User Personalization page in Portal

Can anyone let me know what is the need of keeping the
field of 'Security Policy' in the user personalization page.
What is the relevance of this field.

Hi Sid,
the security policy can be used to seperate different user types...
You have the standard user which can be used to work with the portal normally.
With the technical user it is only possible to make connection to the portal via connectors, you can't work with the portal UI then...
Inside of the personalization the filed is shown as the screen is the same WebDynpro element as the one you use to change the user - but with write rights for the end user on certain fields only.

Your query is divided into two parts.
The first part is adding new fields into existing form. This feature comes under Branding of portal. Plz use the link below understanding the same and related help :

The second part is retrieving the values from backend.Here it will be the UME database. You need to develop a logon.par file and replace the same in your portal.

Assigning a page as users home page in portals

Hi, I've created a portal page. For some users we want this to be the default page they see as soon as they login instead of the default portal homepage. How can I achieve this?

You may use either of the two ways to achieve this and both uses portal profile settings of the user. To access portal profile settings, go to Builder page/Administer tab; and use the portlet edit portal profiles.
1. one can either define a group with its default home page as this page that you created. then you can make all such users a member of that group. and now define this group in the 'portal profile' of these users.
2. or simply define this page as the default homepage of the user in the same portal user profile.
understand that this assumes that you do not want to make it the homepage for all users - or the 'global default homepage'.

Can the Portal Activity Report show unique users per page?

Hello all
I guess this is a rather simple question, but can someone tell me if the portal activity report can show a count of unique users per page per week for instance?
Or will it just show which users have visited the page in a list without aggregating them to a number? And if the users are aggregated to a number, is it only uniwue users that are counted for the given period?

How to allow user to change SAP Portal password by themselves

We would like to allow user to change SAP Portal password by themselves. However, I added role Manage_My_Password and Manage_My_Profile to a user account. After logoned with this user account and opened the option 'Personalize'. I only find the page allow me to customize the page layout. But I haven't find tab for changing profile and password.
Pls advise.

You can hide the pages from portal personalization workset. copy the workset and select the page and click on property -> select Invisible in Navigation Areas ->yes
You can find the workset under
Portal content->End user content->Standard Portal Users>Workset->Portal Personalization

Personalize Page Customization

Hello,
I am trying to have a personalize page for end users to where user could hide,show portlets and add portlets from a repository, Of course we do not wants to use the default personalize option available in Oracle Portal.
Could someone kindly help me how can I achieve this? Any API's or samples or documentation on this? I know Oracle Portal already bundled with this feature, but our organization would like to build this to get better look and feel and user friendliness.

Customize "Personalize Page" possible?

Hi all,
I have a tricky requirement.
Is it possible to alter the end-user's Personalize Page window to have it appear and function more user-friendly and more user-intuitive?
Right now the page is just an excerpt from the Content Administrator's admin screen, which works if you're an administrator used to the portal, but for end users the page might look a bit overwhelming.
Therefore I would like to have it appear more or less like Google IG, Microsoft Live, or Microsoft Web Parts.
So users just can select multiple iViews at once, or simply drag-drop iViews to the right-pane without the need for the <i>rightclick -> select 'Add iView to Page'</i> sequence.
Basically it's not the right pane I want to change, but have the left pane Content Browser changed by something more intuitive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

NOTE: The following is not a public API.
To add an iView to a page, the content catalog throws the following event:
EPCM.raiseEvent( "urn:com.sapportals.appdesigner:tab1", "addToPage", /pcd/iViews/myIview" );
Note, that generally, the page editor sends EPCM events to the content catalog to tell it what right-click menus to display. It sends out events like this:
EPCM.raiseEvent( "urn:com.sapportals.appdesigner:contentCatalog", "addContentCatalogEvent", tab1;Assign to page;addToPage;iVu" );
The parameter has 4 components:
String to be attached to urn:com.sapportals.appdesigner: to create a unique namespace
String to display to user
Event name, to through back to the page editor
Type of objects on which to display this right-click menu (I dont know what the valid values are)
Remember, these are not public events, just a description of what the appdesigner does.

Hide link "SAP Store" on personalization page?

is it possilbe to hide the link "SAP Store" on the personalization page. I don't mean the regular AJAX portal framework page. There you can uncheck the link. But is there an option to disable the link on the personalization page too, the page where you can set your portal theme and so on.

Open the content administrator and go to:
portal users --> standard portal users --> AFP Personalize Portal (its the personalize framework page).
open the framework page and open the AFP Masthead iView.
In the properties of the AFP Masthead iView you will find:
Show Link in Masthead: Enterprise Store
uncheck it.

Personalize Page Problem

Hello,
I have a personalize page which been created using pl/sql where users can drag and re-arrange portlets in the page. For some reason using when I log into to portal using PORTAL account, I cannot see all the portlets in the region, where as with ORCLADMIN and PORTAL_ADMIN I could see all the portlets to re-arrange.
What could the reason for this?

Well, it depends on the way your developpement works, but it looks like you didn't give PORTAL the same access rights to your code in your database.
BTW could you tell us a little more about how to developped this drag&drop feature and how you create your page in pl/sql. Does it contain "true" portal portlets or just some HTML/DOM boxes that look like portlets ?

How to get rid of the Login page in Portal?

I have a newly developed intranet portal project for my company which does not need login no more. I hope you can help me how to get rid of the login page in portal which is I know in every application you create, there should be a login. Is this possible that I can just simply type in to the URL address bar my application then it will no longer ask for any logins? Please help! Many thanks!

Hi Russel,
You can give public access to pages, applications etc. Users won't need to supply a username/password then, while you still can hide some of the pages to authorized people.
Check the access tab for pages and the manage tab for applications.

Sorting channels on Personalize Page

I am trying to sort channels on a Personalize page alphabetically. This is the contentedit.jsp in JSPContentContainer. Later functionality is I'd like to be able to sort by another field. The channels are aquired and placed in a java.util.List called missedChannels. I tried the method Collections.sort(missedChannels); and it is working to a certain extent to sort alphabetically, but then it is getting the channels out of order again as if things are getting out of order later in the jsp. All my channels are uncategorized so I thought that my list would not be manipulated in the code preceding the listing of the uncategorized channels, keeping them in order.

Sorry about the code post. I shouldn't have done that but too late. I solved my sort problem. I was just displaying the wrong variable, the title of the channel but it was being sorted by channel name with the Collections.sort(missedList); command, so the channels were not actually out of order at all, the titles don't always match with the channel name.
It would still be nice if I could find out how to sort the list using various criteria of string values in different fields. If someone can help with that it would be appreciated!

If you are at all interested in a 3rd party application to make your life a bit easier getting stats on your users, you could check out Click Stream by Sweetlets.
Click Stream uses the Usermanagement (UME) API to get more information about the user, groups, roles, LDAP attributes etc. and offers you the ability to filter this information in nearly any report at the click of a button.
Click Stream also uses the PCD API to get information about the pages your users are visiting too.
In the very near future Click Stream will also have iView recording to monitor iViews, telling which iViews have been clicked, etc.

Assign biz role through CRM -SU01 and display page at portal

HI, SDN Fellows.
I am creating some custom portal roles at portal and mapped it to the custom business roles for some PCUI screens at crmc_blueprint_c --> "Assign Portal Role to Single Role" ("Assignment of CRM Role to Portal Role").
Currently, our portal UME data source is mapped to CRM system.
Right now, I have to assign both the CRM Role through SU01(to have access the CRM Object Method at CRM-PCUI application) and Portal Role through User Admin of WAS/portal (to access/display the PCUI iView in the portal).
My goal is to just assign role through CRM-SU01 and achieve the same output as I described above. Meaning can I just do the role assignment for the CRM role (through SU01) and able to access to the CRM-PCUI application through portal (able to see the pcui screen)?

What I want is when I assign a role (Sales Manager) said user A in CRM system, userA should able to see the related workset/page/iviews in the portal (without the need to assign the same: Sales Manager role in portal).
Now, what I have to do is assign the related objects into a single/composite roles in CRM (for backend data access), then I have to assign a portal role (through User Admin of Portal, so that they can see the portal content),
is that a way we can do it in one step?

For that purpose I would like to change this page more or less like iGoogle.So users just can select multiple iViews at once, or simply drag-drop iViews to the right-pane without the need for the rightclick -> select 'Add iView to Page' sequence.
For achive this functionality I want to change left pane (content browser) something more intractive. I will be happy to give more information regarding this if you need.
