User Accounts with Flash Player

The Flash player will only work with 1 account. I have 4 user
accounts on my
computer (Dell, dimension2350, 512 Mb ram, Windows XP, SP2).
ALL accounts
have administrative privilages. I am using Internet Explorer
6 (was using 7
and uninstalled it hoping that would help). I have
downloaded, installed,
uninstalled, etc. the player numerous times in each account.
NOTHING works. I
go to Adobe web site and run a test for the player and it
works fine
there---only there. I go back to a web site such as CBS news
and it will NOT
work. The site says I need to download and install the
player. What is wrong?
There is NO spyware, virus, adware, etc. on this computer. I
run Zone Alarm,
AVG anti-virus, and Spycatcher in an active mode. I am not a
computer genious
but have a working knowledge of functions and operations. Can
anyone help?
Thanks,

I tried awsmore's idea with no success, along with a couple of other things. Here's what I finally had to do:
I logged on as Administrator and ran the Flash Uninstaller.
Then I went to Control Panel/User Accounts and changed the account that was a Limited account to an Administrator account.
Logged off Administrator and logged onto the old Limited account (which now had administrator rights)
Installed Flash from the old Limited account.
Logged out and logged back in to the original Administrator account, went back and changed the Limited account back to limited.
BTW, Flash worked fine in the Administrator account although it had been installed in the other account.
Logged back in to the Limited account, which was now really limited again, and it worked fine.
Which makes me think that it's not just something keeping Flash from running in Limited Accounts, it's not installing there in the first place.
  Hope this helps someone else.
The files were installed with your user account as the "Owner", which essentially gives you administrative access to all flash player functions on the computer, even when you change the account from administrator back to limited.
This problem persists in Flash Player v10.2, six months after the fact.

  • Problems with flash Player

So I'm having a problem with flash player, and was wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing, or might be able to help.
    - Upgraded 2 computers to snow leopard, macbook pro laptop, and mac Pro tower (intel proc).
    - Laptop has no problems, everything renders fine, and without any difficulty.
    - Mac Pro doesn't display any dynamic data, text fields show up blank, some flash player controls don't work, brightcove player won't load completely... things are just not working right.
    - Main browser is Safari, but same problem exists in Camino, Firefox, etc...
    - I've had Safari Stand installed, but have since removed it.
    - I've removed GROWL notifications completely
    - I've got debug and developer menus turned on (but have that with the laptop also.)
Please see the screenshot attached. This graph should have text data on it showing the x/y axis, the key, as well as data when you mouse over each block, but doesn't show anything.
The second screen shot shows a brightcove player from our website... There should have full controls at the bottom, and nothing shows up. If I right-click, and go to 'view full screen', I can't then get out of full screen by clicking escape key on the keyboard, I have to use any player controls, or right-click again, and hit 'exit full screen'.
Anyone have any suggestions? It's something to do with my computer, rather than snow leopard, because flash works fine on my laptop, but not on the desktop. Any help is really appreciated !

    Hi!
I reached your post because I was having the exact same issues as you and I found a fix that worked for me! The problem is a font issue: I logged in with the guest account that had no users font installed and flash was working fine, so I logged back into my account and moved all the fonts in my 'User>Library>Fonts' folder in a folder in the desktop. Then I closed and reopened Safari and Flash was working!
In the end the problem was with a version of Arial that I had in my users' font folder: I deleted just that, put my users' font back in the folder and the problem disappeared.
    I hope it hepls!

  • Errors on my web site started with Flash Player Release a few days ago (Mar 28, 2012)

    Hi,
I have a Flash based video player on my website.  This was designed and implemented based on an article vy Lisa Larson-Kelley.  It has run flawlessly for several years.  But, when I installed the lastest release of Flash Player a fedw days ago (Mar 28, 2012), I am now getting really annoying issues with the Flash Video Player.
I expect that I will need to place insturctions for users on how to roll back their version of Flash Player, since this latest version is broken.
But, many of the people who visit my site are not tech oriented (they are mostly friends and family, so, I don't expect that they will really roll back their version of Flash player.
I am 100% certain the issue is the latest version of Flash, since these errors never occurred until I installed the latest version.
On my work laptop, I have an older version of Flas (10.x.x) and this probelm does not happen.  On my desktop PC at home, I have an older version of Flash 11 installed, and this problem does not happen (in IE9).  The version of Flash PLayer 11 where the issue does *not* occur is 11.1.102.63.
On that same desktop PC, if I use Chrome, (which automatically defaults to the latest version of Flash which is 11.2.202.228, I get the problems.  So, there is no question that the issue is with the latest version of Flash and not my hardware or drivers.  I get the same problems on three different computers.
My website has a username and password.  If someone from Adobe wants to replicate the problem send me an e-mail and I will send you the username and password.
The videoplayer on my website is at this url:  http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingFlashVidPlayer/VideoPlaylist.html (but, you will need the username and password).
The issue is that sometimes (not always) when you select a video to play, inistead of the video loading into the panel as it should (sized as 1025 x 578), instead, all you see is the control skin.  The video begins to play, but all you get is the audio.  It looks like this:
You can recover from this error by using the skin control to make the image full screen, but, the video looks poor at fulls screen, because it is created at 1024 x 578.  You can then get the correct size by returning from full screen, but, I don't want the pepole who visit my cif\deo playet to have to go all through that.  Especially since most won't even know enough to try making the video full screen.
This doesn't happen for every video on my web site, but, once it *does* happen once...it will happen for every video selection you make.
This is unacceptable, and it absolutely a function of Flash version 11.2.202.228.
Adobe:  Please fix this bug as soon as possible.
I've implemented an HTML5 based video player and have begun populating it with mp4 versions of my video clips, but, quite honestly, the playback using HTML5 is much worse than with Flash.  I encoded the clips in the HTML5 player with the same Variable Bit Rates as in the F4V clips, and, in the HTML5 player, there are missed frames, and the audio can get out of sync.  So, I *want* to keep using my Flash Based video player, but...if Adobe doesn;t fix this, I will just dial down my VBR till I find one that is slow enough to play in HTML5 and ditch Flash.
My HTML5 video player is here:
    http://www.jjjhi.com/TryMakingNewVideoPlayer/NewVidPlayer_option1_jth.html
(again you need the username and password to use it, send me an e-mail and I will give them to you, I just don't want to post them in an open forum).
Here is a bitmap of the page:  It is quite snazzy looking and is based on an excellent class from Chris Converse at Lynda.com.  But, even though it is 'snazzy looking' the HTML5 player performs poorly on an under-powered machine (like my work laptop).  It uses 100% CPU and misses frames and the audio loses sync.  The same videos encoded with the same VBR for Flash (F4V) play great, *except for the new issue described above!!!!)
I Adobe can fix this issue with Flash Player 11.2.202.228  ASAP, else, I will  have to 'downgrade' to an HTML5 based video player, that, quite honestly does not perform as well as Flash.
If you want to reproduce the problem contact me at my e-mail address: [email protected] and I'll send you the username and password.
You can then prove that the problem does not exist with prior version of Flash player (before 11.2.202.228) but *does* exist with this latest buggy release.
    Thanks,
    John

    Thanks.
I sent the username and PW to you and Chris.
    Cheers,
    John

  • Camera just up and stopped working with flash player. SUUUUPER annoying. Any ideas?

    Hi:
Windows XP SP3 32bit, latest updates applied
    Firefox 3.6.6 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100625 Firefox/3.6.6 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET4.0E))
    IE 8.0.6001.18702
    Flash Player 10,1,53,64
HP EliteBook 8530w with built-in HP camera (brand spankin' new).
So Flash Player today decided it doesn't want to work with my webcam. I have pulled my hair out trying to figure out what the problem is. The camera works fine with other video camera software, such as Adobe Flash Live Encoder 3.1, for example, or the various Microsoft cam tools. But Flash Player just won't see it. When I visit a website that uses the camera through flash, all I get is a black box. I never get the privacy screen that asks me if I would like to allow the site temporary access to my camera. If i go into my settings, and go to the camera tab, it shows my camera device in the dropdown box. But you know how if you double-click the little box under the dropdown, it should activate your camera and display a little video inside that box? That doesn't work for me. All I get is this:
It doesn't matter if I use FF or IE. I've re-installed Flash Player, both the FF version and the Ax version. To no avail. I've logged into my computer as a different user, because hell maybe it's some weird dumb thing in the Flash Player cache or something. Nope.
Now here's the super, super, super annoying part: I just recently moved to this laptop and one of the things I was looking forward to was a computer where my webcam would FINALLY work with flash player again. Yes, that's right: my old computer had this exact same problem. And in both cases, at one point the camera worked with Flash player no problem, and then at some point, it just stopped working.
This makes me think, of course, that the problem is some nefarious piece of software I've installed, but I can't think of what that is. I know the camera was working with my new computer as early as last week. Recently I've installed a bunch of software, including Adobe Media Live Encoder 3.1, Flash Professional CS5, and the Adobe Connect add-in. I've uninstalled everything except CS5, because, hey, who wants to re-install that if they don't have to? I'll do that as a last result, but the guy sitting next to me has the entire CS5 suite installed and camera works fine for him with Flash Player (same exact hardware too), so I don't think it's that. Other than that, I dunno. I've got VS2008 and 2010 installed. GoToMeeting. Office. That's about it.
So. Any ideas? Any thoughts on how I could even start to debug the issue? Logging or something? Any help is much appreciated.

    Yes.
    Victory is mine.
    VICTORY IS MINE!!!
    Solution:
    Go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg
    Set
    AVHardwareDisable=1
    to:
    AVHardwareDisable=0
Restart your browser. Done. Camera works now.
I really want to shout this solution from the rooftops, because try Googling the solution sometime. I did. I failed. You will too. Hopefully if I use some more 18-point bold font, Google will index it faster, because that's the way it works right?
I actually had no idea that Flash Player has a folder in Windows\system32 at all, and I definitely had no idea that this file existed. I am guessing some stinking app I installed decided I needed AVHardwareDisable set to 1 for some reason (effers). I found out about the location by just lazily searching through the windows registry for "Flash Player" and eventually saw it pointing to that directory. A little more poking around and I found this file.
Those of you who actively support this forum: please keep this in the back of your mind, next time someone has audio/video input problems with Flash Player. I've found an awful lot of forum posts from people with cameras not working, and I bet a good portion of them need this fix. Reinstalling Flash Player will not fix it. Here's hoping the solution comes up in Google for the next unlucky soul.

  • Some Flash Sites are not displayed with Flash Player 9

    Hello everyone,
After having upgraded to Flash Player 9 I cannot view some
flash sites on either FF or IE.
I have checked around with other users also and they cannot
    see them either.
Although the page seems to be loading with title etc. it
remains blank or it shows a blank block where it is supposed to be
    the flash movie.
The problem is that it only happens to dynamic flash sites
that load text and images from external documents.
With Flash Player 8 they worked just fine.
The problem is that it is our company's page so we want to
have it up and running for everybody.
You can check the page here:

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

When a customer's business website goes down after installing
Flash Player 9 he just wants the site back up. First I had to
    figure
out that they installed the Flash 9 player and then I had to
go to the Swish site to find out that Swish files won't run right
    on
the Flash 9 player unless they get patched first. After
running the downloaded patch on all the swfs on the site (yes
    uploaded
correct files and cleared the cache) there were still odd
things happening. I didn't have time to analyze why this was so, I
    just
had to put the site back up and fast. Now that I have that
site back up (I have others that will need fixing too, no doubt), I
will go back and test everything again with Swish.
There are a whole lot of hours being lost over this
Swish/Flash9 player issue. Regardless of who's fault it is, there
    are many
    Flash sites down now.

  • Help with Flash Player- Not Playing

I recently went to a website where it said that i needed to
download the latest version of Flash Player. I followed the
directions and installed it, and the movie came up after
installation, but on the website it still said i needed to install
flash player again. I went through the other forum posts and tried
everything, but it still wouldn't show up. Then today i was on the
website and finally the video came up, but then when i refreshed
the page the video was gone and it again said i needed to install
the latest version of Flash Player. The video has shown up twice in
the past day, then says i need to reinstall again. I've tried
everything, but the videos just wont show up. Does anyone know how
    to fix this for good?

JDB... your problems and solutions are different (and much
    more complex). Read this CAREFULLY.
Printable, lovingly formatted versions of these steps, valid
as of 9/15/2007 are available. I recommend printing them and
following along with the print version:
    .doc:
    http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.doc
    .pdf:
    http://www.supportflash.com/bent/flash_player_ocx_troubleshooting.pdf
The issue is this: You have multiple accounts on your XP
machine. One account plays Flash no problem, the other doesn't,
although both are Administrator accounts. Or possibly you have only
one account, and that account fails to play any Flash content. In
any case if you have ANY odd trouble with the Flash Player ActiveX
control for Windows as of September 2007, these should be your
steps. And yes, you need to do both sets of steps, in order!
The cause: This is usually caused by either or BOTH of the
    following problems:
    1. Leftover locked bits of an old Flash Player installation
    2. Registry permission errors (aka 'ACL's)
OK so what do you do about this?
ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player bits
    a. Open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
    b. Download the latest FP uninstaller from
    http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_14157.
    c. Run the uninstaller. If you get a notice saying you need
    to reboot, then reboot.
    d. Look at C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder.
    e. Does any file ending in .ocx remain? (flash.ocx,
    flasha.ocs, flash9d.ocx etc...)
e1. If no, then you don't usually have any leftover locked
    bits.
You're done with this part of the problem, proceed to TWO.
e2. If yes, then that remaining .ocx file may be locked.
    Right click it
and select properties and look at the version tab.
    What is the version number?
    f. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.16.0 or earlier?
f1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9.0.16.0 and earlier"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
    UninstFl.exe part.
Yes, you'll need to know how to use the command line to do
    this. If you're not
comfortable with that then take your machine to someone who
    is!
    g. Is the version number Flash Player 9.0.28.0 or higher?
g1. Use the uninstaller instructions from this technote:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/4da116d3
-- section "Flash Player 9 (9.0.28.0) and later"
-- DO NOT re-register the uninstaller. ONLY do this
    UninstFl.exe part.
In both the D and E sections above you'll need to use the
specific name of the control that remains
in the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash. So if you had a
    stuck flash9b.ocx[DJM1] in the folder
and version was 9.0.28.0, your uninstall command would look
    like this:
    UninstFl.exe -u
    c:\windows\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx
That said, if you have trouble running these commands it
really is necessary to find someone who knows how
to use the command line, either a friend or a local
professional. Or spend some time learning about the
    command line yourself.
    h. RERUN the uninstaller you downloaded earlier. This should
get rid of the remaining (now unlocked) .ocx file and fix any
    registry keys associated with it.
ALL of section "ONE: Identify possibly leftover Flash player
bits" is important. BUT this locked bit problem only happens on
maybe one out of 50 machines. So most people with installation
problems such as this are not going to have locked bits.
AND even after reinstalling you may still have continued
problems with Flash Player not being recognized.
Then we have to move on to section two..
    TWO: Registry Permission Problems
We have been working on Flash Player failures caused by
Windows System Registry issues. We have not been able to determine
what’s causing these permissions to change. But that change
prevents the successful installation of Flash Player ActiveX
    control (used by IE Windows).
Registry permission problems can be resolved using a tool
called SubInACL, built by Microsoft to correct system registry
    issues.
    Symptoms: What to look for:
    1. If you install Flash Player on IE and are unable to see
    Flash content on any webpage
    2. After installation C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
will have flash 9c.ocx in it but it failed to register
    3. It appears that Flash Player installed correctly, but
    unable to view Flash content
    4. Flash Player works on other browsers, but NOT Internet
    Explorer
    5. If you are missing groups in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT Advanced
    Permissions
    6. If you have run registry cleaners in the past, this may
    have corrupted your system
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding. Adobe
Systems cannot be held responsible for damage resulting from this
    information.
    1. Select Start > Run
    2. Type in “regedit”
    3. Right click on HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
    4. Select Permissions
    5. Select Advanced
    For Vista
Compare your permissions with the ones in this screenshot.
    http://www.supportflash.com/vista_key.png
For Window XP Pro or other flavors of XP
Compare your permissions with the ones in this document
“Troubleshooting system registry issues that prevent Flash
Player installation” (scroll down to the bottom of page).
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=kb400116
Notice any major differences, missing groups, incorrect
    permissions?
How can you repair the System Registry, what's the fix
Download SubInACL from Microsoft to fix permission issues
that prevent the Flash Player Installation.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=fb1634cb
NOTE: The Microsoft version of the .cmd script run by
SubInACL is not be run on any XP version other than Pro. HOWEVER,
the Adobe .cmd script in the above technote is tested safe for ALL
    VERSIONS OF XP!!!
If you have a Windows System Registry permission issue that
sounds like the one described above, SubINACL may be the solution.
Please note that if you have this issue on multiple accounts on one
machine you’ll need to fix each machine individually.

    Hello,
The last really supported Flash for PPC was 10.1.102.64, but if it's for like Facebook or such, people have been fooling FB to think they have a leter version installed.

Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

Running Mavericks on a 2013 iMac 21.5". I want to set up a second user account with different settings that meet the requirements of specific software. I need the files to be accessible by both users. I have made both the main and secondary accounts administrators. I have also enabled file sharing for both. Neither account can see the other's files in Finder.
How can I make all files accessible to both accounts? I read that administrator accounts automatically can see all files on the computer, but it is not working out that way. I have restarted the computer, to no avail.

Comcast only offers POP accounts, and one way to set up the account and enter all the settings before it connects to the mail server, might be to do it Offline:

  • I have problem with Flash Player. Full screen doesn't work correctly. Turning off hardware acelleration helps but I want this option to work.

Problem exist only on YouTube. When i want get full screen, I have black screen with audio. If I click few times full screen button it helps, but I want to go to full screen by one click.
If i turn off hardware acceleration everything is ok but vids looks terrible.
I have this problem with Flash Player 10. No 9 works good, but some websites wants no. 10

Generaly FP works, but problem is that i must press few times full screen button. Now i have turn off hardware accelleration, but movies are quite bad.
I have already installed newest graphic drivers but it didn't help.
Everything was good unless Flash Player and Mozilla notificated that update is necessary :<

  • High CPU usage with flash player

hi ive just recently bought an emachines em250 netbook and when using most websites with flash it works ok normally around 30 - 40% cpu usage, however when i use itv player it increases the cpu usage to 95% meaning it runs slow. i am not running anything else in the background and when i check task manager it shows internet explorer and system idle are using all the cpu. I read that its a glith with flash player 10 and installing flash player 9 fixes the problem, but i have tried this and it doesnt. any suggestions? my operating system is windows xp.

  • Having trouble with Flash Player in regards to youtube

    Hello,
Recently I started having trouble with Flash Player in regards to using it with youtube. Sometimes all I see is a blank white screen and sometimes I do see the video with no surrounding youtube webpage or suggested videos etc. Nothing has changed on my computer as far as I know except the usual updates etc. I have tried uninstalling Flash Player and reinstalling with no luck. I even tried an older version. I am running windows XP and IE and have McAfee for my anti-virus. I am not the most computer savy person in the world and could sure use some help.
    Thanks,
    Ron

    Hitomi,
Thanks for the links. I am pretty sure it is not a problem with Flash Player itself but something else that is causing this. I don't know how to do a "screen shot", but even if I did I don't know that it would do anygood to show that because the youtube video screen and surrounding webpage only show for a second and then it goes totally white.
    Pat,
    Here is what I found:
    Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
    Driver Provider          Intel corporation
    Driver Date               6/8/2005
    Driver Version          6.14.10.4332
Digital Signer               Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatability Publis
    Update:
This morning after doing some further reading and research on the Internet I tried running youtube in the  "InPrivate Browsing" window and youtube worked fine. So thinking I should delete my Internet Browing History, Cache, and Cookies, based on what I read I went ahead and did that but it still doesn't want to work. I think I did the deletions correctly? As I mentioned above I am not very computer savvy but can get by on the basics. Where should I go from here based on this info?
    Thanks,
    Ron

  • Whats new with Flash Player 9.0

    Hi all ..
i want to know whats new with flash player 9.0. what are the
    new features etc..
    thanks in advance

    > He is using stopAllSounds to stop sounds that are in
seperate swfs on an html page. I tested it, and it does not work.
    In my

    > I put 3 swfs on an html page (not loaded into each
other). On the third swf I have the stopAllSounds command. It stops
    only it's
    > own sound in the third swf but has no effect on one.swf
    and two.swf's sound.
    > The thing is I don't know if stopAllSounds ever worked
across separated swfs before in players before version 9.
    > tralfaz
I have confirmed his complaint. stopAllSounds works correctly
across multiple swfs on an html page using Flash player 8 but not
    with Flash Player 9.
Incidentally, there is another big "improvement" (they say)
that prevents you from uninstalling the Flash 9 player without
    running
their uninstaller exe. Unfortunately, their uninstaller
uninstalls all flash player versions (not just version 9) from ALL
    browsers
so if just want to remove player 9 from IE you are forced to
also uninstall it from FireFox etc as well. Great, huh?
