Im not usuing any bogus buggy software or anything , just normal user configs.. but everytime it shuts down , restarts.. I have a fresh user interface and nothing is saved! its getting to be a pain , so if you read this please.. let me know if you can help.

  • ColdFusion Builder 3 Settings Reset on Restart

I've downloaded the ColdFusion Builder 3 trial and am experiencing some odd and very annoying behavior.
I've customized some code editor text font and color settings. I've added an entry to the CF Servers panel for an instance of ColdFusion 10 running inside a VMWare virtual server on my laptop.
When I restart Eclipse, all the code customizations I've made are reverted back to the default install settings and the entry in my CF Servers panel is gone.
I've been an IntelliJ user for well over a year, but in doing much more cfscript-based development the CF Plugin for IntelliJ is proving to be a hindrance so I thought I'd give CFB 3 a try and see if there were any improvements over CFB 2. However, I can't take this kind of behavior. Hopefully someone can give me a setting or someone else has seen this before and can give me an idea of where to start looking.
I have CF Builder installed as a plugin into Eclipse Kepler 64-bit for Mac. I added the CF Builder update site and have updated to CF Builder 3.0.0.290000. I also previously installed as the standalone version with no additional plugins and experienced the same behavior.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Milan...
My apologies for taking so long to get back to this. I just did some testing tonight of your instructions as well as those by Kaif above.
Firstly, I installed ColdFusion 10 locally on my Mac. I added the local server to the CF Servers panel successfully. After restarting Eclipse, the localhost entry remained in the CF Server panel.
Secondly, I followed your instructions to make a new profile and make my font/coloring customizations in it. I restarted Eclipse and my font and color selections were maintained (through 3 restarts). I noted that my newly created profile was selected in Preferences after each restart.
I then added a remote CF 10 server to the CF Servers panel successfully (as noted by the panel telling me that the server was running and being able to launch the CF Admin from within Eclipse). At this point there were 2 entries in my CF Server panel--localhost and the one remote server that lives inside my VM. I restarted Eclipse and when it came back up, only the localhost server remained. I might add that the VM has ColdFusion 10 installed in "multi-instance" mode and that the remote server instance that I added to the CF Servers panel was one of 4 CF instances configured and running inside the VM.
All the while, my font and color customizations have remained the way I set them.
So, it appears as though we're down to just one bug relating to remote server registrations in the CF Servers panel.
I saw that another user was reporting something similar in this thread: ColdFusion Builder 3 RDS and Remove Server settings reset on each restart so apparently it's not just me.
Thanks to you and everyone else for all the ideas and troubleshooting help thus far. At least at this point I think I might be able to use this for day-to-day coding, even though I really want the remote server system to work correctly so I can use the step debugger feature again.

  • User settings reset and locked out of user folders ! How do I retreive?

    Hi everyone,
I'm sure a number of people here on the forums have come across the problem with the blue tint that appears every now and then. It usually appears when connecting an external monitor after the you come back from the screen saver.
Yesterday it happened for the first time without an external monitor connected. I have found a number of sites that have suggested using the command 'sudo chmod 664 *' within the Terminal. I have used it a couple of times to fix this problem but it did not work hence the reason it happened yesterday without a monitor connected. When I did use this command previously I first entered
    cd /library/colorsync/profiles/display
When i did it for this occassion i forgot to enter the display folder first.
After this I did a restart and all my user settings were reset and I was locked out of all my user folders. I lost all my desktop settings and everything was back to when I first started my computer.
I did some hunting and found the command 'sudo chmod 777'. I tried this then did a reset and my desktop background returned and the folders were unlocked.
What I want to know is if this is the correct command to bring everything back to normal?
My user permissions in terminal are listed below
Using the command sudo chmod 664 *

    Does this look correct ??
Any help would be great thanks

I assume this access is open to everyone when I connecto any wireless network
No necessarily, it depends whether you just changed your home folders and nothing else.
But just your home folders present a problems as they should have extended attributes which are now removed. More on that later.
Using one chmod to a directory affects all equally, though the files may have individually different permissions.
I don't know how extensively you have altered the modes permissions, but from what you have shown in your first post your Home folders are incorrect.
For your home folder, which is the default location when you start Terminal, and I dont think you have strayed from there, all the listings, except Parallels are folders, prefaced with the letter d. for folder.
On my machine, for example, the pattern for the home folders all show
    drwx------@ 5 xxxxxx staff 170 25 Jun 06:07 Desktop
normally that would be chmod 700 Desktop which will get you
    drwx------
but note the @ which shows an extended attribute or ACL in Leopard.
to write the ACL shown as @
    You will need to read
man chmod about ACL MANIPULATION OPTIONS
Personally, I think that playing around with chmod without a backup was not a good idea, and I wonder if your ambition has exceeded your knowledge. Sorry if that sounds tough, but a possible Archive and Install may be your safest path I think because what you have messed with was no small oops with a simple fix.
You could just change those home folders to chmod 700 and see how it goes without the attribute, or bite the bullet and do an Archive and Install.
I do not run parallels and so have no idea what is permissions should be.
That Time capsule is starting to look pretty good now

  • User Settings Reset

    Hello!
Tonight, I noticed that all of a sudden my menu bar had reset itself to "transparent…"
After a restart, I noticed that ALL my user settings had reset to Apple base defaults — default dock, default appearance settings, etc. I tried a second restart, but nothing changed.
    Suggestions?

    HI Daniel,
Might be a good time to boot from your install disk and check the start up disk.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
When you are finished with DU, from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Startup Manager.
Select your start up disk and click Restart
While you have the Disk Utility window open, look at the bottom of the window where you see Capacity and Available. Make sure there is always 10% free disk space. Not enough disk space can cause directory corruption.

  • Instruments changed and settings reset upon opening a project

    Need some help!
I opened a project earlier today to discover that some of the instruments have changed and most of the mixer settings have reset. There's no reason as to why this happened that I can think of, and it's not an old project, I'd only started it last night and had worked on it this morning. I'm not sure what has happened but is there anyway I can get it back to the way it was? There's no way I can adjust it all back to the way it was manually as I'd designed a lot of synth.
I'm going to have a guess that my M-Audio Oxygen 61 has something to do with it as occasionally it changes some of the faders on it's own and I have to keep switching it off and on again when it stops responding. I've got the latest drivers installed from the m-audio site.
    I'm running Logic Studio 9 on a Macbook core 2 duo 2.4Ghz, 4Gb mem, 10.5.8
    Thanks

  • Preferences reset upon restart

    Hey all,
Been having some strange issues with Lion, or at least I think its Lion.. So here I am on my MacBook pro from 2010, reinstalling Snow Leopard and Lion afterwards. I install the updates and some programs (Plex, uTorrent, Chrome) only to realize that when I restart, some preferences completely ignored.. All programs added to the Dock are gone again, the assigned log-in items don't start up, iCloud was logged out again, mail settings were reset..
I reinstalled the whole thing, except for Lion, and it all worked fine. So anyway, I thought it was the laptop. Some sort of hardware problem or something, right? So I just got this new Mac mini, with Lion, and it does the same exact thing.
It doesn't remember some changes I made. I tried to repair permissions, but it doesn't do anything. Can anyone help me with this? Does anyone have seen the same problem?

Hi, I have only a tiny sub-set of these issues. But it started after I installed Lion. My issue is simply the auto-shutdown feature. I try to have this i-Mac shut down every day at 11 PM and restart at 6 AM. It worked perfectly with Snow Leopard. Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't. Some days I'll check on it early in the morning and it'll show the message that "This computer is shutting down X seconds". Today at 5 AM it was simply running with no messages, and probably had been running all night. I'd really like to get this feature to work. I've searched these boards and tried all the suggestions to no avail.

  • Resetting settings upon restart.  Keyboard won't recognize

ok so i have this problem, when i restart every time it can't seem to find my keyboard and mouse, i end up having to take they keyboard/mouse out of its original port move it to another one plug the mouse in separately and then it will recognize, then when its restarted i can put it back into the old configuration. Anyone know what the crap is going wrong?
second problem may be related, upon restart of computer i have to to reset all my preferences in system preferences. I.E. what output port for audio, turn on firewall, and others like that.
just so you know i did use the transfer wizard to transfer the applications.

ok i should have remembered about that. It seem to have fixed the remembering settings thing but now one of my usb ports stopped responding. I loaded the install cd and ran system profiler and it shows up under the install. then i restarted and now it seems to have done something because it shows up now. I don't know if it will go away if i restart though.

  • After restart, all user settings are gone and reset to defaults

Hi after waking up my iMac from sleep today, it appeared something had gone wrong (apps not responding…notification that my external drives had "not been ejected correctly" etc). I restarted. After restart, and logging back in to my regular user account, all user settings were missing and reset to factory defaults: Desktop reset to the "wave", Dock reset, Download folder missing (grey question mark), Dropbox unable to connect, Safari bookmarks missing (but still on my iPhone-- so it's a local iMac problem, not an issue with iCloud), small things like mouse scrolling prefs reset etc.
Basically all of my user preferences are missing. I've seen a number of threads about how to fix some of these items individually, but seems like there is a single corrupt preference file somewhere maybe?
I've repaired permissions a few times (there were a lot), and restarted but nothing has fixed it yet.
I had been logged out of iCloud, but once I logged back in, my Mail came back (just my me.com account-- still missing my Gmail, will need to reset I guess), along with Calendar and Contacts-- those are ok.
I keep all my files on an external LaCie RAID, and that all appears to be fine. Folders all intact etc.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks for your help!

Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

Try running this program when in your old account and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read.

  • HT204079 Notifications reset on restart. How do I get my settings to stay?

Just like the title, the settings reset after every restart. HELP!!

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

  • Settings being reset upon shuttdown

Recently (as of today) my MacBook Pro has been having issues "remembering" my settings/preferences for various applications/tools. Several miscellaneous things are being forgotten regardless of my continuous efforts to reapply them:
    View options for icons
    Background image
    iTunes Library/Playlists
    Safari/Firefox bookmarks
    Time Appearances
Widgets (it was completely reset to default)
    etc.
Right before I first encountered the problem I noticed that my dock was behaving oddly. It would not magnify upon mousover and there would be no text indicating the name highlighted application. I had shrugged it off just thinking it was momentarily glitching but upon restart all of these settings/preferences were reset.
From there, I proceeded to reapply them in hopes that this wouldnt happen again but alas it has. It is quite the annoyance.
I have FileVault running if that helps at all (I've had a few problems with this computer before because of it). Any ideas?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Hi, ness0013. Welcome to the Discussions.
    1. You wrote: "I have FileVault running if that helps at all (I've had a few problems with this computer before because of it)."Do the following in the order specified:1.1. Run at least steps 1-3 of the Procedure outlined in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. This will identify and potentially correct any general disk or permission issues.
1.2. Then follow the instructions in "Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4: FileVault - How to verify or repair a home directory image." This will either identify and fix, or rule-out, specific issues with your encrypted Home folder.2. If steps 1.1 & 1.2 above do not sort out the issue, then assure that your account is the Owner and has Access of Read & Write on the following folders:
    • Your Home > Library > Preferences folder.
    • Your Home > Library > Preferences > ByHost folder.
Open the Get Info window for each of on these folders. Check, and change if necessary, the settings for Owner and Access accordingly in the Details sub-pane of the Ownership & Permissions pane of the Get Info windows of each folders.
    3. I trust you've not tried renaming your encrypted Home folder. If so, see "Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4 or later: Return to default desktop, apparent 'loss' of home directory."
    Good luck!

  • 55WX800U Power On/Off Resets Comcast User Settings to 4:3 and 480p

When the TV is powered off, when it is turned back on the Comcast box (Motorola DCX3400) user settings gets reset to 4:3 aspect ratio and 480p display resolution. I go back through the Comcast user settings menu and set to 16:9 aspect and Native or 1080i resolution... and if the TV is turned off it will reset it everytime.
I've tried everything under the sun. If there is a setting, I've tried changing it. I also have a Denon AVR-1911 A/V Receiver. Regardless of whether the HDMI cable to the TV is routed through the receiver or direct to the TV, the same thing happens everytime. I've tried every possible combination of of enabling/disabling CEC control/RegazaLink in the TV and receiver as well. I also updated the TV firmware via USB with what is currently posted on this site. The update did go through successfully. I've also tried every combination of the order in which devices power on/off.
So I currently have to redo the user setting setup every single time I turn on the TV. It's annoying to put it mildly. Please help.

I dont see this. I have the devices (except the receiver).

  • Will the Display Menu app hold mirrored settings upon restart?

I work at a College and manage over 100 classroom computers. In each classroom the computer is connected to a projector. When we moved to Mavericks we lost the majority of display resolutions formerly available to us and unfortunately, none of the remaining resolutions match the native resolution of our projectors. We primarily set up our computers and projectors in mirrored mode.
I've been testing a couple apps that help uncover the hidden resolutions. These are: Display Menu, Display Maestro and Switch ResX. All the apps give me the resolution variety I've been looking for but only Switch ResX holds the settings I choose upon restarting the machine. Display Menu and Display Maestro are much cheaper so, I was hoping to use those if possible. Does anyone know how to get either to hold their settings upon restarting? Does anyone recommend Switch ResX ? Any other display apps I should try?
    Thank you.

Try rebooting the STB and then change the clock setting and change it back. That worked for me when i had this issue. I have seen this reported a couple of times and most of the time if this fix didnt work, the issue resolved itself within a couple of days.
Also, it should be noted that with the 1.7IMG release they changed the way the front display functioned. It now changes to show the channel number at every program change and then reverts back to showing the clock after about 2 minutes.

  • Windows 2012 RDP "resets" user settings while using Roaming Profiles

Last month we installed a RDP environment running a Windows 2012 DC and 2 Windows 2012 RDP servers. The RDP servers are running in a pool.
For the rest it's nothing fancy.
The problem is that user-settings are reset, most likely during logon. This only occurs when we use Roaming Profiles.
    - We create a new user, in a container with no GPO's attached.
    - This user gets a RP while logging on, no errors, at logoff the RP is written to it's correct folder.
    - Logging on again. Now for example I make Chrome standard browser and change the program which opens JPG files.
    - Logging off
    - I check the NTUSER.DAT in the RP folder and the changes I made can be found in the file. So it has been saved to the NTUSER.DAT.
    - Now I login again and check the settings I made. IE is standard browser again and the JPG setting is also back to standard.
    - Logging off
    - Checking the NTUSER.DAT in the RP folder and yes, everything is back to default.
Now the funny part is, when I create a user with a local profile, everything is working properly. Settings been saved.
It doesn't make a different what kind of user it is. Domain User, Domain Admin. They all have the same problems when using RP's.
No error messages in the Event Viewer.
I'm clearly unable to solve this problem. Hoping someone can help me on this one.
What makes the settings reset at logon while using Roaming Profiles?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Have you enable Cache copies option of roaming profiles?
This issue might occurs because the User Profile service does not load the terminal server roaming profile correctly after the user account password is reset.
When the Delete cache copies of roaming profiles Group Policy setting is enabled, and when a user is prompted to change the user account password, the User Profile service loads a local temporary user profile. The User Profile service loads this user profile
to perform the password reset operation. However, the profile changes to a combination of the local temporary profile and of the roaming profile after the user password is reset. Therefore, the terminal server roaming profile is not loaded correctly.
In addition, please try to delete the SID of the user from registry key and check the result. You can follow the below path.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
    More information:
You receive a "The User Profile Service failed the logon” error message
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215/en-us
Also check “User Profiles on Windows Server 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services” article.
    Hope it helps!

  • Reset ALV User settings

    Hi,
I have defined an ALV dynamicly. When I add a new column to the ALV it is not displayed. Doing right click and going to 'user settings' I see that the column is added to 'Hide column'. Changing this manually shows that the new column is presented in the ALV.
This only happend if I had once clicked the user settings and did some things and SAVED. So somewhere my user settings are stored.
    My question:
    - How can I reset my ALV user settings in webdynpro  in a way that new defined columns are directly presented ?
    - Where are these ALV user settings stored ?
    Hope you can help.

    HI John,
As sarbjeeth suggested, get the variant(personalisation info) details from the WD application wd_analyze_config_user.
Run this application and search for the variants of the component SALV_WD_TABLE(ALv component), identify your variant and note the details like config name, config variant, config type etc.
Then in the WDDOINIT , you can try deleting like this.
