Used 8700c

Just bought a used 8700c, and have a couple of problems;
First, where can I get a copy of the owner's manual?  I went to the Blackberry website but couldn't find an owner's manual, just a PDF about safety.
I'm trying to remove the password requirement, but I can't change the "Enabled", it's not an option.
I get;
General Settings;
Password  Enabled
Pressing the wheel I get;
change password
wipe handheld
verify security software
save
close
Thanks,
Art

  • Can I tether a Blacberry 8700c to my Powerbook G4 to access the internet?

I have a Blackberry 8700c and cannot tether it to my Powerbook G4 (OS 10.4.8) so that I can access the internet from the Powerbook (either by Bluetooth or cable). I need to send documents and e-mail from my Powerbook through the Blackberry acting as a modem. Has anyone been able to do it?
    Power Book G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

i had a blackberry 8700c (now have a treo 680) and at the time, everything i'd read indicated that the 8700c could not be used for bluetooth DUN (dial-up networking) as it does not have the right bluetooth profile to allow a data connection, only the capability to transfer audio via bluetooth. however, i just checked out blackberryforums.com and it seems that someone has found a way to use many blackberry models as a modem with a usb cable and some additional modem software. here's a link to the instructions (of course, use this information at your own risk): http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-guides/2019-user-howto-use-blackberry -modem-laptop.html

  • How to install applications on the 8700c

I am new to Blackberry, just started using a 8700c.  I found numerous applications I would like to try, but cannot figure out how to install them.  I loaded app world on my device, but I get a message that says App. World is not available on devices with track wheels.  How do I install apps from App World that are listed as compatible with this model?  I did not find any way of downloading the app to my PC so I could use the app loaded in the desktop manager.
    Thanks for any advice.

Unfortunately the App World won't work on devices with a traackwheel. Do you have a BlackBerry data plan? I so most apps can be downloaded OTA from thieir respectivr websites.

  • Device switch from 8700c to 8310

I have switched devices at least twice before and it was a piece of cake. For some reason this time while using:
    Blackberry Desktop 5.0.1.37
trying to switch from BB 8700c ver 4.5.0.182 (platform 2.7.0.106)
going to BB 8310 ver. 4.5.0.110 (platform 2.7.0.90)
both on the ATT network with internet active this is what happened.
It went through the entire process said it was finished but the only thing that tranferred was my documents to go (Word), and my facebook account! Oh, and some messages from July 4 and before!
I did not get any calendar appointments, no Addresses, no memo's, no tasks, no call log.
I have 990 entries in the phone book, most with multiple numbers so I kind of need to find a way to transfer these!
What do I need to do different?
    Thanks folks,
    Gary

That did it, thanks for the sounding board!

  • 8700c bluetooth won't enable

    good afternoon all!
i have an 8700c that i have unlocked after Ebay purchase to run Tmobil as my carrier. I have used my bluetooth in the past to pair with my GPS and the like. however, after a recent DM upgrade (6.0) i noticed that i cannot enable bluetooth at all.
so far i have tried resetting to factory, removing DM 6.0 and going back to 5.0 to no avail. i then did a complete wipe with JL_cmder 1.9.1 and a pretty recent version of OS (4.5.0.110) installed now. and that didn't work.
i also removed the BES IT policy from my device and DM (5.) did the wipe and re-install of 4.5.0.110 again and that hasn't helped either.
so does anyone have any other options at this point for me to try? basically i can go into my bluetooth options, click enable bluetooth, it sits for a second, doesn't do anything and says that bluetooth is disabled.
anyone have any other tips/tricks i can try? is there a way to verify that the bluetooth chip is functioning?
    thanks so much!!!

according to ATT, it looks like 4.5.0.306 is the most recent version now. i am downloading that to give it a try as well.
the BB was originally on Cingular if that matters (before i unlocked it). gracias!

  • PIN on a 8700c? Can't get to first base with my new but ancient Blackberry.

I have a pay-as-you-go account from Telmex (in Mexico) which I use very infrequently. However, on the rare instances that I have to reply to a text message, I find using a numeric pad really tedious. I had read that Blackberries have a physically usable keyboard, even for people with larger hands, so I found on ebay a Cingular Electron 8700c for $30. My problem is that when I put in my Telmex SIM, it requested my password. I tried a few times, all failing. It is now up to an ominous attempt labelled 4/6. I bought the phone from a serious ebay vender with a rare 100% positive feedback, and he claimed it was unlocked from Cingular, and that is most likely true. When I first got my SIM from Telmex and put it in my Nokia 6126, which is also an unlocked Cingular phone, it did not request a password, and functioned from the get-go.  So I have the following questions:
    1) If I fail to get the right password on the sixth attempt, will the Blackberry explode and level my apartment?
    2) Is this password located on my Telmex SIM chip or on the wired telephone memory?
    3) Any recommendations how to solve this problem?
For anyone kind enough to help, please remember that I am a total Blackberry **bleep** and reply accordingly.  I did however download the pdf manual for this model.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You should be able to disable the password on the device if you want. If it doesn't allow you to disable the password and/or there is a small lock on it not allowing you to disable it then you likely have a device that was connected to a corporate server and has a leftover IT policy on it.

  • Cannot view attachments sent to me - difficulty using iPhone for business

I have a Yahoo business e-mail account synced to my iPhone. For my business I need to view dozens of attachments each day -- mostly PDFs, PowerPoint and Word files. Some are large (more than 8 MB) and I can understand why those might be slow to load, but I cannot view small ones, such as PDFs that are less than 1 MB. The circle just spins forever.
I have used a BlackBerry 8700C for more than a year and found a product to work with it called Repligo Professional (for individuals as well as enterprise). When I am traveling, it allows me to see all the attachment types within a minute or two. So I still carry my BlackBerry, which I had hoped to retire when I migrated to the iPhone.
The strange thing is that the BlackBerry uses EDGE and the AT&T network, and it is very fast, whereas the iPhone using EDGE/AT&T does not work.
Switching to WIFI does not help.
This difficulty, combined with the cumbersome need to delete one e-mail at a time, makes the iPhone impractical for business use at this time.
Is there any solution that I am not aware of?
    Thanks,
    Anna

I have received many pictures from other phones, both iPhones and other non iPhones. iMessage and standard text messages have both contained pictures. However when I want to view the pictures, I cannot. When I click on the pictures it takes me to a black screen that says its loading but it never finishes. I have left it loading for over an hour with no luck of seeing the picture. I have tried it on many wifi networks and both 4g and 3G cell service with no luck. I have now figured out to save the picture then enter the photos app to look at the picture. While this solution works, I simply want my pictures to load when I click on them so I can see if it is one I need to save. Any help on how to fix the problem?  I have an iPhone 4S.

  • Help remove gmail signature from emails sent from Blackberry 8700c

I have a Blackberry 8700c and use gmail on my device to send/receive personal emails. (The primary email function for my device is work-related and, therefore, used for work emails.) About a year ago I set up a signature for my gmail account (on the computer). I have since changed and/or deleted that signature multiple times and the emails I send from my computer reflect that change but the ones sent from my Blackberry still have the old signature. Gmail claims this is a device problem and not a Gmail problem. I have done everything I can think of on my Blackberry including deleting Gmail and then re-installing it. I have searched for solutions in multiple forums and only found that others have the same problem but I haven't seen an answer that works. Does anyone here have a solution?
    Thank you!

Your BIS account is the Blackberry Data Plan on your account with which your email is enabled to your BlackBerry, the "push" email to your device. Someone would have had to set it up, either you or your mobile service provider.
I don't know your carrier, so please look at this list and login to your account, you will need to know your username and password for your BIS account, and since you don't know you have one I am suspecting you won't know your username and/or password.
This same can be accessed from your BlackBerry at the personal email setup icon.
Go to the Personal Email Set Up icon and log in. Then under Help!, select Service Books, then select Send service Books.

  • 8700c goes to Blackberry Home Page when holstered

I have a RIM Blackberry leather holster that I used with an old Blackberry.  The holster on my 8700c broke and I tried using the leather holster from my old Blackberry and each time I holster the 8700C it goes to the Blackberry Home Page and does not turn off.  Any Ideas on how to make the 8700c turn off when holstered.
I tried taking out the barrery and restarting .... that didn't help.  Also tried turning off and on the holstering feature and that did not work either.  HELP.

The screens turn off when holstered because of a little magnet in the case. If the holster your using doesnt have a magnet or its in the wrong place it wont turn the screen off.

  • 8700c Shortcuts and Device lock

I recently was given an old 8700c and am still figuring out how to use everything.  I've run into a couple of problems though.  When I first got it, some of the keys were shortcuts for various things.  I could press one key to lock the keyboard or another to access SMS messages and it was more convenient than scrolling to what I wanted.  Yesterday I downloaded the desktop manager and plugged my device in.  It asked me to update it, so I did.  Now, any letter I press takes me to my address book.  How can I disable this and set up shortcuts like what I had before?  Also, originally there was a key I could press to just lock the keyboard.  Now, I have to scroll to the "Keyboard Lock" icon and select it.  What irritates me the most about this is that it locks both the device and the keyboard.  I'm worried that it's going to accidentally make an emergency call in my pocket.  How can I make "Keyboard Lock" lock only the keyboard?
    Please help

There could be. If not, a work around would be an app that has the feature of suspending the password time out. Not pushing it, but Tilt is an example. Of course BlackBerry Maps as well. There must be others.

  • How do I use Edge Web Fonts with Muse?

How do I use Edge Web Fonts with Muse - is it an update to load, a stand alone, how does it interface with Muse? I've updated to CC but have no info on this.

    Hello,
Is there a reason why you want to use Edge Web Fonts with Adobe Muse?
Assuming you wish to improve typography of your web pages, you should know that Muse is fully integrated with Typekit. This allows you to access and apply over 500 web fonts from within Muse. Here's how you do it:
Select a text component within Muse, and click the Text drop-down.
Select Add Web Fonts option, to pop-open the Add Web Fonts dialog.
Browse and apply fonts per your design needs.
Muse also allows you to create paragraph styles that you can save and apply to chunks of text, a la InDesign. Watch this video for more information: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/using-typekit-with-adobe-muse/
Also take a look at these help files to see if they help you:

    http://helpx.adobe.com/muse/tutorials/typography-muse-part-2.html

  • How can multiple family members use one account?

My children have iphones, ipads, ipods and mac books, my problem is how do you use home sharing with the devices and not get each others data.  My Husband just added his iphone to the account and got all of my daughters contacts.  I understand they could have there own accounts but if i buy music on itunes and both children want the same song, I don't feel i should have to pay for it twice.  Is there away we can have home sharing on the devices and they can pick and choose what they want? and is this icloud going to make it harder to keep their devices seperate?

  • Iphoto crashing after using mini-dvi to video adapter

Hi, IPhoto on my Macbook is crashing. I can open it, then as soon as I scroll down it locks up and I have to force quit.
This started happening right after I used a Mini-DVI to Video Adapter cable to hook my macbook up to my TV. The adapter/s-video connection worked and I was able to see the video on the tv. But iphoto immediately locked up the computer when I went to slide show and now it locks every time I open it.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you:)
    Dorothy

It means that the issue resides in your existing Library.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

  • How do multiple family members use iTunes.? One account or multiple?

How do multiple family members use iTunes. One account right now but apps gets added to all devices and iTunes messages go to all devices.  Can multiple accounts be setup and still have ability to share purchased items?

    Hey Ajtt!
I have an article for you that can help inform you about using Apple IDs in a variety of ways:
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4895
Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases
You can use different Apple IDs for iCloud and Store purchases and still get all of the benefits of iCloud. Just follow these steps:
    iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
When you first set up your device with iOS 5 or later, enter the Apple ID you want to use with iCloud. If you skipped the setup assistant, sign in to Settings > iCloud and enter the Apple ID you’d like to use with iCloud.
In Settings > iTunes and App Stores, sign in with the Apple ID you want to use for Store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). You may need to sign out first to change the Apple ID.
    Mac:
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for iCloud in Apple () menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for Store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match) in Store > Sign In. In iTunes 11, you can also click iTunes Store > Quick Links: Account.
    PC (Windows 8):
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for iCloud in the Control Panel. To access the iCloud Control Panel, move the pointer to the upper-right corner of the screen to show the Charms bar, click the Search charm, and then click the iCloud Control Panel on the left.
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for Store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match) in iTunes. In iTunes 10, select Store > Sign In. In iTunes 11, click iTunes Store > Quick Links: Account.
    PC (Windows 7 and Vista):
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for iCloud in Control Panel > Network and Internet > iCloud.
Enter the Apple ID you want to use for Store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match) in iTunes 10 in Store > Sign In. In iTunes 11, click iTunes Store > Quick Links: Account.
Note: Once a device or computer is associated with your Apple ID for your iTunes Store account, you cannot associate that device or computer with another Apple ID for 90 days. Learn more about associating a device or computer to your Apple ID.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
