Where/How can I download a User's Manual in .pdf format for my new Droid Maxx?  Before, I was able to get equipment manuals from my account homepage.  However, I haven't seen that link in a week.

I can understand the need to quickly reply to text messages without having to type the entire message.  The Motorola Droid Maxx comes with a feature called "Motorola Assist" that allows you to perform these tasks.  See more details on page 22 in the Device User Manual here: http://vz.to/1wW6P3B.

  • Droid Maxx apps constantly crashing lately - what's going on?

For the past week or so, my Droid Maxx apps are crashing all the time.  The one that really kills me is the Contacts app because so many other apps rely on it.  As far as I know there have been no ANdroid updates to this phone in a month or more.  And I haven't installed anything new to cause this.
I saw others complaining of the same thing in other threads.  What's going on?
Is it a Droid Maxx thing or an Android 4.4.4 KitKat thing?
Whatever is causing it, it's making the phone almost unusable at times and I'm sick of rebooting it.  Also, the Volume key is getting stuck in the loudest position at times too recently.  When my phone rings at work, it causes an issue sometimes.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

Latest update:  Had to manually get phone to re-boot after sitting on the "Erasing Files..." screen for over 15 minutes.
Once re-booted, the Conatcs app crashed again - "Contacts has stopped" is the error message and your only option is to hit OK.  Why is it not asking me if I want to send an error report which usually happens when an app crashes or freezes?
Decided to try changing the default contacts shown in the Contacts app.  I then changed it to use Brewster contacts.  App did not crash or stop again for a few hours.  Then it started crashing again and now it's the default or most common behavior again.
Can any of the Vzw folks or other community users help or offer some advice?  I seem to be at a dead-end....
    Thanks.

  • Compatible chargers for Droid Maxx?

I've seen warnings that I should only use the charger that came in the box with the Droid Maxx. I'd like to know what specs I should look for when purchasing additional wall chargers and/or car chargers. I've heard that using the wrong type of charger can actually damage the battery. Is that true or will it just not charge it as fast? I have several chargers from my Droid Bionic I'd like to be able to use if possible, but I love the battery life on my new phone and don't want to damage it. Thanks!

As long as the charger fits your phone, you are fine. Personally, I use a charger that I bought off of Amazon.com (it says Amazon.com on the charger itself) because the wire was much longer than the stock charger my Droid came with. I have used this same charger for 3 Droids now, and it works wonderfully.
The user's manual tells you to use the charger that the phone came with in order to avoid any liability issues should you choose to go jamming the wrong charger in the phone. It's basically just to cover themselves. But you can indeed use after-market chargers that fit the charging port for your Droid.

    Interesting post, I enjoyed it.
However, keep in mind, Arch is not Fedora. It is not Red-Hat-esque, not newbie-friendly, nor will it ever aim to be so.
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/The_Arch_Way
The way Arch does things is different in that it strives to use the most elegant and simple methodology. Note that simple does not mean "user-friendly", it means just that, simple. System configuration is left entirely up to the user. There are no GUI configuration tools; system resource controls are handled through configuration files and from the command line. This is unlikely to change.
What you may see as unfinished or raw, is actually the way Arch devs and users prefer the system to be, so your assumption that Arch has not reached version 1.0 is not quite accurate in this sense.
"It is what you make it." In other words, you build it, but it won't hold your hand along the way.
Take advantage of the excellent documentation in the wiki (especially the beginner's guide) and the community. When you adopt the Arch way of doing things, I am sure your C+ rating will go up, as you will have gained the knowledge of how truly elegant and powerful Arch can be.
    Welcome to Arch!

  • Pre Installed Apps on Droid Maxx

I currently use a Droid 2.  One of the issues I face is a number of pre-installed apps which I don't want, yet keep sending me alerts a few times per week looking to update them.  Of course, to update them, I must sign up for services that I don't want or need.
I would like to upgrade to the Droid Maxx.  However, since this issue is really bugging me, I think it would be fair to ask what apps come pre-installed on the phone.  And among those apps, which cannot be deleted if I wish to?  Can someone tell me which apps are pre-installed yet cannot be deleted?  Especially those that will continually bother me about adding unwanted services?
I figure that if I am going to upgrade, it be to a phone that doesn't nag me all the time.
    Bryan

The MAXX came with many pre-installed apps, but not the ones you have mentioned. Cloud is on mine, but I never use it, and it's never bothered me to do anything with it. The pre-installed apps on the MAXX are:
    1. Amazon.com
    2. Amazon Kindle
    3. Amazon MP3
    4. Amazon Apps
    5. Motorola Assist
    6. Audible
    7. Calculator
    8. Calendar
    9. Caller Name and ID (useless app which you can opt out of)
    10. Camera
    11. Chrome
    12. Clock
    13. Double Twist (media player)
    14. Downloads
    15. Email
    16. Emergency Alerts
    17. G+ Photos
    18. Gallery
    19. Google
    20. Google Settings
    21. Google+
    22. Hangouts
    23. Help
    24. IMDb
    25. Ingress
    26. Local
    27. Google Maps
    28. Messaging
    29. Migrate
    30. Mobile Hotspot
    31. Movie Studio
    32. My Verizon Mobile
    33. Navigation
    34. NFL Mobile
    35. People
    36. Phone
    37. Play Books
    38. Play Magazines
    39. Play Movies & TV
    40. Play Music (you get All Access free for 6 months for buying a phone from the new Droid lineup)
    41. Play Store
    42. Setup Wizard
    43. Google Translate
    44. Verizon Tones
    45. Viewdini
    46. Voice Search
    47. Voicemail
    48. VZ Navigator
    49. VZ Security
    50. YouTube
Out of these 50 pre-installed apps, not one has bugged me yet. You can always "Disable" pre-installed apps by going to Settings / Apps / (choose app) / Disable.
Better than that, if you want to keep the app, but never be updated, Go to Settings / Active Notifications / Manage Notification Types. You can manually select which apps you would like to notify you, and which ones you would rather just sit there and look pretty. You can also hide notification details when using PIN or password lock. You can also select to have the phone sleep at night (silence notifications) so nothing will bother you while you sleep.
If you're worried about your location access, you're kinda out of luck in today's world. All smartphones are GPS-equipped. If you are downloading an app which requires "Full Network Access", decide whether or not this app really DOES need full network access. Say it's Weatherbug, for instance...Weatherbug's developers are trustworthy, and the app uses your location information to give you accurate weather forecasts. Now say you're downloading an app that provides wallpapers. This type of app seriously doesn't need full network access to function, so it would be up to you at that point whether or not you trust the developer.
    Hope this helped!

  • I just got a droid MAXX and I'm not receiving texts from iPhones.

ok so i just switched from an iphone after having 2 for 4 years and i got a motorola droid maxx 2 days ago. i am not receiving texts from iphone users and i dont know why. i gave verizon my phone and so i cant turn off imessage but i cleared the phone before i gave it to them. i have also changed my apple i.d. and i have deactivated all my products such as my mac book pro and my two previous iphones. this is exactly why i switched because apple has to be a CULT and make everything so complicated. please help me solve apples stupidity.

That was a asinine and catty response.  I and many others have the same problem.  turning off imessage is not an effective solution.  I have turned off imessage, deactivated the phone with apple and wiped the phone clean.  the problem persists.

I have upgraded Apple Aperture from version 2 to version 3 and I'm having a problem with the "Highlights and Shadows" adjustment. According to the user's manual, I should have access to an advanced disclosure triangle which would allow me to adjust mid contrast, colour, radius, high tonal width and low tonal width.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to access this advanced section, I'd be most grateful.

    Hi David-
The advanced adjustments in the Highlights & Shadows tool were combined into the "Mid Contrast" slider in Aperture 3.3 and later. If you have any images in your library that were processed in a version of Aperture before 3.3, there will be an Upgrade button in the Highlights & Shadows tool in the upper right, and the controls you asked about under the Advanced section. Clicking the Upgrade button will re-render the photo using the new version of Highlights & Shadows, and the Advanced section will be replaced with the new Mid Contrast slider. With the new version from 3.3 you probably don't need the Advanced slider, but if you want to use the older version you can download it from this page:

  • Can't download apps to my Motorola Droid Maxx

Motorola Droid Maxx, Android version 4.4.
I've never been able to download apps to this phone. I go to the
Google Play Store and go through the process of downloading apps, and after
clicking Install, I get a message stating "Congratulations
<app_name> will be installed on your device soon." Then I click the
OK button, but the apps NEVER install. In fact, when I go to Settings ->
Apps and view the Downloaded tab, it displays this message: "No apps
downloaded yet." I've tried to download several apps in the 9 months that I've
owned this phone, and this is always what happens.
My Google account is setup on this phone, and I'm receiving gmail via the gmail app on this phone.
I've removed and reinstalled the SIM card, and cycled the power on the phone,
but nothing changes. What am I missing?
    Jeff

try to do it from a pc. go to the play store on a web browser and sign in with your google account. select an app and then choose install. if you're signed in there and your phone is signed in with the same google account, then it should bring up permissions and show you where you select which device to install it too. if it works, you'll at least know that the issue isn't with your google account and you'll have a temporary fix and way to get apps. if it doesn't work or your phone doesn't show up as a device to install to, then i suspect the issue is with your google account. if it works, it will show up on your phone immediately.

  • How about a @#$#% User's Manual?!?!?!?!?

I'm really sick of this.  Every time I have the simplest little question--one that, in any well-supported software program, I could answer for myself in thirty seconds by searching the user's manual--I wind up on one of these forums, where some snarky Muse employee yells at me for being on the wrong forum for the question I have.  News flash:  I'm on this forum because this is the forum Muse itself sent me to.  I really would prefer not to be on any forum, but there doesn't seem to be another option.  (Second news flash:  many of us paid what is for us a boatload of money for Muse, in part because it's supposed to be easier for non-wonks to use, so it might be better if Muse employees were not so quick to yell at or insult their customers because they're not wonks.  Just because you have been living in chatrooms and forums since teething doesn't mean everyone just instinctively understands the organization and etiquette of these things.)  The thing is, I think I might end up really liking Muse if it were not so insanely complicated to get the answer to even the simplest question.  And please, please, don't suggest I look for a video tutorial.  Those are great for generally learning the program, but they're a gigantic waste of time as a way to quickly get a simple answer.  (In other words, they're great if your question is "how can I take full advantage of social media in designing my site?" but they're terrible if your question is "how do I make a paragraph of text that indents the first line like in a book?")  So, if, in fact, I have actually found myself in the forum for suggesting new features for Muse (that's where I was trying to go, but I can't tell if it's where I am), then my suggestion for a new feature is a user's manual.

I'm trying to use hangouts for SMS on my Verizon Droid Maxx but the message "Can't compose. No default SMS app." displays when I try to compose (+") a new message, even though the top of the screen says that "Hangouts is your SMS app".  What do I need to do?

        Good Afternoon, dgcaskey,
I love my Hangouts application. Let's see if we can get this up and running for you. Have you been able to use this application before? Or did you just installed this app onto your phone? Have you been able to delete the application off the phone and redownload it? When you receive a text message does it come in through the Hangouts app or the normal stocked application that is on the phone? Please keep us posted.
