User Creation in EP7.0/UME

HI Experts:
We have recently installed CRM 5.0 based on NW2004s architecture, running on MS Windows Server 2003 with Oracle 10g Database. This is a test/training system.
Everything related to AS-ABAP is working fine, however, I am unable to create a user on the AS-JAVA side/UME/EP7.0. Whenever I try to create a user i get the following message:
"An error occurred in the persistence; contact your system administrator"
While I realize that this product is still in ramp-up, but I would love to hear what you guys have to say on this.

Hi Imran,
as I understadnd your post you have installed the JAVA stack of NetWeaver 2004s together with the ABAP stack...
This means that the JAVA UME is connecting to the ABAP stack with a read-only connecting by default. So you can't create users from within the UMS but only with transaction SU01 in ABAP.
I never tried to make the UME connection a read/write one, so if anyone else has a clue on that!?

Dear all,
I was searching the community because I had this same error and there was no answer of how it was fixed. So I'm sending how I fixed today in a customer environment.
1. Go to portal http://<portal>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcsecumewdumeadmin/UmeAdminApp
- select configuration
- folder "sap system based in abap"
- do the conection test
If the test fails, log on in client 001 and change user SAPJSF:
- assign role SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION (only this one) and one profile that has permission to RFC logon
- you can change the password too
STOP/START ABAP+JAVA
Go again to the portal above and test connection again. The tests should now be OK.
2. Go to portal http://<portal>/irj
- Log on with administrator user
Now you should be able to create an user.

Portal User Creation Problem

While Creating user in Portal i am getting following error Please help

Hi,
If it is ABAP+JAVA stack, we have to create user only in ABAP stack only. We cannot create user in portal. Once we create user in ABAP stack , we can login to portal using that user.
If there is permission probelm, please assign the permission to the respective user that is " manage_all" action.
Please let me know if you have any clarifications.

Automate User Creation Process in EP7 through ECC6.

I have a ECC6 Backend and EP7 installed on two Different Hosts.
My Requirement is whenever a User is Created in ECC6 , the same user is to be
Created in EP7 automatically. Role assignment can be done later.
Has any one done this ?

Currently we would like to keep the UME Datasource as AS Java only.
In this case is it possible to have a solution like say
1. Create a portal webservice which has a function to accept parameters required for User Creation.
2. This webservice will be called by ABAP whenever a new user is Created in Backend.
if yes then can u guide me in the Second Step mentioned above ?

User Creation in EP 6

I wanted some inputs for user creation in EP 6.
I have configured my EP for LDAP (MS ADS Deep Hierarchy writeable xml).
Using this configuration we should be able to create the users in Portal and they should be allocated to a group in the LDAP. whatever users i am creating in EP 6 Path (User Admin --> User --> Create User ).
Whichever users i am creating here cannot be used for authentication. Portal only takes the users in LDAP for authentication.
If the Data Source says (LDAP + Database) where are our users created in EP6 being created?
i also went and changed the properties in direct editing tab for ume as
ume.ldap.access.flat_group_hierachy=FALSE
ume.ldap.access.naming_attribute.grup=OU
still i am not bale to logon to the portal using a user created in EP6.
can anybody give me some insight on this.

The xml I have referred to probably doesn't exist on EP7 any more?! Anyhow, the change from your to another xml isn't supported in general. Check out the corresponding notes.

User creation in portal

HI,
Can we change the registration flow in the portal, so that a mail is sent to the email address and only when the user clicks on the link in the mail, the user account becomes active. Until the user clicks on the link and activates his account the user account should not be active.

Hi,
You could do it via the UME API, but you would have to code it yourself.
You could create the user via the admin functionality (but with the standard email generation disabled for user creation) , and manually lock it, or create the user via a custom WebDynpro or JSP front end that users the UME API to create and lock the user.
Then use a mail API to generate the email with a URL to a servlet running on the Portal server, which extracts an id of the user from the URL (either the username in unencoded form which is a bit dodgy, or using some unique number that you store against the user to be activated to associate the two) and again use the UME API to unlock the user.
Should be fairly straightforward providing you are confident with:
1 - Deploying a web application to J2EE engine containing a servlet.
2 - Can figure out how to use the UME API
3 - Can use a mail API like Javamail, which is straightforward

ESS/Mss user creation

Hello,
We are implementing ESS/MSS for our client.
Objects have been finished in Development and Quality.
Now we need to move things to production.
Now there is one doubt in my mind.
As per our client there will be around 100 SAP Users who will get SAP GUI installed on their machine.
But for ESS MSS all the employees of organization will be eligible.
Which will be around 500.
Now my doubt comes with Licensing issue.
How does SAP tackle such situation.
As a implementer of SAP do I have to bring some practice into consideration.
Does SAP charge for every licence they give to client at same cost !
All employees will not require SAP GUI on their machines. They will only access ESS/MSS.
We use same UME database for R/3 and Portal system.
Please clarify on my doubt.

As an implementer for ESS/MSS.... I have made separate roles in R/3.
For ESS:
Z_SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP (Copy of Composite role....given by SAP for ESS)
For MSS:
A separate role in Portal.
And one role in R/3 with following authorization objects for ESS and MSS:

I_QMEL <OBJ> PM/QM: Notification Types
PLOG <OBJ> Personnel Planning
P_HAP_DOC <OBJ> Appraisal Systems: Appraisal

Now when Basis team will create a user for ESS.
They will give Z_SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP role and Authorization role that we created....
other than this do I need to take care for anything else... in user creation process.....

Multiple user creation in R12 and migration of users

I would like to know how we can automate a process of user creation in R12, or is there a way to create multiple users in Ebiz with respective responsibilities.
Second case is, migration of users from one instance to another. The problem out here is selective users not all?

Pl search the forums for FND_USER package - you will find several hits that show how this package can be used in a programmatic fashion to bulk create new users and assign responsibilities. Examples are also available on My Oracle Support.
To migrate user, use FNDLOAD. See this doc - you will also find hits in these forums if you search.

New sap user creation

Hi All SAP experts,
My company has implemented 2 Systems SAP Landscape with one development and one production server which are running on R/3 Enterprise 4.7 (Kernel Release 6.20) with Microsoft SQL 2000 as database server.
I have the following questions regarding new sap user creation by using user copy function.
1.When I request to create new SAP User by using user copy function ,should I just create the user acct in DEV and transport it to PROD System? If yes, how could I do that?
2.When I request to create new SAP User by using user copy function, can I just create it on PROD System only? If yes, what is the impact?
3.When using User copy function to create new user acct, should I select all parts (like adress ,defaults,reference user, user groups.....) of the existing user to be cloned to new user acct?

Hi Leon,
Answer to your questions in their respective order:
1. You can create user in DEV and then make remote client copy to PRD system using scc9 t-code. Here you can choose user accounts and authorizations for the copy. ( Rem: Data will be overwritten in target system when copied).
You can also use client export/import(scc8/scc7)
But, When you do the client import from the exported files using STMS,you will have to select only one of the transport requests and then STMS automatically selects the other requests for you.
Then it will show you the different transport requests that you have created during your export, the client copy profile and the target system and client. The customizing and application data is deleted in the target client before copying for all profiles except SAP_USER. This is technically unavoidable (and hence the data will be overwritten).
So if you can afford overwritting of user data in target client , you can go with the above procedure.
2. Using user copy in su01, you can copy one user to another user only in that client and is confined to that system only. So yes, If you want 2 or more users to have same authorizations, profiles ,etc etc.. you can choose this in PROD system.
3. It depends.. If you want user to be in same group, then you can choose user groups. If you want them to have same authorizations , you can choose roles and profiles... If you want them to have same company address and others,... you can select address.. and so on.

Solution Manager 4.0, Red hat Linux 4.0 ES & AS, JSF user creation error

Dear SAP Gurus, Please advise.
I have problem during the installation of SAP SOL Man4.0

java Cripto: 1.4.2
when it go the step 34 out of 44 when it create JSF user creation, I am getting error
It could not able to create Java user.
It stops. this error is coming during sapjsf user creation.
is this bug in SOL man 4.0, any one able to successfully install on Linux.
I see lot of people had probem while doing on windows, but no one tried on Linux.
I really appriciate, if some one can help on this.

User Creation at the time of Self Registration not via Admin (xelsysadm)

Hello there,
I had a question related to User Creation in OIM via Self Registration (Create Request) and via "xelsysadm" itself creating one user via the web console.
Can I do this -
When a user does self registration then how can I directly create a user in OIM?
Right now: the user's request needs to be approved by xelsysadm first and then only that user can login into OIM and then only that user can be seen in OIM - I want to remove the "xelsysadm" gateway of approving the request.
I want that user directly to be present in the OIM as soon as he/she fills out it's information in the self registration pages. How can we do this?
Also, I want an email to be sent to the user to its email ID that he/she provided at the time of self regn containing its User ID and password in it from the xelsysadm email id. How can I do that?

Hi oidm
User Registration is R.O. which used for User Self Registration.
But if you see it carefully, there's no Approve Task (not workflow) in it.
It has three task
1) SV
2) PI
3) AAD
And if you see the request while approval it shows Awaiting Approval Data means it stuck in AAD.
Try to modify this, I can't as I don have any extra machine with. Try to modify this. It may not allow you to update it, you'll have to change its security level in Database level.

Can we Automate User Creation in SAP IDES?

I found this piece of information on Internet somewhere.
"SAP provides a simple user creation mechanism for IDES system. An enhancement is already active by the name USRADMIN this contains code that executes just after the user logon. If somebody logs on as 'MUSTER' with password 'IDES' it prompts to create a user. and after the creation MUSTER is logged off. If the password of MUSTER is changed the program also reset the password to IDES always. the password is hard coded in the code
For this to be active an entry has to be maintained in the table zides_user_procc . In this table we maintain the SAP system SID, client where this functionality is to be active and also maintain the reference user which will be copied to the new user ."

It was a while back, but the logic was like this:
User logs into webpage on intranet. Lets just say that authentication to that resource is dealt with separately here.
User is presented with a form and fills in info like
UserID required
FirstName
LastName
email address
Password
This info is used by some backend VB code which initialises an RFC connection with SAP.
Once RFC is established, a function module to copy an existing template user is executed (template user contains roles to copy etc). The new user is created as required and you can then log on & use it.
To be honest, most self service sandbox systems tend to be the log in using existing user & create yourself a user or run a prog which will do it for you.

GRC 10: Initial password for multiple users creation in a ARQ request???

Hi All,
I was trying to create a request in ARQ for multiple users. I noticed that, I could add all the necessary required information for multiple users using the template. I added the roles as well. However, I could not set the initial password for multiple users as the tab "User System Details" (where the initial password is provided for a single user) is disabled!!!
The users were successfully created in the R/3 system. However, due to non-availability of initial password, these users could not log into the R/3 system.
May I know how to set the initial password for multiple users?

I was trying to test this multiple user creation scenario. But I am surprise to get a template where in I have only below mentioned fields:
1. User Name
2. User Id
3. Email
I filled these details and uploaded. Then filled the "User Access" details. While submitting the request, I got the error:
"Last name is not mentioned for user id XXX"
But there is not such column in provided template by GRC!
I added 2 columns: First Name and Last Name and saved it and uploaded again. These details are not picked up!
Following are the only columns shown:
1. User Name
2. User Id
3. Email
4. Manager
Out of above, only "Manager" field is editable and others are disabled.
Last time I remember, I has got complete template with all the columns. Unfortunately, I have deleted it and not available with me now.
Any idea you have why am I getting such incomplete template?

OIM User Creation Error After OIM and OID Intregation

I am new in oim and i am getting popup error message for user creation from OIM application after oim and oid intregation through libovd.
Error message : LDAP create event failed : orclguid attribute has duplicate value.
please guide me for resolving error.
