User name change, and now my settings are gone...

I clicked on Finder, and saw that my username was a____s_______ (which is my full name spelled out). As anal as I am, I wanted everything spelled with capitalization, so I left clicked, selected "Rename a____s_______" and proceeded to type is out like so: A___ S______.
Everything was going great until I clicked on iTunes and it acted like I was a brand new user. My personal music and playlists are nowhere to be found. Same is the case in iPhoto, and upon restarting, I'm back to a beautiful Mac blue desktop background like Day 1.
I know my iTunes, etc. still exist--if I click on Macintosh HD and then Users, under my old name (a____s_______) is a folder containing all my music, pictures, etc. in folders. Technically, I could drag everything into it's place, but besides the immense time block that would take, I don't know how to get back all my other settings (desktop, dashboard, widgets, address book, etc.).
Does anyone know of a quick fix to this? It's a little irritating--so close yet so far away, you know?!

Drag the "unwanted" Library folder to the Desktop. Move the Library folder you want to the proper location. Restart the computer. If all is well you can then delete the Library folder that's on the Desktop.
This is necessary because some items are "in use" when you startup. You cannot delete a folder if it contains items "in use." Once you replace the folder and restart the old folder will no longer have anything "in use" and can be dumped.

Aren't they in your iTunes library? If so, sync them back to your phone. If not, redownload them (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).

You would need to download iTunes on comp and download purchases again (you don't have to pay again) and upload your CDs again IF you sync your iPad to your computer it will erase everything

DId you fail to transfer all purchases to your computer before updating? Not good.

ITunes library help - moved to external drive and now my apps are gone?

I moved my iTunes library to an external drive, but now my apps are gone? I do have iTunes match and iCloud, so my songs are all on the cloud, but none of my apps are showing...
I copied everything over, consolidated, but I must have messed something up as I think I have too many library files on the external drive now. I can see all my files on the external drive, but they are not showing up when I open itunes. It looks like it linked to a new copy of a library as only my most recent apps are showing, nad none of my existing ones are on itunes. What should I do to fix this? How do I know which files to delete?

I followed the instructions from Apple support to move itunes to an external drive, did what it said (obviously I messed something up). I then started itunes and missed the part where it says to tell itunes where the library was, and consequently itunes created a new library with none of my apps or anything in it.
All of my music is on icloud and I als ohave itunes match, so all of my music is on the cloud.
I have read some of the other postings to delete the newly made (and missing apps) itunes library file and ithen point it to the correct library file, but I am now paranoid I would delete the wrong one.

Programm crashed, had to reinstall and now my notes are gone. Can I recover them?

I was reading an eBook form my research library which wille xpire in 3 days. I highlited some text and I made some notes. All of a sudden the program crashed when I tried to copy the name of a book in a footnote. I couldn't find the programme nor would the file open anymore. When trying to open the file it would send me to the Adobe website. So I downloaded the installer again and when trying to install I got a message that the previous version needed to be fixed. Adobe Digital Editions was fixed, I could open the book but my notes are gone.
Does this happen often? Is there a way to recover the notes?
System: Windows 8.
To be honest i am weary of using your software at all again. I think I will read it online form my library and copy every higlight immediately. It is nice that I can access books immediately but if this thing is going to crash whenever I prefer to wait one or two days to get the physical book.

If the notes are saved before the crash, it will be in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\My Digital Editions\Annotations\<BOOKNAME>.epub.annot

Sync'ed iPod to pick up a new album, and now all others are gone

Background:
I'm a long-time iTunes user and am on my third iPod and third iBook on the same libary, which is over 1500 songs. All either purchased from the iTunes store or uploaded from my CD collection. The libary is stored on an external Firewire hard drive. Sometimes I've lost several albums, and upgrades and re-syncs discovers them again. Today I have a specific example to inquire about here.
I have all of the albums by the same artist--eight or so--and was given her latest, so I uploaded the CD to iTunes. Today I realized I hadn't synced it to my iPod (30gig newest gen) so ran a sync. Now I have the new album, but all of the other albums from this artist are gone.
I would like to restore them, and if possible find out what else has been blown away. I don't sync Podcasts, movies, or videos to my client devices from the library--just songs.
The current "host" Mac for the library is my G4 running 10.5.1, this was iTunes 7.5. I also share to a MacBook, and AppleTV.
I'd like iTunes to just manage my music library, regardless of size. One would expect that original function to work by version 7.

Reformatted my HD and now my games are gone.

So I had to reinstall itunes and all that and now all of my purchased games have gone away! all my saved progress and that too I tried to log into the store and "report a problem" but that was over 3 days ago and still no response! how can i get my games back onto my ipod!??

In iTunes 7 & 8 they are listed under Applications, not Games.
Anyway - you can contact iTS support and ask for another download, they might liet you have it. THat "report a problem" through purchase history has been reported to be flaky. Use this page instead and make sure your spam filter is set to allow emails from Apple.

No, your contacts and calendars etc are not completely gone, they are still stored in your iCloud account. To put them back on your device, you need to log back into your iCloud account.
