User profile corrupted can i recover thunderbird emails?

My user profile of my computer has been corrupted. I have had to create a new username and am currently copying all my files from the c drive of my old user profile to my new user profile. When I open mozilla thunderbird, it doesn't recognize that I have ever used it before and asks if i'd like to create a new email address. What I'd like to do is get my inbox and all folders that I had created and was using on my corrupted user profile and move them to the new user profile. Is this possible and if so, how do i do it?

corrupted how, why? more information please.

  • Can you sync thunderbird email between several computers so if you delete an email on one computer in thunderbird it also deletes it out of the other computers.

    Can you sync thunderbird email between several computers so if you delete an email on one computer in thunderbird it also deletes it out of the other computers it syncs with? I have three computers I use daily in different location and have thunderbird on each computer. I find it time consuming to have to repeatedly delete the same emails from each location. I am thinking that by leaving the emails on the server and not downloading them in each computer would solve this. Is my assumption here correct? If not? How would you set up Tbird to sync?

    If you set up your email account(s) as IMAP instead of POP3, then each computer / smart phone can view the mail, but if any of them delete a message (or move it to another folder on the server), the same action will be seen on the other computers.

  • I synced the wrong user profile, how can I switch it?

    During installation I was prompted to import a user profile and I accidently chose the wrong one. I uninstalled Firefox thinking I could correct my mistake during the next installation but it automatically used the "wrong" choice I made the first time.
    How do I correct this?
    thanks!

    You can use the Profile Manager to select another profile if you have multiple profiles.

    If you need to import data from other browsers then you can find "Import Data from Another Browser" in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)

  • Can I recover an email account?

    I accidentally deleted an email account with critical messages. HOw can I recover the account or find the emails which I assume are still available somewhere on the computer?

    Deleting a mail account causes all your mail stored in that account’s mailboxes to be removed from the computer as well, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
    Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
    This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.For IMAP-type accounts, this is not a problem because mail is stored on the server. If you deleted a POP account, however, your mail has certainly been wiped out from the computer, not just moved somewhere.
    To prevent that from happening, you should have moved your mail to custom “On My Mac” mailboxes instead of leaving it in the account’s mailboxes. Actually, using the account’s Inbox and Sent mailboxes for archiving purposes is a bad idea regardless.
    If the POP account was configured to leave the messages on the server for some time, setting up the account again would cause any messages still on the server to be downloaded again, just like for IMAP accounts, but this would only work for received mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
    If the messages are not on the server and you don’t have a backup (which you should have made before doing something like that), you may try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can currently recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • User profile corrupt-ish after mass deletion of ".plist" files

    Here's my problem:
    I had two sequential hard locks due to World of Warcraft on my Macbook Pro. After the second reboot, certain applications in the iLife suite (notably iCal and Safari) and certain 3rd party applications (such as Newsfire) would crash a few seconds after opening with an "application crashed unexpectedly" error. Note that these applications seem to respond and work fine for 3-5 seconds after launching, then crash inexplicably.
    Being a mac noob and misreading technical help, I proceeded to delete all of the .plist files from my user>library>preferences folder. The only thing this succeeded in doing is reducing my profile back to its "factory" state, loosing all system settings and preferences. Oops.
    I have verified/repaired my disk and permissions through Disk Utility and used Cocktail to clear my caches to no avail.
    Now, I would just trash this user profile for another but I have no decent way to backup my iLife content and would like to avoid having to trudge down that path if at all possible.
    I've browsed these forums for a solution, but so far fruitlessly. I'm working on a dissertation for school and desperately need a stable system to work on, so any help you guys could provide would be immensely valuable. Thanks!

    The solution was to rename my Library folder to "Library.old" -- not optimal, but it fixed the problem.

  • Can SES Index Thunderbird email files?

    Hi everyone, I'm wondering if SES can index emails in Thunderbird and if not, is there a plan to?
    Thanks!

    Thunderbirds stores its mail in
    /Users/yourname/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles
    Apple Mail stores its mail in
    /Users/yourname/Library/Mail

  • I can't recover sent emails

    When I look for emails in the "Sent" mailbox, they are all marked with a message that indicates the mailbox is overstuffed. I have reviewed a number of previous emails to try and recover them. So far I have checked the contents of Sent Messages.mbox and confirmed that it is large (over 2GB). I have moved it to the Desktop, and deleted the documents other than sent messages in that folder, copied it and then placed it in the Mailbox folder under User/Library/Mail/Mailbox then restarted Mail app. No success. I tried again, this time renaming the file Archives. There is a folder named Archives now under Mailboxes, but nothing in it. What more can I do to try and recover its contents?

  • How can I use Thunderbird email client to send photos

    Hi,
    I am having lots of problems trying to send photos PSE8 with Outlook Express and Outlook and really don't use either of them for regular email.  How can I edit the sharing "Choice" to allow Thunderbird?  Anything in the Registry to edit?  I don't want to reload XP, going back to an earlier install just to get Outlook back working.  Too many wondows updates to make sense of that.
    And if it can't be done, when will Adobe PSE8 give us a patch to add more email client choices for their user base?
    Thanks, appreciate any info you can provide.
    Swen

    Apologies. I should have said Ignore. I can't answer the question as it relates to an iPhone.

  • How can I recover my Emails and Sent Items for an Accountthat was wiped from my computer?

    I had to complete a system restore as my computer failed. This resulted in my account being wiped from the computer, alomg with any files relating to it. I have consequently downloaded Thurderbird again and reinputted my details, whih has resulted in me gaining emails for the past month. However I have not got access to the emails I received for the 6mths prior to that time, any of my sent items, or any of the sub-folders I created and their contents. If anyone has any offerings of help in recovering these I would massively appreciate it!
    Thank you,
    Ian

    what mail provider? can you still access your mail in their web mail? Do you have backups?

  • How can I recover old emails from previous versions of Apple Mail?

    I bought a new MacBook Pro Retina display in late 2013. I loaded all my applications and data from Time Machine since my old Mac had died. Unfortunately, the migration program didn't recover most of my email files. In one of the discussions here, it said this was a known problem, and I assumed my old emails were gone forever. For the most part, this wasn't a huge problem, but recently, I had cause to want maybe a dozen or so of those emails, so I went back to try to find a solution.
    I did find a discussion here that told how to locate the old mbox file in Time Machine, copy it to the desktop, then import it to Mail. I was able to recover the mbox files without any difficulty, but when I try to import them (using "Files in mbox format"), I get a message saying, "No valid mbox files were found."
    Most of the recovered mbox files are hierarchical (i.e., the mbox file shows as a folder in Mail), but I get the same message whether I try to import at the folder level or the mailbox level.
    Any ideas? Could Text read the contents of the mbox files?

    If you don't have backups, see Recovering deleted files.

  • Can i recover delete Emails ? because I need to recovers information please

    I have some information in my Email  ,, I deleted them By accident .the information is so importent for me .. it may be take me to the jail  .. i want to returns them to protect my self  please

    I am sorry for your loss, both of your wife and of the photos to remember her by.
    You should look in your deleted folder(s) and if your email provider has a web-based access (such as mail.google.com), look online in their deleted folder in the off-chance they are sill there.
    Otherwise, unless you have some backup files from that time, I can't think of anything else to do.

  • Profiles corrupt in firefox and thunderbird after restart win 7 new profiles created

    After restarting computer (Win 7 64 bit) new profiles in firefox and thunderbird created. Old profiles still there. May have been a Windows update (don't recall) at shut-down. Perhaps a clue Win 7 desktop ini file changed and this occurred: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330132
    New computer install in use 2-3 days.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == After restart

    Solution:
    The profiles.ini file had changed for both Thunderbird and Firefox.
    I manually edited both profiles.ini files and changed the profile path back to the correct profile. For example I changed :
    Path=Profiles/bbwyygfp.default
    to:
    Path=Profiles/k5adm39.default
    Would mark this as solved if I knew how.....

  • Can I recover sent emails from an iPhone 4s in my new iPhone 6

    I upgraded to a new iPhone 6 (from a 4s) yesterday and everything has transferred over pretty well.  There were some initial problems with my mail set-ups but I have re-entered passwords and can receive mail.  The question I have is whether the mail messages I sent using the iPhone 4s can be viewed in the new iPhone.  All of the  messages that were in my inboxes transferred, but the Sent Items folder only contains messages sent using the new iPhone.  Am I able to retrieve them or are they lost forever?

    Mail in Outlook the program, if accepting the defaults, should have created an Archive folder. You should find this in the folder list on left side of Outlook. If you were using a POP account, then mail sent by the phone is not synced to the folders in Outlook. This would change with an IMAP account, as explained earlier. The action you describe on the phone, where the only folder to come over from the backup being the Inbox, is POP action. The sent folder is device (actually mail client) specific. If you continue to use a POP account and want to see sent mail in both locations, you would need to set up your mail to default to sending a Bcc to yourself. That setting is available in the iPhone easily, you need to look a little closer to find it in Outlook.
