User has deleted checked out files

A user has deleted the local roboholp project folder with checked out files. (Robohelp HTML Version 9.0)
The files are published as a webpage so the content is in HTML files - is there a  way to get the content back in Robohelp?
And how can I check-in her files (there is not option in Source Control (Version 3.1.), although I have administrative rights)
Thanks for any help.

Hi there
Not sure about RoboSource Control, but typically a source control application allows one to "Get latest version". The files should still be in the source control database, albeit with a status of "checked out". So you should be able to recover the project by simply getting the latest version. Not sure about how to go about forcing a check in from the user account that is no longer there.

  • Checked out files

We are using RoboHelp 8 with just RoboSource Control 3.1 as our only version control applicaiton.  They are being used on workstations with Windows XP pro.
We have a problem that I was unable to find in any of the previous posts.
We have two editors that edit the content of our online manuals.  They have local copies of the projects that have been added to Source Control from RoboHelp to Source Control initially.  both users have the same path for their local copies.  Each has their own user id to open Source Control.  There is a third user who publishes the content to our website as a quality control measure.
Our problem is keeping files from being published.  We often have multiple topics being edited for different lengths of time.  For example topics 1, 2 & 3 may all be in draft mode while topic 4 is edited and ready to be published.  We do not want the edits to 1, 2 & 3 to be updated to source control so that when our publisher gets the latest version only the edits to topic 4 are published.
It was our understanding that files that remained checked out would not update source control.  So, our first method was to create duplicate topics and made edits to those and keep those files checked out while checking in the remaining project files.  However, they were automatically added to source control and therefore downloaded when our publisher got the latest version.
After researching a bit, we tried having our editors do a local check out only of those topics to be edited and not create any duplicate copy and not check them in until they were ready to be published.  But the Source Control was still updated with any and all changes made to these topics.
The workaround we have tried now is to have the editors notify the publisher what topics are ready and then she "gets" just those files and compiles and publishes.  But that seems like an awkward solution to a process that is supposed to allow us to edit and only publish what we need published.
Does anyone have a better solution?  Is there a setting I have missed to keep these files from updating source control?
The second thing we noticed is that while Editor 1 has the files checked out locally - on her workstation, RSC has it checked out to her.  When anyone else opens RSC, the file status is that Admin user has them checked out even though Editor 1 used her individual login to check them out.
I am confused because this is not how I thought Source Control is supposed to work.

As a test, can you try logging into one of the libraries with these files as an admin and seeing if you can take ownership of it via the document library settings.  From here try checking it in again and advising what happens.

  • Question about deletion of checked out file using CMIS connector

When testing file deletion with Adobe Drive connected to an implementation of CMIS server, I ran into some mildly unexpected behavior for when the file is checked out.
I successfully checked out a file through Adobe Drive then deleted the file. Our server has a constraint that checked out files are protected against deletions, renaming, and moves. So, I was expecting the operation to fail. Instead, the result was that the file had its check out canceled.
In the AtomPub binding, a cancel check out is specified by deleting the pwc version of the the checked out file. So, this behavior did not strike me as too far off my expectations and I confirmed that the objectid in the deletion request sent by Adobe Drive was the id for pwc version of the file.
Is this behavior intentional? Or is this an artifact of the way Adobe Drive caches the objectid of files? Check out requests do return an objectid and that objectid is that of the new pwc version of the file. So, the later behavior would not surprise me.
    Thanks

    Hi,
         Yes, this behavior is intentional.
To bypass the possible constraint during deleting a checked-out file, Adobe Drive intentionally try to cancel check out this file by deleting the pwc version of the checked-out file.

  • Can I find out, with user has deleted all cost estimates with CKR1?

    Hi Community,
ich have a major problem: all our standard material don't have a cost estimate any more, because a unknown user has deleted all current cost estimates. Can I find out, with user has used the CKR1 transaction? And much more importend: how can I solve the problem? Do I need to re-calculate all the material?
Thanks for any idea and help
    PoD

    Hi,
you have to make the costing run, marking, releasing again but thats not the whole work.
If there are PP-orders that have been created based on the old/deleted plan cost estimates, the variance calculation will not work as the plan cost estimate is missing (even if the new one is released in the same period).
Thus variance calculation is not possible for those orders... You have to settle the whole balance to receiver object by removing the variance key in PP-order. Try first for one particualr order to see if there are some other problems that need to be solved during month-end-closing.
How to find out who has executed CKR1 (SAPCKR1): Check authorizations for (hopefully) a small number of user who are allowed to use CKR1.
Use T-Code ST03N, in the left upper window double-click "total" (maybe click a day if you can imagine which (possible) date it was). In lower left section open "user and settlement statistics" and then click "user profile". Now go to each possible user and look for T-Code CKR1.
This can be time-consuming but its worth a try...
For the future: restrict CKR1 to a very small number of user (and they should be well trained...). I once had a company (with poor authorization concept) but CKR1 was blocked in SM01 and a ZCKR1 was created and in this Z-transaction USER-name was checked (if SY-USNAM...) so only the use names named in this Z-program were allowed to use ZCKR1. Not the best way but sufficient for them...
    Good luck, Christian

  • How to handle check-out files of users that are no longer with the company?

We have cases that files were checked out and modified, but the engineers left before they check-in the files. What's the right way to handle such cases? Does the project admin have right to check-in for the engineers? How can we make another person to
    check the files in?

    Hi Peter,
    Thanks for your post.
Do you want check-in that files within the changes which that left engineer created to TFS Server? If yes, you need logon that engineer’s client using his account, then get modified files on this client and perform check-in.
If you don’t need that changes which modified by that left engineer, just the check-out files on this client caused other users cannot work on that files, you can ask the team project admin user to perform
tf undo command on that files to resolve this checked-out issue.
For example, the files be checked-out under workspace1, so execute this command “tf undo $/xx/xx(file path)
    /collection:collectionURL /workspace:workspace1 /recursive” to undo it

  • Apple Configurator - 1.2 (Delete User Account while Checked Out)

    Hi Community,
I have a supervised iPad that was checked out to a particular user. The user account in apple configurator was deleted while checked out. The iPad is now unavailable to check out because it is permanently checked out to the deleted user account.
I reset and deleted all information on the iPad but since it is supervised it comes right back to the point I checked it out (which I really like). But in this situation how to I get that user off...because I can't check it back in and currently can't use it for anyone else.
    Thanks!

I attempted to, but if a device is checked out to a user the unsupervise option isn't available. This is only because I believe the device was checked out and the user it was checked out to was deleted. Normally if there wasn't a user checked out to the device unsupervise would be available.

    WINDOWS?
Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
Navigate to the Music folder. On my 'pod, the full path is
Portable Media Devices\NAME of IPOD (F:)\iPod_Control\Music
Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
And you're done! The iPod music folder structure is strange and inexplicable, but once you move your files into iTunes you can set it to automatically organize your folder by artist and album to clean that up. (To do this, in iTunes Edit menu, choose Preferences and in the Advanced tab, check "Keep iTunes Music Folder organized."
might be out of date worth a try

  • Red ticks in checked out files

Are these red (instead of green) because another 'user' has
not checked them back in before I check them out?
I actually transfer my files between machines so the check
data must be in the files somehow.
Are there any dangers doing it this way?

They indicate that those files are checked out by another
    user and have not
been checked back in. As I said, if you are the only user,
    this will become
a big annoyance in a hurry.

  • Editing XMP metadata in Bridge for checked-out files?

Our custom connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability because we do not want to change the XMP of a file in our DAM system without checking in a new file version.
However, when a file is checked out through Adobe Drive, we would expect to be able to edit its XMP metadata in Bridge just like we can for local files.
It looks like this is still not possible with Adobe Drive 3, i.e. if your connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability you cannot edit XMP for checked out files either.
It seems weird that you can edit XMP metadata for checked out files with regular CS applications but not with Bridge. Is this something that is expected to be fixed in a future version?
    Thanks

In our design, editing XMP data in Bridge and in regular CS applications is different, the former one will be routed to SetXMPHandler in you connector, in the latter case, CS applications take the normal file writting ways to embed XMP data in the file content.
The purpose of this design is to offer similar user experience for normal users when they edit XMP data for AD assets and local file assets, they don't need to check-out files first.
To address your issue, I think you can add some codes in SetXMPHandler to auto check-out files before real XMP operation, and check-in them before exiting the handler
We will consider to make some enhancements for this part, that's, to allow editng XMP data for the checked-out files in Br, in the next release, thanks for this advice.

  • What's the function of "Manage checked out files" in library settings?

    hi there,
can anyone tell the function of "Manage checked out files " in library settings? it seems the place to manage all the checked out files in that library. but i can't see any one there. thanks in advance.
    allan

    Hi,
The checked out files page will only show files which have no checked in version. It is a way for a library administrator to clean up a document library. Imagine you created a new document that was only checked out to you and had no checked in version. It wouldn't show up in list views for anyone else. You have to go to that page to delete this document.
If you want to see all the checked out files in your library, you can create a new view and filter the view by “check out to” column (“check out to” column “is greater than or equal to” give a value like character A)
    Hope it can help you.

  • Open File dialog user can delete and rename files.

Does any one know if there is a way to prevent a user from deleting and renaming files by right clicking on them in an Open File dialog box?

Well, the problem is that this isn't a LV dialog box. It's the standard Windows file dialog box and this is the way they work in Windows.

  • CVAPI_DOC_CHECKOUTVIEW - how to check´out files to a SAP directory

    Hello,
I have an issue with understanding and providing the FM CVAPI_DOC_CHECKOUTVIEW to check out files from KPRO to a SAP directory.
I use CV120_KPRO_CHECKOUT to checkout files to local PC and this runs fine, but not for checking out files to SAP directories. So I found the API.... FM.
But I am confused about the data required to run the FM CVAPI_DOC_CHECKOUTVIEW . I tried several times but it does not work either for check out to clnt nor to SAP server.
Parameters for DOKAR, DOKNR, DOKVR and DOKTL are clear to me. PF-CONTENT_PROVIDE is CLNT for PC check out and SRV for Server checkout. But what about the rest?
I am not sure how to provide the tables and the fields PF_FTP_DEST / PF_HTTP_DEST / PF_HOSTNAME and the PS_API_CONTROL.
Can anybody help me with the required import data.

  • How to configure security so users can delete their own file(s)?

I have configured our file server so that all users can write/modify in any other user's folder. However, it seems that they cannot delete their own file(s) in another user's folder. Do I have to give all users the "Modify" but not Full permission
so that every user can delete their own file or folder even if it's in another user's folder? I still do not want user A to delete/modify any files/folders that user B originally created.
    Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi,
Based on my research, if a user can rename a file/folder, then he/she can save it using the original name, there is no way to prevent this via permission assignment.
You may need to use scripts to achieve this.
