User license questions - old user is leaving

Hi
Because all user application licenses (CRM sales, CRM service, and Professional) are assigned to named users how do we deal with the situation when a member of staff leaves the company and we wish to re-assign that license which is now no longer used to a new user? Can I do this from within SAP or do I need to email SAP regarding the name change?
I have done a search on this site and the internet but cannot find any information regarding this.

Symptom
When trying to allocate licenses to users, the number of licenses available is less than the (number of total - number of licenses already assigned).
(Menu Path: Administration -> License -> License Administration)

Reason and Prerequisites

Solution
A user with a license allocated to her/him has been deleted from the system without deallocating the license first, or a company with users assigned has been deleted without deallocating the licenses first.
Each time a license is allocated/deallocated an entry is generated in an xml file "B1Upf.xml"
(Path: C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\License\ B1Upf.xml).
If a user/database is deleted without previous deallocation of a license that entry is not removed from the file thus taking up a license space.
To resolve the issue follow these steps:
1. Close all SAP Business One clients.
2. Make a copy of the file (C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\License\B1Upf.xml) and save it with a different name or in a different folder.
3. Delete the original file.
4. Stop/Start the license server.
5. Connect to SAP Business One and assign the licenses (Administration -> License -> License Administration). You will need to reassign licenses for all your users.
Note: To access the Notes Portal you should have a Valid SUserId

I know the $499 price tag for Snow Leopard Server includes a 10-user license. However, does this include a license to install and use Snow Leopard on each of those 10 machines? Or is it just a license for the OS on those machines to connect to Snow Leopard Server?

I paid that to take my Leopard-based MBP to Snow Leopard, but I always assumed it was an upgrade price...is that the price for a full license?!
At home, my wife is using an iMac G5 with a PowerPC chip running Tiger (10.3.x), which means it can't run Snow Leopard. It can run Leopard, but Apple is telling me I have to pay $129 to buy Leopard for her machine.
Are you telling me that it's cheaper to buy a full license for Snow Leopard on an Intel machine than it is to buy the now older/previous version (Leopard) for a Mac?!
I know her machine is officially obsolete now that the OS no longer supports non-Intel chips. But to cost almost 4.5 times the current list price to buy the immediately prior version that does run on the PPC?

Oracle database Named User License Question

Oracle database Standard Edition ONE licensing has this requirement:
Maximum of 2 socket server
Minimum of 5 user licenses.
How are these 5 named user licenses calculated ?
1) Does it depend on how many computers are connecting to the database ?
2) Can we have application installed on 7 computers, but concurrently only 5 client computers will be connected to the database ?
3) Are these named user plus licenses floating ?

Single User License Questions

Hello,
Firstly, since there is no general forum for iWork as a whole (rather than its individual packages), I have posted it here.
Anyway, back on track.
I am a British MSc student wanting to purchase iWork Single-User at the discounted education price - as MS office for Mac has no UK education discount and seems to crash an awful lot, and Open/Neo Office is, in my opinion, the worlds most counter productive and clumsy software package out there (I hate it!), I have opted for iWork. After trying the demo I really like it! Very slick.
However, I have noticed that there are two packs available for iWork. Single-User and Family Pack, and have become a little confused about how the licensing for iWork pans out.
I want to install iWork on both my 27" iMac "Ratchet" and on my 13" Alu' Notebook "Clank" (yes those are the actual computer names in System Preferences), so I can work on a document with Clank when out and about, upload it to my iDisk, then work on it again with Ratchet when I get home. I am the only user of these two machines, not even a guest account. Will the Single-User license of iWork install and run without running into problems? Or does single user mean one Mac and one Mac only? If its the latter then it looks like I'll have to make do with OpenOffice until I can afford MS Office 2008/11 and just hope it doesn't crash when I click "save" (which did happen very frequently with MSO2008)

Concurrent user license question

I currently have the 10-client license for OS X Server 10.4.7
I have 3 users in the office and another 9 sales reps not in this office who only need occasional FTP access.
Does a user connected via FTP count as 1 of the client licenses? In other words, if the 3 of us in the office are connected via AFP to a share, does that mean we can have at most 7 FTP users at one time? There's a screen on the FTP service that says 'Allow a maximum of [50] concurrent users' by default... but I don't want to assume.

The 10-client limitation is for concurrent file-sharing users. It doesn't apply to web, ftp or other services. The screen you reference is for your own use in allocating server and bandwidth resources.

Business One user license and connected users

Where in Business One, either application or SQL database, can I see all the license assignments for all the companies? If a user exists in one company but not another I have to search through both (or multiple) companies to see who has what type of license. License assignment spans companies, right? So is there a table in SBO-Common where this info is stored?
Also, where can I see current users logged in to what companies? Is a value set in the company database in ousr or someplace else.

There is no specific table to see the license assignment either in common database or not. you could consider to use this path :
C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One ServerTools\License\B1Upf.xml
to see the current user logged in to a certain company.

Created new user acct. deleted old user acct. can't access old TM backups

After changing the name on my home folder and deleting and creating a user account I can't access the old backups when I enter time machine.
After creating the new user acct TM did a full complete backup that I can access
Is this normal behavior or a problem?
All of the above was done working with AppleCare

App Store remembering old user info.

I inherited a MB at work from another user that had downloaded apps through the App Store. The App Store keeps reporting that there's an update available for Twitter. If I try to update it, it asks for the old user's account info. Mind you that this is logged in as a different user, and the old user's profile has been deleted. The Twitter app doesn't even exist on the computer (I don't know if it was in the other user's profile Applications, or if he deleted it.)
I tried putting in my Apple App Store account information, which allows me to see my purchased apps, but it still prompts for the other user's info when trying to update Twitter. I even tried re-downloading Twitter through my account, but it still prompts for the old user's info when I try to install it.
How can I get App Store to forget about the old user and stop notifiying that Twitter has an update?

Apparently the previous user downloaded an "unofficial" version of FaceTime. I downloaded AppZapper to get rid of it and all is good now.

User Licensing in UC560

Looking at the licensing options for the UC560 and it shows that the UC comes with "24 user licenses, 6 supplemental user licenses". What are the limitations of the 6 supplemental licenses? Can I put 30 users and phones on the system with full extensions and voicemail?

Awesome... Just so that I am clear, the following statement from the licensing guide would allow for 40 phones and users.
UC560 (FXO, BRI, or T1E1 model) and 1 x L-UC-PRO-8U=
32 user licenses, 8 supplemental user licenses
That is how it read it but just want to be clear before the quote goes out the door. Thank you!

Lion first access no old users

After the download from AppStore the installation started.
At the first access after installation at the login page no users were found.
I re downloaded and installed Lion again. This time the installation ended with the creation of a new user.
The old users are not in the list of the accounts...
I have the latest time machine updated at two month ago.
I did an image of the actual status of the Macintosh HD to try to have the chance to save the important files not backed up on time machine.
What can I do now to reclaim the files on the macintosh HD (if they are still there....?)
I' m thinking to reinstall snow Leopard from the DVD and to restore all settings as from May ( latest time machine backup) but after...
Will I be in position to find the relevant files from the DMG created after this mess?

PROBLEM SOLVED !
Solution was easier than expected ( I'm thankful to a friend of mine who assisted me as I was going crazy thinking to have lost everithing !!!)
1- log in as the new user created on Lion
2- create a "new" user in Lion with the same name and pw of the old previous user.
At this stage Lion recongnize that this user already exist ( even if it does not in the list of the accounts...)
and will ask you if you want to mantain the same setting found...
That's it.

If you apply 1 indirect access user license then only 1 user can access each SSP solution concurrently.
In 2007B for every 1 Professional/Limited CRM/Limited Financial/Limited Logistics/Indirect Users, 5 x Add-on Access is issued. Please refer to SAP Note: [1223477|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1odSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=1223477].
Thatu2019s mean that 1 user can use 5 SSP solutions concurrently. Those 5 add-on access users can not be assigned to other users.
In 8.8 Users who have an indirect access license can access an unlimited number of SSP solutions concurrently.
Please note that the total number of users using SAP Business One (direct or indirect) should not exceed the number of purchased user licenses.

Can I install CS 5.5 in a multi-user virtual machine? (licensing question)

We have a single-user license for Creative Suite 5.5, but the role we use it for may be filled by different employees at different locations depending on circumstances. To make sure the application is available to whomever needs it, we'd like to put it on a VM, which would only be accessible to the single user who needs it at a given time. Is this permissible under the license?

Try if deleting the file/folder '\AUTORUN.inf' present at the following location, allows you to run the installer successfully -
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CS5.1 Extensions\Adobe Output Module\mediagallery\resources\flashgallery\AUTORUN.inf"

We have Exchange 2010. We have 400 Exchange user licenses, my question is say 5 people leave the company and then we hire 5 new employees. What triggers the exchange user license to become available for the new employees? Is it when the former

Depends on how your licensing is configured. It could be per user / per device etc..
You would need to contact your licensing rep to get the best info for your org.

New laptop doesn't see iPhone after user import from old laptop

Transferred my user account from my MacBook to new MacBook Pro, and now the MBP doesn't see my iPhone. Anyone else have this issue and know the solution? I don't mind wiping and restoring the iPhone. (Though I'd prefer not to.)
BTW - deleted my account and all files from the MacBook prior to verifying my iPhone works on the new MacBook Pro. So I can't "go back" to my old machine.

Once again, I answer my own question... Leaving the iPhone plugged in during a restart worked.
