User Mapping through Personalize link

Hi,
I have a question.
When I click on the Personalize link, and go to User Mapping, I am selecting a system (alias) e.g: NPDCLNT000. Next, I enter the user and pass for this and click on save.
But, upon clicking on save, my user and pass simply vanish from the page.
The system still remains NPDCLNT000.
Is this normal, to be not able to see what user has been used for mapping?
Hope you understand what I'm trying to say..
Regards,
Shitij.

Hi Shitij,
no it is not normal that the entered data vanish after hitting the save button. Just to make sure I tested this on my local installation (SAP NW 7.0 SPS 11). The entered values are still displayed after I hit the save button.
What version is your system?
Best regards,
Martin

  • Portal - User mapping - umlaut - personalize - error

    Hello all,
did anyone hear of the following in the portal user mapping to a backend SAP system ?
A user has an account in a 4.7 SAP system and his password contains a german umlaut.
In the portal "User mapping" instead of SSO is active. The user clicks the "Personalize" iview to map his SAP User, he enters his SAP UID and his (umlaut-containing) password.
When he then calls an iview that is connected to the backend system (e.g. bwsp via ITS), he gets the message "No user mapping defined for system ...". He then can enter his UID/password for this single request, and when he does so, it works. Same procedure comes up, when he again tries to call the iview.
It seems, as if the password is written to the database in the wrong way ?
    Any experiences on this ?
    Thank you + regards
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas,
Go to User Admin - User Mapping. Search for the user and click on "Edit".
Now select the "System" defined for connecting to the SAP 4. 7 system. Give the user id and password for the system and click on "save".
Now try accessing the iview. You would be taken to the sap system directly without any request for login.
You can do the same, if the user has "Personalize" link available in the top right corner of the portal which comes by adding the "EU Role" to the user.
Hope this solves your problem.. If not pls get back.
    Regards,
    venkat.

  • Take in a user name through a link

I want to pass APEX a default username to compare with a database table, see if it's valid, and then proceed to the Application. I'd like this to be automatic, so it would be a flawless clicking of the link and boom you're looking at what you want to look at.
I don't know how to take something out of the URL and put it into an item, or variable, which could then be compared to a table item. Also, I didn't know if there was a better way to go about this, I've setup LDAP authentication and used APEX authentication, and unfortunately anonymity won't work for this application.

So you would like the application to know who is requesting a page by using the username value in the link, e.g., f?p=100:1:::NO::P1_USER:NEILIO and if that username is in a certain table you will let the page be shown. So if FRED or anyone else (who is not in the table) uses that link and passess in NEILIO or any other valid username, then FRED (or any other user) will be allowed to see the page too, is that right?

  • Portal and R3 user mapping

    Experts,
We are on EP6 with 4.7 backend and using AD as our data source.
We implemented ESS on ITS and we have few users who have different portal user ID and R/3 ID and I want their ID to be mapped to their R3 ID.
So far, I've added my r3 usrID as one of the parameters in AD and in the UM config file, I've mapped this field to userID.
I've defined the sap reference system and when I go to user mapping under "personalize" it says "Error occurred while reading the selected user mapping data"
Can someone tell me what could be wring with this setup?
    Thanks,
    James

Well, this may not be the "best way" to do it but.....
    <p>
    <img src=http://home1.gte.net/res00icr/SA.jpg>
    <p>
Make it a dedicated system and then you can have your users go up to personalize it once and done.  Then what every you need the back end for just reference the system you created.

  • User mapping is not saved

    Hi All,
i am doing user mapping in personalization window,

    Hi ,
I am configuring a production Server with SP14.
When i am in user mapping section, i find the error msg as below:
<b>There is a configuration issue which leads to problems when accessing user mapping data for the selected backend system 'ESS'. Usually, the reason is user mapping being configured for strong encryption, but the necessary additional files being missing. Check the security log file for further information and hints on how to solve the problem.</b>
I am not able to enter any user id / pwd ; The fields are greyed out.
I did solve the same in the development server using :
    <b>Goto System administration-system Configuration-UM Configuration-Direct Editing.
In that make the ume.usermapping.unsecure as TRUE.</b>
But on seeing your reply stating this is not suitable for Production server, i am bit confused.
Can you pls help with me an alternate solution..
    Thanks in advance,

  • User Mapping in JCO Destination

    Hi All,
My current configuration is as follows:
EP6 SP17 -> User mapped through Portal to R3 system.
JCO Destinations -> I use a one technical user for all the WAS users ('user/password' option)
I want that the JCO will use the same mapping as the Portal.
    Is it possible?
Is there a guide/tutorial for configuring the User Mapping option for a JCO destionation?
    p.s
i cannot use SAPLOGONTICKET because the WAS (Portal) user and the R3 user are different.
    Thanks,
    Omri

    Hi Omri,
I don`t think the Portal user mapping could be utilized by JCo destination on WAS in a trivial way.
You can try to read such data using Portal service in your WD application and afterward pass JCo connection to RFC model but may be it is not so good idea.
Another option is to move user mapping logic to R/3 ( don`t ask how it is just guess ).
Also there is no user mapping on the WAS regarding JCo destination (at least I have never heard about it).
    Best regards, Maksim Rashchynski.

Any help or advice you can offer will be gratefully received and of course rewarded with points.
    Thanks,
    Steve.

    Hi Sunil,
    Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately the Direct Editing tab is not available in EP7 (probably because it was so buggy in the first place).
Also, looking at our EP6 setup where the iView works just fine this parameter is set as:
    ume.usermapping.unsecure=FALSE
    Any other ideas?
    Regards,
    Steve.

  • JAVA API Personalization iview / User Mapping

I am using the following code snippet to get the
User Mapping from the "Personalization" iview
    IUserMappingData iumd = iums.getMappingData (systemalias, iuser);
Is there a similiar SET method?
    TIA -hs

    hI
When you use umdata.enrich(map), soon after that, use SET property in the Hash Map and finally call umdata.storeLogonData(Map). This map should contain updated credentials.
    Hope this works.
    Pls reward points if useful

  • User Mapping Data through IUser.getTransientAttribute()

    Hi All,
Was wondering if there is a way I can get all the IUserMappingData for an IUser without having to specify the system name.
i.e. Like I can call IUser.getRoles() can I do a similiar thing for User Mapping Data?
    I thought maybe -
    IUserMappingData nameSpaceMappingData = (IUserMappingData)iUser.getTransientAttribute(IUserMappingData.USER_MAPPING_NAMESPACE, ?name?);
But not sure what to put in as the attribute name, whether I put user, mappedpassword, systemalias, etc.
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Scott...

    storeLogonData(null);
How simple (and stupid of me!) was that?

  • Different ways to do User Mapping

    Hello all,
Could some one tell me about the ways in which we could map the user id to SAP r3 id. We already have a reference system which will do the user mapping.
Another way is to have the LDAP save the Mapped user id along with the authentication data.
Wanted to know if there are any other ways to do such a user mapping.
    Thanks ,
    Meghna

    Hi,
User mapping is used for Single Sign-On (SSO) to back-end systems. User mapping maps a portal user ID to the user ID of the back-end system.
Systems are represented by their default alias in various interfaces, such as the User Mapping dialog that displays during personalization. To make a system available for user mapping, you must:
&#9679; In the System Aliases Editor, define a default alias for each system that you create. For information about creating system aliases and default system aliases,
&#9679; In the System Property Editor, set the User Mapping Type property to either:
--> User: Only the end user can set user mapping
--> Admin: Only the administrator can set user mapping
-->Admin/User: Both the end user and the administrator can set user mapping
User mapping supports the following authentication methods:
&#9679; SSO using user ID and password
This method always requires user mapping. The portal ID is mapped to the user ID and password of the back-end system.
&#9679; SSO using logon tickets to ABAP-based systems
This method only requires user mapping if users have different user IDs in the SAP NetWeaver Portal and ABAP-based systems. Passwords are not mapped.
To access more than one ABAP back-end system, you can define a reference system. As long as all the ABAP back-end systems use the same user ID, the user can access all the systems by mapping their portal user ID to the user ID on the reference system.

  • Cannot view personalize link in the portal header

I cannot see the personalize link in the portal header of the BI portal. I have already verified the two things below:
    1) personalize link is enabled in masthead iview through portal content->portal users->standard portal users->default frame work page-> select masthead-> open its properties->enable *Show Link in Masthead: Personalize *
    2) The end user role is assigned under content administration->portal content->content provided by sap->end user content->standard portal users->worksets->portal personalization.
What else can i check, please help. I need this for end users to carry out user mapping. Or any other way they can carry out user mapping ?
    thanks

    Hi Balajee,
He can see the masthead property Show link in Masthead: Personalize so I doubt you need to make any changes to the PAR file for masthead.
personalize link is enabled in masthead iview through portal content->portal users->standard portal users->default frame work page-> select masthead-> open its properties->enable *Show Link in Masthead: Personalize *
