User launch agent failed using Etre Check
Ran Etre Check and this User Launch Agent program failed. Sorry if this is a noob question, but is there any way I can locate it and remove it?

Don't know really what i have done wrong, but after my iMac (20-inch, Mid 2007) with OS X 10.10.2 and 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM got rather slow, i used EtreCheck and removed a number of red-coloured UserLaunchAgents and things seem to get better.
With the following exceptions:

I think it might be wise to save your money and plan on a replacement Mac. Even a low end Mac mini would out perform the iMac and Macbook. But it is not my job to spend your money.
If you can install Lion, it might be the better performance solution. Should not cost you anything except time, and extend the usefulness of your Macs for awhile.
If you really want to keep this hardware in service AND have newer software, then max'ing out the RAM and replacing the hard disk with an SSD is how you can get reasonable performance. But RAM and an SSD are going to add up to money that could be better put into a new Mac. And besides, "Real-Soon-Now" Apple is going to stop supporting those Mac models and then newer OS releases will not install on them.
Again, I do not want to spend your money.
(for your info: i'm still a noob, but the first computer i had to use for my work in 1968 was an IBM 360)
Gee that is even before my first computer (a PDP-8 in '71; well there was the Burroughs Computer in the University basement where I submitted my card desks, and a printout came back; the PDP-8 belonged to the University too, but at least I got to touch it; That lead to a job a UNIVAC where I got to touch the UNIVAC equivalent of the IBM 360). -
Agent deployment from EM 12.1.0.2 to Linux agent failing pre-req checks
Trying to deploy the agent software from EM to a Linux host running Oracle Enterprise Linux version 5.8 I am failing one of the pre-requisite checks indicating that the root / is not owned by the root. From the install log

I cannot access system preferences, disk utility, preferences, or app store and have been trying to boot from hardrive but it wont for some reasonNew to site. Please be gentle. Problem description:
Slow with safari and other programs, everytime I turn off computer completely and then I go to turn on it has a status bar loading. Then some recovered files are always in the trash upon boot-up. Also randomly a window saying “to view this web content, you need to install the Java Runtime Environment.” pops-up constantly.

Running very slow since upgrade, please look at ETRE Check
So basically the issue is my computer has really been slow since my upgrade to 10.10. I had read some of the forums and because my Etre Check was showing a lot of problem system launch agents, I decided to reinstall the OS via the Wifi recovery mode. The first Etre check I ran post reinstall showed that all of these were resolved, but since then the Etre check has began to accumulate more and more failures. Any idea what might be causing this. I would really appreciated any feedback greatly. Thanks in advance.

New iMac extremely slow following migration (Help with Etre Check diagnosis)
Hi gurus,
New iMac - scheduled for genius bar on Friday but trying to avoid the trip. Migrated everything over from 2009 macbook pro to 2011 macbook and now 2013 iMac. I imagine there is a lot of cruft from the repeated migrations and am close to just wiping and migrating from scratch. I don't know, however, how to get my old mail and other critical settings over.
Problem is clearly in the user account. I created a separate admin account and that runs relatively fine. Is the below user account salvageable? Should I delete all my old permissions? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks for the Etrecheck program,

Thanks for any helpAs has already been pointed out, you've got a lot of junk installed. The biggest problem is likely to be the Intego software, which is far too heavy-handed and is known to devour system resources and cause instability. You definitely need to remove it. Clinging to it simply because you pay for it is simply not logical if it is causing you problems. For less intrusive means of protecting yourself against malware, see my Mac Malware Guide.
You also need to clean out your login items list, which is extensive, and should uninstall any apps you're not using. (I see you have Turbo Tax 2011, for example... since it is now the 2013 tax season, you can probably uninstall the 2011 version at this point.) When uninstalling an app, be sure to use the uninstaller provided by the developer of that app. Do not simply drag it to the trash (unless it was purchased from the App Store), and do not use any general-purpose uninstallers like AppZapper or AppCleaner.

Note the problems that ShareKitHelper is causing. This is a part of the system, but I don't really know what it's for or why it is misbehaving. Something is causing it to hammer your processor and devour RAM, though. This may be an indication of deeper problems with your system, or may clear up after you pare down your overloaded system a bit. -

You inadvertently installed adware. Eradicating it is simple and you don't have to download or install anything to fix it. For an explanation or how this may have occurred, how to avoid it in the future, and for Apple's recommended solution read How to install adware.
You are running a torrent client. Doing so will leave you vulnerable to malware, data theft, or both.
OS X's Gatekeeper has been disabled. This basic Mac security feature is an essential defense against malware intrusion. To re-enable it read OS X: About Gatekeeper - Apple Support
That Mac has been affected by MacPaw "CleanMyMac". Read below.
It is not reasonable to expect a Mac to operate normally after using CleanMyMac. Like many ill-conceived "cleaning" utilities, it is capable of corrupting a Mac to the point that erasing it completely is the only practicable means of recovery. CleanMyMac is not the only example; it is merely popular due to marketing strategies that are as effective as they are intrusive.
There is no practicable way to reverse the effects of having used CleanMyMac2 other than to reinstall all affected files from backups or their original sources. Its developer's uninstallation instructions are ineffective despite their recent claims to the contrary. Only MacPaw, its developer, can know the reason for that, but I can think of two possibilities: either they are purposefully leaving components behind for reasons known only to them, or they simply don't know what they're doing. Neither one of those possibilities is particularly comforting for the user.
Reinstalling OS X alone will have no effect on either removing CleanMyMac or reversing the damage it is capable of inflicting upon a system. Follow the applicable recovery procedure below:
If you have a backup that you created prior to using CleanMyMac, now is the time to use it. For Time Machine, boot OS X Recovery, and at the Mac OS X Utilities screen, choose Restore from Time Machine Backup. Choose a date preceding the installation of CleanMyMac.
If you do not have a backup that predates the use of CleanMyMac, create one now. To do that read Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac.
The recovery procedure will require that you erase the Mac using OS X Recovery, and then create a new user whose contents will be empty. You will then be able to use Setup Assistant to migrate your essential documents including photos, music, work products and other essential files.
When doing so, select only your previous User account and do not select "Applications", "Computer and Network Settings" or "Other files and folders". De-select those choices.
Subsequent to using Setup Assistant, you will need to reinstall the essential software you may require, once again remembering to install software only from their original sources, and omitting all non-essential software.

To migrate your essential documents read: OS X Yosemite: Transfer your info from a computer or storage device and follow the procedure under Transfer info from a Time Machine backup or other storage device. The procedure is identical for Mountain Lion. -

Problem description:
My iMac (early 2008) with OS 10.10.2 runs slow. I have run EtreCheck several times, and I am unable to move beyond Problem System Launch Agents (11 processes killed due to memory pressure) and Launch Daemons (12 processes killed).

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

My aging iMac is on it's last legs running Mavericks can anyone advise before it goes through the window!
I know It needs replacing and I can see Crashplan is taking up an enormous amount of ram but I'm wondering if anything else is causing problems.

You need to configure CrashPlan to only backup your data on your computer while you are away from your iMax for prolonged periods of time. Setting CrashPlan to do incremental backups while you are working at your Mac can really slow things down and tax your Mac's resources.
You need to modify Crashplan's behaviour in order to minimize the impact of this app on your system's performance.
Completely uninstall ALL Google software per the instructions on Google's website. Currently, all Google apps are not playing well and are NOT 100% compatible/compliant with OS X Mavericks. Until Google releases a fix or update for OS X Mavericks, completely uninstall all Google apps. If you do not like Apple's Safari Web browser, as an alternative, try using Mozilla FireFox. Mozilla constantly updates FireFox and just released a new update recently.
Telesteam Flip4Mac has been reported to have issues on OS X 10.9 Mavericks. If the Telestream site does not have a Mavericks update for their plugin, completely uninstall this per the instructions on Telestream's website. Use the recent update of VLC Player, instead.
You have a lot of start/login items. Having all of these apps launching at startup/login and running in the background can really create a performance hit on your Mac. You really need to decide what apps you really, absolutely need to have launch at startup.
Add or remove automatic items
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
Select your user account, then click Login Items.
Do one of the following:
Click Add below the list on the right, select an app, document, folder, or disk, then click Add.If you don’t want an item’s windows to be visible after login, select Hide. (Hide does not apply to servers, which always appear in the Finder after login.)
Select the name of the item you want to prevent from opening automatically, then click Delete below the list on the right.
Also, your iMac year and model can take a total of 6 GB of RAM.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).

You need to update all of your third party software if there are OS X Mavericks updates that can be applied.
You may need to go the third party developers' websites if there are no updates through the Mac App Store.
Update all of your Web browser Internet plugins, extensions and add-ons, also.
Also, if you have any third party devices, like keyboards, mice, drawing tablets, hubs, card readers, etc, you need to update the drivers for these devices to OS X Mavericks compatible versions.

Please help me! I am a Photographer that made the jump to Mac instead of Windows, and I am trying for this not to become a big regret. My Mac is too slow, it's brand new but lags like there is no tomorrow, the simplest things like opening a calculator takes what seems to be decades to open. Constantly having to go to Activity Monitor and see if I can dump some application. What do I need to do? Should I buy more RAM? If yes, what is the maximum I can get? Thank you!

I am not certain how many applications you are running simultaneously, but it appears as if you simply do not have enough RAM for what you are doing.
And since you purchased a new 21 inch screen model with only 8 GBs of RAM, there is no way to upgrade the RAM in these models.
If you only had this iMac for less than 14 days, I would've recommended returning it for a 21 inch screen IMac with the full 16 GBs of RAM pre-installled.
As this stands, you are stuck with the 8 GBs of RAM in this IMac that you currently have.
I would recommend either reduce the amount of applications you leave running while working in other applications like your Adobe apps.
If this will not work for you, you should consider selling this iMac (Apple does not take trade-ins) and either get the model with 16 GBs of RAM installled and/or pick the 21 inch screen model with the high end specs and order it with the optional i7 CPU that is available .
