User to user per ssid

Hi,
I'm having some difficulties configuring my Cisco WLC (5508) - ver 7.0.230.0 .
I'm have multiple client device residing on same vlan associated to the WLC but unable to telnet over port 8090. However, when inter-vlan, client device able to telnet over port 8090.
So in brief :
Say Machine A as application hosted machine and Machine B as client machine;
Machine A
Machine B
Telnet over port 8090 from B to A
In Vlan 6
In vlan 6
Not ok
in Vlan 6
In vlan 4
OK
inVlan 4
In vlan 6
OK
Any advice where i should be looking on the WLC to allow telnet port 8090 over from Machine A to B within the vlan .
Thanks.

nope, the ptp blocking is disabled by default and were not configuration were made. so its disable. user is still not able to telnet from device from vlan 6 to vlan 6 via port 8090. No ACL were applied. anywhere else i should look at?

  • Wireless Controller locking down User per SSID

I am using Wireless Controller 4112. We use WPA enterprise mode for authentication and encryption via Microsoft IAS server and MS AD domain.
My question is how to lock down a user to a specific SSID? I would guess that this is via some vendor specific radius attributes, am I right? And if so, what would be the name (and ID) for the attributes?
    Thanks in advance.

Making progress in setting up the wireless controller with multiple VLAN and WLAN/SSID. I create a virtaul interface at the controller and assign a VLAN number to it. The controller mgmt port is also set to a trunk port. Create a new SSID WLAN and have it mapped to the new virtual interface. Things work good.
The new problem I am trying to solve is how to prevent wired users to access the controller admin web interface via the virtual interface IP. I try create ACL and map it to the virtual interface. It doesn't seem working.

  • Can the Portal Activity Report show unique users per page?

    Hello all
I guess this is a rather simple question, but can someone tell me if the portal activity report can show a count of unique users per page per week for instance?
Or will it just show which users have visited the page in a list without aggregating them to a number? And if the users are aggregated to a number, is it only uniwue users that are counted for the given period?

    Hi sogaard,

  • Estimating number of users per instance

    hi gurus,
This is a simple but critical question for me. How to estimate number of users per instance.
example if database size is 1.2 terrabytes then how many users can we have? and how can we know the num of users for a exixting instance?
    Reddy

    Hi Reddy,
Basically it is sizing question, and it depends on the hardware you have, the performance level you expect, and how well the system is tuned...
Transaction ST07 shows how many users are currently on the system.
    Thank you,

  • How to compute maximum user per AP

    Hi Guys,
Im setting up my WLAN, im confused because i dont know how do i compute the maximum user per client per AP. Im using AP 1020 series. For example if i have 20 clients if 802.11b,c,a how's the bandwith is being affected when the number of user is increasing.
    Thanks,
    Jong

    Hi Jong,
    Here is a cisco doc that relates to this question;
    Q. How many clients can associate to the AP?
    A. The AP has the physical capacity to handle 2048 MAC addresses. However, because the AP is a shared medium and acts as a wireless hub, the performance of each user decreases as the number of users increases on an individual AP. Ideally, not more than 24 clients should associate with the AP because the throughput of the AP is reduced with each client that associates to the AP.
    From this Q&A doc;

  • How many workbooks have been visited by end users per day

    Hi SDN's,
How many workbooks have been visited by end user per day.Is there any process to knew... Do we have any T-Codes to knew...
    Thanks & Regardz,
    Aluri

    nope... unless you're in 7.0
the statistics before 7.0 only check queries... workaround would be to have a report on BW statistics filtering on the queries that are in your workbooks... that might give you an "idea", but if there people who run those queries outside of the workbook, it will "affect" your "statistics"

user02 can only see in LMS notifications from devicegroup02

Asking questions and answering by myself feels quite funny but I just wanted to let you guys know
    about the answer I found.
The answer is quite easy : ) its a NO ... there is no way for alarms and notifications per user per device.
There is a defect/enhancement open against this:
CSCub59168    RBAC has to be created for Alarms and Faults

  • Serve 500 users per minute?

    Hi,
Currently I'm looking for a solution to provide a high
performing Flash Video player. This should be a streaming video
solution to serve about 500 users per minute.
Can anybody tell me if this is possible with Flash Media
    Interactive Server or Streaming Server?
Next to that, clustering... as far as I know now, the
Interactive Server is the product that can do this and it's called
    origin/edge. Is this correct?
    Hopefully you can help me
    Thanks in advance!
    E.!

If I were you, Flash Media Interactive Server is what I would
have gone for, the reason it is scalable(it supports clustering) to
meet or exceed the 500 users /minute requirement. FMSS doesn't
    support clustering.
Edge/origin is the typical way to scale up FMS for Live as
    well as VOD usage.
However, for live stream distribution, there is another great
feature of FMS i.e. multipoint publish; which lets one FMS to
distribute its live stream to many FMS. I believe, It's worth a
    try.
    I hope this helps.

    <i><b>  Hi SDN's,</b></i>
How many workbooks have been visited by end user per day.Is there any process to knew...
    <i><b>Thanks & Regardz,
    Aluri</b></i>

    Hi Aluri,
Statistics are usually not available on workbooks. You can find out how many time a user calls up a particular query (which can be accessed by various workbooks). Because workbooks themseleves do not call up data from the infoproviders.
You can tell how many times a user has accessed a query by looking at the Statistical queries and objects. Try the following two there is a list of other queries in help that you can go through also:

  • Multiple Vlans Per SSID

    Hi
We are just putting in a new Controller - 5500 type
We are using a WCS .
Someone has raised the issue of whether we can have multiple vlans
per SSID - as otherwise we may have very large broadcast domains
due to the overall design being to have  Maybe 3 SSIDs
    Guest
    Staff
    Engineering
I think in SWAN we could get away with dynamic vlans.
We would like to have multiple vlans in each SSID to avoid the above.
Can we do this in the new setup.
    Kind Regards
    Steve

    Hi Steve,
yes it works just the same.
Enable AAA override on the controller and have interfaces configured for each vlan. Then the ACS can simply push the vlan depending on the user authentication. Users are then split in separate vlans.
Another way of doing is to group APs. You can have a group of APs serving SSID Guest in vlan 1, Employee in vlan 2 and another group of APs serving the same SSIDs but in vlan 3 and 4. It's "per-user" vlan load balancing or "geographic" vlan load balancing.
However, broadcast domains should not be a major concern in wireless as broadcasts are blocked by default. The WLC will proxy for ARP and DHCP.

    Nicolas

  • QoS Override Per-SSID Bandwith question

    Hi all,
on a WLAN there is the possibility to override the QoS Bandwidth settings.
I try to get some more information about these settings, I want to understand this. As well a customer wants to limit user data.
My question is: This override Per-SSID, are these settings on a AP basis or on the global controller basis?
The next question resulting out this will then be what if the AP is set to flex-connect with local VLAN traffic, what then?
Is there a good documentation on this?
    Thanks.

This section describes BDRL of the 7.3 release. In releases 7.2 and earlier, there is only the ability to limit the downstream throughput across an SSID and per user on the Global interface. With this new feature in the 7.3 release, rate limits can be defined on both upstream and downstream traffic, as well as on a per WLAN basis. These rate limits are individually configured. The rate limits can be configured on WLAN directly instead of QoS profiles, which will override profile values.
This new feature adds the ability to define throughput limits for users on their wireless networks with a higher granularity. This ability allows setting a priority service to a particular set of clients. A potential use case for this is in hotspot situations (coffee shops, airports, etc) where a company can offer a free low-throughput service to everyone, and charge users for a high-throughput service.
Note: The enforcement of the rate limits are done on both the controller and AP.
Rate limiting is supported for APs in Local and FlexConnect mode (both Central and Local switching).
When the controller is connected and central switching is used the controller will handle the downstream enforcement of per-client rate limit only.
The AP will always handle the enforcement of the upstream traffic and per-SSID rate limit for downstream traffic.
For the locally switched environment, both upstream and downstream rate limits will be enforced on the AP. The enforcement on the AP will take place in the dot11 driver. This is where the current classification exists.
In both directions, per-client rate limit is applied/checked first and per-SSID rate limit is applied/checked second.
The WLAN rate limiting will always supercede the Global QoS setting for WLAN and user.
Rate limiting only works for TCP and UDP traffic. Other types of traffic (IPSec, GRE, ICMP, CAPWAP, etc) cannot be limited.
Only policing is implemented in the 7.3 releases.
