User logins not acting according to settings

I have 5 user accounts on the family Mac. We are running 10.3.9.
Login is setup to require passwords for each account. Automatic login is disabled across the board..."Automatically login as..." in the Accounts login options is unchecked, and "Disable automatic login" in the Security preferences pane is checked. Fast User Switching is enabled.
However...two of the five user accounts will still automatically login when you click on their names in the login window. To confound matters, if I were to use FUS to jump to one of the two accounts in question, I DO get a login prompt (as it should be)
I tried setting new passwords for the accounts (as Admin in the Accounts panel) but, even though, under limitations, they do not have the ability to change their passwords, I still get an error saying the users must change their passwords using their Keychain utility. ?????
To say the least, this has me stumped.
I had to have the tech at my Apple store do an archive and install last week, and I wonder if something didn't get buggered when they restored the user accounts. In any case, if anyone has an idea where I should be digging to find a fix, I'd very appreciative.

Now if I have all of that right here is what I suggest:
*Create a sixth account and make it an Admin Account. Set a password you will remember, as this will be the key to your computer System. This account will be used only for administering the computer. Whenever authentication is needed a login screen will popup for you to enter your User Name and Password.
*Go to the Apple Menu and log out this new admin account.
*Log in to old Admin account.
*Uncheck "Allow user to administer..." You have now made your account a Standard/Limited account as the rest of the family.
*Now authenticate and go back and reset all the Login Options/security measures you had in place as listed above: uncheck automatic login, display login as...(I suggest name and password--this way the login screen will consist of two blank fields in which the user will enter his/her name and password), enable fast user switching
*Reset and create new passwords for all Standard/Limited users.
Hopefully this will not change itself. You now have a computer on which not even you can inadvertently install anything.

User login not starting up but others do

I have been frustrated by the fact that the main login for my intel mac running snow leopard will not log in, but other user log ins will. The computer will boot to the log in screen, and if I select other users (wife, kids) it logs them in no problem. My log in hangs immediately after selecting my name. I can safe boot to the login, and if I safe boot, do verify and replace permissions, then this also "sometimes" works for one log in, but otherwise it hangs. I have cleared the start up items, but still no luck. Also, if there is a major osx update, then if I download and install the update the first time I restart it will restart. I would like to keep this login going, if possible, otherwise I will have to back up itunes, iphoto, etc. and delete the user and make my wife's the main one. I can't see any difference in the initial log in screens between users, it seems the same things are loading up.

I would recommend starting the machine up from the dvd disc that came with it in the box, and do the repair permissions from there (also may be worth doingh a repair disc while youre in there too).

User login not working properly iMac 27 3.4 lion

My user account will not work. Every time I login with my name it shows me logged in a "Postgresql" and I have no access to my files. Sometimes I'll leave it overnight and when I come back to it its correct and everything's in place. Whats going on?

I'd recommend first restarting in Safe Mode, this will reset some caches. It's possible one became corrupt somehow. If that doesn't work then use Changing or resetting an account password to reset it.

Network user login not always correct

I am using OS X ML (Mac mini server, 8GB RAM, ML 10.5.8) with several clients (mainly iMacs) logging in the OD. Most of the time the login process seems to work OK, but apparently something goes wrong and the trash is not correctly recognised (getting the infamous "items will be deleted immediately"). Logging out and then again in (sometimes this must be done repeatedly - 3 or 4 times) usually settles it and the trash behaves again normally.
Any idea why?

The Snow Leopard/Mac mini Server is bound to the Leopard Server directory. And on the Snow Leopard Server the Network Account Server is set to the Leopard Server. The only issue I am having is that I have a network account, but I cannot login into the Snow Leopard Mac Mini server as a network account user, although I can login into the Snow Leopard Mac mini server as every other network account user on my network. AND I can login into my network user account form the other Leopard Client machines in my office.

Adobe Media Encoder CS 6 works for one user login - not the other

Slightly odd... but Adobe Media Encoder CS 6 will open fine in my basic test user account but not my main user account (or guest account).
In my main account in will crash just before it starts to load up all the bits 'n' pieces but loads up perfectly in my test account.
So there's no problem other than something different about the USER accounts and I really can't work out what that could be. Anyone got any ideas?
I also have AME 5.5 in both accounts and they both work perfectly.

Oh, I've just realised that chucking away the AME prefs from (below) has solved the problem. Someone mentioned chucking away prefs in another thread but I must have chucked the wrong ones. So, if anyone else has this problem then try this...
USER Library > Preferences > Adobe > Adobe Media Encoder (chucked this whole folder way containing 5.5 and 6 prefs). New ones were made and both working perfectly

Loading swf files for anonymous user login

We are having swf file retrieving from oracle database in home page. I can able to view swf file for normal users, but anonymous user login, not able to see swf file in the page. Other image format like jpg/gif files anonymous user login images are loading properly. Pls. kindly advise, where issue occurs.

I think the SAPSSLA. pse" not found, is not the problem as the parameter icm/HTTPS/verify_ client = 0 is set, it means that no ssl certifiacts are required.
problem is coming when the system is being accessed from externally using other secure domain name.
the system is being accessed ok from web urs which is internal, but not external.
for example in strust tcode the domain name is *abc.com, which is running fine when accessing the system internally.
but when the user is accessing this sytem from other secure login from *xyz.com, which is also the same companys domain, then the user not able to login, its showing errir.

Flash not working in any browser for one user login

I recently got my macbook pro back from repair with a new logic board, and all of a sudden Flash doesn't seem to work in any browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox) for my main user login. It crashes nearly every time - in Safari it just won't load any Flash content and the activity window gives an error, and in Chrome it pops up a "Flash has crashed" warning.
I made a new user account, and Flash works perfectly well in all browsers under that login (and the guest login). This leads me to believe it must be a broken file in my user Library, but I can't figure out which one it would be.
I don't imagine this to be related to my new logic board, but I thought I'd mention that anyway. I also updated Safari to 5.1.1, which is more likely to be a cause?
I'm running OS 10.6.8, Macbook Pro 2.53ghz. Browsers are Chrome 14.0.835.202, Safari 5.1.1, Firefox 5.0.1. Flash plugin version 11.0.1.152.
I've uninstalled Flash, repaired preferences, reinstalled Flash, re-repared preferences, rebooted, all of those standard tricks, no dice.
Any support would be appreciated, I'd rather not have to migrate everything over to a new user account!

I have exactly the same problem that you have with my Mac Pro (10.7.2). At first there was only one site that was broken (I didn't pay any attention to that then), now I have found 3 different sites and sometimes problems e.g. in Youtube and other similar sites.
The broken ones are NHL Vault, Soundcloud music-plugin and RAY (browser poker client). Many other sites works just fine.
I suspect some kind of write issue to some of the flash storage/temp/cache folders but cannot resolve any further.
UPDATE: Wow, now it works! I did the above mentioned Flush-trick (manually deleted .sol files and their parent folders) and also deleted everything inside path: user/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#Security/FlashPlayerTrust/
Strange is that in any of those folder I didn't find any sign to Soundcloud and Ray, only NHL - and now all those are working.

User Login - go to previous URL not working

I have a user login set up using the DW server behaviour.
The problem I have is that the redirect to the previous url doesnt work and always directs a successful login to the default successful login page.
The problem seems to revolve around this part of the code:

and in particular the use of the && FALSE check. I can see from my debugger that the value of $_SESSION['PrevUrl'] is properly set to the previous url. If I remove the && FALSE check the login works as I would expect and redirects to the previous URL. However, as this is 'out of the box' DW code I am concerned in case removing the && FALSE check may be doing some harm. I have to admit I dont understand the logic of what the && FALSE part of the IF statement is actually checking for.
Any advice and/or reassurance that by removing the && FALSE is not doing any harm or exposing me to any risks would be appreciated.

As I step through the code and watch the variables I can see that the value of $_SESSION['PrevUrl'] is equal to the previous url but $MM_redirectLoginSuccess remains as the default success page.
If I remove the && FALSE element from the IF statement, the value of MM_redirectLoginSuccess is changed to the the value of $_SESSION['PrevUrl'], which is what I want.
So my question is, what is the && FALSE bit doing and why is it there and do I need it?

Right now my macbook pro requires an admin password before connecting to a new wifi network. In other words when a user that is not an admin tries to connect to a new wifi network the pop up displays indicating that it is locked and an admin password is required.
Is there a way to remove this restriction so that a non admin can connect to wifi without the mac's admin password.

You can enable / disable this option in System Preferences:
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab > Require administrator authorization to: Change networks
