Though the report is created, I am not sure if I can control the printer page setting for MS Excel. Kindly let me know if its possible. If so, how can it be done? its kind of urgent.

  • Preview Default Print Setting "Fit to Page" Problem

Preview.app in Snow Leopard has removed the option to print without scaling, and recreating this behaviour with the remaining options is quite complex and requires 4 extra steps.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Open a document in Preview.app, such as a PDF, of a known paper size.
    2. Select 'File' > 'Print…'
    3. Change the paper size to one where the default scale value with the default 'Scale to Fit:' 'Print Entire Image' is not 100%. This step is often unnecessary, as many documents will require reduction to include margins, even if the paper sizes match.
    4. Select 'Scale:'
    5. Select the scale % value.
    6. Delete the scale value.
    7. Input '100' in the scale value box using the keyboard.
    8. Press tab to avoid radar #7256827.
    9. Click 'Print'
    Expected Results:
Click on a single option to print at 100%, if by chance that wasn't the default option. This would have been one step.
    Actual Results:
Does what it says. Steps 4 through 8 are necessary to print at 100% in most cases.
    Regression:
This behaviour was as expected in OS X 10.5.x and previous versions, or we wouldn't be having this discussion.
    Notes:
Printing at 100% is the only scaling that is common enough to warrant a button to make it an easy one to get to. Preview.app itself even has an 'Actual Size' toolbar button, but has removed this function for printing.
Graphic designers (and other professionals) or specific applications (such as printing on pre-cut or pre-printed paper, labels, or DVDs) can commonly require printing at 100%, and using PDF to distribute documents makes Preview.app the most logical choice for many printing jobs.
Having something other than 100% as a default can cause expensive media to be ruined by a mis-scaled printout, unless these 4 (+1) steps are followed every time.
Most other apps, including Safari, Mail.app and TextEdit default to no scaling, making Preview.app an exception.
I am an architect and this is really annoying!
    Does anyone know a workaround?

    Sorry no workaround as yet...
I too am now sick of the amount of expensive paper I have wasted due to the Preview app default print setting of 'Scale to fit'.
    - No option to print at 100%, you have to manually input this information.
    - No way to change this default in preferences, you can change the opening viewing size of a doc to 100% though.
    - Doesn't remember the previous settings if you decide to reopen the doc and print another copy.
I also found that if I attempted to print an A4 doc with bleed and crop marks, it would set the default paper size to A4 and the annoying scale to fit would be set to 83%. If I then changed the scale by typing in 100% but don't hit enter for fear of the print starting and then simply use the drop down to change the paper to A3 and then change the orientation and then hit enter it ignores that you have changed the scale and prints your doc at 83% on A3 - Brilliant!
It's a shame to say that I will be going back to acrobat for pdfs!
If you can't put a 100% scale radio button on the print dialogue box either allow people to change the default in prefs or even better allow the presets to control paper size and scale of printing!

  • How can I set the default print settings of my document as color.  I want the default print setting to be color when someone opens a document.  similar to duplex print preset is there a color print preset?

How can I set the default print settings of my document as color.  I want the default print setting to be color when someone opens a document.  similar to duplex print preset is there a color print preset?

    Hi,
Try saving your settings as a Preset by clicking the Preset drop down and then select Save Current Settings as a Preset.
Next try changing the settings by selecting the saved preset.
That allow saving the settings for a specific printer, I assume it may also allow selecting these settings for another printer.

  • Default printer setting for users

    Hi,
    We have a requirement.
User wants to get the print out at his own desk.
Can we set up like the print out should go to the printer assigned to perticular user who execute the transaction.
If user X is assigned to printer 123. and Y is to 456. the printer should default when he trying to process output (Logical destination). I tried maintaining Output type print parameters as USER PARAMETERS. and  a printer is assigned to users own data SU3. but still system is asking for output device to assign while processing.
    Thanks,
    Anand K

O/P is ZF12 and it is for printing Shippment TAG, in T code VT01N.
But i feel the solution might be general not specific to output type. any way it is not a standard form.
Can we create new condition record using Output device from SU3.
If it is possible also is there any other method to achieve this.
    Thank you,
    Anand K

  • Where is Acrobat Reader 7.0 (Linux) default printer setting saved?

    I have a GNU/Linux based system with Firefox/Acrobat Reader v7.0 plugin installed.
I need to set a specific printer for the Reader plugin to use prior to starting the browser.
In AcrobatReader version 5.x, I modified the file 'AcroRead' which contained the line "*lprCommand:/usr/bin/lpr" and added a '-P Queuename'.
Is there an equivelent to this in the Reader7.0 environment?
    TIA,
    Tom

    Unfortunately, that doesn't cover requirements.
This is an environment where I need to configure the printer for the user every time prior to starting the browser. The users are on a thin client; when the client reboots (nightly) any saved configuration is wiped out.
I need to set the 'user defaults' for each user, on each workstation, every time the software (Firefox, Acrobat Reader, etc) is launched.
The defaults are not stored on the client system -- they are saved on a network accessible server. Using a shell script, a base configuration downloaded from the network server, and based on various criteria, (location, username, client ID, ... ), various defaults get set every time the workstation boots.

  • Laserjet Pro P1606dn running on a dell using XP Pro won't hold the default printer setting

    Laserjet Pro P1606dn printer

set it as the default printer but that setting keeps changing
    How to fix this?
    thanks

Yes, you need your own copy of WinXP (I used the one that came with VPC) but I'm afraid I have some good news/bad news to report. The good news is that WinXP does run a bit faster than VPC did on my dual processor G4 - the bad news is that XPs hardware detection DOES NOT - and I could find no way t force it - to recognize any USB or Firewire devices. Because I use Windows primarily to connect to USB GPS devices, this was a real letdown (and would be to users who need to, oh, I don't know, PRINT from Windows).
I'd love to hear from anyone has Windows actually functioning under OpenOSX Wintel - the website only goes as far a getting it to install and running Explorer (which I was able to do). I also had numerous keyboard problems: sometimes Windows would accept no input from the keyboard, sometimes it would reverse the caps lock key (on produced lowercase letters, off all uppercase). It also does not recognize the Apple Mighty Mouse as a two-button mouse. A number of these problems were - somehow - fixed by VPC which I never had a problem with when it came to USB devices (at least it DOES recognize a 'network card' and I can use Internet Explorer - whoopee!).
I'm going to play with this some more before throwing in the towel but I'm not so certain that I'm going to work towards the dual boot solution until I hear that Windows and Windows apps actually function - like being able to print or recognize a USB device.
Just getting Windows to install and run is of little good if it doesn't actually provide simple functionality.
I may copy and paste my original post in the Windows compatibility forum - see if any of those folks have found a working solution,

  • Default printer setting

I have a Canon printer set up as the default printer on my Mac. I also have a Dymo label printer that I use occasionally.Althought the Canon printer is the default printer whenever I choose to print from the Dymo printer (using the printer dialogue box - not changing any default settings) the computer never defaults back to the Canon printer. The next time I print, I must remember to open the dialogue box and change it back to the Canon. I usually forget and end up running out a bunch of expensive labels as the computer trys to print a document to the label printer.
Is there another setting that actually makes the computer default back to the default printer after a certain period of time?
I am using Mac OS 10.7.4 and have the latest firmware and software updates for both printers.

Before I print anything I have a question. When
printing and selecting a printer does if no printer
is selected does it take the default printer from the
computer being used? Depends on the application.
Some desktop apps allow you to choose from among all the printers installed on the client machine.
This assumes that you have a printer installed on the computer in question. Do you? One is designated as the default. If the app doesn't prompt you, chances are good that it's using the default. (But it's not guaranteed.)
    Our office has over 200
printers and unfortunately this is the first time we
have had to print anything. Typically it is
    paperless. Thanks for the help
E.C.I'll assume these are networked printers and not attached locally to a particular machine. Did you add the printer you wanted by searching on the network for a shared server?
200 printers in a paperless office? That's a lot of equipment sitting around doing nothing.
What operating system are you talking about?
What does any of this have to do with Java?

  • Default Printer setting for 2600n causing spinning flashing cirlce cursor in MS Word 2007

Printer drivers for HP2600n are causing spinning and blinking curor in MS Word 2007.  I couldn't print in IE9 due to script errors.  HP Help said to uninstall and reinstall printer.  After reinstalling, I can print in IE9, but now MSWord 2007 has a blinking, spinning, flashing circle on top of the curor.  It's maddening and I can't edit.  I've run all the "fixes" for MS and Word to no avail.
I've scoured the web to find it's the "default printer" causing the problems.  I had to delect the HP as default, and then the spinning circle goes away.   But... when I manually select the HP to print within a Word doc, it re-activites the crazy cursor and I must close the doc.
    I'm using 32bit Vista, Windows Office 2007, IE9, HP 2600n
Do you have a fix or a patch?  Many thanks to a kind person for a solution!

  • Set Default Printer based on user setting using Powershell script

    Hi
I would like to create a script that runs on user log off and captures the default printer (set manually by the user) and then another script to reapply the settings (saved upon log off) when the user logs back in.
This is because local printers are set as default printer (PDF Creator Programs) when we all use Network Printers so this means a user has to set default printer to the network printer all the time.
I have found this script to start with:
    $Printer = Get-WmiObject -namespace root\cimv2 -Query “select * from Win32_Printer Where Default = TRUE” -Impersonation 3 | select name | out-file C:\temp\Printer.txt
But the out file looks like this:
    name
    \\PrinterserverName\Accounts01
Which I dont see how it can be used on another script plus there are spaces after\Account01
    Any Ideas please?

    Maelito

    Hi Maelito,
According to your description, you want to export the default printer name to text file, then read this printer name from text file and set the default printer via Powershell:
#save printer name to text file
    Get-WmiObject -namespace root\cimv2 -Query “select * from Win32_Printer Where Default = TRUE” -Impersonation 3 | select -ExpandProperty name | out-file C:\temp\Printer.txt
    # read printer name from text file and set default printer
    $name=get-content C:\temp\Printer.txt
    (Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Printer -Filter "Name='$name'").SetDefaultPrinter()
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.

  • Setting Default Printer via GPP

We have several PC Labs for our Students, and normally we have 2 printers per lab.  We would like to have half of the lab printing to one printer and the other half of the lab printing to the other printer.  I have been successful in deploying
the correct printer to the PC's, but cannot seem to get the Default Printer set.
I created 2 Computer Groups for the Labs, then used Item level Targeting to determine which group gets which printer.  Regardless of where I set the Default Printer - either as part of the Computer Group Policy (Under User Configuration) or as part
of the Students' Default Login policy - the printers still do not set as Default.
I'm fairly new to GPO and GPP creation, so I could use all the help I can get.
    Thanks

  • Can Firefox be set to use the system default printer?

I would really like it of Firefox would use the system default printer set in the control panel, similar to the way office programs do. Is there no setting in about:config to do this? Or an add-on perhaps?

I really, really wish Firefox would change this, but I did find one thing.
    In about:config I set:
    print.print_printer to null
    print.save_print_settings to false
Now it seems to use the system default. And it doesn't remember any changes with in a session, or from one session to the next. It always uses the system default printer.
I realize different people have different preferences. But on my system the default printer changes automatically depending on what wireless network I'm on at the moment. I wanted Firefox to reflect that.

  • Assigning Default Printer to User

    Greetings;
My apologies for the double posting, my previous posting was labeled "adding printers", a matter I eventually solved.
I am trying to determine how I can recreate what in NIS was printers.conf / printers.conf.byname.
The former NIS map was a map which contained one pair per line, "username printerA", for instance:
    smith hp001
    jones hp002
    taylor hp001
I had a simple script, that upon login, read this printer from the NIS map, and assigned it as that users default printer.
I am at a loss as to how to assign default printers to users, or how to import (ldapaddent fails) this map, or perhaps just create a new database that can be inserted into my DIT?
Is their someplace within DSCC that can do this?
    Thank you.

    Hello Tison,
we're using also the WF-BATCH user having no default printer assigned and it works fine with the final release.
However, there's usually the output message NEU with a prerequesite maintained that the PO has to be finally released. So this way there can be an additional output message found upon releasing. But we have a printer assigned using the condition records and we're not using the type that you've specified.
So I'd guess that, indeed, the problem lies within the message. You could copy the WF-BATCH user to a dialog user and release the purchase order in dialog and see what happends.
    With the very best wishes,
       Florin
