User managed slide show

Hi - I've been searching for but can't find a DW extension or 3rd party software that allows the photos in a slide show to be kept in a folder that my client can easily ftp?  I don't want him to have to edit page code when he wants to change photos in the slide show viewer . I'm using DW8 on a PC.

Hi,
in my last homepage for elder people and people with disabilities I had the same problem. They (non-technical, too) only would like to upload their images from a directory and eventually adjust the album to their conditions. I found the solution in the offer of the provider (1&1). They had at the normal account two free photo albums (that's why I gave you the recommendation to ask the provider). Here you see their bundles (look for the green arrows at the bottom):

Such an offer must be given for you too, right?

  • Media Manager slide show timing help

    Hi,
Not sure which forum this belongs but I have built multiple slideshows on my vista 32 machine using media manager.  I added music in the back.  When shown on my pc the slide show takes the timing settings I gave and runs perfect.  However when I go to the tv, the timing is fixed at 5 sec.  What can I do to adjust the timing?  Also, is there a means to play in a loop?  I have a music file with slide show I want to use on my large video wall during a party and want it to set to loop (100+ slides).  Thanks for any help!

Open your project. Hover your mouse over the music track in the timeline and when it changes to a hand symbol, click once to highlight the track you want to remove. Then hit delete.

  • Intalling a slide show that can be edited by contribute users

I have developed a standardized template for a number of non
profit organizations so that they can use contribute to update
their websites without changing the template.
Is there a way I could develop a slide show in dreamweaver
and upload it so that contribute users can change the photos and
comments associated with the photos without them changing the way
    the slide show works?

    Yes.
You will need another secure zone, specifically for those 5 users.
You will need to check the box in the web app settings that says anyone can edit the items.
Show all web app items on a page in the new secure zone. (note: use {module_webapps}, not {module_webappscustomer}, otherwise they will only see the items they personally created)
Make a custom list layout where you will create an edit link. You won't be able to output the edit link as a tag because we aren't using {module_webappscustomer}. You will need to create a link that looks something like: <a href="{tag_itemurl_nolink}?A=Edit">edit</a>

  • Slide show for PC users?

How do I burn a slide show to CD or DVD for PC users to view?
    thanks

    steven:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can send the slideshow to iDVD and burn a DVD disk that can be played on PCs or thru TVs via a DVD player.
If the PCs have Quicktime installed you can export your slideshow to Quicktime movie and burn that to either a CD or DVD depending on the size of the file.
A third method would be to create a HTM gallery web page with the slides using the build in gallery mode in the Export window or the freeware Galerie. Then burn the folder to a CD. The PC users can open the index.html file on the browser and view the photos with their browser.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

  • LR3 Slide show photo orientation - bug or user ignorance???

I am building a slide show in LR3 and some of the file orientation shows up in the slide show incorrectly.  For instance, I want the file to show vertical but in slideshow it shows sideways.  I have updated the file in Library and created a a Collection for the photos I want in the slideshow... in the collection and in the library the orientation is correct but the slideshow view still shows it sideways.... Not sure if I am doing something wrong or the program is bug... either way its annoying.  Any thoughts on how to resolve this?

  • How can I manage the sequence of photos viewed on the Apple TV via i Tunes Home Share?  The photos in my directory are sequenced, they display in random order in the slide show.

I am accessing a directory of photos on my network, using Home Share within iTunes.  The photos are displayed in random sequence, which is not helpful for an organized slide show.   Any ideas on sequencing the photos?

Actually it appears that the sequence is likely by date/time.   Filename is DEFINITELY NOT the sequence.  I am trying to create a slideshow in iPhoto, fool the date problem by changing all dates to today, and sequencing by filename.  A very cumbersome process to an illogical problem, does not make sense to me at all.
    Thanks for trying to help.

    Leaps beyond the ordinary...
Efficient code and buttery smooth animations make for a truly
    engaging
user experience. Slide Shows and individual images can be
    bookmarked and
all images can be viewed - even if JavaScript is disabled.
    Search Engine Friendly
Unlike many of today's Flash and AJAX applications, Slide
    Show Magic
markup is always fully visible and indexable by leading
    search engines.
    Auto-Choreographed Animation
Slide Show Magic detects the size of each incoming full-size
    image. If
it's the same size as the current image, the system will
    employ a smooth
cross-fader - simultaneously fading out the current image as
    the new one
fades in. If the incoming image is a different size than the
    current
one, the system will fade out the current image, glide the
    image
container to the size of the incoming image, then fade the
    new image in.
    It's all automatic.
    Staged preloader
When the slide show is running in automatic mode, the system
    will
preload the next image as the current one is being shown,
    providing a
    seamless experience in most cases.
    Intuitive toolbar controls
The on-page toolbar contains conventional media controls:
    First,
Previous, Play, Pause, Next, and Last buttons. It also
    contains a slider
bar that allows users to adjust the slide show timing, plus
    buttons to
toggle visibility of the thumbnail display and navigation
    menu, and an
    image counter.
    Drag-enabled thumbnail panel
The Thumbnail panel can be dragged about the screen, enabling
    users to
fine-tune the interface for best viewing of the show.
    Full-Size images can be hyperlinks
Each full-size image can optionally be set as a hyperlink to
    another
page, programmed to open in a new window or tab.
    Image descriptions
Each full-size image can display an optional description,
    which can
contain any type of valid markup (paragraphs, tables, DIVs,
    lists,
    links, or images).
    Automated image processing with Fireworks...
Web-ready images are automatically produced from your
    original images,
which can be located on any drive connected to your computer
    - including
drives mounted by your digital camera. Slide Show Magic
    handles all
image processing automatically - preserving your original
    files in their
original locations in their original and unaltered states.
    Your images
are scaled, optimized, and neatly organized into folders
    within your
    defined site.
    Import your existing images...
Point to a folder (or folders) that contain your existing
    full-size and
thumbnail image and Slide Show Magic will match them up and
    add them to
your slide show - unaltered and ready to view.
    Organize Images into sets
Slide Show Magic enables you to define logical image sets and
    organizes
the thumbnail panel into navigable sets.
    Mix landscape and portrait orientations
Your images are never distorted in any way. Original aspect
    ratios are
always preserved. Use both landscape and portrait images in
    the same
    slide show.
Deploy alone or inside existing layouts
Slide Show Magic can be inserted on a page by itself or
    inside an
    existing page.
    Select from 6 Themes
Select a dark toolbar, a light toolbar, shadow boxes (in 3
    sizes), or an
image rotator interface. Style themes can even be switched
    for existing
    slide shows.
Manage it all inside a dedicated Dreamweaver Interface
    Add (append) new images
    Delete images or re-order them
Manage Descriptions, links, and ALT text
Edit existing full-size or Thumbnail images
Reprocess all of your slide show's images
And lots more, including a comprehensive manual and free tech
    support.

How do I move Elements 8 projects (slide shows) from a Windows XP computer to new Windows 7 computer that also has Elements 8 on it so that the slides shows will work (Elements 8 works well on the Windows 7 computer & I have done several new slide show projects on it)?    I tried backup & restore without success.  I have also found the .psess files and copied them to the catalog in the new computer but when the sides shows are opened none of the images or music is there.  Only the text that I entered shows.  I have even tried to replicate the file paths from the XP computer to the new computer to see if that will help.

UPDATE:  By a stroke of luck I happened to find a catalog link (a PSE8D file) in the 'My Catalog' file where the imported data was stored.  When I clicked on it to investigate what is was 'magically' all of my transferred projects appeared in Organizer.  Upon further investigation I found that the projects transferred from my XP computer were stored in a hidden catalog that had to be accessed through the Custom Location option in Catalog Manager (accessed by clicking File then Catalog then Custom Location).  No Windows or Elements search revealed this fact.  I am appreciative that I just got lucky.  The Adode/Photoshop company was absolutely of no help.  If fact to me their structure is designed to avoid contact with their customers unless you're buying a new product.  Their products have many good features (even though user unfriendly) and it's a shame they don't value their customers more once the sale is completed.
Bottom line:  All of the projects (sideshows) have been recovered and work in my new Windows 7 computer.  I hope my experience helps others.

  • Sound cuts out on DVD slide shows with music

I have tried 5 DVD slide show programs with the same result.  Hewlett Packard says my hardware is OK but I have a compatability problem.  My wife has the same compaint.  Can you help with my computer?

Before doing anything with the computer in question, backup all the music files in question to either a flash drive or CD. Try  that music, etc on an independent computer, either friend's or at a library to see if the files are good and do not exhibit the problems that are being observed on the computer in question.  If they play OK elsewhere, then try the "Recovery Partition Manager" to return the computer to "like from the factory".  With all the software experimenting, it could be a problem between the different software installs. Once the computer is "like from the factory" again, then try to play the music that was backed up on the "factory fresh" installation without any other software installs.  Report back on how that goes.

  • IPhoto slide shows and rotation

Slide shows I have created in iPhoto 6.0.6 and synced to Apple TV have occasional images rotated 90 degrees from normal. They show fine within iPhoto previews, but give a different result on Apple TV. Any idea how I can resolve this?

I've managed to solve this problem without resorting to Apple's suggested manual revert on each photo. Here's what I've done.
Disclaimer: 1) This involves some light work in the Terminal. If you're not comfortable with that, you'd probably be better off following Apple's suggestion. 2) It's always wise to have a backup of your photo library, just in case you make a mistake and want an easy way to revert to where you started. 3) I'm using iPhoto 6, not iPhoto 7 (which is the later version). The instructions shouldn't change much, but in iPhoto 7 you'll have to deal with the library being wrapped as a package. And there may be other minor differences I'm not aware of.
    1) Verify that you're dealing with the same problem I am. The major symptoms are that the image(s) appears correctly in iPhoto, but is rotated incorrectly in Apple TV. Also, the image should have been modified (probably rotated...) under iPhoto 4 or earlier, which means it was probably taken in 2004 or earlier, and if you click on the "Photos" menu while it's selected, "Revert to Original" will not be greyed out. Finally, if you open the photo in Preview (Right click on the photo -> Show File, then double-click to open), it should appear incorrectly rotated, as in Apple TV. If any of these things are not true, you should probably stop now, because we're not dealing with the same problem.
    2) Identify all the messed-up files, and put them in a new iPhoto album. This is the most tedious step. I just set my Apple TV to 2-second delay, played the Library slideshow, and followed along on my computer, dragging each messed-up photo into the new album I had created.
    3) Download ExifTool, a command-line utility that will let you modify jpeg metadata. <http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/> I didn't bother with the "Mac OS X Package" dowload -- just used the generic download link at the top of the page.
    4) Open Terminal, and cd to the ExifTool directory.
    5) Just to make sure things are working as expected, display the Orientation tag for one of your files. Type "./exiftool -Orientation " -- include the space at the end, and don't hit Return. Drag one of the messed-up photos into the Terminal window. The name of the file will appear on the command line. Now hit Return. You should get this output:
    Orientation : Horizontal (normal)
    6) Type "./exiftool -Orientation=Horizontal ". Again, include the extra space and don't hit Return. Drag the photos you want to fix into the Terminal window (might be wise to try just a few first, to make sure it works...) Before hitting Return, make sure each listed file appears in "iPhoto Library/Modified", not "iPhoto Library/Originals" -- you don't want to be messing with any originals. Hit Return. You should see this for each file:
    Warning: Duplicate Orientation tag in IFD0 - /Users/Shared/iPhoto Library/Modified/2004/Roll 31/IMG_0861.JPG
    7) The photos should now display correctly. Check to make sure.
    8) If you'd like to, clean up the backups that exiftool has created by executing this command (entered exactly, but -- obviously -- changing the path to point to your photo library):
    find "/Users/Shared/iPhoto Library" -name "*JPG_original" -exec rm \{\} \;
(Careful with this command -- it will permanently delete files. If you want to make sure you're deleting the correct files without actually doing so, leave off the "-exec" and subsequent stuff. Doing so will just list the filenames, not delete them.)

  • How do I open slide show in Elements 7.0

when I click on slide show the organizer loads and then it tries to load slide show but all I get is a warnig from IE that slide show can't load and then it quits loading and freezes the organizer so that I need to close it through the task manager. I have changed preferences and it did not help.

I had already tried a new user account and that did not work. I just reinstalled Photoshop elements and that did no good. I also reset preferences and that did no good. I just now tried to set up my 1st album I created and it sent me the same message not from IE but I am attaching a screen shot of the error message. I also installed the program on my laptop that is running Vista and the slide show works fine but it will not let me set up Premier for some unknown reason. Also my kodak printer will not print the photo size (6x4) when it is selected. I have to print it out using Kodak programming or with my old version of Adobe photo shop. The old version however does not recognize some of the new fangled things used in the 7.0 version. I may have used the wrong description of the error message, but the  screen shot will show who is sending the error messages.

Subject: how do I open slide show in Elements 7.0
You broke your filetype associations. IE should not launch when you open a slideshow. it previews in the organizer itself. Either that or you broke your registry. Try uninstalling the software and reinstalling. (no you will not lose all your pictures or work.) If that doesn't work, try creating a new account on your computer. If you are unsure of how to do that, call your computer manufacturer, do not call Adobe, they are closed on the weekends, for support.

  • Poor photo quality when importing slide show into Elements 10

    Hello,
I'm using Elements and Photoshop Elements 10 on Vista.
What I'm trying to do is import a slide show I made in Photoshop in to a movie I'm making so that the slide show appears as a menu item and I don't have to include a separate disk for the pictures. I've sucessfully imported it, added the menu marker and the disc works, but the photo quality is really crappy. When I play the slide show on its own, the pictures are fine. What am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!
    Mary

    Welcome to the forum.
    They work on several levels:
A subscriber comes with a problem/question, and then, hopefully, someone will have an answer
A subscriber comes with a problem/question in mind, and then finds other threads, very similar, and hopefully gets the answer
A subscriber comes to read, to pick up ideas, etc.
In your case, it appears that # 2 worked, just as it should.
As for your question, PrE can produce SlideShows for display from DVD-Video, as good as it gets. Where commercial DVD-Videos enter a different realm, is with Video footage, with motion. There, Hollywood uses special Transcoding software, that allows for many, many more passes to identify the areas of motion, to Transcode at just the right Bit-Rate, for best results. PrE does that with but two passes, unlike the US $ 500,000 programs, staffed by highly-trained experts, who do nothing but Transcoding, all day long. PrE is limited in that respect, but with SlideShows, it will be able to apply the highest Bit-Rate (the DVD-specs. are strict here, so, though higher Bit-Rate = higher quality, DVD-Video can ONLY go so far.) Also, Hollywood uses DVD-9's (DL) so that more Duration can be authored to disc, at the highest-allowed Bit-Rate, for each segment of the Video. With a SlideShow, the Bit-Rate will be as high as the DVD-specs. allow, and per the Duration of the SlideShow vs the capacity of the disc.
Now, there are some other considerations, such as the limited Color Gamut (and Gamma) of DVD-Video vs display on a calibrated computer monitor, or a calibrated Broadcast monitor. One needs to study that limited and different Color Gamut, and perhaps adjust the colors first, in Photoshop. PrE is not designed for Broadcast output, so lacks many of the Tools, that PrPro has. Also, very few PrE users have a calibrated Broadcast monitor hooked up for Color Grading. Last, even if one has produced the ultimate output, with full understanding of the Color Gamut, and used a perfectly calibrated Broadcast monitor, there is no telling what the calibration of the client's monitor (computer, or TV) will be. What is perfect on a calibrated Broadcast monitor might look great on the client's setup, or perhaps not. A Broadcast Engineer can only adjust to standards, and hope for the best, when the disc hits the public. Same for Audio. Who knows what "Aunt Marge" has to play back the DVD-Video?
For ultimate results, I would create a Timeline with a few Still Images, but with each adjusted in slightly different ways in Photoshop. Add a Title, like a Lower-Third, with the Color and Gamma settings over each version, maybe 5 variations, that are slightly different. PS allows one to adjust Colors and Gamma in many ways, so explore. Then, author that Timeline to DVD-Video, using high-quality media, and test on their DVD player/TV setup. See which version looks best, and note the specifics from that Title. Use that to process the actual Still Images for the DVD SlideShow.
Also remember, if one has set things up ideally, they will have calibrated their system and Photoshop. As Photoshop is a Color Managed Workspace, things will be, as good as it gets. DVD-Video, and TV's are NOT Color Managed Workspaces, and most consumer TV's are out of general calibration, having just the generic setting from the factory. Nothing can be done about that.
As mentioned above, if the playback is for a computer (not a DVD player and TV), then better Color and Gamma might be achieved by doing an AV file, and then burning that to a DVD-Data disc, for delivery. However, one still has the variables of the client's computer, its monitor and even the software player used. All play a big role in how that AV file will play for them.
Good luck, and I wish there was an "iron-clad" answer, as to how to achieve the ultimate results, but there are so very many variables involved.

  • Capture Audio and Slide show with JMF?

    Hello All;
Can anyone guide me to start on how to stream or capture both Audio from the Mic and Slide show from Power point and generate a AVI file.
ie., User starts presenting a Conference with Audio and Slide show, I want to implement an Application that runs in the background and Merges Audio and Slides to a AVI or MOV file.
    Please help...
I tried using Screengrabber but please let me know what you think...

Well,i wnt to do that too.
I have this Algorithm(didnt implement that but...)
    I will use Two Threads
one will be the Screen Grabber,
and with synchronzed Methods, and the Other thread will capture my voice .
Thus ,meaning using ONE Processor,TWO DataSources that we will merge and ONE dataSink to Save on a file.
That Bring me to My Question:
I cant Grab the Cursor in my Screen Grabber.
    I use the Following Code:::
    DataSource ds = Manager.createDataSource(new
    MediaLocator("screen://0,0,176,144/10"));
    MediaPlayer mp=new MediaPlayer();
    mp.setDataSource(ds);
    mp.start();

  • Broken Slide Show

I have been editing a website for a client and have encountered what seems to be some sort of slide show module on the webpage from the last person he had working on the website, all it does is show a black box with a small white circle in it with a spinning black triangle in that. I have found no way to remove the module. all the InContext editor tells me is that it is a dynamic object and I may only edit it using the online editor. however I am unable to find any such online editor.
It is pretty much the only thing keeping us from going live as my Client does not want it on the website for users to see.

the inContext editor is not how you develop the actual websites, it is only a basic thing for simpler sites to edit content.
Likely there is a web app built and javascript to control that. Likely also that this module tag is in the template or the page that you see.
You will need to either connect via ftp and manage and develop the site using your prefered site editor software or login to the admin, work out how it was built (as in check the page and templates) and locate the module and surrounding html and javascript and css and edit as you need to.
