Not able to add groups to the user ODSEE via OIM 11g R2

Hi,
I have created some groups in ODSEE and ran the recon job to sync these groups in OIM 11g R2.
Groups are populated in OIM 11g R2 and while raising the request for ODSEE Application Instance I can see these groups.
Now following are the issues I am facing :
1. ODSEE groups are not getting displayed in Catalog ( I have ran the Entittlement-List job also)
2. When I request for a group while creating the request, the group is not getting assigned to the user in ODSEE, wherein user is getting created in ODSEE successfully.

Please let me know what could be the reason of not adding the groups to the user in ODSEE.
I was able to add the groups successfully to user by assigning the groups while raising the request in OIM 11g R1.
But the same is not working in OIM 11g R2, if I check the OIM logs it is calling the function ADDUSERTOGROUP but the groups are not getting assigned to user.

It is very easy to create users,groups,roles in soa suite 11g manually .Just login to the weblogic console and you find a security realms tab click on that then next a page will open with my realms then click on it you will find a users and groups tab on top click on that then lock and edit the session and from there you can create users groups and also assign roles.You can also use external ldap if you want,Please let me know if this clarifies your doubt

How to set user/group in BIEE11G by the information stored in DB

I'm using OBIEE11.1.1.6,
I'd like to ask are there any way to achive this requirment:
I have stored user/group information in DB,the format as follow:
ID USER GROUP
1 A G1
2 B G2
so can we obtain the information from DB,then we set these information into BIEE security?
i.e we can access BIEE by the USER stored in DB. and the GROUP can be used in BIEE security.

Follow the steps:
Order of Authentication:
The Oracle BI Server populates session variables using the initialization blocks in the desired order that are specified by the dependency rules defined in the initialization blocks.
If the server finds the session variable USER, it performs authentication against an LDAP server or an external database table, depending on the configuration of the initialization block with which the USER variable is associated.
Authentication against the identity store configured in Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console occurs first, and if that fails, then initialization block authentication occurs.
If you configure your external table authentication as in OBIEE 10g when the session variable USER is associated to the initialization block and LDAP server fails to get the respective user then the user's will authenticate(Identify store) over database(table).
Dont forgot to create Catalog group as we do normally in 10g
In 11g Analytics - Administration- Security - Manage Catalog groups -- (+) to add new groups and set permissions to the catalog folders w.r.t groups/users.

Active Directory Groups - Domain Users Group

Using the AD resource adpater, I am able to assign groups and remove groups, but I noticed that the Domain Users group does not appear in the list of groups the user belongs to. Looking AD the user does belong, but in IDM it does not list this group membership. Is this normal ?

Thanks for the reply. I noticed there are quite a few issues with trying to UNC map to any share outside of the local MXE3500. I'm also seeing some issues with FTP watches on an EMC NAS, that has been FTP enabled. The problem I'm seeing now is that the watch will only work, if the watch is at the root level. If I add a file path, its accepted as valid when I save the directory watch, but looking at the fa.log its appending the last directory on twice.
So if my watch is looking at FTP Directory Path of: lifelink
The fa.log shows: .../lifelink/lifelink/
the word lifelink is displayed twice, causing an error, stating: "Error checking file size delay"

User Management with IDM

I am implementing an IDM solution from another vendor. The consultant is telling me that all user group management must now be accomplished with the IDM solution. And if group membership is changed with another method (ADUC or PowerShell), it will be overwritten
by IDM upon the next change within IDM. the app wants to lead now that it is in place.
I find real issue with this. I am loath to give up powershell and ADUC. Is this true? Do all IDM solutions require you to use them for all ongoing user management? Note: I am talking about group management mostly, not every possible aspect of user management.
Is this how FIM works?

The basic concept in FIM is the same. If a group is managed by FIM it should only be managed by FIM.
But please note that this can be implemented on a per group basis. Meaning that one group can be managed by FIM and another can still be managed by other ways. It is typical that some groups are managed by HR system (organisational groups), others are managed
manually in AD and yet other groups are managed by FIM to take advantage of the dynamic groups and self-service aspects in FIM.
The problem is called precedence in FIM, for each attribute on each object there is only one "winner". If FIM has higher precedence than AD for the member attribute for a specific group then FIM will overwrite any changes made in AD on the member attribute.

Migrate Rpd Catalog and User ,Groups from OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.1.5.0

I have got a setup of OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 on windows 32bit machine and now i am planning to have a setup of 11.1.1.5.0 on windows 64 bit machine.
please tell me the Detailed steps for Migrating the Rpd Catalog and User ,Groups from OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.1.5.0

1. Do i have to copy the RPD and Catalog Directly to 1.5 or some Upgrade Assistance is to be done
2. If i am Using the Export Provided in the myrelam ( in 1.3) and taking it to obiee 1.5 (as it already contains some inbuilt policies and groups) does it going to give me error

Migrating User Groups

I successfully migrated the GDS and Database from ES to ES2. However, I am unable to retain the user groups created in DefaultDom.
The migration was a fresh install of ES2 with the ES database and GDS. Is there a way to migrate the uer settings?

[OIM] Cannot use special character in User Group Name

Dear IdM expert,
I have problem creating user group in OIM if user group name contain special character like '&', '<' or '+'.
I read Note 430081.1 : Can a Field Label in an Object Form Contain Special Characters? and change <AppFirewall><SecurityLevel> in xlconfig.xml to 0, (by default SecurityLevel is set to 1). But still no luck.
Could anyone find way to do this? Thank you.

I don't think the app fire wall applies to recon events so that is probably how they got in.
You may have to update the database tables directly to solve this. Should not be a big issue as you aren't messing with any table primary keys.

Hello Suman,
Try avoid denial based security rights assignment instead you can specify the unspecifed. As Greg said
Denied + Granted = Denied
Denied + Not Specified = Denied
Granted + Not Specified = Granted.
You should not deny rights for HR End User usergroup, Instead make them as unspecified. If you do so the whenever the user part of both the groups , your security rights aggregation would be
Granted + Not Specified = Granted.
Make sure you follow the approach as above. You can refer the blog below for how to structure the folder, report and User group hierarchy and effective maintenance of security

OIM 9.1.0.2 - User group permission conflict issue

Hi Gurus,
IHAC who have faced a strange behavior about permission conflict.
User has been assigned to a user group (ANALISTA DRSI) who have permission to disable resource of the users he administrates. The user group has been assigned to resource's administrator.
The same use has been assigned to other user group (ANALISTA ADM DRSI) who have other permission. The user group has been not assigned to resource's administrator.
If the user has been only assigned to ANALISTA DRSI user group the user is able to see records on Rogue Account report. If the customer has been assigned to both ANALISTA DRSI and ANALISTA ADM the user is not able to see the record on Rogue Account report. He got a display error message (You do not have permission). Both user groups have the Report menu item assigned.
My question: if the customer is assigned to a user group who have permission to see the reports, should not the user is able to see the report even though he is also into the other group who do not have permission?
Is there conflit in the OIM???
Any tip will be very appreciated.

Orgnaization > Manage > Select Org in which users are getting created > Administrative Group (Drop Down) > Select Group for which users are not coming.
