I hope i am not asking again this question but i haven't found a thread here is the forum,so here goes : Does user objects migrate as well using the import wizard ? if so how ? Do business query reports migrate to live office ? thanks in advance Yohab

Business Query (or Business Objects) transparent sort

We're using Business Query 6.5.1 to insert data into Excel and we've been doing for a while using a SQL 2000 database and making use of the useful 'transparent sort' feature that lets you order the query results by fields not actually in the selection.We've just started a similar project using a different database (same server) and whenever we create queries for this new database, the transparent sort button is disabled with Business Queries.The help file states: "Transparent sorts are only available if the database at your site supports them"
It's definitely the database that is preventing this - we've used the same ODBC connection, Universe etc as the other DB that does work, just changing the DB it's accessing and it doesn't work when we switch databases to our new one.Does anyone have any idea what is preventing this? User permissions/rights, collation type etc?thanksw

Thanks for your response. I am aware that BO v5 is an outdated software but my client is still using it.
I tried to replicate the BusinessQuery issue by using my citrix profile but I also got the same error whereas my colleague didn't have any BQ issues with his profile.
I assume that the citrix team had installed Business Objects v5 in shared environment on WTS long ago and all Citrix BO users will access Business query module with their own profiles. But the BOMAIN.key file didn't copied into shared folder which is under Business Objects installable folder and Citrix team had copied it at some local drive for some reason
I asked the Citrix team to copy the BOMAIN.key file to affected user profile. Waiting to hear user response on output.

Using Business Objects to query the CRMOD database

Has anybody successfully used Business Objects to query CRMOD via web services? Our BO people are trying to do this and would like to learn from other's experience.

Business query issue

Hi All,
Business Objects v517 - Business query 5.1 issue:
User will access Business query 5.1 through Citrix server via ILINK v6 page. Business query add-in is also added in excel. User will run BO reports from excel template via Business query
When user attempt to load Business query from excel via Citrix,an error message has been occuring and it is mentioned below
"Cannot access local security file. click OK to try again, or cancel to quit the application"
I guess local security file refers to BOMAIN.KEY file.
Can anyone of you all please explain what it is and how to resolve this ?

Replacement for Business Query BQAPI for Excel

Hello,
I am migrating from BusinessObjects 5.1 to Business Objects XI release 2 (Desktop inteligence 11.5.0.0).
Some users have developed solutions in 5.1 using Business Query for Excel extracting BO data directly to Excel.
Is there anything similar for Business Objects XI?.

There's no direct migration path for BQ reports to BusinessObjects XI Release 2.
Closest in intent would be the Live Office product, described here:

Error While Generating Business query in Mobile Application Studio

Hi,
I made changes to the Business query BSOPPBPQUERY according to the SAP NOTES.
Now I am trying to generate the business Query but it is giving out the error saying
Error intializing RT Generator !.RT Generator Failed for ".Error arsrep.dat is in use so Generation cannot be done
I am not a MSA Developer and have no clue regarding MAS(Mobile Application Studio)
So any one can please give me a clue regarding the issue

I made some changes to the property of the business Object BOCAPGEN in dev MAS environment and generated the application
It is working fine in Dev.
Now i want to know how to transfer the changes i Made in Mobile Applicaiton Studio to all the Mobile Cleint.
I made changes to MAS in the Test Client Assisgned to me.
I want to replicate these chages to all the Clients.
I am also having problem transporting the changes made in Dev to QA.
I created the change list in Dev and released it and assigned the Transport Number to it..
When I am trying to trasnport the transport number to QA in CRM online system it is giving out error saying "Change List is not complete in the system".
Can you give me suggestiosn how to transport the change request created in Mobile Applicaiton Studio to QA

How to get the user objects?

Dear all,
How to get all the user objects?
i am using Select * From user_objects
but it gives me some tables which belongs to oracle such as 'BIN$ZKjpvXfMSOShDJUjxzmiiw==$0' and i do not want these tables to be viewed.
is there any way to avoid those tables from the query?

Objects in the database started with "BIN$" could be the dropped objects. If you don't bother about dropped objects, then you can purge them.
SQL> connect test/test

Read group membership for a user object and populate every group with matching user from another domain

I have LON\JSmith in LON domain and DEL\JimSmith in DEL domain
I would like to extract group memberships of LON\JSmith in LON domain and append matching by email (i.e. DEL\JimSmith) user object in every group in LON domain.
for instance
LON\JSmith and DEL\JimSmith is the same person and has same email address [email protected]
LON\JSmith belongs to 3 groups - LON\localadmingroup;LON\univdesktop;LON\globalsurvey
The outcome of the script should be
LON\JSmith; DEL\JimSmith should be in 3 groups - LON\localadmingroup;LON\univdesktop;LON\globalsurvey.
How can i do it?

Please refer to the script below, to query users in other domain by specifying the parameter "-Server" in the cmdlet "get-aduser", and also note I haven't tested the script below:

Get-ADUser -filter {EmailAddress -eq $email} -properties * -server DomainB.company.com|select samaccountname, memberof}#filter user name and group with the email in other domain

Difference in the count of deleted objects in recyclebin and user objects

I m using Oracle 10G in windoes 2003 server. We queried on the recycle bin and the user objects for the deleted objects and found that the count is different. Here are the queries which i used to check.
1. select object_name from user_objects where object_name like 'BIN$%';
2. select * from recyclebin;
When i ran 1. in our user mshist and msmodel, the counts were 343 rows in mshist and 514 rows in msmodel.
when i ran 2. in our user mshist and msmodel, the counts were 353 rows in mshist and 530 rows in msmodel.
Kindly advise me why exactly is thr the difference as they both are checking the deleted objects in a schema.

New business query

Hi,
I have created a copy of Activity_Query BDoc and added one parameter and amended the where clause. Then I ran gnrwb / xml dump, BDox sych in MAS and created a new Business Query based on the new BDoc above. After that I generated the object and used it in the coding for a query. Unfortunately it does not work. When I call the method newbusinessquery("Z_ACTQuery") the query object remains on nothing.
When I test the Query in MAS I don't see a SLQ statement and I get the response "Query is empty".
Has anybody an advise?

I have been browsing through the ALI doc's however I cannot seem to find any information on the various objects that are presented in ALI.
In particular I want to find out what is being returned when I query the user object or a session etc?

Business Query designer

Hi All
I try to see Bex Queries in Business Objects Designer. Bex 7.0
Trouble : I try to click on the click box : Allow external queries in the Tab More (sorry I have them in German, so the translation is not perfect)
and the click box is greyed (disabled)
Any help will be welcomed

Thanks for your reply regarding the Business Query Designer Problem. I'm taking charge of the issue made by Vincent_BO.
I think you missunderstood our Problem.
It has nothing to do with the Language Configuration. When we create a new Query in Query Designer, it is possible to cross the Flag: "Allow External Access for this Query" under the right Panel: Options, register: advanced. ->please give me your email adress to send you the print screen of this configuration. Or is it possible to add a picture to this forum?
Now the problem is:
When we open an existing Query (from Bex) this Flag is disabled. (Please have a look on the following print screen again)
How can we enable this flag? we allready tried to copy a existing Query but the flag is still disabled. Is it possible to change this configuration directly on the database? which field in wich table would this be?

Can anyone point me at a code snippet that will grab the current users "User" object from AD?
I've found endless examples of querying LDAP using a recordset, but not using the system object model. I found it some months back but can't find it now!

Bean as User Object

Can I make bean as my user object when I use JSP calling Beans??? The scenario is as following:
I hava 2 JSP pages, name JSP_A and JSP_B. When I click submit in JSP_A, I'll call beans to do some setting and validations, and in the same time, will pass some information over to JSP_B. Upon opening JSP_B, I'll get the informations from JSP_A as well as information that get from the same beans. upon click submit in JSP_B, I'll get the validation and information from JSP_A and also call some methods in the same beans.
The rasional here is, can I store the value I get from JSP_A when it trigger method in beans and store it in some memory space, which will be retrieve or reuse later by JSP_B from the same beans?

There are multiple ways to do it. You may
- store it in a session object
- refer beans and push information from one bean into another bean
- refer beans and get information from another bean
- pass informations via parameter

E.g. the enquiry bean instanciates the list bean before the JSP is called. Thus, it sets the where condition for the query statement. The concept is to manage all beans by a session object to have access to all beans.
