  • Should i upgrade from photoshop cs3 extended to photoshop cs6 non extended

hi im just wondering should i upgrade from photoshop cs3 extended to photoshop cs6 NON extended...... would i loose options from my extended version?
also i dont use photoshop cs3 that much, does anyone think its worth me upgrading?
    thanks
    lee

    Good day!
I think I read that with 2013 the upgrade path would be shortened, so you are probably not eligible for upgrading anymore.
Apart from that the benefit of purchasing the current version of Photoshop naturally depends on what you are doing with Photoshop (both in terms of which features you use and how much you use the application overall).
Smart Objects have been improved quite a bit, Puppet Warp is an interesting feature, Configurator allows for the easy creation of custom Panels that can combine Tools, Commands, Actions etc.,  …
But to judge the programm yourself you could just install the trial – mind you, the trial is Photoshop Extended, so you may want to consult the Reference on which features you would not get with Potoshop Standard.
You might also want to look into Cloud Licensing – or at least »Adobe« wants you to …

  • Photoshop CS3 "Save for web" doesn't work

Hi everybody. I noticed one weird thing. When I want to use "Save for web" function on my Photoshop CS3 to save some jpg file and reduce size, the dialog window just doesn't appear. I clicked Save for web and nothing happen. The window of the file a wanted to save just get grey. I'm new in CS3 an it worked well in my CS2. BTW I use MacBook Pro and CS3 for Mac.
    Guys, any ideas?
    Thanx a lot. :-)

    Hi all,
Deleting the SFW prefs worked for me.
My Photoshop CS3 was working fine till I (probably unwisely) tinkered with system files to free up some space.
Re-installed CS3 from scratch but still couldnt "Save for web".
Then I found this tip suggesting deleting the SFW prefs and BINGO! Back in acion.
    Thanks for the tip.

  • Photoshop CS3 Save for Web Outputs Large Filesizes

    Hi guys,
I have been using Photoshop CS3 for many happy years and over the last few weeks I have noticed something very unusual. When I use Save for Web and save jpegs, gifs, or other images, the estimated file size which shows in the corner is being heavily inflated when I look at the actual file size of the files it's outputting.
I am having to open up the files in Preview and then do another save as jpeg to get the file size down!
For example, I regularly make small 200px wide by 96px high logos for a clients website and have been doing this for a few years. The average file size of these is about 5KB, which is what I aim for. When I use Save For Web now, it will indeed show an output size of around 5KB, however, Finder reveals the size is 17KB or higher!
Why is it doing this and how do I put a stop to it? It is very frustrating and time-wasting to use third-party apps to fix simple small things like this. Please don't suggest I upgrade to CS5 to fix the problem.
    Cheers

Thanks for your help, I don't know if I reset my save for web preferences as I tried the keyboard shortcut method shown in the other forum post you provided, however, I didn't see any feedback indicating if it worked. Also, they were using PC keyboard commands not Mac, so I tried using either Control and Command just in case.
Either way I tried another thing while I was in the Save for Web dialog, I clicked on the little arrow the points to the right underneath the Done button and to the right of the Preset drop-down. It is called the "Optimize Menu", I then clicked on "Edit Output Settings" and chose "Default Settings" from the "Settings" drop-down.
My saved image file is now 5KB! Finder shows it as 8KB, however, Dreamweaver is showing it as 5KB which is all I wanted!! Hooray!

Adobe's educational licenses have never been upgradeable. Typically they're sold at a great discount. You probaboy can buy new full educational licenses at educational discounts, if you qualify as a student or educator.
Adobe's recent, perpetual license upgrades - such as, to Photoshop CS6 - have accepted a student license as a qualifying product. Not the suite license since that is a completely different product, but student versions of Photoshop.
That acted as the affordable entry point, for people who might manage a commercial upgrade, but not an initial commercial-price purchase at many hundreds of dollars. Otherwise these people were never realistically going to become commercial software users, so were never going to contribute any real revenue to Adobe going forward within the perpetual license model.
The Cloud offerings can now be considered as the affordable entry point instead, IMO, given that they don't involve any large lump-sum purchase at the start. You can be up and running, for the expenditure of your first monthly payment only. Even a year's commitment is much cheaper than buying a perpetual license, and comparable to buying a commercial upgrade under the perpetual license model.
So, a person who does not possess any commercial license for the software, only an academic one, is only disadvantaged in that they fail to get this discounted membership.
But AFAICT this discounted membership is given on the strength of having in the past shelled out a lot of money buying a perpetual license. Someone who has not done that, IMO should not feel aggrieved at missing out on this particular discount.
It is specifically not aimed at them. I read it as a goodwill gesture / incentive / sop to other people, who have got to this point much more expensively, than this hypothetical student will have done.

  • Saving Photoshop CS4 file for Photoshop CS3

    Hello
How should I save a Photoshop CS4 file so that a client running Photoshop CS3 can open it? In other words is Photoshop CS4 backwards compatible with Photoshop CS3?
    Marlene

Just save it. but keep in mind that any CS4 features that you may have used will not be available in CS3.
Always save with maximize compatibility on.

  • Photoshop CS3  Hangs for over a minute upon opening a file

My Photoshop CS3 (Windows XP) all of a sudden takes over a minute to open any file. The programs starts fine, then when I select a file to open, the program pauses, then hangs for over a minute and the photoshop window becomes blank before the file finally appears. Any suggestions? Thanks.

For a limited time, Adobe has opened up the Photoshop Photography Program for all customers worldwide – in other words, for the next couple weeks there are no qualifications or eligibility requirements at all and anyone can get it...
Pricing, components, and all other details of the package remain the same.

This is a long shot, but if anyone has a copy of DW CS3 for Mac they would like to get rid of, please PM me, thanks.

It comes from a previous thread - CS3 is the last version prior to the shift to CSS and the deprecation of HTML presentation.

  • Adobe photoshop CS3 versus adobe photoshop lightroom 2.3

I already own adobe photoshop CS3. Is it worthwhile to get adobe photoshop lightroom 2.3? Is it easier to use?

You can check out some of the free Lightroom tutorial videos here
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/lightroom/articles/lir2am_videotutorials.html
to get a sense of how workflow goes in Lightroom, and what Lightroom can do. I also agree that taking the free trial is going to give you a better sense of whether Lightroom will meet your specific needs than any answers you'll get here.
Lightroom is considered to be more newbie friendly than Photoshop. All arts editing programs, as far as I'm concerned, if they're any good, have a learning curve to master the features, and Lightroom is no exception, but LR's learning curve does tend to be less steep than Photoshop's for many users.
Many forum members who do have extensive experience with both programs have posted here that they now do the great majority or all of their editing with at least most of their images in Lightroom. Photoshop still has things it can do that Lightroom cannot do or cannot do as well, so it's not uncommon for people to post here that with an image that needs something exceptional, they'll still go over to Photoshop and put in some heavy duty editing time there. Adobe has made bouncing back and forth between the two programs easy. But often with Lightroom, you can make an image quite good with just a minute or two of edits, once you quickly get the hang of the program, and it offers many advantages in organization of large blocks of images.

  • Upgrade from photoshop cs3 extended to photoshop cs5 photoshop

I am trying to upgrade from Adobe photoshop cs3 extended to Adobe photoshop cs5

    Can someone please help me!!
    Thank you,

Contact Adobe Support.   The Software disk may not need to be returned.  You might be able to simply purchase the proper license and perhaps pay the difference in cost -- they can tell you the options.  I believe that there is an upgrade path from academic software to a regular license.

  • Cannot install, Photoshop CS3 conflicts with Photoshop CS3

Here's the correct sequence to uninstall the CS3 beta and install the final, shipping version of CS3:
    1. DEACTIVATE the Photoshop CS3 beta;
    2. Run the Adobe Uninstaller currently residing in your ./ Applications / Utilities /Adobe folder to uninstall the Photoshop CS3 beta;
    3. Run the 'CS3Clean' script that has been posted to remove the bits and pieces that the uninstaller misses.
NOTE that you cannot just drag the CS3 beta folder to the Trash like you normally do with other Mac applications.
    To install CS3:
    1. Repair Permissions.
    2. Install CS3 according to the instructions.
    3. Repair Permissions AGAIN.
    4. Activate the software.
here is the link to the clean script:

*"HOW DO I RECTIFY THIS?! im pulling my hair out."*
Sorry, dude. No sympathy. You're committing software piracy and telling the whole world about it. Not smart. If you want to run Photoshop, then buy your own copy.
For help with (un)installing Photoshop for when you get your legit copy, I suggest you post your question on Adobe's discussion forums, as it's their product, not Apple's.

  • Photoshop CS3 Installation alongside Photoshop 7

I have been using Photoshop 7 sucessfully for years but I have downloaded a trial version of Photoshop CS3...
I would like to install the CS3 on the same computer as the Photoshop 7. Will this be an issue or am I expected to uninstall the Photoshop 7 first?
I cannot find anywhere basic instructions to install CS3.

I had ver. 6, 7 and CS2 on my computer along with Elements 3 at the same

(outside of when upgrading) that the other was there. Ive seen some were

  • Photoshop cs3 starts from photoshop elemets 7 without camera raw

I'm using photoshop elements as a picture album organizer and start photoshop cs3 from elements. When changing from elements v5 to v7 (because of having a trouble with the raw of a canon 50d), I got a strange problem:
    - When I use the elements editor, the camera raw is starting
    - When I use Bride CS3 to open the raw, camera raw is starting
    - When I use elements 7 to open the raw in photoshop cs3, the picture appears direct in photoshop, without using camera raw
Could someone help me to have camera raw starting photoshop out of elements 7?

    It's a known problem:
