User manual on pdf versus hard copy

Just curious to know other enthusiasts' opinions about Canon not providing a hard copy user manual.  I assume most if not all of the other manufacturers do the same, but one thing is for certain: I hate it!  I don't like having to refer to a pdf file to view the guide, and I don't care to print out a whole bunch of pages on my printer for frequently referenced material.
Is it just me, or are other people bothered by not having a hard copy user manual?

Hi, I can understand companies cutting cost on printing hard copies versus a PDF on a CD. When I got my 7D, refurbushed, it did come with a printed manual and I never opened it at all. i purchased a video by Blue Crane and have watch those videos several times and I believe a video is better than trying to read a company manual. After the videos, I then went out and bought David Bisch's manual on the 7D. Better written and have never wanted any infomation that was not in either item.

  • Documentation rant (slightly) -- no user manual in PDF?!?

I realize that in this day and age, manuals are bulky, extraneous and heavy. Oh, and not to mention they are also made out of paper. No big deal, honest.
I'm okay that there are no paper manuals, but why why WHY did they not include a standard PDF version of the user manual?
It's not even an option in the help menu anymore.
In looking at where the L8 manual is supposed to be, nested deep within the contents of the application package -- and voila -- instead of a simple, easy to use (and print) PDF file there are loads and loads of ... HTML files?!?
Does Apple really think that opening Safari (or Firefox) is going to be any faster than using Preview?
    Who signed off on this?
Sorry, it's a rant I know. If there is another solution, like buying bound copies of the manuals, I will do it. But why did they take away the pdf?!?

The manual format is not acceptable it needs to be pdf, browsers suck at displaying manuals. Its like Apple is reverting to Adobe help system.
APPLE if you are listening, I do not want to access the manual using a web browser!
I want to be able to read the manual using a scroll wheel not clicking a mouse button every time I'm ready for a new paragraph.
I want search limited to the manual I am reading, not all Pro applications. Even when selecting Logic Pro from the drop down it still searches all pro apps.
When I search I want to see the context of the word, not the paragraph heading.
When I am reading the manual I do not care about all of the on-line links. I am not interested in going to the Apple Training Center on the web. Get the idea. I want the manual optimized for my use at learning about Logic.
There must be someone new in charge of manual creation at Apple. If so, they should be fired.

  • Logo Visible in Print Preview, but not in pdf and hard copy

    Hi,
We have uploaded a logo to be shown in the footer. We are able to see the logo in the print preview, but when we print the invoice (SAP Script),  it is not seen in the hard copy. We tried by saving it as a pdf, even in the pdf, it is not displayed.
    We are on SAP 4.7
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Mick

    hi,
Am not sure what the exact issue could be, but i am expecting there may not be sufficient space to fit the logo. I suggest you to check the output by placing the logo in header whether its coming or not in hardcopy, that may help you.
    regards

  • User manual in PDF for AcrobatPro8 - where to find it?

I tried to print the Help of AcrobatPro8 however could not find an option to print whole manual as it is, for example, with Illustrator where you can get the whole manual in a neat PDF format.
The only way to print anything from the very large Help menu, apparently is to print page by page.
    The question:
Is there any website or link where I can download the  user manual for  AcrobatPro8   in PDF ?
    Thanks for any tip

The online Resource page for Acrobat 8 provides additional links and more detailed information, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/8.0/Professional/.

  • "iWorks" for iPad user manuals in PDF format

I would like to download all the iPad version of iWorks for the iPad in The PDF format so I may be able to read them in iBooks. I have not been able to find the manuals in PDF. Am I missing something? Are the manuals only in HTML?
    Thank you in advance.

I haven't seen them pre-packaged as a PDF, but if you go to the web Help pages:
    http://help.apple.com/iwork/
and click the icon for the printer in the upper-right, you can print the document as a PDF and can then sync that to your iPad.
    Regards.

  • HP 35s Scientific Calculator User Manual

Dear, HP Customer Support team I am the owner of one of your products HP 35S calculator (Serial number CNA229006J). After I bought it it was delivered with CD with manuals (all electronic). Due to nature of my job (drilling engineer) its not always convinient to use CD to read manual (for referrence)  to perfrom  certain type of calculations. My question is do you provide a hard copy (book type) manual?  I visited one of  the  HP calculator users forum and some users said that you provide hard copy manual for free if the product name and serial number provided. Could you tell me please is it possible.
    Many thanks,
    Ruzbeh

At one time HP would send a printed manual if you called the calculator support, but I am not sure this is still the case
    (see http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv019.cgi?read=174521 )
However, it would be worth a try to call calculator support, you never know.
You could also just print the chapters you most frequently need, saving unnecessary printing of the parts that are not relevant to you.
Note: I do not work for HP, I just like playing with calculators :-)

Hi, I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I downloaded the user manual.  However, it's easier on my eyes if I have an actual written user manual in front of me.  I can't seem to find out how to get one of these sent to my home address.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks so much for any assistance.

    Hello ChallengedGrandma,
I completely understand how important it is to have access to your user manual! I'm very sorry it is difficult for you to read the digital copy. At this time, the digital download of the manual in PDF form is all we have available. Once downloaded, you can print any pages you would like!
You can also visit any of our corporate store locations (found here: http://vz.to/1dDAB2W ) and hav the manual printed for you as well.

  • Motion 3 user manual hard copy

Is there a hardcopy available of Motion 3 User Manual?

I till cost you $50-$300 to get it printed at Kinko's or Office Depot.
Use full size paper, don't try to scrimp by using half sheets. The illustrations and captions go all to heck when scaled down.
Print both sides, punch for 3-ring binder.
Call around to find the best printing deal but I do not recommend trying to print it yourself unless you have access to a very fast laser that will duplex.

  • Motion 3 Manual - Hard Copy

Is there any way to obtain the Motion 3 manual as a hard copy ?
    Thanks

There is only one way I think - go to a printshop with the pdf file, they do the printing and binding for you. I did so with my Final Cut Pro - Getting started manual (the crossgrade I have had only dvds, no manuals). It costed not more than a typical paperback book. But still, you will need to print at least 3 volumes - the Motion manual is has almost 1000 pages!
If you really need a Motion book, buy one from the Apple Pro Training Series:
    www.peachpit.com
If you want to learn Motion from a book, they are definitely recommended.
The original PDF manual works better as a reference inside of Motion.

  • Could not open Help File 'Aperture User Manual.PDF'

I downloaded the trial version, while waiting for my boxed version of Aperture to arrive. Once it came in, I entered the serial number and continued using the original application. However, when I try to access the user manual via Help, I get an Alert saying, "Could not open Help File 'Aperture User Manual.PDF'". I manually copied the PDF file from the CD to the documents folder, and then from there to the Applications folder - nothing makes a difference. I even reinstalled - same results. I have tried some of the other items in Help -- if it is for a manual, I get the same Alert.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Russ

The files are all there. When I checked their properties, I noticed that the PDF files didn't point to adobe acrobat reader!
Before uninstalling Aperture and then reinstalling it, I tried to reinstall the latest version of Acrobat Reader. Suddenly, I could access the Aperture documents!
I am using a new iMac -- apparently, when I transfered all of my files from my old G5 iMac, Acrobat hadn't properly transfered. Reinstalling Adoe solved the problem!
    Thanks for the help!
