User did an append when doing a backup of SQL now trying to do a restore

User did a backup of SQL doing an append now getting the message:
The media set has 2 media families.....
The directory of the first media set was copied to an external drive. The system was then wiped to load Win7 what can be done to restore the files?

I gave myself full rights to the directory.

Even if its GB, the free space may be enough, depending on your files size, especially with videos or raw files.
When you start the backup process, it first shows you the total size of the catalog.

Hi,
You need archive log to do database restore to a point in time. But for that you need to have level 0 backup (FULL BACKUP) of the database. Oracle then usage the FULL backup and archive log to roll forward to the point in time you want to recover the database. It looks like you do not have FULL backup as well. So my advice will be to delete these archive logs and when you get a change. point the archive log destination to another directory and restart the database. Then take a complete Level 0 FULL backup.

Defer log shipping and RMAN-08137 message when doing archivelog backup

Hello,
in a Primary & Dataguard scenario in which we set to DEFER the log shipping to the Dataguard during a high impact process done in the Primary, we receive the message "RMAN-08137: WARNING: archive log not deleted as it is still needed" when doing archive log backup with rman.
Is it the expected behaviour due to the DEFER status with the Dataguard? or even in this scenario we might we able to delete the logs and therefore we have to look more in deep to find our problem?

Had a look on v$archived_log and found the archivelogs that are not deleted and the state for them is
DEST_ID=1
STANDBY_DEST=NO
ARCHIVED=YES
APPLIED=NO
as http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B12037_01/server.101/b10755/dynviews_1015.htm says , they are all Local, were archived and there is no apply needed for them as they are not defined to go to the StandBy Database.
Therefore, why can not still archive them? How can we check if they had been processed by a Streams process?

Error 256 when doing a backup

I am getting the following message when performing the first backup after loading Ilife 11. I did a complete restore, reloaded the program, fixed permissions and then still got the same message. Time machine is still performing the backup but not sure if all data will be captured.

Can't load disk image when doing first backup

Hi
I've had to erase my Time Capsule's Time Machine sparesebundle as it had a corruption. And now I am trying to do a first backup again.
Unfortunately, I keep getting an error message telling me the machine can't create a disk image; I have no idea why. I have tried changing my computer name in case that makes a difference (but I don't see why as the previous name worked fine for a year or more).
Since trying to start this new process, I have noticed that sometimes in the TM preference pane that the TC name is given a Time Capsule-1 as opposed to its normal name of Time Capsule.
Below is the log captured from the TM widget.

I tried to start the backup again, after logging out and back in again (as I had done several times before), but this time the sparsebundle loaded ok and the backup started properly.
So there's no need for anyone to spend any time on me.

I need to email a log of whether or not the backup was successful.
I can get the result of the most previous backup like this:

The only useful information I get from this is jobstate="Job Completed", start time, end time, jobitems, and versionid
It contains two additional blank items called SuccessLogPath and FailureLogPath
how do I set the SuccessLogPath and FailureLogPath for the backup?
I need to know if the job was successful or failed.

Itunes freeze when doing iphone backup

When trying to sync my iphone, itunes froze at the back up stage and I was unable to complete the backup or sync process. I was unable to close itunes and I had to unplug the iphone and turn off the computer. WHen trying again the next day, the same thing happened. I later found that all my music had been wiped from my iphone. Luckily contacts and diary are still there. I've done virus checks on my computer and it seems to be ok. Any suggestions?

IPhoto Events disappeared when doing a Backup

I copied my entire iPhoto library to a folder on my desktop . I then dragged the folder to my external LaCie harddrive. Although the photos copied to the LaCie, the Events in my iPhoto libary are gone.
39 Events for almost 5000 photos.
How can I retrieve my Events? Thank You.

After making a Time Machine automatic back up of my G5 to a LaCie harddisk I also lost al my events in IPhoto. It's the first auto back up since installing IPhoto9. Photo mode now shows all 20.000 pics in one single event. All the preferences in IPhoto are set oke as far as I know.
Anybody there with the solution?

HT1688 I did a back up and now trying to do the restore and it KEEPS saying there not enough space - I've deleted all kinds of things but it still keeps saying that. It shows more space available than what is actually used.

I'm tryin to get my iPhone 4s unlocked and I was told to do a back up and restore - well, over and over it says I don't have enough space for restore and I've already deleted a lot

If administrator makes changes to the users/groups in LDAP, when does
authentication provider will seee them? When user authenticates for the
first time? When provider initializes? Are user group assignments updated
dynamicaly by webLogic?

Which way you used to backup CA database, is it CA snap-in or Certutil.exe?
Please try to use the different way than you have already used to backup database to see if it works:

Brand new to Mac, does TM backup all users files, even when not logged on?

Hi Im brand new to Mac so please be gentle with me!!
Im about to use TM for backup, I have an account and have made one for my wife, as we both have an iPod and so Ive herd its easier to use 2 accounts.
She wont be logged on much, so if when Im logged on does TM backup the whole HDD, rather than just the user that is logged on?
if not how does it work to backup everything? do you have to keep logging on?

I have no idea what question the Apple person THOUGHT he was answering, but Time Machine backs up changes for everything in /Users (i.e., for all accounts) whether or not an account happens to be logged in at the moment. Just tested and confirmed.
THE TEST:
My Powerbook has an Admin account a Standard account and the Leopard Guest account.
I Restarted the machine, logged in as the Admin account, and turned off System Preferences / Time Machine. I then created a Text Edit file on the Desktop.
In Time Machine I verified that this file was visible in the current view of the Desktop but not in the immediately prior backup.
I then logged out of the Admin account and logged in as the Standard account.
I turned on System Preferences / Time Machine and did a Back Up Now. I then turned off System Preferences / Time Machine again to insure no further backups might happen.
Of course the Standard account can't see into the Time Machine backups of the folders from the Admin account, so I logged out of the Standard account and logged in again as Admin.
Looking in Time Machine, I now see the Text Edit file both in the current view of the Desktop and in the backup just completed by the Standard account.
I turned System Preferences / Time Machine back on, and deleted the test file. Looking again in Time Machine, the test file is no longer in the current view of the Desktop, it IS in the immediately preceding backup (the one that the Standard account initiated), and is not in the backup prior to that.
END OF TEST
This makes perfect sense since the file system event logs don't care whether a user is still logged in. Nor would a Deep Traversal backup care.
