User-friendly message to Microsoft Access form's user from Oracle server

I put statment like this
RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR (-20001, 'You forgot to enter date') in before insert trigger, so I see in my access form this message, but also a lot of statments like:
Insert failed,
ORA-06512: at ....., line 11
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger ...
Is there a possibility to leave only this user friendly message 'You forgot to enter date!', isn't it?
I would be very fankfull! Please help

Hi,
>>so I see in my access form this message

  • How to find users machine / IP who is accessing forms through Oracle AS

    Dear Gurus
    We need to know the users machine / IP who are accessing forms through Oracle 9i Application Server, how can we find that?
    thanks in advance
    regards
    Mehmood

    Mehmood,
    Set serverURL=/forms90/f90servlet/session in the Forms Web configuration default section or add it to the URL to start tracing host name and ip-addresses from clients. The output appears in the servlet log file application.log. sessionperf , perf and debug are the other options instead of session.

  • How To automate Microsoft Access Forms

    Hi,
    I am trying to use ActiveX to automate Microsoft Access Forms. Does any one have any example code of doing this.
    Thanks

    Well, not exactly an example, but sort of an answer can be found here. It looks like getting the reference to a form is fairly simple, so going on from there should probably not be too hard.
    Another option, if feasible, would be to use macros. There is an example in the example finder of this, but I'm guessing that's not what you want.
    Hope this helps.

    URGENT!Can I user a THIN jdbc driver to access a CLOB field from oracle 8.0.5 DB?

    I think you'd need to contact Oracle support to get access to older versions of the driver.
    Since 8.0.5 isn't supported any longer, however, is it possible for you to update your Oracle client to one of the supported releases-- 8.1.7 or 9i?

  • Problem with execution of  a forms in Intranet (IAS oracle Server)

    Hi every body!!!!
    I have a serious problem, that i could not resolve for more than a week, it's awfull!!!
    my problem is that i have compiled certains forms V6 in IAS oracle server with using the command f60gen, when i call certain of my forms from a menu in intranet, they could not be executed, even if every things is compiled correctly!!!
    Just a precision: the forms that i wanted to excute, calls another forms at the end of the trigger "when-New-Form-instance"
    another thing: i have released that only the forms that call other forms, that could not be called from my menu, all other simple forms are accessed correctly!!
    Can some help me please!!!!!!
    thank you so much for your help,
    Reda

    Thank you for your answer, but i will explain much more my problem:
    From my intranet, I have a menu in which a call my forms, and there are two possibilities:
    The first: there is a direct call to a Form in this case it is okay.
    The second case: there is a call to a Form A that will call a Form B.
    in the form A: there are just some initialisations to global variables and at the end there is a call to A form B in the trigger 'when-new-instance'
    I deployed theses forms in two machines, it worked in one machine, but didn't work in the second machine, so i compared the configuration of the two machines but i didn't find any difference!
    Just a precision: I have deployed Forms version 6, because i have upgraded them from the version 3.5 to 6 and the old versions work fine in the two machines.
    Thank you very much for any suggestions

  • Microsoft Access forms to pdf with hyperlinks?

    Help needed.
    I can convert Microsoft Word files to PDF and preserve hyperlinks.
    I wrote a new application for our parts department using Microsoft Access.
    When I PDF a form with a particular part displayed, it does not preserve the hyperlinks.
    Now I am in trouble because we need this feature for the engineers to be able to access supporting information about each part (data sheets etc.)
    Since the engineers are used to the "Microsoft Word" earlier version they are not amenable in going "backwards" with the "new" system and not having active hyperlinks to the support documents.
    I have searched everywhere for a solution and so far found nothing that works.
    I am using Acrobat PRO X and Microsoft Access PRO 2010
    please help as my "neck" is on the line...
    thanks
    Richard

    In Access try File->Save as PDF.
    If it's anything like in Word, the Save as PDF function does it a different way (ie. not via Postscript) compared to Acrobat. So you might get a result that way.

  • Non-technical user needs help with Microsoft Access/MS-Query connection

    I've read through some of the other threads on problems with the ODBC connection from MS Access to an Oracle database but as a non-techie I'm afraid I need to ask based on the steps I have always used. I'm not totally inexperienced as I have gone through the same steps on multiple Windows XP machine running different versions of Oracle and Office over the past 10 years but the steps aren't working this time. If there are settings that need to be checked or changed (path, etc.) I'm afraid I'll need specific instructions as to where I need to look for them.
    I'm currently trying to set up a connection on a new laptop running a 64-bit version of Windows 2007 Professional.
    1) I've installed a full 64 bit Oracle 11g client and 32 bit copy of Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013.
    2) I set up the Oracle data source using the client Net Manager. I can connect from there.
    3) I added it in the Oracle-provided Microsoft ODBC Administrator and can connect from there.
    I the past, after doing this, the was automatically included in the list of ODBC Databases in MS Acess but this time it's not. I tried adding it as a new data source by selecting the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle driver but receive the same  "The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found" error message that has plagued so many others.

    This is bad code, for lots of reasons:
    (1) Scriptlet code like this should not be used. Learn JSTL and use its <sql> tags if you must.
    (2) This code belongs in a Java object that you can test outside of a JSP. JSPs are for display only. Let server-side objects do the database work for you.
    (3) You don't close any ResultSet, Statement, or Connection that I can see. Microsoft Access doesn't save any records until you close the Connection.
    (4) You don't have any transactional logic. When you write to a database, you usually want it to be a unit of work that is committed or rolled back together.

  • Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

    Hello ,
    can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
    I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
    BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

    I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
    If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
    Many thanks

  • MS Access form bound to an Oracle OraDynaset?

    Hi,
    Unless, you are writing dynamic queries, you might want to
    define your outerj SQL in MS Access and then issue a simple
    SELECT in Reports against the outerj MS Access query (to MS
    Access this query is just another pseudo table).

  • Microsoft Access Connectivity in a UNIX DS server

    Hello,
    We are connecting DS on an AIX server to Microsoft Access.
    I know that this is possible via ODBC and a third party driver.  The one I found is by EasySoft.
    Do you know of any other options?  Or a preferred third party driver?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Update to others looking for this info:
    There is a driver from data direct. But it costs much more than the Easysoft driver.
    http://web.datadirect.com/products/odbc/other-data-sources.html
    Another option available was connecting to Access via Oracle. (If Oracle is on a windows box) http://www.orafaq.com/node/60
    For my project, they determined that pulling from flat file exports was fine.

  • Create a database link to access SqlServer 2005 view from oracle 11gr2

    Hi All,
    Greetings for the day.
    Though I have seen quite a few posts but just wanted to cross-verfiy and double check hence posting.
    Oracle Database : 11gr2
    OS :SOLARIS SPARC 64 Bit
    SQL Server Database : Sql Server 2005
    OS : Windows 2003 32 Bit
    The requirement is to access a view residing in the SQL Server 2005 Database using the Oracle Database. This involves creation of a Database link in the Oracle Database to access the SQL Server.
    Can you suggest which approach should i follow ( I am able to understand that both do the same job ):
    How to Configure DG4MSQL (Oracle Database Gateway for MS SQL Server) 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX,HP-UX) post install [ID 562509.1]or
    How to Configure DG4ODBC on 64bit Unix OS (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX Itanium) to Connect to Non-Oracle Databases Post Install [ID 561033.1]Will they do the same job ? And can they be used on any OS and version of the SQL Server Database as version information for SQL Server is not specified anywhere?
    Please let me know so that I can it forward with Business for approvals and budgetting.
    Regards

    Your question is similar to the post: Oracle 11gr2 connection to Sql Server using dg4msql problem
    Please visit: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4658942/oracle-11gr2-connection-to-sql-server-using-dg4msql-problem
    Answer on the website:
    You seem to be using the Gateway for MySQL set-up rather than the Heterogeneous Gateway (for ODBC connections). Here is an overview of the process
    On SQL Server create a database user and give it read access to the database/tables you want to read via the Oracle database link.
    In the gateway home each SQL Server database you want to access should have an init.ora located in $OH/dg4msql/admin in the form initsid.ora where sid is the name of the database to be used in the link (e.g. initbob.ora), so create one
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO=msserver1:1234//Example_Database
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL=OFF
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_ACCOUNT=RECOVER
    HS_FDS_RECOVERY_PWD=RECOVER
    HS_TRANSACTION_MODEL=READ_ONLY
    You must now add the new sid to the listener.ora in the gateway home using an additional SID_DESC section inside the existing SID_LIST, for example
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME=bob)
    (ORACLE_HOME=/oracle/gateway/product/11.2.0)
    (ENVS=LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/oracle/gateway/product/11.2.0/dg4msql/driver/lib;/oracle/gateway/product/11.2.0/lib)
    (PROGRAM=dg4msql)
    You should now stop and restart the gateway listener so that the new sid becomes active. NB a reload is not enough.
    You must now add the new sid in the tnsnames.ora file for the listener of each database in which you will create a link. You don't need to do this in the gateway home unless it is also a database home in which you will create a database link.
    bob =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = severname.example.com)(PORT = 1690))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = bob))
    (HS = OK)
    NB: The host and port are for the gateway not for the SQL Server database
    In each database that requires a link to the MS-SQL database you should create a database link to your new gateway sid.
    CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK bob
    CONNECT TO "ms_user" IDENTIFIED BY "ms-passwd" USING 'bob';
    where ms-user and ms-password are the SQL Server user you created right at the start.
    Now you can test the new database link
    SELECT COUNT(*) FROM "Table_Name"@bob;
    Once you have this working you can alter the initsid.ora file to add parameters to suit your connection. If you do it this way you can easily add and manage many different databases via the gateway.

  • How to access a PDF file from Oracle DATABASE SERVER

    Hi
    I have some pdf files in "\home2\docs" directory in Oracle database server 10g. (OS is Linux) I want to access those pdf files from my client system through Oracle Forms. How is it possible?
    Please Help!!!! It is very urgent !!!
    Expecting fast response!!!!!
    Bye

    hi
    Thank u for ur response.
    Initially i tried to access pdf file from database server. I didn't get any solution for that. So I copied all my pdf files to Application server which is in Linux environment at "/home2/docs" directory.
    I gave the following command for accessing the pdf files kept in Lnux Application Server from Oracle 10g forms in a button press trigger.
    web.show_document('http://192.168.1.53:7779/home2/docs/test.pdf');
    It says "page cannot be found"
    So I copied one of the pdf file named "test.pdf" to "/oracle/oas10g/IasHome/forms90/java" in Linux Application Server . Then the following command
    web.show_document('http://192.168.1.53:7779/forms90/java/test.pdf');
    has opened the the pdf file in browser.
    192.168.1.53 is my Linux Application Server IP. and 7779 is the port.
    Actually we have lacs of pdf files. So i cannot keep all the pdf files in "/oracle/oas10g/IasHome/forms90/java" directory in Linux Application Server. And also all the pdf files not in the same directory , "/home2/docs" some of the pdf files r in the subdirectories of "/home2/docs/" like /home2/docs/sub1, /home2/docs/sub2, /home2/docs/sub3 etc.
    Then how to configure my "/oracle/oas10g/IasHome/forms90/server/forms90.conf" file for retrieving pdf files from "/home2/docs/" and its subdirectories. Is Anything other than this, required for solving my problems.
    Now My PDF files r in LINUX APPLICATION SERVER not in database server.
    Please help!! It is VERY URGENT!!!
