User ID errors

From time to time, I've misspelled my user ID in those little windows where you sign in, so that when I want to sign in again, the list that shows up includes that incorrect ID. For instance, if the user ID is Smith and I accidentally type in Smyth, the "Smyth" shows up in the list along with the correct ID. How do I get rid of that? On the Windows 7/Firefox combo, all I have to do is highlight the wrong one and click on delete. This does not work with the Apple/Safari combo. I don't know what kinds of key words to use to search the help function. Thanks

Some applications come packaged bundled with the OpenBase product. It's perhaps why you have this application here on your system.
Perhaps you deleted that application and the launchd description file to start/stop OpenBase is still in
Perhaps you installed an application that bundles OpenBase but was designed to be installed on a Tiger machine. You've installed it on Leopard.
On Leopard, the user management database and associated utilities have totally changed. Therefore, an installer script designed for Tiger can not run on Leopard.
The errors you're getting are caused by the absence of a user and a usergroup both with ID #423. This 423 number falls in a range applications most likely want to use, as user Ids below 500 do not show up as "real user" (to make things short).
Try to investigate in what you've recently installed on your Mac that required some "large" install process. Try to see in their documentation if they don't mention OpenBase.
If you identify such application, try to get a Leopard specific installer. At least to get the user+group created right.
If I remember well an older Mac I had, I installed SOHO ... which came with OpenBase.

I'm currently working on a Modifiable Value Help Selector in Web Dynpro Java, and I want to use a user defined error message when I validate the values entered by a user. Currently, it's returning its default error message ("Character <string> does not match...").
Since the project requires a different error message, is there a way to override the default error message and use my defined error message instead?

I am not sure why message area is showing both Custom and inbuilt messages but you can try the following:
i guess you must be using reportContextAttribute exception for showing Error messages on the input fields as well.in that case you can disable the message area so messages will appear only on the Context level ie; on input fields.
For other messages apart from validation messages you can enable the message area before reporting the exception.
make sure the boolean context variable which will be used for enabling and disabling the message area should have Readonly property set as true.
I am not sure whether this is the only solution for this but you can try and see if it works.

Error while saving record "User:johndoe": Error -14071

I have added my augmented users from the AD server. When I select user and to apply a setting under Preferences I get this on attempting an "Apply", Error while saving record "User:johndoe":Error -14071. I'm authenticating to my LDAP not AD/All Domains.
I have the server bound correctly to the AD server. Bound to AD, then promoted to OD master.
Tried WGM from another Mac, same error.
I recall my AD admin extending the ad schema last year for OS X 10.4.

Thanks David and Mabel, and all for the suggestions. I did go through "Leveraging Active..." prior to posting. I did try your method of canceling the authorization to WGM and viewing Directories. I would select a user from this method and try to apply something from MCX, but still got the -14070 error. Yes, I do have my client bound 1st OD, 2nd AD, with OD first on the search policy for the client.
I though I had solved my issue by authenticating to WGM and LDAP. Then selecting Groups and the Members tab, I define an OD group and select that group. I can then click the "+" towards the right of the window. Then select my AD there which populates. I can add my AD groups or single users to my OD group. Then I'm able to apply MCX settings. But, no "blue" circle next to the group's silhouette. How is my method possibly incorrect?
Also, at some point I unbound my client from AD and it seems the client is ok with getting AD info off my OD server. Example, my AD sharepoint mounts for PHD.
But, I do have a pause of 20 secs. are more when logging into the client as well as accessing applications. Side effect of my method?

"Invalid User ID" error while running OSoft Application in browser

I have installed BPC 7.5 SP04 in Multi Server environment where SQL Server, OLAP Server, Reporting Server on one machine and Application Server and Web Server on other machine, After installing I tried to run Osoft application via url "http://Application Server name/OSoft" as suggested in Install guide but receiving "Invalid User ID" error
Error Information
Server Error in '/OSoft' Application.
Invalid UserID
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Exception: Invalid UserID
Please guide me on this as what can be the cause of this error and how to fix it.
I have used Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.

First login must be done with Installation user.
In your case you tried to login from your PC where you were conected with your user.
This user is used to connect to BPC and this user has no rights into BPC.
It was used this user because BPC allow Windows authentication.
So you have to go into IE - Tools - Internet Options
Select Security Tab - Select Intranet
Push Custom Level
Go to section - User Authentication - select "Prompt always user and pwd"
Close IE
Open again and try http://nameofserver/osoft you will receive now a prompt for user and pwd.
Input an user and pwd with access to BPC and you will see this time the page will be load correct.

We've got an issue with shopping carts created by a user that was deleted from system. When trying to see in Monitoring Shopping Carts header or item details of a given sc. A web error occurs:

Note
The following error text was processed in the system SRP : Attribute for user contains errors. Inform system admin.
The error occurred on the application server srm-pro_SRP_00 and in the work process 2 .
The termination type was: TH_RES_FREE
The ABAP call stack was:

We've cheked SAP NOTE 312058-BBPPU99: Error: Attribute for ... is missing. Inform ...
But it seems that none of the information applies to us, since this issue is only present for Shopping carts that were created by this deleted user.
So we tried to re-assing one of this sc, chaning PARTNER_NO,ADDR_NR
ADDR NP data in table CRMD_PARTNER according to a new given user, but it didn't work. So we need to know how to re-assing this sc or perhaps how to find what specific attribute is missing.
Any advice is welcome.

Which SRM version are you using ? This is an SRM error message.
The manager role should be enough to change user attribute. The transaction is BBPATTRMAINT. Employee role should have BBPUM02 or BBPAT05 to change their own attribute.
Please check whether the User ID you are using to Log into BBP_PD (and seems to be assigned in the org structure also)is consistent and has no errors in tcode USERS_GEN. You should check the user, it's not set up properly in USERS_GEN Transaction, Else repair the user.
To maintain the user attributes you must have the Administrator role.. Your user should have role SAP_BBP-STAL_ADMINISTRATOR and be integrated in the org structure. your user must be integrated in SRM organizational structure. To see which attributes are missing, you can click on the user in PPOMA_BBP to see details, and go to last tab "Check". This will list all required attributes depending on used scenarios (so you may not require all of them). You can also use transaction BBP_ATTR_CHECK to check user's attributes for a particular scenario.

CE 7.2 NWDS wdp ws client user authentication error

I am running a CE 7.2 sp 01 env with NWDS. In my landscape I have some webservices running on PI 7.1.
I am trying to develop a webdynpro webservice client. When run gets user authentication errors.
I have configured the Service Groups, provider systems, http destinations etc for this webservice.
After I have successfully build and deployed the wdp app I am getting error on the wdp gui screen like this:

Is there a LabView example in the use of user defined error codes?

Specifically, I have a VI that tests four arrays of data against various high/low limits. I have pass/fail outputs for 18 tests. I'd like to combine these into an 'error out' cluster with appropriate error codes and messages, for which I've created an x-errors.txt file.
My first question must be trival - how do I just set the 'status' bit of the error stream to let the general error handler then look up the error desription from the file?
Secondly - I can't find an example of this in the technical resourses, amI missing something?

There is no example program. There is extensive help on how to do this. Here's the basics.
1) There are two ways to define user error codes in LV6.1. If you are using LV6.0 or earlier, only one method is possible.
2) The 6.0 method involves wiring arrays of error codes and arrays of error code strings to the General Error Handler.vi. These codes will be used to explain any error code which is undefined in LV's internal error code database. Error codes reserved for users which are guaranteed not to be used by NI are from 5000 to 9999.
3) The 6.1 method allows you to create a specially formatted error code file on disk that will be merged with the LV error code database each time LabVIEW launches. For help on this, go to LV's online help, and in t
he Index tab, type
"user-defined error codes, in text files"
(without the quote marks)
4) If you want to set an error into the error cluster, use the General Error Handler.vi again. Wire your error code value to the Error Code terminal (the leftmost-topmost corner terminal). Wire the name of your VI to the Error Source terminal, and wire "No Dialog" to the Type of Dialog terminal (left-side, near the bottom). The error code cluster that comes out of this VI will either be the error in (if one was set) or a new error code cluster with your error and the status bit set to TRUE.
5) The attached demo is written in LV6.0.

Installing iTunes after registry user permission error

I'm just going to keep this simple. I ran CCleaner and cleaned the registry, then i ran Glary Utilities to clean up whatever CCleaner couldnt. THEN I downloaded iTunes from the apple website. I used winrar and extracted the install into a folder. I removed Bonjour64 from the folder and ran iTunes64. This bypassed Bonjour64 and installed iTunes flawlessly. When when I first opened iTunes it told me Bonjour64 needs to be running in my services...ingore it and continue. Bonjour64 is already running as it wont uninstall from windows when you have the innsufficient user permission error on the registry so its still installed. iTunes opened and I was able to use it as if the error never existed. Hope this helps! (ps after using other peoples tecniques i found that no-one elses worked without reinstalling windows...so I set out for my own solution.)

From your description, it is recommended to suspend the failed database copy at first using the cmdlet below.
Suspend-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "xxx"
And then reseed the database with a new copy using Update-MailboxDatabaseCopy -Identity "xxx" -DeleteExistingFiles cmdlet.

User authantication error when we try to connect to a backend system

Hi,
We have a stand alone webdynpro application where in we are calling some rfc function modules. We have imported the models using jco connection in a development system by providing the system/user info. When we deploy and run the application in the development system the application works fine. But when we deploy the application in different test systems it fails with user authantication error while triggering those rfc function modules. Can any one help us how we can identify the problem?
We basically dont know with what system/user information its trying to connect to back end.

THere can be Multiple reasons for this problem
1.if you are using JCO connections with UID/Password authomtication,make sure that Connection is working properly by testing it in Web dynpro console administrator.
2.if you are using SSO authontication mechanism in your JCO Connections,make sure that you have UID in the back end system(BAckend Quality system) and your portal system is connected to Backend quality sytems using SSO.

Can I change the location of my user-defined error file to the project directory?

The LabVIEW help says that the user-defined (XML-based) error file has to be located in the labview\user.lib\errors directory.
I would rather have the file in my Project Folders directory, as this is what is distributed.
Is there a way to make LabVIEW look elsewhere on startup.

Hey, from the LabVIEW help, it looks like you don't need to worry about it.
"If you use the Application Builder to create an installer, you can place a checkmark in the Install custom error code files? checkbox on the Advanced page of the Installer Properties dialog box to include LabVIEW error code files. The installer build includes all error code files from labview\project\errors and labview\user.lib\errors and installs them in the Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\8.2\errors directory."
If you select that checkbox, LabVIEW takes care of it for you.
