  • Users Logged in with Temp Profile on Windows 7

Last year, my company started to experience a strange correlation with the number of Windows 7 computers deployed and the number Help Desk calls regarding Temp Profile Logins. I did open a ticket with Microsoft Support, but had to prematurely put it on hold
    due to other projects.
From my work with Microsoft, we performed ETL logging, documented Handle Output, ran Procmon, and collected MSDT data. While not always successfully documented, Microsoft started to point out the possibility a process in the background was timing out. When
timed out, users became logged in as a TEMP user, thus limiting access to network drives and other domain resources.
The company I work for is part of a larger enterprise and other divisions do not experience this issue. This is solely my companies issue and only came to the forefront after we performed a large migration to Windows 7.
Other forums have provided me and my team with the means of fixing the TEMP profile login, after it occurs. We go into REGEDIT and modify the ProfileList and edit the necessary .BAK key. Either way, this corrects the issue, but does not prevent it from occurring
    again.
I guess my questions is; where can I look to trouble shoot this better? I can't rely on Microsoft analyzing my records and trying to deduce what is occurring. I want to get more information and find a resolution. Thank you all in advance.

No, we do not use roaming profiles in our environment. Local user profiles are used for every computer, regardless of purpose/role in the organization. Good question, though. Thank you.
    Hi,
I would like you to confirm following question with me:
    1. are your computers in a domain?
    2. What do you mean about the local user profile, the personal user? If it's a domain environment, does this issue happen on domain user account?
    3. How did you migrate your user profiles during migrating to Windows 7?
Considering if the local user profile is corrupted, and the regedit fix cannot fix your issue completely.
Please create a new user account on the problematic computer and test for a while to see if the issue still persists.
If not, we may need to repair the corrupted user profiles.
If the issue still persists, considering the system issue.
Please help to collect the logon trace and post back for our research.
    1. Logon as an Administrator of the computer you want to trace (either a local Administrator or Domain Admin account that is a member of the local machine's Administrators group).
    2. Open an elevated command prompt and run this command from WPT Install directory (default path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Performance Toolkit.
    Install WPT from this link:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb980924.aspx

Note: This syntax works on Windows Vista (Windows Server 2008) and Windows 7 (Windows Server 2008 R2) computers
    3. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and then Switch User.
    4. Logon with the user account experiencing the temp user logon to reproduce the issue.
    5. Stop the trace. While logged on with the slow user account, open an elevated CMD prompt and type:
xperf -stop -stop UserTrace -d merged.etl
    6. upload the merged.etl file into Onedrive or similar file sharing service, and post back the shared link here.

    Hi,
There may be two similar GUIDS found for the problematic user, one for the temp profile and one for the regular profile but with the ".bak" extension.
I suggest you removed .bak from sid to check the result.

    Hi,
The suggestion provided by Maffiow is worthy to try. Msconfig can tell you some on things loaded on startup. Do any of the items listed refer to that file?
In addition, it states that your windows 7 is missing some system files. And definitely it would be some important to file to your windows. You better check it with performing a Clean Boot.

The path which you have shown here is a path for temporary file. I think there will be something wrong with your system temp folder. For this Clear the redundant files in temporary folder. You can do this by performing the following steps.
    a. Restart the computer to Safe Mode.
    b. Click Start and click Control Panel.
    c. Click Classic View and choose Folder Options.
    d. Click View tab, choose Show hidden files and folders box, click Apply and click OK.
    e. Click Start -> Computer.
    f. Go to C:\Users\your user name\AppData\Local\Temp folder.
    g. Select all files in the Temp folder and delete them. Click Yes when prompted.
    h. Restart the computer to Normal Mode for a test.
    Hope it helps.

  • Application publishing issues after temp profile usage

We haven't figured out the solusion to this issue but we do know the cause and a workaround for it that works, kind of...
A brief description would be that after permission issues for some users roaming profile storage on the fileserver application publishing and several applications fail in a different way for different users. This is due to the creation of C:\Users\TEMP,
TEMP.DOMAIN etc folders rather than using C:\Users\Username folders. The issue seems to be that App-V 5 client remembers this temporary folder in a way that we havent figured out yet, all references to the temp folders for each users account UID in the
registry has been removed and the roaming profie was deleted locally and on the fileserver YET app-v remembers the path C:\Users\TEMP and tried to create shortcuts etc there without success --> the packag then failes completely and dissapears from the client/powershell
Get-AppvClientPackage view as if its not even published to the user.
The BIG question is how the "#¤/&¤ can you get the App-V client to forget about the C:\Users\TEMP foders and retun to the users correct folder? We have tried to remove all user accounts UID from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Packages
etc and also the users profiles so this data must be stored somewhere else. The issue is local to specific XenApp servers, if the temporary profile wasnt created on a server the issue will never appear there.
The workaround is that all users with the issue have full access to the paths C:\Users\TEMP and C:\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN folders, however when app-v generates shortcuts in that folders we'll need to manually move them to the correct path so that they are
    available to the users, smooth!
The environment is based on 4x Windows 2008 R2 server with citrix XenApp 6.5. App-V 5 SP1 RDS client is installed and configured to use a single publishing server "Add-AppvPublishingServer -Name SERVERNAME -URL
    http://FQDN:8080"
    The details:
(we think) Some users had the follow error since they couldn't access the faulty profile path TEMP or TEMP.DOMAIN:
Failed to create file by callback data: \Device\HarddiskVolume2\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS\FE7FE758-FDD8-4208-AF3D-E2505AEF6791\AppData\Adobe\Acrobat\
Another user got only one package (the only package without a shortcut):
This user receives 1 out of 8 packages.
We have tried removing the local and centrally stored roaming profile without any change.

We noticed thet the user DOMAIN\user had a TEMP.DOMAIN profile path due to faulty permissions on the profile store and that this path thoug its fixed was stil configured in the AppV part registry according to below.
Since this key is global to the server and not bound to the user account it wasnt removed with the user profile, we tried removing the specific keys manually where the user account UID occured without any change to the problem. The removed keys werent
    regenerated in the registry though.
The specific user account SID uses TEMP.DOMAIN paths (\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\AppV\Client\VFS) for two String Value names "TargetLongName" and "TargetShortNamefolders" in the following key (and others):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\MAV\Configuration\Packages\04ADC3E8-E368-4B95-98AF-F53A625070CD_C248B175-B174-41F5-A4D6-62835CF86519\UserConfig\S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX
As mentioned the UID keys "S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX" did not reappear UNTILL we manually created the folder C:\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN with full permissions for the affected user. Once this folder was created App-V recreated the registry keys "S-1-5-21-XXXXXXXXXX"
with the correct \Users\USERNAME\* values however the icons for the applications was distributed to the C:\TEMP.DOMAIN\Desktop folder and since the users desktop is accually in C:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop none of the icons was visible to the user.
Another user had similar issues but with the java plugin for internet explorer failing without error messages, once that user got access to C:\Users\TEMP.DOMAIN the user was again able to run java.

    Cheers,
Ended up putting in some workarounds.

  • User login with details

    hi guys,
was need to come out a report for the user login details. which has to have the date and time of the user login to SAP, with the terminal ID access from and transaction has done. can any one tell me what table it is from? or is there existing report that i can view all this? thanks

    hi,
you can find the transactions by a particular user from the transaction SM04.
SM04 gives you the details of the users logged in,terminals, transactions the user is working on, the time he has logged in,no of sessions user has opened, and the memory used by the user's programs... all of that w.r.t to the client we login. but we can't get info like date and number of times the user has logged in.
    U can see tables:
USR01 User master record (runtime data)
    USR02 Logon data
    USR03 User address data
    USR05 User Master Parameter ID
    USR12 User master authorization values
You can also use transaction code ST03N.
    1. Go to tx code - ST03N
    2. Under "Workload" you can select your "Instance or Total" so that it expands and shows you Days, Week, Month.
    3. If you want to look at the transactions executed for a particular day, lets say, then double click on any day.
    4. At the bottom left you get "Analysis Views"
    5. Select & expand "User and Settlement Statistics"
    6. Double click on "User Profile"
    7. On the right side of the window you get a list of all the users
    8. Double click on a particular user you want to view the details of.
    9. The new screen will display the "Transactions/Reports Utilized by User XXX"
If you want to track which users executed a particular transacation then follow this:
    10. In "Analysis Views" expand "Transaction Profile"
    11. Double click on "Standard"
You can view the list of Transactions and Reports.
    12. Double click on the Tx Code or Report you wanna check and it will show the Use of it.
    hope this is helpful
    regards,
    sravanthi

  • User login report in Active Directory for specific date and time

I want to get User login report in Active Directory for specific date and time e.g user logged in at15-01-2015 from 8:00am to 4:00pm
Is any query, script or any tool available?
    Waiting for reply please

You can identify the last logon date and time using my script here: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Get-Active-Directory-User-bbcdd771
If you would like to get back in time and see when the user did a logon / logoff then you need to have auditing enabled. Once done, you can records from Security log in the event viewer: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/98cbecb0-d23d-479d-aa65-07e3e214e2c7/manage-active-directory-users-logon-logoff-events
I have started a Wiki about how to track logon / logoff and it can help too: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/20422.record-logon-logoff-activities-on-domain-servers-and-workstations-using-group-policy.aspx

  • Flash not working in any browser for one user login

    Hello,
I recently got my macbook pro back from repair with a new logic board, and all of a sudden Flash doesn't seem to work in any browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) for my main user login. It crashes nearly every time - in Safari it just won't load any Flash content and the activity window gives an error, and in Chrome it pops up a "Flash has crashed" warning.
I made a new user account, and Flash works perfectly well in all browsers under that login (and the guest login). This leads me to believe it must be a broken file in my user Library, but I can't figure out which one it would be.
I don't imagine this to be related to my new logic board, but I thought I'd mention that anyway. I also updated Safari to 5.1.1, which is more likely to be a cause?
I'm running  OS 10.6.8, Macbook Pro 2.53ghz. Browsers are Chrome 14.0.835.202, Safari 5.1.1, Firefox 5.0.1. Flash plugin version 11.0.1.152.
I've uninstalled Flash, repaired preferences, reinstalled Flash, re-repared preferences, rebooted, all of those standard tricks, no dice.
Any support would be appreciated, I'd rather not have to migrate everything over to a new user account!

I have exactly the same problem that you have with my Mac Pro (10.7.2). At first there was only one site that was broken (I didn't pay any attention to that then), now I have found 3 different sites and sometimes problems e.g. in Youtube and other similar sites.
The broken ones are NHL Vault, Soundcloud music-plugin and RAY (browser poker client). Many other sites works just fine.
I suspect some kind of write issue to some of the flash storage/temp/cache folders but cannot resolve any further.
UPDATE: Wow, now it works! I did the above mentioned Flush-trick (manually deleted .sol files and their parent folders) and also deleted everything inside path: user/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#Security/FlashPlayerTrust/
Strange is that in any of those folder I didn't find any sign to Soundcloud and Ray, only NHL - and now all those are working.

  • How can i  get report no of user login in system

    Hello
how can i  get report no of user login in system
means user license login per day in system
what is strategy of SAP against licenses audit
how can i manage my license users ??????????
    Jayesh

    Hi Jayesh
You can use the Audit Transactions. Set the Audit Profile with Tx SM19 and then report with Tx SM20.
You can also use the programs CCUINIT and CCUEVAL. Report CCUINIT initialises the measurement of current users and report CCUEVAL will provide the report and the logs for you to download.
Also regarding the licensing of users,
    Refer to http://www.sap-img.com/sap-overview/help-to-understand-sap-licenses.htm
    and https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/licenseauditing
You will get everything you need

  • Temp Profile Problem. Windows 7, Domain

I have about 50 machines on domain with Windows 7 32bit OS.  We are having a problem with windows not grabbing our default profile for three of our users and instead giving them a Temp Profile every time they log into the domain.  One is a normal
user account and two are admin.  All other users can log onto any computer at anytime and they do not get the temp profile.  The three accounts get the temp profile no matter which computer on the domain they choose to log in to.  Any ideas?

Creating a default local profile for Windows 7
Create a new standard local user account (named STDPROFILE), add this account to the local Administrators group on the PC.
Reboot, then log onto the PC using the local user account from previous Step.
Set up profile settings as desired; desktop icons, mapped printers, FRVIS physical/logical, IE home page, etc..
Reboot when finished, log back onto PC with the local “Administrator” account.
Double-click “Computer”, then click organize, folder and search options. On the view tab, make sure “show hidden files, folders and drives” is selected; also uncheck “Hide protected Operating System Files”. Click OK
Under C:/Users, rename the hidden “Default” user folder (NOT “Default User”)
Make copy of the profile (STDPROFILE) customized in Step 2, rename the folder “Default”.
Right click the folder—under properties, then security tab—add “Everyone” permissions with Full Control (include all folders and subfolders).
    Run regedit.exe
Click on HKEY-LOCAL-MACHINE. Under File, select “Load Hive”
Browse to the “C:/Users/Default” folder, click on ntuser.dat (make sure hidden and system files are displayed). Name the key TEMPLATE_ACCOUNT.
Right click on the TEMPLATE_ACCOUNT key, select Export, save the .reg file to the desktop.
Open the .reg file with Notepad, and under “Edit—replace..” put the user name STDPROFILE in the “Find what” field, to be replace with the string %USERNAME% -- choose “Replace All” then save the .reg file. Double click it to re import the changes.
    Re-open regedit.exe
Under TEMPLATE_ACCOUNT – Control Panel – desktop, change “Wallpaper” path to the wallpaper of your choice (a local OR network path will work here). Check other settings and modify any other keys.
If RealPlayer is installed to the image—click on TEMPLATE_ACCOUNT—SOFTWARE—Realnetworks. Delete the entire RealNetworks Key. This key will recreate.
When done, click on TEMPLATE_ACCOUNT. Then click File, select “unload hive”. This will save the changes you made.

  • User Login problems

Last night I booted up my laptop and logged in as usual.  However, when logging in, it took some time to log in.  I noticed that everything was reset to something similar to a new user.  It acted like my user login profile did not exist.  It did allow me to log in, but non of my application specific data, side bar, my documents, etc existed.  Everything was wiped clean.  All programs were still there, so no factory reset or restore was done.
Since I did a backup on the 11th, I decided to restore from that backup.  However, after multiple attempts to do so, I still get the same result everytime I restore.  My username exist, but the user profile data is gone and never shows up.
Did a scan disk as well and nothing found to be wrong with the hard drive.  The only thing I can think of, is Saturday before I shut down, there were some Windows updates that were installed.  I have not used my laptop till Wednesday evening.  Since my backup was before the windows update, I figured this would solve the issue but with no luck.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, John

    John, welcome to the forum,

  • Anonymous login doesn't show user login channel

Recently i am doing some R&D work on portal server. Whenever the user logs in to portal server, it will bypass the authentication menus and login as anonymous user because i have set in the admin console to disable all the authentication methods except anonymous login. In order for the user to login again using membership login inside the anonymous login, at the advanced option under "Non Interactive Mode", i added "membership" as one of the variable. Now the problem comes when i added in a generic provider into my channel.I can't see the user login channel anymore whenever i log into the anonymous page. I have uncheck "the persistent cookies" at the advanced option in admin console but the problem still persist.Even if i never log in using the login channel at the anonymous user page, it will display "welcome new user" and bypass the page with "login channel". I hope you guys understand my question. :). Anyone out there knows what's going wrong here?

Make sure the iwtLoginProvider is present in the selected channel list for the anonymous user.
Go to the anonymous user profile /Manage_Domain/Role/Users and then anonymous user profile and check to see if you have the iwtLoginProvider added in your list of available and selected channels, if it is not present you have to add it.
Below the available channel list box
type iwtLoginProvider in the Channel Name text box. For the Class Name text box, type: com.iplanet.portalserver.providers.login.LoginProvider
    Click the add button
Now move the channel to selected channel list and then click the submit button in the bottom of the page.
