User Interface mode for windows 8

I was trying to install Driver San Francisco game and had quite a lot of problems.  This installer works with previous Windows. But failed with following error message while installing 'Install Anywhere'.
Installer UI Mode Error
The installer cannot run in this UI mode. To specify the interface mode, user the -i command-line option, followed by the UI mode identifier. The valid UI modes identifiers are GUI, Console, and Silent.
The supported platform doesn't include 'Windows Server 8'.
What could be the issue?

Wow that actually worked... I dont do that anymore because it never works but it worked.
THANKS

the problems is an installanywhere bug where if the anything

In Windows 8 I received the error iTunes Library .iti file is locked on a disk or you do not have permission for this file. I can open itunes in the compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3.
I've tried changing permissions and sharing - nothing seems to work. mat be a Windows 8 issue???

You also need to make sure you have both read and write permission for the file, or for the whole iTunes folder for that matter.  That's also done in Get Info for the file or folder concerned.

  • Firefox will not run after System restore or running in compatibility mode for windows 98. How do I fix this? I already tried all other solutions on this site.

I was running Firefox fine just yesterday. I screwed up the registry a litle while removing an installed program completely, so I restored the system and everything appeared to work fine. I then decided to play an old video game, Return to Krondor, which was made back in 1998, so I ran the program with no other programs running in compatibility for windows 98. After finishing the game, I closed it and put the computer in hibernation mode. I come back today and firefox will not run at all. It is not running in the background and there are no programs running. There are no services running which could interfere with it. I think somehow Firefox may think I'm in compatibility mode still, but I have no idea.
I'm running windows Vista 32 - bit with an AMD 2.4ghz processor, 4gb ram on an Emachine computer. I have already tried system restore, restart, processes etc. Nothing works. I can still run Internet explorer and all other programs.

The person that I was assisting, has Windows 7 which has 64 bit system. Her browser was IE 10.
Was IE11 ever offered (or installed) via Windows Update?
Is her computer currently fully-patched at Windows Update?

  • FAQ: User Interface Guidelines for CRM 2007 are now available

The CRM UI Concept Team has made the UI Guidelines for CRM Web Client User Interface (CRM 2007 UI) available to the BPX community:
This document provides an overview of the on-premise as well as the off-premise versions of the SAP CRM Web Client User Interface (UI). It contains the properties and principles of the SAP CRM Web Client UI that are already committed and available. For planned features, refer to the corresponding specification documents.
The information in the guidelines starts with general topics, followed by details. The sections are organized with high-level topics like Page Types and Navigation Schema first, followed by the consecutive sections describing which building blocks and elements of the UI populate the various pages. A section typically starts with one or more screenshots of a central UI element with a generic explanation. The subsequent sections explain the detailed aspects of each element.

  • Why does Digital Edition not work in desktop mode for WIndows 8?

I have installed the most recent version of JAVA and then downloaded and installed Digital Editions.  I can open Digital Editions in desktop mode but when I select a book I cannot turn the page or move to a new page by any means.  The only thing that seems to work is to select a new page and then toggle between full screen and partial.

I don't think ADE uses Java at all.
I run it in desktop mode in WIndows 8 and it reads books and turns pages fine: either using the left-right arrow keys,
or clicking on the forward/back buttons each side of the scrollbar at the bottom of the page.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0, and even though that isn't a bug for me it may be for you.
Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)
Version 1.7.2, it is a little difficult to find, available on Adobe site for Windows and for Mac.

  • Single Window Mode for Windows version?

    Hey there,
as some might know, there's a "hack" to get Single Window Mode for Safari on Mac. Normally. links with "target=_blank" will open in a new window instead of a new tab. In order to get Single Window Mode, the following code needs to be typed into Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.Safari TargetedClicksCreateTabs -bool true
Unfortunately, this won't work on Windows, so I would like to know if there's another way to have Single Window Mode.

No, there isn't. That feature is not implemented in the Windows version The only way to open targeted links in a new Tab is to Control-click or Right-click on the link and select Open in New Tab from the contextual menu.

  • Suitable user interface application for a billing system

I am seeking an appropriate friendly user interface application that is appropriate for a billing system to interact with an oracle 10gr2 database.
    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the question.
If you have a billing system, presumably the billing system has a user interface. It's not like you could just bolt a new user interface over the existing one without a tremendous amount of effort.
Are you looking to purchase a new billing system with a user-friendly interface? If so, it seems odd to post that here. Presumably, you'd want to create an RFP that vendors of billing systems could respond to.
Are you looking to build a new billing system? If so, there are dozens of languages, frameworks, and APIs that could be used. Without more information, no one could possibly provide any useful recommendations.

  • Default Novell Login mode for Windows 2008 R2 servers?

    We're using Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows 7 (IR6).
All our Windows 7 workstations behave so that the Novell Logon is always the default (ie: you do CTRL-ALT-DEL and always get the Novell Logon first), then of course you get logged into ZCM and then our MS AD environment.
However, using the SAME client with the SAME settings (unattend.txt or whatever) on a Windows 2008 R2 server with Citrix OR TS enabled, yields different results.
Sometimes you get just the Windows logon (and then of course, you're not logged into eDirectory), sometimes you get the Novell one first.
Any ideas on what setting to check?
On 4.951 SP5 there was Gina chaining, but Windows7/2008 use credential provider order (I think), but I have no idea why it would behave differently.
    Thanks!

I'm not clear exactly on what you're seeing, but it sounds like you're
describing going to the interactive console login process and picking
    "a completely non-Novell Client-related credential".
Meaning once you have selected the credential and can see the username
and the password field you need to enter the password in to, there is
NEITHER a "Novell Logon" nor "Computer Only Logon" link offered on
that credential, because that credential isn't one generated by Novell
    Client / NCCredProvider at all.
I agree, if that's what you mean, that it sound like the kind of
process we were suspecting could be occurring, where Windows now
defaults to "the last credential provider you used" and that's NOT
Novell Client because some other credential was selected and used
    during the previous login.
Normally, simply having "Novell Login = ON" does cause "Novell Client
to be the only credential provider available", but that statement
really only holds true on a "standard Windows machine" where only the
Microsoft-supplied in-box credential providers are present.
The way Novell Client achieves this is to actually "filter out" a
couple of the Microsoft in-box credential providers, so that instead
of seeing "both the Microsoft-generated credential tiles and the
Novell Client NCCredProvider-generated credential tiles as ones you
can choose from", by filtering out the Microsoft credential providers
you end up seeing only NCCredProvider-generated credentials.
Meaning, instead of getting a Windows-only credential tile generated
by Microsoft's in-box "PasswordProvider" credential provider
    (AUTHUI.DLL) /AND/ the Novell Client NCCredProvider-generated
credential tiles, you instead only get the NCCredProvider-generated
tiles, and if you want to login Windows-only you have to select
"Computer Only Logon" from the NCCredProvider-generated credential.
But the behavior you're seeing, and a behavior not uncommon with
third-party credential providers, is that some other product wanted to
extend the functionality of Microsoft's in-box "PasswordProvider"
credential provider. So this third-party /also/ filters Microsoft's
"PasswordProvider" credential provider out (just like NCCredProvider
does), but then internally the third-party "wraps" the Microsoft
"PasswordProvider" credential provider in order to present "99% normal
PasswordProvider behavior, but with 1% of new third-party-specific
    behavior."
Which means, from a Windows perspective, these credentials are now
being created by the third-party "wrapper", not the Microsoft
"PasswordProvider" credential provider directly. So even though
Novell Client filtered "PasswordProvider" out, there is this new
unique third-party wrapper's credential tiles still being shown, which
just happen to "look at feel just like PasswordProvider but with 1% of
    additional third-party-specific functionality."
From your perspective, it simply looks like "Novell Client never
disabled Microsoft's PasswordProvider", which in actuality we have
filtered it out, but some other third-party is "making their own
instances of Microsoft's PasswordProvider credentials." Since the
credentials are no longer being created by a credential provider which
has Microsoft's well-known GUID for the "PasswordProvider" credential
provider, filtering out that GUID no longer stops the credentials from
    "appearing anyway".
One option is to add the GUID of the third-party wrapper (whomever
that is) to the Novell Client's "FilterList" value under
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Novell\Authentication\ NCCredProvider].
This is where the Microsoft "PasswordProvider" GUID is already listed,
and you would just add the additional GUID(s) to this REG_MULTI_SZ
    list value.
Maybe the third-party has some additional functionality or utility
knowledge that they learn by wrapping Microsoft's credential provider,
but in your case you are wanting to select the NCCredProvider-based
credential anyway, so you're not going to be selecting the
third-party's "wrapped" Microsoft PasswordProvider credential. And
the fact that the third-party's "extra" credential tiles are being
offered and can be "accidentally" selected is breaking your desired
default behavior of "always send the end-users to NCCredProvider."
If it's not clear what credential provider / wrapper on the system may
    be doing this, export
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Authentication\Credential
Providers] to a .REG file and then just cut-n-paste the .REG file text
    contents into a post here.

    Thanks Alan,
In this case it seems simply putting the Novell Client on a Windows server with Terminal Services enabled is enough to cause the issue.
On an actual server login (ie: Vmware console) you press CTRL-ALT-DEL
You see the Novell Login section (this is server 2012 R2, BTW) with the userid/password
2 lines below it it says:
    Computer Only Logon
If you choose Computer Only Logon
Then it "stays" at Computer Only Logon for all subsequent logons/reboots.
I'm going to guess it's probably a Windows setting (we only have a few GPO settings pushed out to servers via AD).
Anyway, here's the reg key contents:

  • Mac user locks files for Windows users on NFS shares

    Hi Everyone,
We run a mostly Windows environment here at my school and have two AD servers which also do our file shares for AD users. Every user has a network drive mapped to L on Windows, and this is mounted on the dock of our Mac users (all Macs are bound to the AD for auth and the OD for management). We also have shared folders for different groups of people, such as admissions or art (where the issue is). Most of these divisions are only Windows, so file sharing isn't and issue - but this is not the case in our Art department.
We have a shared folder (T on Windows) setup for users of the Art department with mostly Office docs in it. Windows users can write to the share just fine, just as the Mac users can. The issue comes up once a Mac user edits and saves the file (all to the share) - Windows users are now locked out of the file because the permissions are reset. What can we do to fix this issue? It's obnoxious having to go and reset the permissions after every edit from a Mac user.
    Thanks,
    -MRCUR

We also have that same problem. We don't actually solved the issue but we what we do did is just unlock the files once and even they are edited or opened in windows or mac, it does not lock the file. We use windows pc and connect to the drives and just simply right clicking the file then properties a button will show in the properties window saying "unlock". After we did that, those files was never locked out again.
