Use video and music files on ipad from iPod fifth gen

I've got an old iPod fifth generation video, with lots of music and video etc. can I use it as an external device to plug into my ipad 2? Is there a cable or docking station that would allow me to do this.... It would give me lots more space and capacity whilst on the move.
iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G

No.

  • Sharing Photo, Video and Music files

My new iMac has arrived and I'm looking forward to transferring across all my files at the weekend and to starting to use it.
We use the computer as a family computer although we have different accounts on the computer. I would like to enable all members of the family to have access to all photo, video and music files when they are signed into their individual accounts and using iLife.
My question is this: where should I place these files to enable common access. At the moment they are stored under my user name and therefore only I can access them. A slight refinement on this is that although I want to encourage the kids to use iLife and develop their skills in this area, I want to make sure that they don't delete/alter any of the original files so would ideally like them to save any changes they make in a new file under their accounts.
    Hopefully this makes sense!

    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
To protect your own user account:
Create a new Account on your Mac, call it Media. Create an iPhoto Library there. (BTW: This will work for iTunes too.)
Enable Sharing on the Library:(Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other accounts. In those accounts, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. The Library will appear in the other source pane.
This means that both users will be able to see the pics. If you want to use a pic then simply drag it from the shared Library to your own in the iPhoto Window. This means that each user can have their own edits.
If you want to add photos to the Library: Log into the Media account for that purpose.
To make it all seamless: Set your Mac to log into the Media Account automatically. Set iPhoto to launch on log-in. Then switch to your own account using Fast User Switching.
Net result: a Library that's permanently available to all users but also protected. Each user can have their own versions of the pics if they want.
    Regards

  • How do i store for playing NOT STOLEN music files on ipad, from any computer in the world, at any time?

I concluded that with buying an Apple ipad2, I made the worst investment. Unfortunately, I realized that the philosophy that you build the software for these devices is to extort money from clients without providing them the right to choice. Specifically, at this point I am feeling frustrated that I can not copy .mp3 files to iPad from my home computer, as any device can do. These files do not contain stolen music and, yes, is a certain reason to be unhappy client! I am very sorry that I don't bought a Samsung Android device and I will share my experience all those who need it.

I can not copy .mp3 files to iPad from my home computer
Er, yes you can - I have thousands of MP3 on mine. It appears you have not have bothered to read the User Guide before coming here to make yourself look rather foolish with your blatently incorrect beliefs.

  • Tranfering pictures and Music file via Bluetooth from Nokia Express Music

Hi, I'm having issues with the bluetooth connectivity. My Flat mate has a nokia 5800 express music. We have tried to connect via bluetooth my phone has located his 5800 and seems to connect but i have no idea how to send pictures to him or to recieve anything from his phone....On the bluetooth screen there are no options that appear!?
I presume the music files might not be interchangabe due to different formats?? Surely we can swap pictures thought???

Datatransfer via bluetooth is not supported by this time. Only handsfree devices and headsets can pair with the phone. http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#settings.bluetooth

  • IWeb Videos and Music Play on iPad but not MacBook

    Hi,
I have created a website on iWeb and everything plays perfectly on my iWeb.  When I launch the site on my MacBook and my husband's MacBook Pro, however, the videos and audio clips do not come up, and they just are blank with a gray "Plug-In Failure" in place of the video.  But I can play them just fine on my iPad and iPhone.  We are both running Lion--is that the problem?  Please help!
    Thank you,
    Adrienne

What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?  What version of iWeb and  what browser are you using.

  • Cannot send videos and other files on ipad air

There is no button "send files" on my 4.19 skype. I can send photos, video message, but not video from my ipad library or any other files. Any sollutions?

Were they able to confirm that their app will allow the download of files of that size? There should not be any issue with downloading files sizes when on Wi-Fi. The phone does not have restrictions, but a timeout can be an error of the ISP, or something the App does. Then again, if you are downloading via Wi-Fi, is the device going to sleep during this time? Is it connected to power? If it is going to sleep and is not connected to power, even in the download mode, the sleep mode of the iPad could be disconnecting the Wi-Fi. Try doing it with the iPad connected to power.

  • Restoring music file in iTunes from iPod classic

I have an iPod classic and had it connected to an HP laptop that was subsequently infected by a worm.  I still have all of the music, unaffected by the worm, on the iPod.  Can I easily upload files from my iPod to the empty itunes music library

Using 3rd party software there is a way (if you search on this forum you'll find it).
The point I was making about the back-up drive is that it's cheap (less than $100) to back up your entire iTunes library to an external drive just in case something like this happens.
A couple years ago I spent a lot of time importing my entire CD collection into iTunes (over 1400 CDs/24,000 songs) and my friend asked me how I was backing these up. I replied that I wasn't since I had all the original CDs. He was thinking about the lost time to restore rather than the lost songs and I realized he was right. I bought a bigger hard drive than was in my computer and now my entire iTunes library is backed up on that drive.
So, it's definitely worth it to buy an external drive for iTunes back up.

  • Music is not syncing from ipod touch (gen 2) to my macbook pro?

i just got a new laptop and am trying to transfer music onto my library but its not syncing/tranferrring?

That is true.  The music sync is one way only - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases.  Without syncing:File>Transfer Purchases
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Restoring video and music from iTouch back to iTunes computer

Hoping that somebody can help. I need to be able to restore some of the video and music files from my iTouch back to the iTunes library on my PC.
After some recent HD problems some of the music and video files on my PC got currupted. And before you ask, yes I do do backups. Problem is the copies of the files in the backup are the same as those corrupted ones.. The only valid copies of these files are on my iTouch.
I assume that I can't just simply synch the iTouch as that will simply remove the valid versions.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

Found the program CopyTrans...does all I need and more (use google to find it). It costs $20, but well worth it. I wouldn't have mentioned it here, if it werent't for the fact that iTunes doesn't allow you to copy media files from your ipod back to your computer.

  • My 5th generation iPod Touch won't sync videos and music at all

Since December 29th, I have been having trouble with my videos and music not syncing to my iPod Touch. I tried to manually select them to sync to my iPod, when I remove them the number of gigabytes free on the bottom of the screen doesn’t change. What’s wrong? Please help

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
It just skips the step on preparing tracks to sync and takes a long time as well when it comes to waiting for changes to be applied.
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
No, the iPod was not previously synced to another iTunes library/computer at all
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Yes, I have been succesffuly syncing from the library/computer before this problem happened to my iPod Touch.
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Yes, the songs do play in iTunes
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?
I think I do have the right boxes checked to sync but have to check and see if I do or not have them checked. Even though I have been syncing in the manual method and it still won't do sync my videos or new music at all.

  • Problems wth Videos and Music..

Okay, so I finally figured out how to convert some of my fav Youtube videos to a format that will play on my iPod. I have a 30G video iPod, it'll be 2 years old next month, I'm not sure what gen that is. After I put some of those vids on my iPod, my music started acting up, and now whenevr I pick an artist, the songs will just zip right thorugh the list, for example 1-12 without stopping, and will go back to the main menu (like normal when you finish playing an artist). What did I do wrong? How do I fix it?

    First, try resetting the iPod.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320
If that does not work, you should probably use the Restore button in iTunes to erase the iPod and initialize its software. Then sync everything back, videos and music.
    FYI - It's a 5th Gen iPod.
