Used Drivers From Disc - Should I update? - Z77A - G45

So, I bought a Z77A-G45 to swap out with a dead ECS board, and used the disc to install the drivers. My question is, should I update the drivers from the msi site, and if so, which ones. I noticed there are about 7 different updates for various things on the board. I'm worried about driver updates crashing, and creating problems.

As the disc drivers are usually quite old try downloading from product site and install latest. just try all available for your OS

  • Extracting individual drivers from BC 2.1  update ?

I am trying to sync a Windows PDA (Vista OS w/Parallels),,and don't want to do a total update for fear of getting problems that many of you are having trouble with. So, I am wondering whether I for example, get the bluetooth drivers (or any other separate drivers)directly out of the .exe process?By the way,I downloaded the 228mb update, placed it on my Parallels (Vista Desktop),clicked on the update to see what would happen, and absolutely nothing happened, not even a setup menu? I keep seeing mention that I should put my Leopard CD in to my drive to get drivers for BC,,but aren't those drivers already installed as part of the Leopard? From what I understand, my Parallels setup is not using BC (no separate partition setup), but still the Vista OS goes to get BC drivers I guess, and that is why I am thinking that I should be needing those drivers, but without the whole update.

The bootcamp drivers on the Leopard DVD are not installed anywhere by default. The Bootcamp assistant is, but not the drivers. The drivers are on the DVD in a separate partition... when you put the DVD into the computer with Windows running, you will see just the Bootcamp driver installer (not the Leopard installer.)
The BC 2.1 update is a .msp file embedded into a self extracting archive. I have tried a few tools to take apart the .msp with no luck.

  • Obtain drivers from MS-Server and updates from WSUS

    Hi,
is there a possibility to obtain drivers from the MS Server and the "other" updates from the WSUS-Server?
We have workstations with Win7 and XP and pluged in devices (USB) should obtain the drivers (if available) automatically from MS-Server.
Obtaining drivers through WSUS is not an option.
The Group Policy "Computer Configuration\...\Windows Update" is set to obtain updates from "intranet Microsoft update service location".
Should there be no possibility to distinguish between driver and update obtaining locations,
then is it possible to set WSUS as primary obtaining location and as secondary the MS-Serve?
    Greets,
    Emmanuel

Like I mentioned before I tried to use this:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753091.aspx
    1. Try:
    Step1:
I uninstalled the device and deleted the driver of my testing device. (local)
    Step2:
I have created a new GP on Server 2003R2x86 (AD/DC) and linked it in the OU where my test-PC is located.
    .../ComputerConfiguration/Administrative Templates/System/InternetCommunicationManagement/Internet Communication Settings/TurnOffWindowsUpdateDeviceDriverSearching-->disabled
    Step3:
I restarted the test PC with a logonscript: "gpupdate /force"
    Result:
    It didn't work.
    2.Try:
Same procedure, but instead of creating the policy on the '03 Server, I created the policy with RSAT for W7.
    Result:
    It didn't work.
Now I have a new question:
Isn't the above mentioned policy for this?:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/automatically-get-recommended-drivers-and-updates-for-your-hardware
I ask, because this is exactly the setting that has to be changed so that everything works the way I want.
(at least for the Win7 PCs. I don't care much about the XP-PCs because they will be replaced in the near future)
Well one option is to change this setting manually on every PC, but this would be a huge PITA.
Can this be done in a policy or with a script (registry?)?

  • Failed bios update Z77A-G45

Just looking to see what might have caused this and not a potential fix.  (board is already at the retailer, techs looking in and will send in for RMA is he cant figure it out)
    My system:
    Z77A-G45
    3770k
    Kingston HyperX 8gb
    Seagate 2tb 7200
    XFX 7850
    XFX 750w XXX
    Windows 8 Pro 64
Flashed one time with M-flash, Bios version 2.8 DL from the motherboards MSI page and followed the BIOS flash SOP accordingly.  Only thing is that BIOS flash SOP said nothing about the USB having to be formatted in FAT32 file system.  I flashed while my USB was formatted in NTFS.  It did flash properly and I did all the necessary update through Live Update afterward.  The thing is that after the update windows explore would become unresponsive quite often and in some websites when I move the cursor over links or picture it would breakup and become pixelated.  So I did the same Bios update again through M-flash but this time in FAT32 and needless to say it did not update properly and just kept rebooting.
So what might have cause this since I did the exact same thing for both updates and the time when I went about it incorrectly it works
Now I really feel stupid for not getting the GD65 with the dual bios as originally planned.
Also can some with the same motherboard confirm this for me.  The S/PDIF led in the rear panel. I swear it was Green the first day the next day while fiddling with the new case I noticed it was Red.  What color is it suppose to be .
    Thanks

Thanks for the info xmad. I will look into the forum flash tool, so I figure the problem should not have been cause by the fact that I flash the first time in NTFS, since that udate made it through without problem.
Also when you say that the M-flash is prone to fail does that also apply to using the USB as a portable BIOS chip cause that didn't work for me either.  If that the case im really contemplating on treating this a lost and get a new board Dual Bios board.
So I was just reading your stick topic "Bios Flashing & Intel Management Engine" agian I find this very funny cause it saids nothing about this in the instructions for the newer bios.  I can imagine it not being in the owners manual since it was not need for the every version of bios, but one would figure MSI would update important infomation like this on the instuction for the newer versions.
    thanks

  • Should I use drivers from NVIDIA web site?

I have an MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition OC graphics card and have noticed that the NVIDIA web site has newer drivers than those available on the MSI web site.  Can anyone please tell me whether I should use the NVIDIA drivers or should I stay with MSI drivers?

    Nvidia always!
I have now removed the MSI driver version 266.77 rebooted then installed version 280.26 from the NVIA web site. I am happy to report that the installation went without a hitch and everything seems to be working well.
Many thanks for your advice Junior.

  • 6 Disc Series, need to use bits from Disc 1 on Disc 5, but only as a 'special feature'...

Ok,  so now I'll try to explain it with a few more words than the title allowed for
I'm working on a DVD series, there will be 6 discs in all,   5 are closely related (Remedial Massage Therapy - Training Course)
Some relevant info:     Each disc is a separate Premiere Project.
There are some techniques demonstrated on say Disc 2 which are relevant to something being treated on Disc 5..    Now it’s not really the best case scenario to keep repeating said thing on Disc two (which is one way to do what I’m asking I guess).
If you watch Disc 5 right through, it’s fine – it all makes sense, BUT we’d like to be able to put together a ‘Special Features’ playlist so that people can watch for example: Everything to do with treating the Shoulder.     (There are some shoulder things demonstrated on Disc 2, Disc 4 and Disc 5)
Is there a way to do this?        I’ve only ever used one edited video on one timeline at a time in Encore so I’m not really sure what it can do..
If anyone is able to help me out with an answer that’d be greatly appreciated.. Sorry if my question isn’t making a whole lot of sense – I’ve tried haha, been a LONG day editing.. .
    Cheers,
    Rory O'Donnell

You can also use a playlist, and chapter playlist, to play all the special feature parts. For example, let's say you have a timeline for the video from disk 2, a timeline for the part from disk 4, and you have your timeline for disk 5.
I assume from what you have said that you have one timeline on disk 5, and that you want to play only one - or two or three - sections from that timeline. The following assumes that you will have them marked as chapters - which you can do in Encore.
You make a Chapter Playlist for the disk 5 timeline, including only the one chapter you want, or include more. Then you make a Playlist (not a chapter playlist), and include the Chapter Playlist you just make, and the timeline of material from Disk 2 and 4. Your special features menu can play all by pointing to the Playlist, or each disks material separately.

  • How do I reinstall from disc after downloading updates?

I'm having a system problem. The dock does not respond properly, (it pops up where you initially mouse over it, but only enlarges in that area. Nothing happens when I click on the apple in the top menu bar.
I ran disk firstaid. It found and "fixed" a bunch of stuff, but it did not seem to help, so I ran it again and it found a bunch of stuff and "fixed" it again.
Since installing Snow Leopard from the install disc I've downloaded and installed several updates.
Will I have a problem going back to the install disc? Is there some special procedure to follow before reinstalling, (I know I should backup).

Reinstall the OS from the install disc. If that fixes your problems, then rerun Software Update to get back to the latest.

  • Do I need to uninstall drivers from install CD before updating to 2.09.00

    Hi,
Re X Fi Fatalty Sound Card.
I have finally got everything working (more or less) properly by installing from the Installation CD.
Now i would like to update the drivers.
Please tell me whether I can simply install over the existing files, or do I need to uninstall everything again, before updating to the latest drivers available on the Creative website?
    Many thanks
    Palmer.

e don't need to uninstall... the proper way is run the driver update with all intalled!

  • Using CS6 from a disk after updating to Yosemite

I have a mac book pro & CS6 on disk.(& was installed on my computer & used for the past 2 years) It disappeared! Why? I updated to Yosimitie & now when I try to open AI or any of my past documents or the applications it gives me an error about having a Java 8 update. I followed the instructions for the update...& reinstalled my disk....but it's still not working. Help please! It also says illustrator.app instead of just illustrator CS6. I don't want to use the creative cloud but rather the super expensive software I purchased two years ago.

1st, did you tell Apple that their update broke your software?
2nd, Yosemite sometimes has problems, often related to "default" permissions needing to be changed

try turn off multi monitor and see if it will become detected
else attach monitor to intel GPU and take out the discrete card and see if that would works
It worked i had to detach my card then install the driver and go in the Bios like you said and turn off then back on and all is well thank you so much sir

  • Should I update my drivers and software I see new drivers in late 2012..i have never updated

should i update my bios, drivers etc. my computer is 3+ years old and I have never done any updating from HP

You should only update your BIOS, if there is specific feature that has been added or fixed that you need support for. Flashing the BIOS is risky and should only be done when absolutely necessary.
As far as the drivers are concerned, update them if they fix an issue you are experiencing or provide a new feature you want/need. Updating driver is much less less risky and easier to fix if needed.

  • Will newest intel drivers work on my Z77A-G45 Mobo

Hi so i seen over at the win 8 forums i go to they have a new intel chipset driver that just came out found over here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=816&DwnldID=20775&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Chipset+Software+Installation+Utility&lang=eng  was wondering if these newest drivers will work on my MSI Z77A-G45 motherboard figured i would update them to the more curent ones if they would work??.

OK thought so and yeah you are right my system is using that rapid storage driver i went in there and it gives me status of drives and also what drivers version its using so i won't touch it , so should i just remove this intel smart stuff  its the latest one it looks like it auto updates itself lol.

  • Z77A-G45 start up-shut down loop with more than 1 stick RAM

New Build, personal use and doing it myself:
    BOARD: MSI Z77A-G45
    BIOS:   *?* click-bios reports "E7752IMS V2.5", but "MS-7752 VER: 1.4" printed on board?
PSU:      Thermaltake 850-watt Black Widow 69A 12v rail
CPU:      Intel Core i7-3770K BX80667i73770K - Quad Core, 8MB L3 Cache, 3.50GHz, 77W, Unlocked, fan included, no extra cooler yet
    MEM:    Corsair Vengeance CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 2x4GB 1600 MHz, 9-9-9-24, PC3-12800, 1.5V
    HDD:    WD Blue WD10EALX 1TB, SATA 6Gbs, 7200RPM, 32MB Cache
CASE:  Thermaltake VN770M1W2N Overseer RX-I Full Tower
    OS:     Win7 Pro 64-bit
System bought as bundle including the 2x4GB Corsair RAM.  Assembly went well but took me a long time to make sure I had it all right.  Then, nothing happened at power-up, no lights or anything.  My first reaction was to replace the included Thermaltake power supply (700 watt 52A 12volt rail) - I disconnected all power to the unit and removed the original psu and, on a whim, I booted up with the original power supply outside the case and the lights came on with the psu laying on it's side!  Got the start-up and shut-down loop (lights up and spins all fans for a few seconds, then shuts down and repeats ad infinitum), which I was not expecting. Replaced the original power supply with the Black Widow (specs listed above) and got same shut-down loop.
Started checking the memory sticks one at a time in DIMM2, each produced that shut-down loop.  Also tried with two sticks of Patriot Viper 3 PVI316G160C9K 2x8GB 1600 MHz, 9-9-9-24, PC3-12800, 1.5V (which doesn't appear on MSI's compatible list...but I had it handy) Then, With the last 8GB Patriot stick in DIMM2, I finally let it go through that shut-down loop 5-6 times out of frustration, and then it suddenly powered up "normally"!
I took advantage and have smoothly installed Win7 Pro, and mobo drivers from CD, no glitches, USB working fine.  Then tested each stick - all 4 RAM sticks work individually in DIMM2, but the board will not accept a 2nd stick in 4 without that same shut-down loop (tried using either matched pairs).  Manual specifies using DIMM2 and 4 (which are the black ones) for dual channel.  Have also tried slots 1 and 3 (blue) with same shut-down loop results, no BSOD or error codes, not even any beeps.  Computer boots normally and runs Win7 just fine with one 8GB stick in DIMM2.  Also boots Windows and runs fine with one 4GB Corair chip in DIMM2.
Have done CMOS clears and also re-seated the cpu and heatsink/fan, and all pins and board connections looked OK.
Have some problem getting into the BIOS screen to look at things - seems to boot up so fast with a re-start that Delete key and F11 don't quite catch before Windows starts (8-year-old Logitech USB keyboard?).  Have to completely power down and start up to get into BIOS, but that doesn't always work either. System recognized the memory change to the Corsair stick, but the screen went by so quick I couldn't catch it to get into BIOS.
    Questions:
    1) I've searched this board and read for hours about similar shut-down loops problems, but either nothing seems to match my particular quandary or I don't know what to look for.  I don't understand what's happening with this shut-down loop - since all four sticks work individually in DIMM2, could DIMM4 slot be defective and I need to RMA the board?
    2) I have not yet removed the board and tried to start it outside the case - could a short be causing the 2nd slot to malfunction?  Standoffs are built into the case but they didn't seem too low, and the amount of standoffs matched the mobo mounting holes wiwth nothing else protruding.  It's a really solid board that did not bend when being attached. It's also possible to look down behind the board with the front cover off and see that nothing is touching it.  Will breadboard it next, since I have to take it out, anyway.
    3) Where exactly is the Bios version printed on the board?  Click Bios reports version as 2.5 but appears that 1.4 is marked on the board.  Have done no updates of any kind, only thing I did was disable the splash screen so I could see POST (like I could read that fast...!).  Do I need to contact MSI to find out what Bios version actually shipped with this board?  It's OK if I got an older board with updated BIOS, but it's confusing when something different appears to be printed on board.
Additional info:  Phase lights - LED is lit and all lights flashed at boot-up. CPU temp running for three hours idle is steady 37-38C, mainboard system temp 25C.  Went with a larger power supply because I intend to use Crossfire and more drives in the near future, but using onboard video for now.  System to be used for graphics/video processing with multiple programs running.
I'm currently working from an ASUS M3A78-CM board with AMD Phenom 9650 2.4 GHz.  I've never dealt with an MSI or an Intel system before, and the Click-Bios is something new to me.  Alas, I'm not an expert, but I've followed the basic steps I knew.  What did I do wrong, overlook or just plain don't know?  I sure would appreciate another opinion before I give up. I'm amazed at the speed of this motherboard/CPU combo - it's probably more than I need, but I'm intrigued to figure it out.
    Looking forward to those opinions,
    Jilliebob

Do this, and while it is in the open re-examine your cpu pins w/ a bight light and hd zoom or a magnifying glass.
Thanks, xmad, I'll look at th CPU again tomorrow/next day under the glass when I take the board out.  I already checked them under magnification and was leaning toward a funky board, but it never hurts to re-check.  Eyesight is not what it used to be, for sure (I miss DOS, if that's a clue...).  Don't want to flash the BIOS if not necessary, since it runs Windows fine and everything works except that RAM.
Bernhard, I don't have CPU-Z installed on that machine and don't want to install anything else until it's working normally.  I'd never seen Click-Bios before and just need to get over my initial suspicion of something new!  Also learn my way around it before I change anything.  I'd never encountered a board reporting a bios different than printed on it.  I've never messed with manual memory settings or done more overclocking than just a little exploratory and suprisingly successful nudge - if you could point me toward a  good basic explaination of all those settings, I could learn from there.
    Appreciate your input very much.
Have learned a lot just reading the threads here for the last few days.  This is the best forum I've ever encountered.  I'll report back - some suggestions in other posts resembling my problem ended with no resolution, and that's a shame because one doesn't know if it worked or not.

I clean installed 10.6 from disc then updated to 10.7 from download.
Now every time my computer goes into sleep it won't wake up.
The only way it will restart is to pull the mains lead out of the imac, put it back and try until it will start.
This only happened after reinstalling.  Only Apple OS was on the imac and so it must be an issue with the software I believe.....
Anyone know how to cure this problem please?
    Thanks

This isn't a fix, more a workaround I used when I had wake from sleep problems that lasted from some point in 10.6.x, through 10.7 and into 10.8 (got fixed for me in 10.8.2). It seems to be connected with Bluetooth failing to wake up properly:
System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.
