Use Yamaha Keyboard Sounds/Instruments on GarageBand to record

I want my yamaha keyboard sounds to be usable in garageband and record using the instruments on my yamaha keyboard rather then the garageband instruments.
I would love it if someone could really help me out here and tell me how this could be done, thanks.

I've been trying to figure this out forever but could not find out i would love and appreciate it if someone could help me.

As others have said, you can always record the audio out of your Yamaha into Garageband onto a real audio track, just as you'd record a guitar or mic, but you can't use your Yamaha sounds as software instrument sounds, with Garageband "playing" your Yamaha via MIDI.
More full featured music applications, like Apple's Logic would enable you to play your Yamaha like a software instrument (play synth, synth sends MIDI to computer, computer records MIDI, on playback computer sends MIDI back to synth, synth plays audio), but I doubt the hassle of setting it up would be worth it. The virtual instruments in the computer will likely sound better than the sounds that come with that particular Yamaha.

  • Using Yamaha Keyboard with GarageBand

Tried my Yamaha keyboard with GarageBand for the first time. To my amazement, it worked. However:
Cant' seem to get the volume up (on the Yamaha Keyboard). Checked all the volume settings, including the iMac's System Preferences, GarageBand volume settings but it's still relatively "soft."
I'm using a USB 2.0 15-ft. cable. Could the length of the cable have anything to do with this. Would a shorter USB 2.0 cable.........say 4-ft. ...... make a difference?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions

don't think I have some of the features to control
sound you suggest. (GB's Track Fader? Master Volume
    Fader? "Generator" settings. "Pencil" icon.)
You have all these things. Each track has a fader (volume control), and at the bottom right of the window is the Master Fader (volume Control). Select a track and open Track Info ("i"nfo) icon), click details, and the pencil icon to the right of the Generator PopUp menu.
preferences, it does not show that USB port as a line
    in......
Because it is NOT a line in. MIDI ≠ Audio.
just internal mic and audio line in
    As it should be.
I don't understand why, when going to the audio
settings........both on Mac audio preferences and
GarageBand..........it doesn't show that USB as an
    audio line in.
    Because MIDI ≠ Audio
Also tried with Sound Studio...........a music
recording application that came with my iMac when I
purchased it a couple of years ago. It has worked
with the Mac's audio line in and with the internal
mic.........but doesn't pick up anything from the
    keyboard via USB cable in.
Because there is no Audio to pick up. MIDI ≠ Audio.
Could the length of my USB cable have anything to do
with this? I am using a 15-ft. USB 2.0 cable.
    No.

  • Is it possible to use a keyboard sounds through midi on Logic 8?

The thing that I'm asking, is to do it the opposite.
I mean, you're able to use your midi controller such as M-Audio with the sounds from the software, for instance "Main Stage part of Logic Pro" , but I'm wandering If you Can do it the opposite way.
Using the Sounds Bank from the Keyboard through the interface and then recording as midi track, no an audio track.

    Hi Erik,
    ps Pancenter:
Apple is not really either a hard- or software manufacturer. You are panned hard right there, I'm afraid. Both -wares are too interconnected to separate them like that. The combination is too important for their success - which they needed, back in the 'performa' and '601/4' days... The Pre-imaccian period...
The fact that Logic is now affordable for unwealthy but passionate amateurs like myself, I find wonderful. i had to sell my U220 and X5dr for it - luckily they indeed proved obsolete...
Well, if you ask Apple they will generally tell you they are a Hardware company, the software is there to sell hardware.
Their "key" pro apps are not available on other platforms, they are designed to do one main thing... get the hardware out there, why do you think Apple cut the price of Logic in half and removed the copy protection? A student of mine downloaded the whole f#$%^& program, jam packs and all. For someone who has used Logic since a 2.xx MIDI version and literally spent several thousand on the program and updates, it's somewhat of a slap in the face.
So I disagree, Apple is a mainly a hardware company, their software is designed to promote hardware, their profit is made in hardware sales.
If they were really a software company, support wouldn't cost an arm and a leg as the expense of the software would (somewhat) offset the support costs. (what is it now, $200 a call for pro help?)
I've beta tested enough to know how much time and money software support costs.
    pancenter-
p.s. I wish the forum moderators would weigh in on this issue as the forum provides a LOT of support for Apple.

  • My keyboard sound buttons no longer work in Firefox 13.1

Ever since the most recent firefox update, if I want to turn down a youtube video using my keyboard sound control buttons, I have to unselect my firefox window. Any solution for this?

hello, i think this is caused by the update of adobe's flash plugin to version 11.3 which has introduced a socalled protected mode, which apparently is breaking the transmission of hotkey input back to the operating system when flash has focus.
you could try [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071 disabling protected mode] in flash or [http://forums.adobe.com/thread/889580 downgrading to a prior version].

  • Garageband is no longer recognizing sound from my Yamaha keyboard.  This happened suddenly and I can not figure out why.  Any tips?

I connected my Yamaha keyboard to garageband via the iPad camera connector kit.  I had it working great to record, but suddenly garageband stopped recognizing my keyboard and I can not record any sound from my keyboard in garageband.  Any ideas to fix?

As a first step, try doing a Reset PRAM.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379
The sound settings are stored in PRAM.  If there is some corruption of settings in PRAM, a reset may fix your problem.

  • Keyboard sound in Garageband

    Hi,
I just wondering if any of you out there now a good way to record an electronick keyboard on Garage Band. If you know of any devices that could be used to get a decent sound recorded or any other applications that could be used I would appreciate it. The keyboard that I'm recording is a Yamaha and the computer that I'm recording on is an ibook.
If someone could respond this question I would be most grateful.
    All the best,
    Charlie

  • Garageband doesn't recognize my yamaha keyboard

    hi
I have garageband 6.0.4. and a yamaha keyboard ypt-200 and a duo-capture but when I connect the keyboard to the interface and the interface to garageband, it only recognize my interface but not the keyboard. when I do the same with my electric guitar it works but with my keyboard not. Can anyone help me?
    thanks

    Judy,
when you installed GarageBand 10.0 the installer should have moved your GarageBand 6.0.5 to a subfolder in Applications. This version should still be working. If you are working on a tight schedule, use that GarageBand 6.0.5 version for the time being, to get your show done.
GargaeBand 10.0 seems to have a bug causing crashes, i.e. on 2007 models (iMac, MBP) and mid 2011 models. If you have one of these models, use GB '11, until there is a bug fix.
    See: GarageBand 10.0 crashes
If you are using older drivers for Audio interfaces or are using plug-ins for custom instruments and sound effects, check with manufacturer's for compatibility with GarageBand 10.0 and Mavericks.

  • Using my piano sounds not Garageband

Hi, now this is probably a real easy solution but I just started using GB this weekend, so..
I have a Yamaha P-250 and is connected to my laptop using the midi out option which I would like to use Garageband. My Yamaha Piano has hundreds of different instruments built in and would rather use these rather than the ones in GB. How can I just record in GB using the sounds purely from my piano and not the GB piano for example?
    Hope this makes sense..!

Makes sense, but isn't possible, since GB doesn't send midi out signals back to your keyboard. You'd have to upgrade to Logic to do that. If you want to use your keyboard's sounds, you can only record the audio to a real instrument track, but then you won't be able to edit your tracks.
There is a plugin called MidiO that will accomplish what you want - you can send the output of a real instrument track out via midi.

  • Imported a WAV Middle C Keyboard sound into timeline of Garageband. Can I play it on my midi keyboard?

    Hey there
I have a wav of a middle C keyboard sound that I downloaded that would like to be able to playback through my Midi keyboard and record into Garageband.
    Is this possible using Garageband?
I have tried importing the sound into the timeline of Gargeband, but then cant see any option to be able to play it through my midi keyboard.
Can I put that wav into the sounds on the right hand side?
Any suggestions? - If you understand what I'm on about here
    thanks

  • How to use manistage 3 instruments in garageband

    Hello:
    I am using Garageband 11 and I have Mainstage3.
What do I need to do for using MS3 instruments in Garageband?
    Many thanks...

I have a similar question: How can you set up entities and persistence units when working in a visual web project created using the Visual Web Developer pack?
Perhaps the Visual Web Developer pack could use a couple of sample projects showing how these things are done.

I want to record a podcast using my Mackie mixer and have the mix sent to Garageband through the USB I/0, but it doesn't seem to give me the option.
i think the first thing to do would be to check with Mackie support. two things noted on Mackie's website:
    DRIVERS::
No Driver Required for Supported Windows (PC) or OS X (Mac) Versions
    (note "supported")
    and
    For the Mac::
    Mac OS X 10.4.11 – 10.7.1
ask if their firmware currently supports OS X 10.9.x
