Useless call blocking that can't block blocked number

I have had enough can anyone tell these clowns at apple I want to be able to to block
People who withhold their call I.d
Not just my friends
Seriously android perfected this option years ago.

The original question raised in this thread is perfectly correct - why cant you simply block a caller who withholds their ID - Android can do this with ease!
chai2030 response does not understand the question, yes with IOS7 you can block callers who leave a number but you CANNOT block someone who leaves no caller ID - WHY NOT!!!!!!!!  Andriod users can easily do this!!!
I get loads of annoying sales calls who withhold ID - so so annoying
Just got my Iphone 5S as a present, but the lack of this feature means I will go back to Android asap.

    If you include a country number, you have to drop the initial 0 from the area code. eg +31 10 2345 6789 instead of +31 (0)10 2345 6789

  • Useless call centre - how can I get an intelligent...

    My broadband is dropping every couple of days, often for 5 to 10 minutes.  Red lights on the modem and the BT Home Hub  splash screen on the computer saying it can't connect to the internet.
    I phoned the help number and spoke to a call centre presumably in India judging by the accent and odd use of the english language.
    He checked the connection at his end and said it was fine.  I repeated that it was OK now, but it had dropped an hour earlier, well as every couple of days.
    "Now I have to explain something to you sir.  Your hub can accumulate blockages.  It is like static electricity they can make your light turn red and block your connection."   WTF?  He asked me to reset the hub to get rid of the static, despite the fact that I'd told him I pull the power on the hub every couple of days in the vain hope it'll speed up the reconnection (it doesn't).
    Then he said again that his computer says there is no problem with the network so the fault must be in my house.  So I repeat that the problem took place an hour ago, so the connection is fine now.  I asked if the dropped connection an hour ago showed on his computer.  "No sir. I can see your connection is fine". I asked about dropped connections in recent days, but  he said there had been no dropepd connections.
    He then started talking about wifi settings and that lots of devices on wifi can cause problems.  So I repeated again that the box has a red light and all my devices can see the homehub interface, but we cannot get connected to the internet.
    Then he started on about making sure we have the right wifi channel.  So I said I wasn't going to talk about wifi anymore, the problem is with the network, and it happened an hour ago, and it happened on other days.  "No sir, your connection is fine, I will email you some details about how to improve wifi in your house."
    I then said I didn't want to talk about this anymore and I would end the conversation. I put the phone down.
    Then my mobile rung "Sir, I have to tell you about your wifi."  I reply "No thank you, I don't want to discuss this with you"
    Then my moble rang again "Sir, there are some things I can tell you about fixing your wifi."  I reply "No thank you, I don't want to discuss this with you"
    arrrrggggghhhhhh !
    Is there any way of speaking to a person who understands that a red light on the modem and a homehub that says it is dicsonnected from the broadband might actually be a problem with the broadband connection?
    Also when I've had the same thing a few years ago I though the helpdesk operator could see how many dropped connections had taken place?  The chap tonight was insistent there was no record of dropped connections.
    edit to add:  I'm on a Hub 5 type A plugged into the master socket.  No other sockets in the house.

  • I can't show the number of whom I call

    When someone calls me, I can't see the number. Unknown number appears on the display, even for those who are part of my schedule.

    That's a function of caller ID as sent from your carrier. If no number is sent, you will not see either a number or a name. If a number is sent and the number does not match one in your address book, you will see the number. If it does match, you will see the name from your contacts.
    Contact your carrier.

  • Java - Instance variable that can reference an array of integers?

    Hello,
    I have the following question in my assignment:
    Your first task is to declare a private instance variable called cGroups that can
    reference an array of integers. You should then write a constructor for GameN. This should
    take a suitable array as its argument which should be used to initialise cGroups.
    In order to test your code for declaring and initialising cGroups, you should execute
    the following code
    int[] coin = {2, 8, 5};
    GameN aGame;
    aGame = new GameN(coins);
    and I have complete the code below but it's not working. maybe I'm reading it wrong or
    not understandin something. Could someone correct it? or put me on the right lines
    private int[] cGroups = new int[]
    public GameN(int group1, int group2, int group3)
    super();
    this.cGroups = {group1, group2, group3};
    }

    ShockUK wrote:
    I've changed it to
    private int[] coinGroups = new int[] {1};
    public Nim(int group1, int group2, int group3)

    int[] coinGroups = {group1, group2, group3};
    }But I still get the same error "Constructor error: Can't find constructor: Nim( [I ) in class: Nim"
    Look at the line that error is pointing at. You're trying to use a constructor that doesn't exist. This is not a problem with creating an array.

    Dear SAP expert and gurus,
    Would like to seek for your professional advise and consult on which report in MM that can capture the PO number, PO value and cost center.
    Kindly advise.

    ME80FN is a good report that captured the PO number and amount. However, the cost center is not being captured here. is there any suggestion?
    ME2K is not an ideal report to user cause, user requires the data to be shown in one line instead of 2 to 3 line.
    Is there any report like ME80FN can be captured PO number, PO value and Cost Center.

    I am being stalked by an ex-boyfriend who either calls from a blocked number or a prepaid calling card.  Is there any free app for my Iphone 4S that I can download that will block a "blocked" number and/or numbers from prepaid calling cards besides paying for smart limits?

    You need to keep reporting the continued harassment to the police and the court that issued the restraining order. The only technology certain to protect you from such lowlifes is carried in a holster.

    Of course not.  Number blocking must be done by your wireless provider.

  • Call Blocking -- Why can't we do it?

    The simple question is, "Why can't we have an app or option to block unwanted calls, without jailbreaking the device?"
    Some of you are going to say, "You can through your carrier." This is only partially true.
    Verizon allows you to block 5 (just 5) calls via their website. But why have to go to their website to do this? What if you have a company-paid line and don't have login access to their site? Why do you have to renew your blocked numbers every 90 days?
    My Blackberry Storm had an app that simply intercepted the call and dropped it or directed it to VM, if I had put the number on my block list. Blocking the contact was a simple as selecting the number from the incoming call list and choosing, "Block this contact" from the menu.
    This seems to be related to the lack of flexibility in how calls are received by each contact. There are no separate controls for volume and vibrate that can be set per contact. If there were you could turn off vibrate and silence the ringtone for contacts you didn't want to be disturbed by, at the very least.
    Had I known this simple functionality was not available I would not have bought this phone.

    Thanks for the replies.
    roaminggnome: I know it's not a feature. I am lamenting that very fact. And, yes, it was a great feature of the Blackberry (and others). Why does Apple not allow it? There has to be some business reason because it should be easy enough to accomplish if apps could intercept a call before it alerted you.
    I also know that true call blocking is a carrier-level function. Wouldn't it be great if you could block the number on your iPhone and the option was saved on Verizon's server? Why not? Aren't smart phones supposed to be smart? I can easily block calls on my home phone through AT&T's U-Verse service.
    Instead you have to jump through hoops to create a silent ringtone (or buy one). You have limited SMS tones to choose from and people talk about jailbreaking their phone just to add more. This was all easy and free on the Blackberry.
    The Google Voice idea would be great if my true cell number weren't already out there. I really don't want to have to change numbers and have to redistribute it to all who should have it.
    I really thought the iPhone would be like the Mac, with lots of cool options and functionality. I've had Macs since 1984. I may have been mistaken.

  • Hi All can anyone help me, I have a Iphone 4s and I'm currently recieving nuisance calls via a blocked number is there anyway I can stop my phone accepting blocked numbers? Cheers

    Hi all I'm Currently recieving Nuisance Calls via a Blocked number is there anyway I can stop my Iphone accepting Blocked Numbers? Thanks

    There is a way! I'm very happy to share this and hope it helps those who find themselves plagued, as I was.
    I have been getting nuisance calls for months from some muppet, who hides his phone number before he calls at 3am. I need to keep my phone on, in case any of my immediate family have an emergency. I'm sure many have the same problem, just turning off the phone is not an option. I have been to two or three shops to ask the experts and none could offer me a solution. I was on the verge of tring to jailbreak my phone or even get rid of it to get an andriod one...That's how bad things had become.
    Anyway, this is my solution, which I found by trawling through page after page on the internet, for ages and trying various other solutions first. I have an iPhone 4S and the operating system is 6.1.3 and I am in the UK, on Orange, or EE as we should now call it. I cannot promise it will help everyone, but it works for me.
    Go to Settings, Do Not Disturb and switch this on. Underneath here, go to Notifications, then Do Not Disturb again. Then Scheduled and set the times you want the restrictions to start and end. For example, I use 7pm to 8am, so that I know I won't get nuisance calls during this period, but whatever times work for you. Underneath, it says Allow calls from and you can select your favourites. If you haven't saved any of your contacts as Favourites, do so, it's very easy. Just go to contacts, open one and underneath the number there is a button to Add to favourites. Repeat for all close friends and family you want to be able to reach you at any time. All your favourites should be allowed to call. I think you can have 50 numbers in the favourites. But any unknown caller should be simply sent to voicemail.
    Apple have had some previous issues with the Do Not Disturb feature and to be honest this didnt work 100% of the time for me. If you find the same, don't give up. I suggest you do as I did at this point and use an app called Call Bliss, which seems to have cracked it. (I have NO connection to them and it's no skin off my nose if you use this app or not). There may be other apps that do the same, or even better for all I know. You have a free one day trial then it's £3 if you want to continue to use it. For me, £3 to solve the problem was money very well spent. If you need this app, download it, then do as suggested above to the point where it says Allow calls from and this time you select Bliss Exceptions. Follow the instructions in the app.
    There are two modes, I use suppress mode, which allows all calls to get through except those from unknown callers and those specified by you. I believe the other mode blocks all calls, except those you specify. Please note, the app only works when the iPhone is locked. Your lock might come on after the phone is not used for 5 minutes or so, or you can lock the phone by single clicking the on/off button (not holding it down).
    I hope this helps anyone as much as it has done me.

    Hi! I already blocked a number, unfortunately i recieved a call from that number just now ( though i didnt answer it) i checked my call history but that number wasnt registered in my call registry. why can it still contact you if u have already blocked it? pls help! thanks!

    Hi.  I checked on the order and it says the order is currently being processed and I should check back tomorrow. I'm mostly just concerned because I got an email saying the order was on hold, and I want to make sure it actually does go through and I'm not just waiting for a delivery that's not going to come. I'm still confused as to why I'd get an email saying I had to call the fraud department only to be told I shouldn't have called the fraud department.

  • How Telemarketers can avoid call blocks

    My friend got a voicemail from a number which she had already blocked. It was a scammy telemarketer and she asked me to figure out how they did it. I had her block me and then found out that sure enough I could sent her a voicemail from my blocked number. I initiated a chat session with support to find out what could be done to block this and was told that she should call the "Unlawful Call Center". She did and for telemarketing calls she was given the option to put her number on the national do not call list!  For "harassment" calls she was told to file a POLICE REPORT  and call back with the report number. Needless to say she doesn't want to file a police report for every scumbag telemarketer that figures out how to send voicemails to customers who have blocked their numbers. And it's easy enough to do that I expect they all will start doing it sooner or later. Any suggestions?

    You (she) might take a look at a FREE service called NOMOROBO (http://www.nomorobo.com/). It does require that the user's phone has a feature called Simultaneous Ring, which Verizon's Digital Voice does have. What happens is that when your phone rings, it rings at your house and at their datacenter at the same time, they take a quick look at where the call is coming from, and if the number is in their database as a robocaller, they just hang up, so the call is immediately disconnected. So your phone rings once, nothing more, and I don't see any way they could get access to voicemail with it working that way (but I don't use voicemail so I can't say this for sure).
    I have been using NOMOROBO almost since it started, I love it. I still have the one ring, and the call still shows up on caller id on my phone, My Verizon, and the TV, but it is amazing how many calls it will intercept, with no enless ringing. As I said, it is a free service, very easy to sign up for, and if you don't like it or it doesn't work for you, it is easy to turn off.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there a firewall that can block an application?

    I'm looking for a firewall that can block applications.
    The firewalls for linux that I've found using google and also the one I'm using now can not block an application. There used to be an option for iptables (-m owner --cmd-owner programname), but since kernel 2.6.14 they've removed this option for iptables.

    eric, when you say u want to block applications, do you mean you want to block some of your applications getting out, or illicit use of ports for someone to get in ?
    if its the latter, it may be that the firewall rules regarding "accepted, related, established" cover this as when you make rules, whichever firewall application u use, you can drop any incoming connections that arent following the state matches in your ruleset.
    if you are concerned about ports being open to accept certain programs data, go to www.grc.com and use Shields Up to check. its a long while since i used any of this as i have a hardware firewall/router now, so apologies for lack of detail.
