Used MSI Updater 5 to upgrade bios in Windows now no boot

Like the topic says I can't boot at all now. Even using a winpe disc it will not boot and trying to repair OS hangs during "loading files". Tried 3 different hard drives (new).
Any hope?

I don't have WIndows installed on my Toshiba Satellite PSL33E. Does it possible to create boot CD to upgrade BIOS on my notebook ?

This is only possible if you would have an Toshiba traditional BIOS update version.
But the point is that Toshiba European driver page DOESNT provide such BIOS.
Theres only a windows based BIOS which means that you can update it only from running Windows OS.
Sorry, dont think that you could do this. Oohhh wait maybe the ASP in your country could help you. Maybe the authorized service provider can update it using a floppy disk.

MS-7345 P35 Neo2 - Attempted Liveupdate BIOS v1.8 - Now cannot Boot

Installed Liveupdate3 from MSI which quickly directed me to download and install the new BIOS update (1.8).
Liveupdate did the necessary - I installed a Floppy as a rescue BIOS disk as instructed.
Installation completed but rebooted to CMOS Checksum Bad message only. Neither F1 nor F2 options allowed progress out of this error loop. If I remove the Floppy and allow a reboot then I get a message suggesting there is no operating system. Eek!
Have tried rebooting from rescue disk but settings appear not to save. CMOS setup won't allow disabled protection.
Also tried CMOS reset followed by fresh reboot from Floppy but after prompting for Time/Date settings the same error message ensued.
I appreciate that similar issues have been posted before but, as a newbie who is struggling to find what the critical factors here might be, can anyone help me to see the wood for the trees? Any assistance greatly appreciated.

We usually advice not use MSI Live Update at all. Flashing a BIOS from Windows is a risky way of flashing and if there is no definate reason there is actually no real need to update the BIOS in the first place.
Now, back to your problem. A few more questions:
- Do you remember which BIOS Version you were using before Live Update attempted to flash v1.8? Do you have a chance to look at floppy disk on another computer?

The "CMOS Checksum Bad" message and the F1/F2 input request are actually normal after flashing a BIOS or clearing CMOS.

Go back to Boot Camp: on the 2nd page you get this:
Download the support software and as Windows is already installed uncheck the 2nd box.

Odd error (-3001) when using Software Update since Leopard upgrade

Whenever I try to install anything that shows up in Software Update now, I get this error:
You do not have appropriate access privileges.
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again.
However, I AM connected to the Internet, and I AM an Admin. I should have no problems doing this, and the issue only tarted when I installed Leopard. Anyone know of a fix?

Anyone have any ideas about this one? Still can't do a software update.

MSI GT70 0ND-622AU - Accessing BIOS/Finding Windows Product Key

Looking for answers to the following questions on my MSI GT70 0ND-622AU please.
1. How do I access the BIOS? There's no "Press blah for setup" prompt when powering on. Only an MSI screen.
2. How can I locate my Windows 8 Product Key. There's no stickers on these laptops including under the battery. I'd like to install an SSD as the primary drive and assume I'll be needing it to install the OS.

Updating Video IPod Once Formatted for Windows, Now Using Mac

The subject pretty much explains it all. I'm trying to update my ipod to the latest software version, but when I attempt to update it, it says that it can't be updated because the Ipod is already formatted to Windows.
What should I do about this situation?

i do not set to auto update. I see no real point in having 2 hard drives full of the same music. I have backed up my MP3s on 4 dvd's. I like to keep my hard drive clear for other projects.
There are tools to bring the songs back off the ipod. Maybe I'll let that run over night. The TV shows I purchased were on the windows machine. Maybe they will be lost forever.
I guess I won't be installing this update anytime soon.

HP ENVY dv6-7246us SSD Upgrade, Problem Installing Windows 7 with boot from usb/dvd disc.

Hello everyone,
I have recently purchased the dv6-7246us and have upgraded the HDD to a SSD. The problem I am having now is that I can't boot from the usb or a dvd disc that contains the Windows 7installation. Originally this laptop had an HDD with Windows 8. I have changed the boot order multiple time to boot from the USB Harddrive and the DVD/CD-ROM disc and still have no luck booting up from the installation. Is there a solution to this problem?

Did you go into the BIOS and change it to Legacy Mode?
I believe you need to do that in order to boot from another device other than the hard drive.

Using MSI liveupdate to flash bios

I used MSI liveupdate to uppgrade to bios 1.4, I been told it was more stable then 1.3 for ocing, now I wonder if I got any warranty left?

I am not sure I understand what warranty you are worried about. Flashing your BIOS via Live Update shouldn't void your warranty. The BIOS updates are recommended by the manufacturer and, if anything, they should make it more likely they will honor your warranty. OC'ing is another story entirely. MSI doesn't warranty your board for OC'ing, despite the fact that they use it as a marketing ploy to sell the boards in the first place. MSI, like most other manufacturers, wants to have its cake and eat it too. On the other hand, I am not sure if can tell if you were OC'ing or not if you wipe the BIOS before sending the board back to them. Unless you physically alter the board, they probably have no practical method of proving you were OC'ing unless you tell them. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

Please advice whether the Kingmax Hardcore DDR500 (PC4000) 512MB DDR-SDRAM compatible with my systems.

The "safe mode" that the BIOS message refers to is not related to Windows' Safe Mode. The BIOS safe mode lets you un-do any overclocking or memory settings that might make your computer so unstable that you can't even get into the BIOS settings to change them. In that case, you hold insert while powering on to reset the BIOS to default safe values.
As for your problem getting into Windows' Safe Mode. If you upgraded from another motherboard that uses a different chipset, or if you somehow got the wrong chipset drivers installed, then the old AGP GART or chipset drivers will cause the system to halt/reboot very early in the Windows boot process even in safe mode. I've run into this problem before and its tricky. Best thing to do is switch back to the old motherboard, then go into safe mode and remove all chipset-related drivers, and then switch back to the new motherboard. If you can't do that, try running system repair from the windows setup CD. And failing that, you'd probably have to fully re-install the OS.

First of all you have to check if the Toshiba drivers published on the European drive page support the A80 series which you have.
The drivers on the page are designed for PSA80E series.
If you have changed the OS to English version I need specific XP drivers;

Flashing BIOS in Windows 7, without USB drive

any way to setup a cd/dvd boot drive to flash the bios? or is there a windows 7 program that will flash it?

in windows 7 what you can do if you have Nero is create a bootable CD using nero , then copy the unzipped bios files to the CD, boot to CD , then change drives to your CD drive (it will be one letter lower than in the OS) then execute the command to flash from there

CAUTION : DO NOT USE LIVE UPDATE OR WINFLASH TO UPGRADE THE BIOS!

I've been having trouble with my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum motherboard a few weeks now.
My system configuration is not heavy at all and consists of
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum nForce3 Ultra
AMD64 Venice (E6) 3200+
2 x 512Mb DDR400 Geil RAM 2.5-2-2-5 in dual channel configuration
VGA ASUS 9600XT/128/TVD
SB Audigy Value
1 x HDD Maxtor 200GB 7200rpm
1 x DVD-RW Pioneer 107D
PSU Addtronics 420W (12V 18A)
2 case fans 12cm
2 USB devices (Joysticks)
Here are the facts:
1. The system was working great from mid-July until mid-September.
2. I always close down the PSU power when turning off the computer at night (when I turn it off) in order to have come protection over our crappy power service.
3. One morning, when trying to turn the PC on, I followed the normal procedure I did each time. PSU ON, waiting a few secs, Power button ON.
That morning, the PC did not boot. The monitor still displayed 'No Signal' but I could hear the fans working. I was ready to leave for work so I just shut it down to
investigate after work in the afternoon.
4. To my surpice, and without doing anything at all, when I tried to turn it on that evening it fired up just fine!!!!
5. A couple of days later, same thing. No boot, no post, no video signal. This time I had the time so I started investigating:
Checking the D-Bracket at the back it was Red-Red-Red-Green, which I found out from the manual meant 'Initilization of VGA'... I thought my VGA just died,
so I shut down the PC, removed the power, took out the 9600XT and put in an older nVidia Ti4200 VGA I had spare.
6. The system fired up normally!!! Ok, I say... The VGA must be the problem. Let's test it. I installed the 9600XT on another PC and it worked fine!
Oh... So it's not the VGA at fault!
7. Once again I replaced the Ti4200 back to my prefered 9600XT. Pushed the power... No good... No post, no boot, no video...
8 Replaced 9600XT with the Ti4200... Everything worked!.... I started to get worried. WHY doen't the ATI card works and the nVidia does ?
Consiracy theory immediately crossed my mind.
9. I have spend more than a month to find the cause of this. I posted to this forum for help, but best suggestion was to replace my PSU as not enough.
420W not enough for a bare minimum PC? I mean.. Come on!?!?!?... I calculated with the proposed PSU calulator what I needed and I would be fine
even with a 350W PSU and 12A on the 12V rail!. I had 18A... And some recommended to get a PSU with 30A on 12V !!!!!
That means that I had to spend another 150Euros to get a new PSU while it was not needed!??! In brief.. yes.
The problem was elsewhere as I found out.
Searching and reading in this forum I found out that a lot of people have the same problem as I did. Most of them indeed had weak PSUs and needed
more power. But there were a few that should be fine.
What I found common to all those cases was that there was either an ATI Radeon VGA or an nVidia 6800 involved!
And in almost all the cases the user did a bios upgrade just before the problem started.
Well, that it!... the BIOS upgrade. I tried to remember and finally did, that I started having these problems after I used the LiveUpdate function to update
the BIOS of the motherboard to 1.9 and once again to 1.b. But both times I did it from within windows using the winflash utility and the default options.
It seems that the default options did not flash the whole bios. They left out the boot section. As a result the system booted ok with the nVidia Ti4200,
an older generation card, but NOT with the ATI 9600XT which was newer generation.
What I did is to reflash the bios using a startup floppy and following the instructions found here : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=86257.0
After the setup boots etc, I powered down the PC, replaced once again the Ti4200 with the required 9600XT and the system power up and booted fine!
It's running rock stable since then (48hrs already), but I have yet to see if the problem will appear again, as it only happened from a cold boot and not
during a restart or anything. I hope it will be ok.
So, I'm writting this as a warning.
Take caution and do not upgrade your BIOS from within windows. It's better to spend a couple more minutes to prepare a start up floppy and upgrade
from there, that to have problems later.

Not true.
File read operation can fail mid-flash. I agree this is safer that running the exe off a floppy, but it is not as safe as flashing from a RAMDrive (as per JayBee), which doesn't rely on a read from any media across any kind of BUS. Plus the RAMDrive needs no such partition on the HD so why bother with the hassle?
Flash from RAMDrive is not fail safe either of course but when run on a PC with a UPS that's about as safe as anyone can get.

MSI KT8 Neo2 F board, upgraded cpu and used MSIs Live Update, now unstable BSODs

I've had this mobo for almost 2 yrs now with an AMD 3500+ cpu and recently upgraded that to the FX-55. To do that, it required using MSIs Live Update and needed newer chipset drivers. It has the latest bios according to Live Update.
It took a few attempts but finally booted w/o BSODs and has been running for over 1 week BUT is still not right. It's sometimes unstable and will crash (BSOD) just by starting up a browser. I had the bios settings at "optimized" and have tryed a few other changes but so far, I'm not gaining. Last night I couldn't keep it running more than a few minutes w/o it crashing.
I have the MSI manual for my board and plan to spend some more time playing with it tonight but might anyone here have any ideas? It's not running hot (reads 50C) and was stable before with the 3500+. I've tryed "Fail Safe" bios settings too but nothing's better that way either.
I'm hoping that someone here has a few ideas?

After initially running this with the new cpu, I'd see the "searching for MAC address" message and it'd hang there on boot. Someone told me that was because it was trying to do a network boot, selected in the boot sequence SO I've unselected that and that's when things got worse (oddly as it shouldn't IMO). One can select the 3+ boot devices (floppy, USB, CD-DVD rom, HDD) and it use to see the HDDs (2) before but now I'm not (only floppy and CD-DVD rom) and if I unselect the ethernet option (boot other devices), it fails to boot at all and says "insert floppy" as if I was installing Win98 way back when (running XP Pro btw). Something's definately not right with my bios selections.

Let's go back to basics here for a bit. Start by posting your complete specs in your signature like we do. Make sure that your PSU values are also in there.
Let's also look at some tests to help determine where the issue is. I would recommend Memtest86+, OCCT, Prime95, and 3DMarks as a great first series. Also get CPUz and lets see what it shows for CPU and Memory.
If we can get an idea where things begin to fall apart then maybe we can determine if this is driver, hardware or some other issue without having to make the flash happen first. The reason why I am avoiding the flash at this point is that if things are mostly working maybe there is some other cause than Bios. We know that some FX's work with 3.x and some that don't. So I would like to try a bit of checking before we dive into a flash that could cause more issues than it solves if we get this wrong. As things are mostly working now we can assume at least for the moment that maybe the flash is not needed. If we don't see anything during testing that sheds some light then maybe we go ahead with the flash.
That is if your willing to take some time to try and sort this out and maybe learn some stuff in the process. It is of course your call and we will respect whichever decission you make here.
