User account says I "don't have sufficient access privileges"

I'm the admin on this computer and it says I can't access some of my files on an account on my computer.
I tried repairing the permissions and everything but nothing is letting me into my own files.
how can I fix this?

You're logged into an admin account and trying to access files in the home directory of a different user account?
You can't do that. You cannot access the files of another user, even if you are an admin. As an admin, if you really need to, you can change that user's password and log into their account to gain access to their files. You could also log in as the root user, which can access anything.

I cannot sync my iphone.  My computer gives me a message that says, "I don't have enough access privileges".  After an internet search, one site said that I need to delete my photo cache.  How do I resolve this, and is it wise to sync?

    Hey veo1,
I found the following information about that error message:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.

  • I am unable to uninstall itunes (to install new version as well). It says I don't have sufficient access rights yet I am the Adminstrator. Anybody else with this problem? Is there a fix?

I have had a problem updating iTunes on my PC using Windows 7. It will not allow me to uninstall the current version of iTunes (10.2.2). The first Windows Installer box says: "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."
Then a Programs and Features box comes up and says: "You do not have sufficent access to uninstal iTues. Please contact your system administrator."
Well, I am the Administrator yet it won't let me do this uninstall. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave

Hmmmm. Nothing instantly springing out at me as looking wrong there.
Let's try reregistering the Windows Installer service.
First, launch a command prompt as an administrator. In your Start search, type cmd then right-click on the cmd that comes up and select "Run as administrator".
    At the command prompt:
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister and hit enter.
Type %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Type %windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver and hit enter.
Restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Any better luck this time?

  • Apple Jack (Single User Mode) saying I don't have Administrator Access

When I boot into Single User mode (Holding Command + S on boot) and try to use the Applejack command it says in big red letters that I do not have Administrator privileges to use it, even though the command line is Root. Any ideas?

By the way, you can always accomplish some of what Applejack offers by booting into single user mode and typing, at the prompt:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
This will check your startup disk.
    When it is done, type:
    reboot
Then press return for normal startup.
