Use which render option from FCE4 to iDVD ?

Hi guys,
I wanted to a make a DVD. I reckon using iDVD is the most convenient since it is free with my iMac purchase ...
So, in FCE4 I render using QUICKTIME MOVIE or QUICKTIME CONVERSION to get the mov files to export to iDVD ?

Best Quality from FCE4 to iDVD 08

What settings will allow me to get the bast quality film from FCE4 to iDVD? I see the 3 settings in iDVD but was wondering in FCE where I can change the recording settings with quicktime and which to use. My media was taken with a SD DV camera, 16 bit audio.

Before you export, take the following steps to adjust the dimensions of your video so that it will have the correct aspect ratio in iDVD:
1. In Final Cut Express, select the sequence you want to export in the Browser.
2. Choose File > Export > Using QuickTime Conversion.
3. Click Options to reveal the Movie Settings window.
4. Click Settings in the Video section of the Movie Settings window to open the Standard Video Compression Settings window.
5. From the Compression Type menu, choose DV/DVCPRO — NTSC if your sequence is NTSC or choose DV — PAL if your sequence uses the PAL video standard.
6. Choose 16:9 from the Aspect Ratio menu.
7. Click OK to return to the Movie Settings window.
8. Click Size to reveal the Export Size Settings window.
9. From the Dimensions menu, choose Custom, then type the following dimensions:
* For NTSC, 854 x 480
* For PAL, 1024 x 576
10. Click OK to return to the Movie Settings window.
11. Click OK to return to the Save window.
12. Type a name, select a location and click Save to finish.
This is the best advice I can provide since I'm not completely familiar with your own set up nor do I use Final Cut Express. However I do use FCP and I always shoot on MiniDv Tape at 29.97 frames per second. I can't say for certain which setting/s will work best for own situation since you apparently are shooting Cinema / film mode (24p) .... is this correct?
If so, you might want to consider using 25 or 29.97 fps instead (but not 24). That is if you plan to use iLife'08 /iDvd.

You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

Is it possible to prevent users from using the ''Purge'' option from the ''Recover deleted items'' in Office 365?

After speaking with a Microsoft engineer over the phone, I've been told that there is no way to prevent users to go to their OWA and manually Purge specific items from the ''Recover deleted items''. The Microsoft tech told us to place the desired mailboxes
on a litigation-hold and that all data will be recoverable... but only from the time you place the mailbox onto Litigation-Hold and previous items, which doesn't take effect for new-coming emails.
1- From what I understand, any new items coming in the mailbox after the Litigation-Hold is put in place will still be ''purgeable'', right?
2- Is there a way (PowerShell, Security group, etc.) that can prevent a user from using the Purge option?
We are very surprised that there is absolutely no thread that talks about this issue, which in our opinion, is a major legal and security flaw from Office 365. This is a main concern for us to actually go with Office365. For instance, this means that at
any given time, if a user exchanges emails with a competitor, they can manually purge emails sent and receive as soon as it is sent/received, even after Litigation-Hold is in place.

Which upgrade option from Panther to Tiger?

Okay, tomorrow is the big day; I'm going to upgrade from Panther 10.3.9 to Tiger 10.4.3. I recently had some issues with my iBook, but they were resolved and turned out to be hardware related. As part of my troubleshooting for that, though, I did an erase and install of Panther, so my OS is pretty "new", in terms of how long it's been on the drive.
I've checked on a firmware update for my external drive (used for backup), I've backed up my main drive and run MacJanitor, I'll be repairing the disk and permissions from the Panther installation disk tomorrow before doing the upgrade (and again afterwards). Oh, and I'll be disconnecting all peripherals before starting the process.
My question is, should I do an Archive and Install, or would just the Upgrade option be safe for me? Any opinions?

My personal choice is the simple upgrade option. That preserves all of your custom settings and keeps everything in place. The A&I option is second best because some stuff moved to the Previous System folder has to be manually moved back. A disconcerting manual process. The E&I option requires reinstalling all 3rd-party items and resetting all of your preferences.

Using the FIND option from the LEFT PANEL view

Why does the FIND only act on the current page, not the entire document. Seems pretty useless if you're trying to locate a specific string within the entire document

Well this is how it is designed to work in Page Mode
If you want this feature to work for entire documnet then select Draft Mode.
then you should be able to search strings in the whole document.
This feature is exactly similar to Ctrl+F. It is something that is not controlled by BO but its a default behavior that persists on any web page.

thanks for reporting back with your details - turning off HWA might have slight negative effects on the performance/rendering speed of the browser but it shouldn't impact any functionality.
i've seen a handful similar threads by users mentioning this issue since they've upgraded to firefox 18. so when it is a widespread problem, mozilla might further investigate this & offer a fix in a later version...

I do some VJ-type work, involving playback of QuickTime files from the computer to projections, and I get good results using ProRes 422. That's convenient, because ProRes 422 is such a great editing codec, too.
Traditionally, VJs use PhotoJPEG codec, which also works well, but it's a bad editing codec. So you would have to export an edited master, then convert.
If you want it to look as good as possible, definitely schedule some time to test the footage on the wall. You may want to change the color correction of your footage to match the projectors. And if you feed the video wall some flat gray, you can see if any of the projectors need to be adjusted.
I'm not sure what application you're using for playback, but QuickTime Player 7 works well. It has an option to play fullscreen on an external monitor (View > Present Movie…).

I came to Lightroom quite recently (in the last month!) from Photoshop Elements 11. I like the organization features in LR better, but for adjustments such as the ones that you mentioned I would leave LR and go back to Photoshop Elements 11, primarily because that is what I know. I don't use the subscription service, mainly because I already owned and installed the boxed version of Photoshop Elements 11 and adding it to a subscription service with Lightroom seemed redundant. I am sure someone in the community will (or has) comment(ed) that it is possible to whiten teeth and cure blemishes within LR, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Check out the TV Adobe free tutorials, particularly Julianne Kost's tutorials. She has a good presentation style and you might find the LR answer that you need with detailed instructions.

I use Firefox when a site doesn't work well with Safari. Some people like Google's Chrome, but I find it too instrusive and do not trust Google's security. You can download Firefox from firefox.com.

OK. Here's where we've ended up for now:
One of our software engineers is working on fixing the bug that keeps the setting from being persistent. So, if you like Optical, you can set it that way once and it will be the default for new text layers created after that.
We're not going to change the default right now. Our thinking is that fixing the bug makes it so that the people who want Optical only need to change it once, and we should continue to match Photoshop and Illustrator with their default. Also, Angie makes a good case that even if Optical is the right solution much of the time, having the default be Optical will cause people to miss out when a type designer has done the right thing and done the pairs correctly for the Metrics case.
We'll revisit this decision if it turns out that our incremental step of just fixing the bug isn't enough to satisfy everyone.

Multiple select queries used in Excel BI report ,fetching data from Sharepoint DB(SP2010_Prod_ProjectServer) causing blockage on DB ,when more than one workbook(same copy of Excel BI Report) refreshed using Refresh All option.

I am using mutiple select queries to fetch data from Project Server 2010 DB(its sharepoint DB) and these queries fetch data in Excel BI report by establishing connection with DB using instance name and all. I have enhance all these select queries and data
is being fetched in secs. but when more than one copy of same Excel BI report is refreshed using 'Refresh All' option, then these select queries cause blockage on DB.
Please let me know mitigation for this blockage issue.
Should I use begin transaction and commit transaction statements/ shared lock statements.

The apps you are trying to update were purchased with (and therfore permanently linked to) someone elses Apple ID. If you do not know the password then you need to delete the app and redownload/purchase it with your Apple ID.
