User deleted

Hey everyone,
about a year ago, I broke my arch installation and wasn't able to fix it. After several attempts, I was finally able to boot up my system again yesterday. To my surprise, I wasn't able to log in with my user account. I tried the root account instead, but wasn't asked for any password, I just got logged in!
At least I didn't lose any data, all files in my home directory are still there. How is this possible at all?
And how do I proceed now? Can I safely add the user again as described in the wiki? Or would this result in the loss of data, because it would recreate my home directory?

I should have mentioned in the first post that I was aware of the pacnew files, I had them indeed, but there weren't any information about my user in them.
I've probably overwritten these files accidentally just like my /etc/fstab, which I had to edit in order to boot the system again.
I tried to reinstall the whole system about half a year ago, but dmraid on the installation cd wasn't able to activate my raid drive.
Apart from that I don't see a reason to reinstall it, since my system is up to date now again and I don't have any problems (except for my lost user account).
Anyway, I will backup everything in my home directory, recreate the user and see what happens.

Question on LDAP integration & user deletion

In the "Administration Console Help" Document it states:
"You cannot invite user accounts that are mastered in an LDAP-based user directory; these accounts are created automatically when you synchronize the LDAP directory."
Does this mean that after configuring a LDAP Realm, the users specified by the filter should be automatically pulled into OnTrack? I do not see ldap users when executing a blank search from the admin console. At this point, I also cannot log into OnTrack using a valid LDAP user. I was trying to see if OnTrack worked similar to UCM where the OnTrack user acct would be created once the user logs into the application.
What I can do is go to "Create User" and enter the email address for a valid ldap user. then I see that user in the full search. that user can also log in successfully.
I wanted to know what the expected behavior was: is there expected to be a required 'registry' of ldap users into ontrack before they can auth into the app? Is there some sync process that needs to be run to pull in the ldap users?
Also, is there any current best practice of user deletion? I see in the admin console that there is a note that states: "Note: User deletion is not supported."

It sounds like you figured this out.
There is NOT an explicit sync of users from LDAP into On Track. The On Track user object is created when the LDAP user first logs in (or when added to a Conversation by another user). After that point, the user will be visible in the admin console. (Note, however, that from the client, you can search for an LDAP user and add them to a Conversation's membership even if that user has not yet logged in to On Track. It does this by searching for the user in the LDAP directory, as well as in On Track's known users. This is a great way to "invite" other people in the organization to participate in On Track.
As for your other questions:
- The recommended way to "delete" a user is to mark the user "Disabled" in On Track. This will prevent that user from logging in and from showing up as a valid user in the client.
- Once a user "[email protected]" exists, it should not be possible to create another "[email protected]" user, even if the first one is disabled, and regardless of which realm those users are in.

Ymail user deletes appointment sent by Outlook 2010 user

Hello,
An Outlook 2010 user sent an appointment to about 20 individuals, some gmail, some ymail, some exchange users. The ymail user deleted the appointment from their calendar because
they could not attend, and the deletion removed the appointment from the originating user (Exchange/outlook 2010) calendar, and automatically sent cancellation notices to all of the other users.

Normally, the recipient will not delete appointment from the organizer's calendar.
Please make sure you use exchange version. If you use exchange 2010/2013, I recommend you use Get-MailboxFolderPermission -Identity the organizer's SMTP Address:\calendar | fl cmdlet to level permissions for a folder.
Besides, please check if the issue occurs when other users( such as gmail users or exchange users) delete appointment.

User deletes Installed Application / Directory

Can anyone help me? I have browsed through earlier threads but could not find an answer to my question.
My question is "What if the user plays around with the client(deletes the installed directory or removes or moves a few or all files) that is transparently installed on his PC?"
All documents talk about changing of JARS at the server but what about user manipulating at his end(Client end).
Please help me ASAP.

You are right in saying that JWS does not install any applications and it only caches JAR's. But my question was WHAT IF the user deletes the JAR's. In that case what happens when the user clicks on the desktop icon(created earlier)? Will he get an error? Or will he have to realunch the application again from browser by calling the JNLP URL? or by clicking on the desktop icon, JWS seamlessly calls the JNLP, caches again and runs the applicaiton transparently to the user?

CUCM 8.6.2 LDAP User Delete Pending LDAP Sync Status Inactive

BE6K ver 8.6.2
Client has a user who recently got married. They changed her account information in Active Directtory to reflect her new last name. At that point CUCM shows her as
Delete Pending
LDAP Sync Status Inactive
CUC shows
LDAP User has been deleted.
The user still exists in both CUC and CUCM and is actively takign and receiving calls. User has VM access.
Shorrt of deleting the user in AD and recreating her, is there a way to force this to re-sync?

Then that's expected to happen, for all purposes to CUCM/CUC eyes, msmith no longer exists and will be deleted, and a new user mjones now will be imported.
Depending on when the change was done and when CUCM detected this, it might take up to 48 hours maximum to delete the user
You'll need to associate everything to the new user, and also add that new user into CUC.
Or switch back her userID to the old one, and just change the surname for directory purposes.

User deleted, data not saved

My administrator deleted my account and made me a new one to fix a printing problem. The printing problem is fixed, but all my files are gone. From what I can gather when she deleted my old account she did not choose to save the files (there is no 'deleted user' in the user folder, and no disk image). I tried to use a program to recover deleted files but it found nothing. I used Virtual Lab. Any ideas on where the data could be, and how it might be recovered? The files are primarily rtf and doc.

Most recovery programs are set up so you can read pretty much any drive. They are set up so even if your drive won't mount normally and is in its last moments you can sometimes read data. If you're not seeing files after a simple removal of a user account that's what makes me wonder if some extra step was taken. Deleting an account usually places the old account files in a special folder in deleted users. This still takes up space on the computer so your admin. may have decided to move it to the trash and empty the trash to free up the space. Even then recovery tools should be able to see file remnants (emptying trash just removes all normal reference to the files but the data stays there and can be seen by those special programs) on the drive. There's two reasons (I can think of) for their not being there. One, somebody used secure erase. Two, your computer sees such heavy use that the the space now regarded by the computer as being available was overwritten by other file creation. Ask your administrator if they are in the habit of using secure empty trash. The second case might apply if your computer sees a lot of file creation and you don't have a lot of room on the hard drive so any free space stands a good chance of being randomly used.
I haven't actually used one of those recovery programs I am also thinking of something I have heard with reference to those programs and that is sometimes the programs will find files but the names are no longer available. I have heard of people recovering lots of files from bad drives but then having to face putting names on all the files again. I may be wrong on this, but maybe you're seeing the files but not recognizing the,. Maybe somebody else with experience using those programs can provide information.

Powershell Command to permanently delete items in ALL users Deleted Items folder older than X days.

Does anyone know a powershell command that can be run on Exchange 2010 SP1 that will permanently delete mail in the deleted items folder older than X days for ALL users in a specific database? This should include any user created subfolders in deleted items
also.
I know that seems bizarre to have user created subfolders in deleted items but we have found that users have discovered that if they create subfolders then their deleted items dont get purged at the regular retention period time.

Gnome-control-center - User deleting not working,

Hi all,
Using gnome shell, I am trying to delete a user I created for test using the same gnome-control-center; but trying to delete it now but when I press the delete key gnome-control-center crash with the option to delete files - and if I choose to keep the file an error come up: "Failed to delete user - Method "DeleteUser" with signature "x" on interface "org.freedesktop.Accounts" doesn't exist"

Prvent from the user deleting specific line in view table

HI,
In our Project we have a View Table which user can maintain ,
the user can change or delete the line (and fields) in this table.
what i want is for one line for specific combination in the table to prevent from the user to delete this line ,
so when he push on change mode and mark the line and push on delete i want to give him a error message that he can't delete this line (because the specific combination ).
i new for the concept of the PBO PAI....
so i appreciate any help or suggestions.

Change of User ID change before user Delete

I want to change user ID as soon as "Delete" button pressed.
I created an Entity adapter and set it at Pre-Delete.
I tested entity adapter changes ID successfully.
But user doesn't delete.
I cannot call this adapter on Post Delete.
Any idea ?

I got it work.
Here some clue i got while implementation.
As I had to write 2 Entity adapter one on pre delete and other post delete
Pre Delete adapter changes LogID
Post Delete deletes user using OIM API
But doing so It goes on infinite loop. So to break it I implemented in such a way I changes Login ID once on predelete and breaks and on post delete adapter takes USER.KEY as input parameter and before delete checks if user already deleted or not.

BEST PRACTISE on users deletions HR/SU01

we use CUA/SSO.
The records are fed from HR records and sent to Active Directory (AD)
AD brings backs the records and creates/changes users in SU01
A function module populates the CVR (timesheet) parameter dependent on whether you are an employee or a contractor
Occasionally, our HR department request records to be deleted from the SAP Support team - for example if the employee or contractor hasn't in fact joined the company.
Until some time ago, the deletion was causing problems because:
a) the record does not get deleted in AD and there is no way to send the deletion across after
b) when AD tries to reprocess that specific record, LDAP connector will not find it as HR record so what happens in SU01 for some reasons, the VALID from field gets wiped out and the CVR parameter for Timesheet also...
We have changed the process for the deletion however, I would like to ask if you know what is the best practise for this?? HR want to delete the record so it can be re-utilised
I cannot delete those records from UMR unless I am 100% sure they have never used the system (will have to check that)

So many people with the same name? Perhaps a suffix of 2 numbers when the ID naming convention produces a clash. Besides, do your AD admins not want unique names in the AD as well?
E.g. (just an imperfect example)
MUSTERMA = Alfred MUSTERMan
MUSTERMM = Manfred MUSTERMan
MUSTER01 = Mechtilde MUSTERMuller

Surest way is to determine that they have never logged on before. But that does not exclude that records might exist for them, which may eventually do a "user existence check" to be read. One such example is the Security Audit Log, e.g. there may have been failed login attempts.

End user deleted posted MIRO invoice, how?

Hi SAP Gurus,
Surprisingly user was able to delete the posted MIRO invoice (infact a paid invoice) using MIR4, then going to Edit- Display/Change and Invoice document-Delete. I can see the deleted invoice under Purchasing history in the PO but when i click on the Invoice it says invoice has been deleted.
How is it possible to delete the posted invoice. How can i track what steps she had carried out to delete the document?

Are you sure the document wasn't reversed versus deleted? In order to reverse the invoice, the payment document that cleared the invoice had to be reversed first.
Display the payment document FB03 that cleared the invoice and see if it has a reversal document.

User deleted from EBP

Hello Experts,
Below is the scenarion: (SRM 4.0 classic)
User A created few SCs.
Before all the SCs were completed(closed), the User A got deleted from the system
Now we recreate USER A with same ID again, and assign him/her to Org. Str.
User A, now cant access earlier raised SCs by him/her.
Could anyone suggest any way by which USER A can access all his earlier SCs. Or accessing earlier SCs is not possible?
