User Management - rogue super user...

I have a situation where we want to give the Advanced User Role the Privilege to add new users/reset passwords etc but this role should not be allowed to edit the application (Application customization Privileges).
What we've realized is that once the user has access to the User Management privilege that there is nothing stopping this user from changing their role to the Administrator.
Any ideas? Comments?
At this stage, I can only recommend that actual Administrators have user access rights, to prevent this problem.
K

If you have this privilege you are correct a user would have access to change their role to the Administrator.

Hello all,
has anybody faced a freezing problem when you click in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 down on alarm bar and then to Rogue AP alarms and then try to add an annotitation or change a rogue alarm to Friendly?
I tried it on different PC, different browsers (Firefox 14.0.1. Chrome ...) and the problem is still there.
Has anybody an idea?
Thanks.

I just tried it from my lab VM and had no problems. I use Chrome and the browser does sometimes not refresh for a while but that is just when I start to click around.

• Bookmarks don't work if your bookmark is in a folder, it just doesn't open the folder which has the bookmarks in, though the bookmarks can be accessed through the bookmark manager. Sup?

Bookmark folders don't work, and I can't click the give feedback button, fresh install of FF.

I do and I can't add folders or bookmarks.. And it's pretty hard to set a default theme when I have nothing in addons, extensions, appearance, plugins.
The problem seems to appear(bookmark problem) when I click a folder for the first time, it works perfectly but then when I move my cursor to other folder or just open a new one, it bugs.
Ok, even though you said don't select anything else right now, I selected the disable all addons and now it works perfectly, so when the Firefox 4 Beta 7 was installed it enabled all addons even the ones that aren't compatible with it and that is why I got the problem, maybe change that feature off in the .exe package?

• Updating SP of EP and users issue

Hi All,
I have EP SP9, and whats to update it to SP13. Can somebody tell me the procedure?
Also I need to configure SLD, but the J2EE_ADMIN does not have access to do it
http://abc:51000/sld
when logged in, give message like : No access to system: Contact System Administrator..
Any idea what roles to give to J2EE_ADMIN and from where and how? Also same while creating users in Identity management... ?

Hi PD,
To upgrade your SP, checkout the below:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/a8/02784278b66255e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
For your "No Access", as mentioned above, make sure you have the Super Admin role, as you need it for authorisations to perform SLD and also user management. Super Admin is like "SAP_ALL" for the Portal. Encompasses all administration tools in the portal administration environment .
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/8e/f0f7415e639c39e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
If you are not able to do authorisation changes as an admin then help using the Emergency password recovery procedure, as explained below.

• Project Management Vs Project Costing

Hi,
Is it true that I have to use Project Management(Project Super User responsibility) to create projects/templates in order to fully utilize Project Management Module(Project Super User responsibility)?
Does it matter which responsibility/module you use to create projects?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Sreenath

Hi,
The Project Management will allow the creation of the projects as well as the templates along with the management tasks like Reosurce serach utilization whereas if the Project Super User responsibility is used it doesn't have the management fetaures avaialble.

• SRM Manager to Display/Edit Purchasing Document

Hi All,
We have configured SAP SRM 7.0 with PPS so that an end-to-end process starting from creating Shopping-Cart until Invoice can be performed successfully.
We have user called: BUYER, and MANAGER. Each of them able to perform end-to-end scenarios.
But until now, we cannot make MANAGER to display/edit any purchasing document such as Shopping-Cart, PO, Contract that is created by BUYER.
We have tried to put all available PFCG roles & portal roles to MANAGER which make MANAGER a super-user. But still, MANAGER cannot see BUYER's document.
We refer to the following URL for PFCG roles & portal roles:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_srm70/helpdata/en/d7/4b8a5e1b324584a4aa16281f071a0a/frameset.htm
Does anybody have solution for this?
Thanks before.

Hi! About SC's, the only roles that are able to access SC from other users are:
Approver: only when the SC is awating approval;
Admin: through the monitor.
I hope this clarifies.

• Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

Has anyone implemented a security scenario for Project Managers, such that they can only see the information associated to their projects when using EBS as the source? If so,
- How did you identify the relationship between project managers and their projects? Did you use an initialization block and pull this information in from EBS?
- Where did you define the security/filtering configuration so that they were limited on what they could see?
- Did you create a custom responsibility for 'Project Managers' and have them access a set of Project Manager dashboard/reports that followed the Project Manager security model?
Thanks in advance.

Oracle Project Analytics - Project Manager Security Implementation

Coolmesh84,
Thanks for the great info and reply. This makes complete sense to me, but I just want to make sure I am clear on a couple points:
+1. Use an initialization box to filter the user's emp id+
You mean use an init block to pull the users employee id and store it in a session variable correct? The session variable will then be used later as part of the filter criteria.
*2. and add a filter to the required dimension table in business layer to filter based on the project_manager_id column for the project manager group.+*
To implement the step above, would you follow theses steps:
1. Go to Manage->Security
2. Under Groups, select the group planned to be utilized for this filter (in this case I double clicked the Project Manager group).
3. I then Click permissions button for this group
4. Go to the Filters tab of the window that pops up
5. Add a filter, go to BMM tab and select the Project dimension and then define a filter for Proj Mgr Id = nqsession.employeeid
+3. Ideally you should be able to use the OOTB project manager group for this security.+
This is a good point, but a few more questions here - There are a number of Project related groups (see below) in the out of box Oracle BI Apps RPD and all of them essentially roll up to the super group 'Operating Unit Org-based Security'. Is there a best practice or preferred approach for utilizing these groups as they related to Oracle EBS v12? Is there any good documentation out there to see what the intended use and setup is for these groups? Do all of these groups relate back to an EBS Responsibility? I have read through the OBIA Security Configuration document and basically all it says is to enable the operating unit org initilization block and thats all .. not really all that helpful.
Thanks again - k

• Cisco NAC Manager for 40 Servers

The NAC Super Manager is capable of up to 40 NAC Servers. What happens when I add the 41st NAC Server?
Is there a way to cluster NAC Managers?
Thanks!
Tom

The no.of servers managed by the CAM (inband or outband) depends on the CAM software (manager lite, standard manager and super manager). The licenses dont differentiate between Inband and OOB licenses. For adding more servers you need to purchase more license.

• Effect on OSD if remove primary site from SCCM heirarchy

Wanna ask, just a theory question, im currently planning to decommission and upgrade my current primary site server. The process will take roughly a few days. At the same time, I also have other site system server that also acts as an MP (has MP role). So,
for the time being I would not have an active primary site for a couple of days.
Question is, during that timeframe (when primary site not available), am I able to still do OSD? Was thinking the only issue of not having a primary site at that time, my user client machine will not be able to get the latest policy
cause any new policy will be push down from the primary site right...but the client will only be able to get the old TS advertisement correct... Question as below
Does the client machine still able to run the old advert advertised to it?
Does the client machine cache the TS advert and store it locally on their machine?
All the OSD content (boot image, OS image etc) is available in the DP, so it should be able to PXE boot and execute the TS correct if the primary site is not available?
Read the net on PXE boot flow at
http://blogs.technet.com/b/pingpawan/archive/2014/01/12/deep-dive-pxe-boot-flow-for-sccm-2007-2012.aspx. Its says as below. What I don't understand is isn't the primary server is the only one that can access the DB? Don't quite get it when it says
WDS can also access the DB....?
WDS/PXE sever runs a stored procedure, LOOKUPDEVICE for the client machine against SCCM DB. If the machine is found in the DB or If there is an advert for Unknown collection, WDS signals client to proceed with the PXE
boot.

• Best practices for ARM - please help!!!

Hi all,
Can you please help with any pointers / links to documents describing best practices for "who should be creating" the GRC request in below workflow of ARM in GRC 10.0??
Create GRC request -> role approver -> risk manager -> security team
options are : end user / Manager / Functional super users / security team.
End user and manager not possible- we can not train so many people. Functional team is refusing since its a lot of work. Please help me with pointers to any best practices documents.
Thanks!!!!

In this case, I recommend proposing that the department managers create GRC Access Requests. In order for the managers to comprehend the new process, you should create a separate "Role Catalog" that describes what abilities each role enables. This Role Catalog needs to be taught to the department Managers, and they need to fully understand what tcodes and abilities are inside of each role. From your workflow design, it looks like Role Owners should be brought into these workshops.
You might consider a Role Catalog that the manager could filter on and make selections from. For example, an AP manager could select "Accounts Payable" roles, and then choose from a smaller list of AP-related roles. You could map business functions or tasks to specific technical roles. The design flaw here, of course, is the way your technical roles have been designed.
The point being, GRC AC 10 is not business-user friendly, so using an intuitive "Role Catalog" really helps the managers understand which technical roles they should be selecting in GRC ARs. They can use this catalog to spit out a list of technical role names that they can then search for within the GRC Access Request.
At all costs, avoid having end-users create ARs. They usually select the wrong access, and the process then becomes very long and drawn out because the role owners or security stages need to mix and match the access after the fact. You should choose a Requestor who has the highest chance of requesting the correct access. This is usually the user's Manager, but you need to propose this solution in a way that won't scare off the manager - at the end of the day, they do NOT want to take on more work.
If you are using SAP HR, then you can attempt HR Triggers for New User Access Requests, which automatically fill out and submit the GRC AR upon a specific HR action (New Hire, or Termination). I do not recommend going down this path, however. It is very confusing, time consuming, and difficult to integrate properly.
Good luck!

• Cannot Update Decimal Places in General Settings

When I try to update the decimal points in the Administration > System Initialization > General Settings > Display path, SAP B1 gives me the following error:
"Cannot update while another user is connected to the company."
I am the only one on the system as "manager" with "Super User" and "Full Authorization"...
The SAP B1 Guide titled "How to Make Initial Setting in Business One - US" says "you can change these settings at any time".
QUESTION: What might be stopping this change, and more importantly, how do I get around this error to be able to change the decimal points?
Thanks all - Zal

Hi Zal,
I agree with you about the strange messaging used by SAP.
But blocking the possibility to decrease the decimal places is extremely important.
Suppose you have inserted a sales document with two items in this way:
Item 1 ___Qty 1,234 ___Unit price 1,22 ___Line total 1,51
Item 2 ___Qty 5,756 ___Unit price 3,15 ___Line total 18,13
____Document total 19,64
Then, someone wants to change the number of decimal places of the quantity from 3 to 2.
What happens would be:
Item 1 ___Qty 1,23 ___Unit price 1,22 ___Line total 1,51
Item 2 ___Qty 5,75 ___Unit price 3,15 ___Line total 18,13
____Document total 19,64
If you try to do the calculations manually you will see that the results are not correct. In fact all the document would have to change in:
Item 1 ___Qty 1,23 ___Unit price 1,22 ___Line total 1,50
Item 2 ___Qty 5,75 ___Unit price 3,15 ___Line total 18,11
____Document total 19,61
Also if the document total will show correct (in the case of rounding the second decimal position of item 2), the totals of any line is wrong. In fact there is no recalculation at all in SAP (and must not be done).
Imagine such a modification over thousand of documents and all of the descendants (mainly if the have lead to printouts - as say confirmations - sent to customers or vendors).
None of the economic figures will match.

• Successful installation of 8iEE 8.1.7 on RedHat linux 7.2 but no luck with Oracle 9i

Hi All,
I've successfully installed Oracle8i EE version 8.1.7 on RedHat
Linux 7.2. However, I have NOT had much luck installing Oracle
9i version 9.0.1 on RedHat Linux 7.2. I am wondering if anyone
in this forum has any luck installing Oracle 9i on RedHat Linux
7.2. I am running Linux kernel 2.4.7-10.
Now I am not trying to start a shouting match here; however, it
seems to me that a person with any common sense would not run
Oracle database on a Windows platform. Instead of running it
on Windows platform, one would be much better off running it on
Linux platform. I am currently Oracle EE 8.1.7 on an dual-Intel
processor 266MHZ with 512MB of RAM with Linux as the Operating
System. I have to say that the performance of the box is really
solid. At the same time, I am also running Oracle EE 8.1.7 on
an identical hardware system with Win2K server and I have to say
that the performance system is really pitiful on this Win2k server.
The windows box can only 1 instance at a time. If I try to have
two instances running at the same time, the windows box just comes
to a screeching halt. In contrast, the Linux box really rocks. In
a testing environment, I have 3 instances running at the same time
and the linux is barely breaking a sweat. I am getting maximum
performance out of the linux box because I recompile the linux kernel
to optimize the box to run Oracle database.
Having said that, as an Oracle DBA newbie (with less than six months
of Oracle DBA experience, the last ten years as a Cisco/Unix Engineer),
I find it fascinating that Oracle is only certified to run on SUSE (may
be I am wrong and someone can correct me on this one) when RedHat is
probably the dominant Linux distro. It took three days to get Oracle 8i
version 8.1.7 to install on RedHat Linux 7.2. Why Oracle is slowed to
support Linux RedHat is something I just don't understand.
OK, enough of venting my frustration, if anyone has successfully installed
Oracle 9i EE version 9.0.1 on RedHat Linux 7.2, please share your knowledge.
In the mean time, if anyone interested in obtaining instructions on howto
install Oracle 8i version 8.1.7 on Redhat Linux 7.1/7.2, send me an email
at [email protected] and I will send the instructions. The instructions
are written specifically for "windows dummies" so it is very to read and
follow. If you have been Unix for a long time, there will be instructions
in there that are so easy some of you may ask why put those in there in the
first place. My response would be: "windows dummies".
Regards,
Michael (david)

I very much agree with you Oracle is working very much better on Unix/Linux than Windows BUT in many cases you are obliged to use windows ( in Case that My company high managment enforce it ) , I have installed 9i on Windows and Linux , I am herunder including the full details :
========================================================================
Installing Oracle 9i on Linux
Linux : Redhat 7.2
Oracle : 9i Server EE 9.0.1.0.0
RAM Used : 256 M Ram
Hard Disk : IDE RAID
Linux Kernel : 2.4.4-10
JDK : Blackdown jdk118_v3 => downloaded from www.blackdown.org
All shell here is the Bash shell ( Bourne again shell )
1. To run a shell script over Linux , just drag the shell file from the file manager and drop it to a shell window
Be sure to have swap space of 400 M or more
If the systems stop responding for some time , leave it , it will continue
Be sure to make a stage area for the CDs # 2 , 3 only because you will start from the CD 1 but after going in the installation the CDROM freezes and refuses to open door to replace CD ,, in this case you will switch to the last 2 CDs from the stage area
Make sure you have the following executables at /usr/bin : MAKE , AR , LD , NM , C for Unix that is installed during Linux installation from the distribution media
Steps ( Root User ) :
1. be sure to have to have your server domain is like hostess.com.eg and you can be able to ping it
     open /etc/hosts
     add a line as follows ( for instance ) :
     192.168.0.11 hostess.com.eg hostess
     ping hostess.com.eg
     ping hostess
     ping 192.168.0.11
 be sure to have a replay for all of them
2. install JDK inside the /usr/local directory => after downloading the JDK you can easily decompress it but just clicking at it using the GUI
3. get to the / prompt
4.     type ln s /usr/local/jdk118_v3 /usr/local/java
5. download binutil RBM from Redhat for version 7 of Linux to downgrade binutils for Linux 7.2 or you will encounter an error at the third CD set
6.     download it from : ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/7.0/en/os/i386/redhat/rpms/binutils-2.10.0.18-1.i386.rpm
7. run it as follows : rpm -Uvh force nodeps binutils-2.10.0.18-1.i386.rpm
8.     change to /proc/sys/kernel
9.     type cat sem
10.     you will get : 250 32000 32 128
     250 => SEMMSL
     32000 => SEMMNS
     32 => SEMOPM
     128 => SEMMNI
11. you need to have the SEMOPM to be 128 , to do so , locate the file called sem open it replace the value of 32 with 128
12. type again cat sem to be sure of taking the required effect
13. after the installation ends just re-install the 7.2 utils again as follows :
14. rpm -Uvh force nodeps binutils-2.11.90.0.8-9.i386.rpm
15. you can find the last RPM at the 7.2 CD set
16. after downloading the Oracle files from the net you need to decompress it as follows (one step) :
     zcat linux9i_disk1.cpio.gz | cpio idmv
     zcat linux9i_disk2.cpio.gz | cpio idmv
     zcat linux9i_disk3.cpio.gz | cpio idmv
17. you can decompress them at 2 steps as follows :
     gunzip linux9i_disk1.cpio.gz
     gunzip linux9i_disk2.cpio.gz
     gunzip linux9i_disk3.cpio.gz
     cpio idmv < linux9i_disk1.cpio
     cpio idmv < linux9i_disk2.cpio
     cpio idmv < linux9i_disk3.cpio
18. Now you have 3 directories , have care when Burning them to CD because you need to take care of paths
19. if you have downloaded the files via a Windows machine and have a MKS installed over it you can easily invoke Visual Pax and decompress the files at one go using the GUI program
20. log on to Linux as Root and run commands in the file commands.txt
21. log on as user Oracle to be sure that its created
22. log on as root again
23. get to the directory of /home/oracle
24. enable showing the system files
25. open the file of .bash_profile
26. add the accompanied bash file contents at the end of it to set the environment variables
27. log on as user Oracle
28. open shell and type set and be sure that environment variables are set correctly
29. open shell and change to the cdrom by typing cd /mnt/cdrom => Linux 7.2 is an auto mounting OS so you at no need to mount the CD drive prior to using it and if you need to mount it just type : AS ROOT
     mount t iso9660 /mnt/cdrom /cdrom
 this is surly after creating a directory at / called cdrom
30. Start the installer ( as Oracle User ) by typing ./runinstaller
31. the installer will ask you to run a started script as root , you may open a shell and type su then open Nautilus ( if using Gnome or File manager as super user if using KDE ) and drag the noted file to the shell screen and press enter ,, after it is ended continue with the installer
32. if asked to supply JDK home directory then it is /usr/local/java
33. Unix group Name ( to update Oracle software ) : oinstall
34.     Oracle home is : /oracle/9.0.1
35.     base directory : /oracle/orainventory

• Installing Oracle 9i (version 9.0.1) on RedHat Linux 7.2

Hi All,
I've been trying to install Oracle 9i version 9.0.1 on RedHat
Linux 7.2 with kernel 2.4.7-10. This RH 7.2 is running on my
Compaq Armada M700 laptop that has 800MHz CPU and 256MB of RAM.
I have 10GB of diskspace on this laptop.
Someone in this group posted a howto on how to install Oracle 9i
on RedHat Linux 7.2 but for some reasons, Oracle Universal Installer
still hangs at 74% of the installation. Here is what I did:
1) Install RH 7.2 on the laptop. I also make sure that make, ar,
ld, nm and C for unix got installed when I installed RH 7.2.
I also verify by using the command "which make", "which ar",
"which ld" and "which nm" and they are also in the /usr/bin
directory. I also make the /tmp partition to be 800MB and
the swap file to be 500MB,
2) Modify the /etc/hosts file. This part is easy. I can ping
both the hostname, FQDN and the IP address of the laptop from
both locally and remotely (tested with SSH connection),
3) Go to blackdown.org and download jdk118_v3
4) Uncompress and put it in the /usr/local/jdk118_v3 directory,
5) Make a softlink ln -s /usr/local/jdk118_v3 /usr/local/java
6) Download and install package:
rpm -Uvh force nodeps binutils-2.10.0.18-1.i386.rpm
7) In /proc/sys/kernel/sem file, I modify the third column from 32 to 128,
8) Download and install package:
rpm -Uvh force nodeps binutils-2.11.90.0.8-9.i386.rpm
9) Download Linux9i_Disk1.cpio, Linux9i_Disk2.cpio and Linux9i_Disk1.cpio
to my laptop hard-drive,
10)Run cpio -idmv < Linux9i_Disk1.cpio (for 2 and 3 well),
11)Create a user account "oracle". This "oracle" account belongs to
group "oracle". Furthermore, I also create a directory /oracle
and change the owner and group permission to account "oracle"
12)Start the installer ( as Oracle User ) by typing ./runinstaller
13)The installer will ask you to run a started script as root ,
you may open a shell and type su then open Nautilus (
if using Gnome or File manager as super user if using KDE )
and drag the noted file to the shell screen and press enter,
after it is ended continue with the installer (done),

Hi All,
I've been trying to install Oracle 9i version 9.0.1 on RedHat
13)The installer will ask you to run a started script as root ,
you may open a shell and type su then open Nautilus (
if using Gnome or File manager as super user if using KDE )
and drag the noted file to the shell screen and press enter,
after it is ended continue with the installer (done),
14)It asked to supply JDK home directory then it is /usr/local/java (done)
15)Unix group Name ( to update Oracle software ) : (I leave blank here)
16)Oracle home is : /oracle/9.0.1
/oracle/orainventory
From what the poster said, it should work; however, it did NOT work
for me. I've tried and tried but no avail. I have plenty of disk
space so I don't think space is an issue here.
Please help.

• Description of Seeded HR Responsibilities

Forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong area...
I am using the E-Business Suite (db version 9.2.0.6.0).
At one time, I ran across a document that detailed the progression of allowed functions from one seeded HR responsibility to another. For example, we have US HRMS, US HR MANAGER, US SUPER SRMS MANAGER, etc...and this document showed the accessibility difference between all these different areas. It would say US HRMS, and all the allowable functions. Then it would say in the next column US HRMS MANAGER and it would show all the same functions, plus the additional functions unique to that responsibility...and so on as the functions and accessibility increase. Basically we want to know "What's the difference?" So we can determine what level of access various users need.
If any of you recall something like this and could point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it. I'm sure I could join this data via TOAD off FND tables, but I thought I would ask before I try to recreate something that's probably alread out there.
Thanks...

Hi,
You posted this in English and this is Spanish forum, please move it to English HR forum.

• Implementing queues

Hi All,
I am trying to implement Queues in JE, I need to maintain sequence in which Orders arrive (if we run out of stock, the first users win). We want to walk the queue in that order to fulfill.
Looking thru docs and forums, it sounded like EntityStore with a sequence id seemed to be right approach (tho not sure of DPL performance - how does this compare with TupleBinding ? any comments appreciated ).
But then I'd like to hide the complexity of sequence id creation from entities e.g OrderEntity. So I captured this in a super class with useful methods that I can invoke as I place the orders and remove the orders.
@Persistent
public class Key {
@KeyField(1)
private int m_seqid = -1;
private Key() {
Key(int pSeqId) {
m_seqid = pSeqId;
@Persistent
public abstract class MyEntity {
private PrimaryIndex<Key, MyEntity> m_primaryIdx;
@PrimaryKey
private Key m_seq;
void setKey(Key pKey) {
m_seq = pKey;
protected PrimaryIndex<Key, MyEntity> getPrimaryIndex() {
return m_primaryIdx;
void setPrimaryIndex(PrimaryIndex<Key, MyEntity> pIdx ) {
m_primaryIdx = pIdx;
public void save()
try
getPrimaryIndex().put(this);
catch (Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
@Entity
public class OrderEntity extends MyEntity {
// sequence ids are managed in super class
private String m_xyz;
private OrderEntity() {
public OrderEntity (String _xyz) {
m_xyz = _xyz;
I create Env (transactional,), then I create EntityStore. Tried foll. combinations, and they all give exceptions, I am sure I am doing something wrong:
1.
primaryIndex = store.getPrimaryIndex(Key.class, OrderEntity.class);
gives
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Class is not persistent: com.sleepycat.persist.PrimaryIndex
2.
primaryIndex = store.getPrimaryIndex(Key.class, MyEntity.class);
gives
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Class is not persistent: com.sleepycat.persist.PrimaryIndex
3.
If I dont declare MyEntity as @Entity, or I declare it as @Persistent, I get
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Not an entity class: MyEntity
AT the end of the day, all I need is a way to walk the BDB in the order of sequence ID, I dont have to use DPL. I'd like to abstract that away so derived classes such as OrderEntry dont have to worry about it. Thanks for any advice.
Vissu

Hi Vissu,
Performance of DPL bindings is comparable to tuple bindings. DPL is a little slower because it's general purpose, but it's unlikely that this will make a difference.
As a first step in solving your problems, try making the MyEntity.m_primaryIdx field transient, by just adding the Java transient keyword. Of course, the index itself cannot be a persistent field of a record. By making it transient, the DPL won't complain about it. A transient field can be of any type, but a non-transient (persistent) field of an entity has to follow the rules spelled out in the DPL docs.
Persistence is explained here:
