User name with character . (dot)

Hi Experts,
In tcode SU01 we can create a user name that contains character . (dot), but is it recommended by SAP?
Thanks,
kathy

Hi,
The special character . (dot) can be used in the login Id as long as it meets the security policy for login Id's.
Please read the following for configuring security policy for login id:

Hope this helps.

  • Windows domain how to get full user name with last name.

    Hi:
I hope someone find the answer, I wrote this question before in the old forum http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5450216, but I didn't get an answer so I am migrating my question.
Is there a way to get the full user name from a windows domain? Like the one that you see in the windows start menu on the top.
I have an application that needs to print a report with the full user name with last name and everything (Example: John F. Doe, not jdoe), so they can sign above the name. Please tell me if there's an api or jar, because the only thing I can get right now is the username. One more thing, it's a stand alone java swing application.
    I will appreciate your help.

JAAS with the Windows Login Module is about as close as you can get. I don't know exactly how close that is.

How did you change your user name?
resetpassword wouldn't have done it. If you managed to create a new user, then your data is still in the old account.

  • Linking of AD User name with the ip address

    hi team,
i need your support to know about how we can establish Linking of AD User name with the ip address.???
    Regards, Ravi Kumar

    Hello,
as said before, ip addresses belong to computers and NOT to users.
Every time a computer starts it will either use a fixed ip address configured on the machine or get one from a DHCP server.
If you have the need for finding user accounts logging on to a computer you have to enable logging/auditing so that information as this are logged in the event viewer either from the DCs or the local computers.

No problem, just "deauthorize all" and then authorize the four individually. You will lose nothing - except the ability to "deauthorize all" for another year.
    Don't change your Apple ID.

  • Associating Skype's user name with the phone number!

Hello there, I always love using Skype but I haven't been using it that much recently due to the rise of other video chat apps like FaceTime. I think one of the struggles that Skype users face is the need to know their friends exact user name or email address. In my opinion, adding the ability to associate Skype user name with a phone number (like Whatsapp & FaceTime) would make it much more convenient and will help Skype to spread to more users especially with the availability on all phones OS.

    Hi jjthexer,
here, I'll throw in a frame you can use by adding the meat of the script into it:
    # The path where you store your csv file that includes the user-information
    $path = "C:\ExampleFolder\example.csv"
    # Load the Csv file into PowerShell
    $users = Import-Csv $path
    # Now do for each of those
    foreach ($User in $users)
    # Step 1: Check whether the user exists
    # Step 2: If it exists, add telephone number to AD object
You'll need to figure out how to fill out the foreach loop yourself (there are plenty of learning ressources here on technet to do so on your own), or wait until someone else cheats and tells you more ;).
Noticed that I changed the "Get-Content" into "Import-Csv"? It alters the way you receive the data. Suffice to say, Import-Csv is cooler when dealing with Csv files. Try out these two commands (after declaring the path variable to your csv file) to see the
    difference:
    (Get-Content $path)[1] | FL *
    (Import-Csv $path)[0] | FL *
Another thing you used is the add-pssnapin command. What this does is load the Quest Commands to access the Active Directory. For it to work, you need to have these installed. There is a Microsoft native command set that is available on all computers that
have an AD Management Console. Either of those will work, if you meet the stated prerequisites. Both are best placed at the head of the script. Here are the two commands again for reference:
    # Load Quest AD Cmdlets
    Add-PSSnapin quest.activeroles.admanagement
    # Load Microsoft AD Cmdlets
    Import-Module ActiveDirectory
Hopefully, that info will be of some help to you :)
    Cheers,
    Fred

To start, I know nothing about SAP integration. This has been thrown at me to try to resolve.
I need to integrate a dot net app into SAP. I need to know who the user is that is accessing my .ascx page.
    I found this:
Dim userInfo As Map = DirectCast(Request.getAttribute(PortletRequest.USER_INFO), Map)
            lblUserID.Text = DirectCast(userInfo.[get]("user.name.given"), String)
    And This:
    <portlet-app>
    <user-attribute>
    <description>User Given Name</description>
    <name>user.name.given</name>
    </user-attribute>...

    Hello Raymond,
For developing .NET applications I would recommend you to evaluate [PDK for .NET|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/dotnet?rid=/webcontent/uuid/40be5378-bfa9-2b10-399b-ba5719c0b5b8] ( Portal Development Kit for Microsoft .NET ). As a part of its installation, you get documentation integrated into Visual Studio help. It contains a set of very helpful tutorials.

    It's not being authenticated..
    getRemoteUser
public java.lang.String getRemoteUser()Returns the login of the user making this request, if the user has been authenticated, or null if the user has not been authenticated. Whether the user name is sent with each subsequent request depends on the browser and type of authentication. Same as the value of the CGI variable REMOTE_USER.
    Returns:
a String specifying the login of the user making this request, or null
I'm assuming it's because it's on your local machine..

  • Why does text field in InfoPath 2010 show user name with two commas between first name and last?

Here's the problem. I have a text field called Manager in an InfoPath 2010 form that is getting populated by a drop down field called
    Business Unit.
The Business Unit drop-down field is pulling information from
column A in a custom list via a managed data connection. The custom List has two columns:
    Title & Manager.
The Manager column in the custom list is a 'Person or Group' type column.
The Data Connection pulls both the Title, Manager
    (and ID) data.
There is a rule on the Business Unit drop-down field to change the value of the
Manager text field with the Manager data on the custom list. The rule pulls the
Manager information and filters the value to match the
Business Unit on the Data Connection with the Business Unit drop-down
    field value (Main).
The Business Unit drop-down field works great and pulls the value from the custom list, and the rule populates the Manager text field. The problem is that Manager text field shows the name as such:
[smith,, john]. Notice the two commas between the last and first name. There should only be
    one comma!
Anyone have an idea why the text field is appearing with two commas?
    Arnel

    Hi all,
I have a workaround for this. I have an InfoPath 2010 form pulling data from a SP2010 list. The user chooses a System (Business Unit) from the dropdown list and that choice auto populates the associated user (Manager) for that system. I had to
use concatenation, substring before and substring after to display the correct data.
    concat(substring-before(DisplayName, ",, "), ", ", substring-after(DisplayName, ",, "))
DisplayName is the original data for the field. I am able to cut & paste this field into the formula. Therefore, I added a few spaces to separate it from the actually formula for future use.
    Select Insert Function
    Select concat
Select the first link to double-click to insert field
    and then select Insert Function
Select the Text category and choose substring-before
Select the third link to double-click to insert field
    and then select Insert Function
Select the Text category and choose substring-after
Copy and paste your fieldname (in my case DisplayName) in the
    double-click to insert field
parts of the substring-before and substring-after links.
Delete the middle double-click to insert field link
Add quotes, spaces and commas so that they match the following format:
    concat(substring-before(DisplayName, ",, "), ", ", substring-after(DisplayName,
    Translation:
    concat(substring-before(Doe,, John, ",, "), ", ", substring-after(Doe,,
    John, ",, "))
Bring together all of the text before ",," (i.e. Doe) with ", " (comma, space) and all text after ",," (i.e. John).
    It should return
    Doe, John.
I hope this makes sense. I have these instructions with screenshots if you need them, contact me.

  • Windows user groups with # character ok?

I wanted to know if a windows user group is used in SQL server 2008R2 which contains a naming convemtion that includes the # character would operate ok within BizTalk databases.
      eg.  domain\#mg-dd-something
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

But in this context, its the backslash that is the special character. A legal identifier in SQL Server consists of alphanumeric characters + plus the characters _, #, @ and $. Of these $ can never been used initially. @ can only be used initially for variables.
    # can be used initially without restrictions except for objects in sys.objecs, where it only can be used for stored procedures and tables and for these have a special meaning. For non-object objects, # can be used freely. Underscore should never been an issue,
as it is commonly used an identifier in many languages.
    So this is legal:
create login #nisse@manpower with password ='hult'
Whether you should use it? There is certainly a bigger risk that you run into issues. Not necessarily in SQL Server itself. It could also be with other MS products or third-party software. And not forget people in your organisation who will be confused by
    it.

  • Long user name with share printers

Is there anyway we can use/see long usernames with Cups?
All of the teacher laptops have the same short name and that is all I see in Cups or OSX print management.

When you select New Message in Mail, the pane that show up includes a From address based on
the Full Name used in the Account. You can have multiple addresses for the name but you
    cannot change the name.
My guess is the only way to change the name is to create a new Account but then I don't
know how to keep it form POPPING mail.
