someone else has a fix. But, given the mix of things here, you should try to reload your latest Toshiba supplied chipset driver (which handles the USB ports) and sound driver. This may or may not fix your problem.
I chose the path of least resistance.
If you want to try the drivers, we need more info. You can find your full model number on the Toshiba label on the bottom of your computer, like Satellite L455D-S5976. We need this and your OS version, like Windows 7 32bit, to give you the links to the drivers you should try.

  • PulseAudio, USB headset - Mic sometimes working...?

I need someone to help me debug a problem I have with the microphone on my USB headset sometimes not working; The level indicator in pavucontrol does not show up - if I switch between Digital Duplex and Off a couple of times, its hit or miss if it shows up or not. When the level indicator shows up, the mic works perfectly, when its doesn't show up, it doesn't work at all.
    Anyone had this issue before?

Ok, seems like it's not as easy as that.
Today when I booted my computer, I am unable to make the microphone work what so ever. It could still be as easy as a concurrency problem in Pulse when configuring. But it seems unlikely that I am the only person with this problem?

  • Possible to use iPhone headset mic on 2006 Intel Mac Pro?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the iPhone headset working on a 2006 Intel Mac Pro? Or, are there any adapters that would allow the headset to work? I'd like to use Skype on this machine, but I don't want to have to have a clunky full-on headset for it.
    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    No,

    No.
    Look for USB headsets.

  • Trouble Using USB Headset to record on a track in Pr Pro CS4

I just purchased a Logitech ClearChat Wireless Headset and am wishing to use it to record a voiceover on an audio track in the Audio Mixer. CS4 and Mac OS recognizes the headset but the Audio Mixer will not allow me to
enable a track for recording. I receive the error message......
Error message: "The previously selected ASIO driver could not be loaded, and may be in use by another application. The default ASIO driver is now in use."
    No other applications are running.........
Does Pr Pro CS4 not like these USB devices?

    Bruce--
I had similar trouble. It comes from trying to record from a mono device (your headset) into a stereo track (which is probably what you have, since that is what comes up by default).
Create a mono track. Set your system setting as you did to see your input from the mic.
In Preferences/Audio Hardware, select the system default device.
Now when you enable the track, and press the record button, you should be able to see your levels when you speak.

  • Why does my friends on skype hearing my music when im using a iphone5 headset and using the headset mic on a macbook pro?

Hi! Im using a macbook Pro 17,5 and I´ll have one audio input and one mic input! But Im using only the audio input with my iphone 5 headset and using the mic from that headset!
Why does everyone else on my skype hearing me and what Im doing on my mac?
For example. I talking on skype with some friends and playing Counterstrike. They can hear me really good but they are hearing me shooting a target as well as they can hear me. WHYYYYY??
    Plz help me!

You should post in the Skype forums. However I would presume that Skype needs a WiFi network not a 3GS network to function.

  • Usb headset mic makes noise to whom i talk on skype, but it works perfectly on another pcs. should i update some drivers?

but it works perfectly on another pcs. should i update some drivers?

Chances are the headset isn't using standard USB-Audio drivers found on the Mac.    I'd try to find one that knows it is Mac compatible and says it doesn't require any drivers.

  • Two Headsets/mics simultaneously on the PS4?

My wife and I both love to play games online with some of our family members that live far away.  However, it has always been a pain to try and make it possible for both of us to communicate with the other family members playing with us online because the ps3 always only permitted one chatting device at a time.  Is there any news or knowledge of whether or not we will be able to actually have two seperate mics connected and working with the ps4 at the same time so that my wife and I could both easily chat with our friends and family online together? Some people argue this is a stupid request and that split screening sucks, but it is a lot of fun for my wife and I who like to play games together.  Also, we use gaming as a way of socializing and staying in touch with our other familiy members by playing online, so it would be awesome if we could have two mics for our family gaming get-togethers, so to speak... I've been hoping that each controller headset jack will offer it's own ability to provide chat support.  Is this a foolish hope???

So what exactly was the point in having the jack for headsets on the controller if this cant be done?It is allready DONE. Re-read the posts...Developers CHOOSE  to only support the Single users that is playing the game, via their in game chat that goes over their game servers... PSN Party chat rooms support up to all 4 users that are logged in on one PS4 and all 4 headsets...If I WANTED I can have 3 users logged in and all having the same party chat... as they join the same Party chat room... Third party developed games that have to carry coms over their own networks are not supporting it thats all...Heres the 4 Player set up not just 3... User 1 & 4 are using USB headsets paired to each single user.User 2 & 3 are using DS4 3.5 mm jack socket... No Pairing required... All are chat enabled in the PSN party chat system... And you can only have 4 users any more and yes you can't log them in...  PS Incase your wondering User 1 has USB Keyboard paired to that user thats what that icon is. Yes to see if you  even look the Numbers were the wrong way round on purpose

  • Any success using 2 input mics at same time on a M...

I set up an aggregate device successfully (from ios, applications/audio midi setup). Skype even recognizes it, but does not pick up both usb headset mics (or speakers). Really need to pipe in 2 headsets to one Mac, so we can talk to whom we call.

    Hi Uday,
Do those 2 values have some relation, like if you want the user to enter a month and then get data for the previous month also, then you can use one variable and an offset (here -1)
    Hope this helps...

  • Help getting my headset/mic to work with my Audigy 2 ZS I/O

    Hi,
I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro with the external I/O dri've. I am trying to plug my headset/mic into my external I/O dri've, however I can't get the microphone to work. I have used the headset/mic with my other computer without any problems, so I know it is working. There has got to be a problem with the I/O connections or the way I have set up the Audigy 2 ZS.
Here are the connections I have made:
Headset speaker cord: Plugged into the external I/O hub headset port --- Works great.
Mic speaker cord: Plugged into the external I/O hub Line /Mic In port --- Doesn't work.
I have tried talking to a friend using Skype as well as using the Windows XP Sound Test Wizard, neither once picks up my voice from the mic.
Thanks for the help, I am at my wits end with this thing.

I'm trying to use this Audigy 2 ZS as a mixerless frontend to record with Cakewalk
Sonar. In Cakewalk I can only see one pair of inputs available. Can I use both the
input on the PCI card and the Aux 2 or the Mic input on the breakout box at the same
time? How do I get all the inputs recognized? I thought using the ASIO driver would
help but it makes me switch the audio rate to 48K instead of 44.. Does the ASIO driver
only work at 48k? What are the correct drivers to use for recording into Sonar?
    Thanks,
    JD
Audigy 2 Zs do have another ASIO driver for 24-bit/96 kHz. You need to set it acti've through Sonar Options..Audio..Drivers tab (when ASIO is selected as device). Unselect all I/O drivers there and then select those 24/96 I/Os. NOTE: 24/96 mode is for line sources only so, no Mic input w/ this driver w/o external mic pre-amp through line input.
Audigy cards gives best quality w/ 96 kHz so, it's best if you use it in your projects ... you can then, after final mixdown (to 24/96 WAV file), use software like Voxengo r8brain for SRC (96 kHz ->44. kHz) and dithering (24-bit->6-bit) w/ lowest quality loss (SRC and dithering made w/ Sonar don't give as good results).
W/ ASIO 24/96, or any other than ASIO 6/48 driver, you can record from one source at once only. W/ ASIO 6/48 you should be able to record from all separately listed sources simultaenously and w/ kX drivers maybe from couple sources more.

  • How can i disable the high pass filter on the headset mic on the iphone 4?

i would like to use my iphone for recording and frequency measurement apps.  i have an adapter that allows me to use the headset mic input https://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?category=135&action=itemView&itemID=39 however, there is a high pass filter up to about 200Hz on both the headset mic input and the external mic.  one app apparently has a work around in ios6 http://blog.faberacoustical.com/2012/ios/iphone/finally-ios-6-kills-the-filter-o n-headset-and-mic-inputs/ but is there an iphone setting that could temporarily bypass the filter?  if not in ios6, if i upgrade to ios7 will i be able to do this?

There is no setting on any iPhone to disable/by-pass this.
