User -profile has "bad-screen-layout"

Hi,
on my Old Imac, 10.4 and now again with the conversion to my new Imac Intel 10.4.9 the user profile shows the desktop not very good. It looks just like it's over-exposed. To much contrast, white is very white and the menu isn't very good readable. There aren't much options to change. I tried all the "normal settings".
When I make a new account on my old or new Imac the desktop is shown good. Can I reset a setting so that the desktop is default again?

You may have accidentally changed a setting with a keystroke that's assigned to Universal Access. Open the System Preferences and click on the Universal Access icon. Under the Seeing tab, make sure the slider at the bottom for Enhance Contrast is all the way to the left.

  • KB3000850 Breaks Start Screen Layout Tiles

    Hi All,
    I have a problem which is a direct cause of KB3000850, this affects both 64bit and 32bit variants.
    We use GPO to apply a start screen layout xml file to our users.
    On a PC without KB3000850 it works fine, however if you install this update it breaks the layout.
    I've read online a couple of other instances of this, but no concrete fix.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Andy
    PS - incidentally, this issue is reintroduced by the December Rollup KB3013769

    Hi,
    Just in case anyone trips over this post after having this issue and not finding the answer.
    Here it is, it took a paid support call to MS but the answer is......... it's by design.
    The key part here is Windows 8.1 Professional vs Windows 8.1 Enterprise
    Prior to these updates, the policy to apply start screen layout via policy worked on Professional and Enterprise.
    The fact it did work on Processional was a BUG, it was ONLY intended to work in Enterprise.
    The update rollups fix the bug, and hence break a previously working solution for 8.1 Professional users.
    The fixes are either the workaround I noted above (copying in file) or changing to 8.1 Enterprise.
    Just an additional note on my workaround, if you are using a login script to copy the file, do it is a logoff script instead. The reason is that if you have it as a login script and a brand new user logs in, the profile creation process has a bit of a fit
    as you have copied in part of a profile, so instead of seeing the 'Hi...... We're setting things up for you.....' part, the PC just sits for about 5-10 mins and then eventually logs in.
    If you set it to a logoff script then the login processes normally, even for brand new users, and the file copies without a hitch on logoff. It takes an extra login for brand new users to see the screen layout but hey, its better than a 10min first login.
    So, no fix from MS, as the fix is the reason for the break in functionality.
    Yes, by the letter of the policy it is correct, but we have been robbed of a perfectly working piece of functionality that some people may have been using extensively.
    Thanks

  • How do I tell if a user profile is marked for deletion?

    This is likely a question with a simple answer, but searching through Google and here hasn't helped.
    How do I tell if a user profile has been marked for deletion?
    Will it appear in the "Manager User Profiles" area of the User Profile Service Application management?
    Do I need to look somewhere else?
    This is probably obvious, and I just have looking disease, but your assistance is most appreciated!

    As Paul said you can see that on UP admin page. also you can use powershell to get the list of all use in powershell.

  • Restrict data for a user profile

    Hi,
    I've made a jsp application where i implemented a users profiles for the screens, so i defined that user x can access to the jsp y in insert mode but can't access in remove mode.
    But now i need to implement a second profile that restrict the data that the user can see, like a Portuguese user can only see Portuguese citys and i don't know what is the best way of doing this, i'm using a BC4J.

    Hi,
    Not exactly sure the exact details of what you are trying to achieve, but when the user logs in you can create a session variable that can be retrieved during the user's session. You implement this by using:
    session.setAttribute(String attrname, String attr)
    Then you can retrieve the attribute at a later time. So on your jsp page (I'm not sure of your table structure) you can do something similar to this:
    <%String whereclause = "Country=" + session.getAttribute("Country");%>
    <jbo:ViewObject id="CityView" whereclause="<%=whereclause%>">
    Hope this helps....

  • Do I need all those media cache files in my user profile?

    Hello Forum,
    When I installed Win 7 and Adobe Production Premium on a 120Gig SSD, I made this mistake of not putting only the essential part of Windows on this System and Apps drive. (I have separate 1Tb HDDs for media and rendering, and work with compressed HD files).  I noticed that my user profile has grown enormous, to the point of filling up the SSD, and when I searched to see why, the main problem is a substantial accumulation of media cache files in the folder...
    user/App Data/Roaming/Common/Media Cache Files
    Judging by their names, sizes, and dates, they seem to pretty much replicate all my raw media files on my media HDD, from all the projects I've done since last summer. This folder is about 40 gigs.
    So what is the function of this media cache folder? Can I move it, or direct PP to put this stuff on some other drive than my SSD? Do I even need the contents of this folder? All my scratch files go to the F: Rendering HDD.
    Thanks.
    PS: If any of you have suggestions on how to move my user profiles off the boot/apps SSD to one of the HDDS, without reinstalling everything, I'm all ears.

    To follow up, I now see this is a product of running AME, and AME gives me options of where to put all this stuff. Can I just change those options to my F: Rendering Drive, and move the contents of this folder there?

    Hi Raghu,
    I have searched and found this information, check it may help you
    Check the SY-UNAME with the the name of the Plant
    User Plant user data take it from T001W table
    and All logon User data will be in USR02 table
    take the data from corresponding tables and check.
    If you are working in SRM
    Use FM BBP_READ_ATTRIBUTES to get the User plant after passing the User ID to the FM.
    in SUIM go to Users by Complex Selection criterion.
    In that there would be the Authorization Object..select an object which has the value plant in it and enter the value inthat....

  • Assigning Screen Layout to Screen Profile

    Hi,
    I am a RH10 user.
    I am trying to generate a help file for a specific screen (resolution).
    How do I set up RH to do this, when facing the following "predicaments":
    In the Projects Setup pod, I have defined 2 new objects:
    Screen Profile
    Screen Layout
            How do I get RH to assign one to the other?
    When I get to the generating stage, I select Multiscreen... or do I...?
    What do I do to generate a file for ONLY that specific screen?
    TIA,
    O. Goren

    Hi,
    You assign Screen Layouts to Screen Profiles during generation. (In the Single Source layout)
    In the Single Source Layout, go to the entry Screen Profiles. You can add and remove Screen Profiles. And you also select a Screen Layout for every profile there.
    If you want to generate output for only that specific screen, only add a single Screen Profile in the SSL.

  • How do I make web shortcuts into start screen tiles that can be pushed to all users profile on a computer in Windows 8.1 enterprise?

    We are trying to roll out Windows 8.1 Enterpise in our school system (K-12).
    The focus of this question is how do we take an internet web based shortcut and make it into a screen tile (on the start screen) which will appear for any user's start screen that logs on to the computer?
    The details:
    We came upon a great paper that's entitled "Customize Windows 8.1 Start Screens by Using Group Policy".
    By applying this paper we were able to accomplish our first goal: Lock down the start screen so no user could change it. We accomplished this by using the Start Screen Layout policy setting laid out in the paper.
    Our second goal: to customize the start screen is only half way met. We can set up the start screen the way we want and then export the .xml file. We are able to "reimport" the .xml file when the new user logs in. The installed programs
    will appear on the Start Screen but not the internet based web shortcuts that were on the inital setup start screen.
    (FYI - tried creating these tiles by running the start screen internet explorer app to the intended address and pinning them to the start screen. At this time trying to figure if there is a place to put desktop internet short cuts into a directory to make
    them appear on the Start Screen).
    We can see that the directory: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs is a place for program files to appear on the start screen. Is there a location web based shortcuts can be placed to cause them to automatically appear on the start
    screen for every user as well? If not how do we accomplish getting these into tiles for every user logging in?
    Sorry for the lengthy explanation. Hopefully it gets our question answered and helps others out there in the same boat!

    Karen-
    Results: Did not work. The web based shortcuts did not appear.
    Below is the steps taken with your tips incorporated. (Again it's lengthy sorry about that, but anyone can recreate what was done here. Maybe someone can see something left out by doing/reviewing it).
    Here is what was done:
    1. Installed a fresh install of Windows 8.1 enterprise on a pc. No updates were ran.
    2. During setup created the admin account.
    3. Logged into the account a simple start screen was arranged and setup by:
    Starting desktop Internet Explorer. Going to Technet's website. Clicked tools and then selecting "Add site to Apps" from the drop down menu. Went to Apps screen, right clicked and pinned it to start screen. Repeated this procedure with an
    educational web based site.
    Right clicked a few provisioned apps and unpinned them from the start screen.
    Made a few groups and labeled them. Web based shortcuts were arranged with one provisioned app in that particular group.
    4. Opened a Powershell, right clicked it and ran as administrator. Typed the following:
    export-startlayout -path C:\Users\Public\Master.xml -as xml
    (Master is the name chosen for this test .xml file and was put in a location all users would have privelages to access it).
    5. Opened the command prompt and right clicked and "ran as administrator", typed in gpedit.
    6. In the Local Group Policy under User Configuration, under Start Menu and Taskbar I choose the Start Screen Layout.
    7. Enabled the policy and typed in: C:\Users\Public\Master.xml for the Start Layout File.
    8. Opened computer management, under Local Users and Groups I chose Users, right clicked in the middle screen and created a new user called Alpha.
    9. Logged out of the inital account and logged into newly created Alpha account.
    10. When the Alpha account logged in the start screen came up with everything changed in the inital account but no web based shortcuts were found on the start screen or App view.

  • User profiles from Active directory when loggedin then userdisplay, useredit shows blank white screen in SharePoint 2013

    User profiles from Active directory when loggedin then userdisplay, useredit shows blank white screen in SharePoint 2013
    I can login with the these AD users and AD direct import is working just fine. We are not using UPS.
    With admin user when I click on the user it shows up proper data. But when I login with the same user it does not show me userdisplay/useredit and shows blank data. Also another strange thing is when I add new item in list with these AD users created by
    modified by is blank and its really strange. I checked user information list, tried to rerun user sync with direct AD import option but no success.
    MCTS Sharepoint 2010, MCAD dotnet, MCPDEA, SharePoint Lead

    Hi Amit,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the page is blank when the use accessed /_layouts/15/userdisp.aspx and the created by field was blank when the user created a new list item in SharePoint 2013.
    I tested the same scenario per your post, however I cannot reproduce your issue.
    For troubleshooting this issue, I recommend to verify the things below:
    Check the permission of the user in the corresponding site collection to see if he can access /_layouts/15/userdisp.aspx.
    Delete the user from AD and SharePoint, then re-add the user to AD and grant proper permission to the user in SharePoint to see if the issue still occurs.
    Did this issue occur with all the users? Add a new user in AD and test the same scenario.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

    Hi Ychinnari,
    I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, as
    Vaishu00547 mentioned that the issue can be caused by the Execution Account you have configured in the Reporting Services Configuration Manager is not correct, Please update the Username and Password and restart the reporting services.
    Please also find more details information about when to use the execution account, if possible,please also not specify this account:
    This account is used under special circumstances when other sources of credentials are not available:
    When the report server connects to a data source that does not require credentials. Examples of data sources that might not require credentials include XML documents and some client-side database applications.
    When the report server connects to another server to retrieve external image files or other resources that are referenced in a report.

  • Error - The registration of the service "User Profile Service" has failed. The user profile can not be loaded

    I am running an environment with an Active Directory and Terminal Servers.
    I have searched high and low for resolutions to this error but I cannot find anything related to my situation, let me explain further.
    The fixes I found are related to local users only.
    When I create a new user in the Active Directory I provide the paths to the profile folder in the "Remote Desktop Profile" and "Profile tab"  lets say for example \\ad001\home\%username% and \\ad001\profil\%username% .
    I give rights to the user to read/write the "home" folder which is mapped for folder redirection.  An I know that when the user first logs on it should create a "v2.%username%" folder upon successful logon.  This is when I am
    presented with the error message below:
    "The registration of the service "User Profile Service" has failed.
    The user profile can not be loaded"
    Does anyone have any experience with this or know a suitable fix.  Again this is for the "Roaming" profile creation no local.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    Did you receive for any one user or for all users?
    Have you tried to solve the issue by fixing the user account profile?
    For that you can adjust the registry setting “ProfileImagePath” with
    particular SID of that user under below mention path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
    Also if this can’t resolve the issue you can try to delete the SID of that user or renaming the old and and then check the result again by creating new profile for that users.
    More information.
    You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message

    Hi,
    I am working on updating picture of user profile in sharepoint 2013.
    I am getting error "exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation" while creating Thumbnail at the below line.
    "file = (SPFile)mi_CreateThumbnail.Invoke(null, new object[] { original, idealWidth, idealHeight, folder, fileName, null });"

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to update picture in user Profile.
    If we are giving an option to change the Profile picture in our custom component, we need to create 3 different files and update the reference in User Profile property.
    To create Thumbnail, we can use the code as below:
    /// Get sealed function to generate new thumbernails
    public SPFile CreateThumbnail(Bitmap original, int idealWidth, int idealHeight, SPFolder folder, string fileName)
      SPFile file = null;
      Assembly userProfilesAssembly = typeof(UserProfile).Assembly;
    Type userProfilePhotosType = userProfilesAssembly.GetType("Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserProfilePhotos");
      MethodInfo [] mi_methods = userProfilePhotosType.GetMethods(BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Static);
      MethodInfo mi_CreateThumbnail = mi_methods[0];
      if (mi_CreateThumbnail != null)
        file = (SPFile)mi_CreateThumbnail.Invoke(null, new object[] { original, idealWidth, idealHeight, folder, fileName, null });
      return file;
    Then we can invoke the method as below:
    using (MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(buffer))
    using (Bitmap bitmap = new Bitmap(stream, true))
    CreateThumbnail(bitmap, largeThumbnailSize, largeThumbnailSize, subfolderForPictures, accountName + "_LThumb.jpg");
    CreateThumbnail(bitmap, mediumThumbnailSize, mediumThumbnailSize, subfolderForPictures, accountName + "_MThumb.jpg");
    CreateThumbnail(bitmap, smallThumbnailSize, smallThumbnailSize, subfolderForPictures, accountName + "_SThumb.jpg");

  • The report has user profile dependencies when enabling caching.

    Hi,
    Using SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 R2.
    I am getting the error in the subject trying to cache a report, I see that this is described here
    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/e2ce8dd0-17db-47de-b13e-3574cc9d536f
    But, how does this solve my problem?  I still want to use the user as a parameter filter so surely returning a default user as part of the error handling will just give every user the data for that hardcoded user when the report is run?
    Sorry for my confusion
    Many thanks

    Hi ReportCreator,
    When we use the User!UserID to filter the data at runtime, the system tries to evaluate the User during Cache Load. At cache time report processing does not have access to the user profile information. Any expression like User!... will cause “has user profile
    dependencies” error.
    Just as Jerry said, we can write custom code to call the User!UserID in your report to get rid of the UserID during the Caching Operation. Please note that we should use a valid filter instead of "System" like shown in the code to the filter the user.
    If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask.

    Hi,
    use the PARAMETER-ID clausole of the PARAMETERS / SELECT-OPTIONS instructions.
    See help for more informations.
    You have to know the parameter id of the field and also the parameters, must be tight to the right data element (example : parameters : p_mara like mara-matnr and NOT parameters : p_mara(18) ).
    Otherwise, use "get parameter id" in the initialization event to populate the selection screen.
