User Tracking empty "UserName" field

Hi,
Does anyone know why the 'User name' column in Campus User Tracking Report is empty.
How CiscoWorks reads the UserName from Windows stations?
Thanks.

You need the utlite script to run on the users PC to make it upload the username.
It is usually made part of the login script on the DC

  • Finding username in user Tracking in Cisco works

    Hello ,
In user tracking under Campus manager, I'm getting MAC addresses , hostnames and IP address of the station and Username column is empty. How to get usernames?. From Ciscoworks manual, it says that I have to run UTLite script ?. Where I can find this script and how to run this?. Does it require to run this script only once or always ?. Does it require any configuration change on Active directory Domains side to discover the users ?.
    Thanks in advance
    Raju

  • LMS 4.2.4 User Tracking Acquisitions Info almost empty

    Hi ,
I reinstalled lms because I had problems on the server, they are now more than a month that the new use but I have trouble seeing the hosts connected to a switch or rather I see only a few. The settings are identical to the old man all by default, but with the old man had acquired many hosts. I suggested a way to make a little troubleshooting. I attach screensshot.
    Thanks Emiliano
the old had over 5000 acquisitions

When a fresh installed LMS is working properly for all the modules, like Inventory, config, fault, performance etx, it could be something on this module which is responsible for Data collection.
It doesn't have much data which can be lossed, it can be easily taken as the first step to verify and rule out any possibilites of DB not working properly.
    Also, you can share :
    NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\portsData.xml
    NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\RouterData.xml
    NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\vlanData.xml
These files have essential entries to be used by User tracking.
    -Thanks

  • Campus Manager User Tracking Report - dot1xEnabled = False

The Campus Manager User Tracking Report has the dot1xEnabled field that is always false.
It was my understanding that the switch will send SNMP Trap Notifications to Cisco Works regarding the status of 802.1x authentication per port.
    We have configured per port:
    snmp trap mac-notification added
    snmp trap mac-notification removed
    and globally
    snmp-server host x.x.x.x  abababa udp-port 1431 MAC-Notification
With no success, so we opened a TAC case, 614376387 and we were told by TAC and the Development Engineers that this "feature" does not work in LMS 3.2 and Campus Manager 5.2.1 and that this feature will be available in the next new release.
I thought I had read on this forum that some folks have this 'feature' working, where this field shows the current status of 802.1x per access port.
Has anyone been able to get this 'feature' to work?  And if so, what versions are you running and what were the 'tricks' to get it working?
    Much appreciated.

The MAC address notification traps only alert Campus to the fact that a MAC address has been learned or removed from a given port.  That starts the dynamic UT process.  With no other information, you will potentially see a new record appear in UT shortly after receiving the trap.  However, that record will not have IP or username data associated with it.
To get the IP data, Campus will poll the CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB to pull IP data.  To get username data, Campus will poll the IEEE8021-PAE-MIB of the switch to get dot1x information.  So, your switch must be configured for dot1x, and it must support this MIB (in particular, the objects dot1xAuthSessionTime, dot1xAuthSessionUserName, and dot1xPaePortCapabilities).
Without dot1x, hope is not lost.  If the end host is running Windows and the UTLite tool, then when the user logs in, UTLite should start from their logon script, and send a UDP update to Campus with the username and IP of the host.

  • Is the username field required in the URI Scheme?

The URL scheme does seem to work now just like RDP files but it does not work if I leave the username field blank.  I can enter the domain in username field but cannot get a "\" included.  I would ideally like it to be blank. Also, SSO
    does not work.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Enabling a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) scheme gives IT professionals and developers a way to integrate features of the Remote Desktop clients across platforms and enriches the user experience by allowing:
    1. Third-party applications to launch Microsoft Remote Desktop and start remote sessions with predefined settings (provided as part of the URI string.)
    2. End users to start remote connections using pre-configured URLs.
    More information.

  • @ in the username field is not accepted on Philips...

I have a Philips VOIP 855 phone (a conbination of a landline and Skype phone). Until now I have on the phone logged on Skype with my old Skype user name. But when Skype in the near future is combined with Messenger I have to log on with my Microsoft Live ID.
But the username field on the phone doesn't accept the @ (symbols). Is Microsoft/Skype supplying a firmware update in due time, so I am ready to use the live ID to log on, when it is required?

I anticipate a specialized phone firmware upgrade will be unnecessary.
As I understand it:  Windows Messenger is being shut down March 15, 2013.  Until then Messenger users can continue to use the service.  However they will be urged to link their Messenger/Live ID to a Skype ID.  This means you will no longer be logging on with your Messenger/Live ID but only your Skype ID (with no @ symbol) as the "primary" way to log in.
I believe the Live ID will remain a web-managerial type account that links services Microsoft provides together.  If you migrate in time, all your Messenger buddies will appear as Messenger contacts in Skype.  If not done in time, or if you need to add more buddies in the future, you will have to log on to your Live ID (login.live.com) to manage/add them individually (using a traditional computer/web-enabled device).
So basically Messenger buddies become what appear to be a specialized list/category that seamlessly links to your skype ID on the back-end.  This way your buddies appear on their own, yet you can still interact with them on Skype.  It will probably appear very similar to having Facebook contacts in Skype.  The only difference being Messenger will be retired and will no longer be available as a stand-alone application.

  • Created By User added to Assigned To User when Assigned To User is empty

I have a requirement to build a runbook activity that will assign the Assigned To User to match the Created By User when the Assigned To User field is empty. However, I am having difficulty pulling both the Assigned To User and the Created By User and keeping
them on the same data bus to do my update after comparing my Assigned To field.
Here is the runbook how I have it currently configured.
    High Level Flow
    Get RBA
    Get CR
    Get Users
Pull the Created By and Assigned To users
Determine if Assigned To user is Empty
If Assigned To user is not empty then end
If Assigned To user is empty then Update CR to have Created By User = Assigned To User then end
My problem lies in trying to keep both the Assigned To and Created By users on the same data bus so I can have the Create Relationship activity make the assignment. If I put them in sequential order or wrap around the Created By user with the Assigned To
user, it has issues pulling the Assigned To user. Here is my attempt of keeping the users on the same databus but this fails when trying to pull the 'Assigned To' user - it makes them the 'Created By' user.
    Any help will be appreciated.

If the Assigned To User is blank then it will not be returned from the get relationship activity since it does not technical exist. What you can do is flatten the data coming from the Get AD Users activity. Then put a filter on the link to only include
if the Relationship Class does not contain Assigned To User. This will make it so your runbook will only continue if an Assigned To User is not present. Then you can add a second Get Relationship this time to return the value for the Created By user. Again
you will create a link filter, but have it only include Created By User. Then you can use the data returned from that to set the Assigned To User.

  • Error in sql server with a trigger (I want to display a customize message, when the user left a blank field or null) How can I do?

How I display a customize message(with a trigger)when a user left a blank field? I want to the stop the insert statament if the user left  the status field in blank. I create a trigger but now I can't enter a row, i used an instead trigger
too but doesn't work. I want to display a customize message when the user left the
status field in blank or null.
     I have the following code:
    CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[BLANKFIELD]
    ON [dbo].[Status]
    FOR INSERT
    AS
    BEGIN
IF (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM inserted WHERE Status IS NULL) =1
PRINT 'Please Fill the Status  field is required'
    Rollback;
    END

I agree with other comments that you should do this with specifying that the column is NOT NULL to prevent it from being NULL and a constraint if you don't want it to be blank (spaces or the empty string - note that the empty string is not the same thing
    as NULL).
But for completeness, the reason your trigger does not ever allow you to enter a row is the code
IF (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM inserted WHERE Status IS NULL) =1
PRINT 'Please Fill the Status field is required'
    Rollback;
Since you don't have a begin/end block after IF, the only conditionally executed statement is the one immediately following the IF (that is the PRINT).  So the Rollback is always executed whether or not the IF is true and so all updates are rejected.
So if you were to do this in a trigger you could do something like the following
    CREATE TRIGGER [dbo].[BLANKFIELD]
    ON [dbo].[Status]
    FOR INSERT
    AS
    BEGIN
IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM inserted WHERE Status IS NULL)
    BEGIN
    PRINT 'Please Fill the Status field is required';
    Rollback;
    END
    END
(As José noted, there can be more than one row in the inserted pseudo table, so you don't want to test whether the COUNT = 1, instead just whether one or more rows exist where the Status  is null.  If you want to prevent Status is NULL, or all
spaces, or the empty string, then your IF statement would be
    IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM inserted WHERE ISNULL(Status, '') = '')

  • Reduce file size of image a user loads into image field in form

    Hello,
I'm a Mediadesigner from Germany and I started to work with Lifcycle Designer about a year ago.
I already made some smaller forms with different fields.
Now I have a special form with empty image fields, that allow the user to put in his images.
For the form goes out to so many different people, some of them just take the images as they are, load them into the form and so the filesize of the pdf grows. For your information: the filled out pdf will be sent back to us by e-mail.
So here is my question: is it possible to reduce the filesize of that images when it is loaded into the fild or when the filled in form is saved.
For example that I can say: "Take all images and make them 72dpi and max. height 500px"?
Thanks for your help in advance!
    Carola

    Hi,
there is now way to reduce the real file size or dimension of an imported image.
But you can checkt the file size and show a warning to the users to use a smaller file.
Here's a sample which describes how to do so:

  • Creating an empty signature field in Acrobat Pro X

I want to make an empty signature field in Acrobat Pro X, so that Acrobat Reader users can later sign it. I know how to enable that last part ("extended PDF Reader"), but don't know how to make an empty field.

Is a blank signature field what I need to create if I want my document to be signed by someone else? I am just the editor of the document. I will not officially sign the document. The signature will come from a managment postion. Everytime I try to create a blank signature field though Adobe wants to sign the document with my personal signature.

  • User Tracking in LMS 3.0.1

    Hello Clark,
I have read the user guide for the CM 5.0 for Tracking users and also i have read the Understanding UTLite,I can't see the users login???
what can be the possible reason i have missed.
    Thanks

    Hello Clarke,
The domain administrator made a mistake in specifying the details in DC,i just added,I have less windows knowledge, where to find the logon scripts files for step 3 in windows 2003 server.as per the campus manager user guide .
    Edit the UTLiteNT.bat file:
    a. Open the UTLiteNT.bat file.
    b. Locate the following line and replace domain and ipaddress with the domain name of the Windows
domain controller and IP address of the computer running the Campus Manager server:
start %WINDIR%\UTLite33 -domain domain -host ipaddress -port 16236
If port 16236 is already in use, enter a different number. This port number must match the number
that you entered in the Use Port Number field, in the User Tracking > Administration >
    Acquisition > Acquisition Settings page.
For more details, see Modifying Acquisition Settings, page 7-10.
Step 3 Edit the logon script files to run the UTLiteNT.bat file when users log into the network by adding this
    line:
    UTLiteNT.bat
    Thanks,

I have a problem wth User Tracking. Some new attatch to network devices: WS-C2960S-48LPS-L.not show me any MAC and address IP. What should I do in this case? I tried many times Acquisition Actions for this devices, but without any positive results.
From Cisco View and Devices Center all informations are properly displayed. Another devices but not this type (
WS-C2960S-48LPS-L) have a proper informations in User Tracking. About 1000 hosts I can show without problems. Only new attathc devices couldn't manage form User Tracking.
    Miroslaw Skorupa

    Thanks for your advice.
Now all my devices are connected in Layer View [Devices View], but User Tracking still not shows me informations from several switches about hosts. Its works like randomizer. Now 5 devices form User Tracking  don't show me informations.[WS3550 2 devices and 2  WS-C2960S-48LPS-L]. In lists devices Acquisition Action i check acquisition for this 5 devices. After that acquisition complete, but User Tracking still empty ( all ports on this devices are active).
    SNMP, Credentials all is good.
I try resolve this problem many days, but without results. Its semmes like a bug.

  • User tracking ip/host resolution how it works

I know usertacking using layer 3 devices to resolve host name/ ip address. on my case devices are behind the firewall and the devices not on my router arp table . the arp table is on firewall show the mac. however interestingly usertracking still resolve the name.the firewall is not even a cisco brand. that is very new to me and I im thinking may be i am not fully understand user tracking. can some one explain to me. thanks in advance

I've been meaning to write up a doc on how UT works.  In the meantime, for layer 3 resolution, UT does a few things.  Historically, it has always tried to acquire ARP entries from layer 3 devices in the network during its acquisition cycles.  A layer 3 device need not be a router.  It can be a 3560 switch, for example.  Firewalls (even Cisco firewalls) are not supported for this.  Using this layer 3 info, UT will perform a reverse lookup to get a hostname for the end host.
The next thing UT does to get layer 3 information is to listen for UTLite updates from Windows hosts.  These updates will contain the MAC address of the client, the username logged into the client, and the IP address of the client.  UT will not do a lookup of this information to get a hostname, however.
Finally, UT can query switches for DHCP snooping details to find an IP address.  This is dependent on dynamic UT being enabled, and that the end host triggered a MAC notification trap to be sent.  Of course, the switch to which the user connects must have DHCP snooping enabled.  Again, UT will not perform a hostname lookup on this IP.
My guess based on what you describe is that you have some layer 3 devices in your network like 6500s, 3560s, 4500s, etc. that have some ARP entries populate, and UT is using these to get IPs.  That assumes you're seeing hostnames.  If you are only seeing IPs, then you could be using UTLite or dynamic UT with DHCP snooping.
